Left a review earlier and still never received a reply to my order that was never received ‍ My family has been stopping at Shisler's since the late '50s. We lived in Canton and moved near Mansfield. We drove back and forth on Route 30 and always stopped there. I live in Twinsburg now. The last 2 years I drove down at Christmas time and ordered gift baskets and other items. Apologies for the long review!! I love the fact that I have found this place for cheese delivery!!! I wanted to write this review because of the wonderful customer service I received with my last order. I used to purchase Habanero Cheddar from two delis in Cincinnati, OH to make cheesesticks. I moved to Louisiana in January and was craving my cheesesticks. When my husband would come to Louisiana, he would pick up the cheese from the deli and bring it to me. But that did not help when I ran out and was craving cheesesticks and he was in Ohio! I searched and searched online and finally I located Shisler's Cheese House. I ordered on May 2, 2022 and was delighted that it was my cheese!!!!!!! I placed another order near the end of May and like a dunderhead, used my billing address as my shipping address (I have not got around to updating my credit cards!). I called Shisler's after I discovered the error (thank goodness it was after Memorial Day Weekend and they had not shipped the order yet). Unfortunately, I did not take the name of the wonderful person who answered the phone. This person took care of it right away, and did not make me feel like it was an inconvenience. Its small as you can see from the outside but it also doesn't have the shoulder to shoulder crowds. We always stop just to see what they have. They sells meats, cheeses, baked good and some dry goods. Yrs ago we bought some big soft sugar cookies and we always hope to buy them again but the last 2 times they haven't had them. My experience with this place stinks. Stinky cheese that is! They've got it! I got it from them pronto, and my taste buds are happy campers. Now living on the left coast, good to me food in several categories is hard to come by, and if so, usually quite expensive. Many of my gastronomical influences come from my upbringing on the east coast, my European heritage and thankfully the adventurous palates of my parents. And specifically here, my forays to the cheese shop at the now defunct Macy's in downtown Brooklyn, NY. Never a more heavenly smell than when going through the revolving front door to that space. Anyhow, my tastes in cheeses are far from the hundred versions of mild cheddar typically offered by grocers. My first exposure to stinky cheese was from beer cheese from Macy's. My grandmother told a story about coming home on the bus with a package of same, and having folks looking askance at her and moving a bit away. But that's another story ;' ) Back to Shisler's. Feeling sorely deprived of cheese with a presence I got on line and searched. Schisler's was one of several that were referenced. After much website perusal these guys had what I wanted and at the most reasonable cost. I called and reached Dennis, one of the owners. We had a good chat about cheese and my order. He was MOST helpful, friendly and accommodating. My order was for two pounds of "old brick", two pounds of beer cheese, and a couple of tubs of limburger spread. The order was given on a Friday, and the heavenly package arrived on Monday! Ohio to Washington State over the weekend. Num num num....... "A" plus on customer service and product. As The Terminator said, I'll be back! Hopefully I'll get to visit the shop someday and see how small it is. BTW, when shopping Amish baked goods check the ingredients. Last I was in that country they used hydrogenated oil in all the baked stuff, and had no idea what that was or the implications. read more

Hubby & I stopped in while visiting family in the area. The owners were friendly & inviting. They encouraged us to try the Swiss cheese at room temperature on the counter. It seems the true flavor of the Swiss cheese comes out then. We were sold & bought a pound! We also bought 4 fry pies which were delicious. This is a nice little shop filled with Amish items such as jam, pickles, chocolate, baked goods & a small deli. We would definitely return when in the area. read more

If you want the worlds greatest Swiss cheese stop in here! Ask for a sample of sharp Swiss cheese at the counter. My personal favorites to buy in this shop are - any of wheel cheeses or Swiss cheese, trail bologna, cheese curds, Troyers rolls, and the haystack and vanilla cream Heggy's chocolates. Terrible customer service. Tried contacting this "company" three times and being completely ignored. The email on their website doesn't even work. They messed up my online order. Rather than contact me to let me know that one of the cheeses I ordered was not available, they sent me an extra 1/2lb of one cheese I did order and 1lb of a cheese I hate which, of course, I didn't order. They just left a little note in the shipping box saying "sorry." I guess they don't care about repeat customers. Well, you just lost one and I'm sure I'm not the only one you've lost. read more

This is a phenomenal little place. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The only issue is it not handicap accessible and it's really too small for a wheelchair if there is more than one person in the store. If you're healthy, a must visit. read more

Seriously, I'm not sure why this place has more than a few stars. Sure it has a cute tourist trap appeal that made us stop and check it out, but aside from the mouse statue outside, there is nothing redeeming. It's tiny inside, cramped, and kind if junked up. The cheeses are shoved in a cooler. If you really want cheese, go to the Cheesebarn in Ashland. The baked goods looked yummy but they weren't made there. The jars if jelly and condiments weren't even made in Ohio for the most part. The worker/owner(?) was talking to some dude about their website, loudly, in the middle of the front counter area, so we were totally ignored. Wasn't feeling it, pass on this place. read more

I stopped in here because it is right off of 30. I wasn't all that impressed with the place. Their prices weren't as cheap as a few other places I visit also it was alittle cramped in the store. This place is a cool place for that local, next door mom & pop business but the bigger cheese houses seem to be better planned. They have a small selection of cheese & meat from at least from what I could see. I was also disappointed to not see any free samples setting out or a spcial of the day. Maybe I missed it which could of been easy since it is a smal compact area. I would stop in here if you don't want to go far off of 30 on a trip here but I wouldn't drive out of my way to get here. Cheaper cheese and meat can be had in the area. Their bulk also is meh. as I have seen better deals. I give this a 2 compared to other Cheese Houses & bulk store I have been too. But don't hold anyone back from stopping in here and giving this place a chance, I am sure this would be great for some people's taste. read more

This is not the Costco of cheese. But try the yogart garlic and herb cheese, hell just try the plain jane colby. Really good, fresh taste and enough variety. If you want bread, jam, or other things maybe not. The shop is small but don't rate them based on size but what is there. Mom and daughter really made our twelve dollar purchase seem genuinely important. They offered a cheap way to buy their cheese. Yeah, I got beef sticks for the money I saved!! They were almost as good as cheese. Nice small store, and a couple of nice finds. Do not overlook amish baskets out front, again handmade and priced accordingly. The other reviews seem focused on how small this place is, but that didn't bother us. They stock a decent selection of cheese, including a goat cheese that looked delicious (though $15/lb.), multiple kinds of swiss, and cheese and sausage sampler packs. My husband liked their German rolls, and I'm a big fan of the Nanny Goat Naturals fudge they carry. They also had regular fudge, Heggy's chocolate, plenty of baked goods (cookies, cakes, pies) and dried fruit and trail mix. Shisler's is small but pleasant. My timing was wrong for buying much, but I wanted to see what they had. That turned out to be a wide variety of foods for sale, some are of local provenance, some are not. The local chocolate candies are pretty good, and set up so you can buy a few or a lot. They had many breads and sweet baked goods on display. Having just come from the pie shop, I bought only a rye bread, which was very good. I had a few samples of their cheeses, and bought some Amish butter cheese, which is rich and mellow. Would have liked to try some of their braunschweiger and/or Lebanon bologna, but that will have to wait till I go back with a cooler. read more

My dad used to take me there a long time ago when we lived in Wooster. After I moved to Florida, I started ordering my favorites on line. Do it every year for Christmas. I love this little shop! they have a great selection of cheese that I like and they seem to always have something new and interesting to try. if you want to try anything they will pull it out and let you sample it. super people and just a neat little shop. It is small and can get easily crowded but there are ALWAYS people in there! they have a great selection of candies, different and interesting things liked flavored honey and most everything is local. Im a huge fan of eclectic places like this Im also a big supporter of immigrants and working for what you have its near and dear to me that this place has a special history. We've enjoyed sterling customer service and assistance even while residing in Africa, and punctual deliveries with concern for both customer and product. In one instance, a staff member personally shuttled a gift basket to our ailing relative at the store's expense! A stop for some local delicacies, a brief stretch (it is a small shop), and a few exchanged pleasantries with the proprieters is a must when we pass through the region. Great selection of cheese, and just ask one of the employees, they will let you taste anything you have never had and are very well versed at making suggestions for what you are looking for. They offered me samples and cut/sliced my cheese to order. They have a huge selection of cheeses both local and imported. They ship their cheeses, meats, candies anywhere and they accept checks and credit cards.
