I needed parts to replace front struts and resr shocks for my 2016 Honda CRV. I was lookikg specifically for KYB-G front struts and rear shocks. I end up ordering the kYB strut assembly kit, which was not included with the suspension replacement i ordered. The struts and shocks were $599, the strut kit each were $35.99 Everything was shipped from California to my house in 4 days via UPS ground total $$735 including tax. Smooth transaction pretty quick. I have 30 days to get a full refund. I had the suspension installed yesterday by my local mechanic. No issues, straight forward, maybe i could have gotten the kitfor a few dollars less from another vendor but other sites did not have items in stock. Sometimes you oay a bit more, just because you need to make the repair quicker plus less down time. I realized the rear shocks could havr been upgraded to come with new springs but i didnt think i needed, my car has 88k miles and had original struts and shocks from factory, i need my car for work. Cant afford to be out of car due ti long commute. My only issue was the shipping, items were shipped and it took 5 days to get to NYC. Maybe the holiday had slmeto do with it. read more

I sent a set of Kings to be rebuilt, one had some outer body damage, but nothing to cause them to leak. I shipped them from San Jose, CA to Shock Surplus in Los Angeles. After they disassembled and let me know what was needed, I approved the work, a few days later they contacted me letting me know I needed a new shaft from Carli or King, I approved the purchase, they repaired the shocks, shipped them back. The first thing I noticed on both shocks, they had already begun leaking. I couldn't tell if it was just excess oil, they maybe didn't clean up, but within 2 weeks all the oil had leaked out of the shocks, and now every bump is a squeak on the truck. I spoke with Bryan Martinez, he had me send him photos, and then he completely ignored me, no phone call, no email, no contact, no warranty! One month later, I get an email from another guy asking if the issue was resolved, I responded NO, and I never heard from them again. I will never recommend this company to anyone. They are the absolute worst by far, and I'm in the off road industry. Here is the last email communication. Hi Marc, I wanted to follow up on this, I've been out of the office for the past few weeks. Did you get an email response from Steve? Hi Jeff, Unfortunately I have not heard from anyone.  Shocks have likely lost all fluids, and continuously squeak.  Disappointed is an understatement. read more

Ordered 4 very common GM truck shocks that were in stock at multiple other sources. I received two of them with a notification that my order had been filled. I had to call in and state it was not fulfilled at all. They said they were not sure why that happened but would send out the other two right away, and would send them from Las Vegas, which was their closest warehouse. A few days later, I received one more. Had to call in again, only to be told the same thing: "not sure why this happened," etc. Told me they would send another one and for me to watch my email and call back if I did not receive it. Sorry, I should not have to call back. You should call me when you have solved it. To call multiple times and wait weeks to get 4 common GM shocks is unacceptable. It has now been 2 weeks and I do not have all 4 shocks. Will not buy again. read more

This review is just based on Shipping and Customer Service. I will review the product later and am hopeful they are as good as previous reviews say. However, Shock Surplus "lost" my order for a week. Never received shipping so I called. I worked with Daisy. Now I can understand a warehouse missing something. And it sounded real nice, "Oh I'm so sorry, let me find that and overnight it to you for your inconvenience". Well that didn't happen either. It has now been 2 weeks since I ordered the product. I ordered it that far in advance so I would have them and be ready before the day I planned to work on the truck. Well now Fed Ex says they won't be here til tomorrow "sometime" and I had to make multiple phone calls just to talk to them to possibly change the delivery address to the shop so I wouldn't have to make multiple trips. Well no go on that one too. Also my biggest complaint is that after every call I would hear, "I will call you right back" or "check your email, and I'll get right back to you" for roughly 3 days. Nothing ever got resolved and I did not ever receive a call back from them. Needless to say very disappointed in shipping and customer service. Hopefully the product makes up for the inconvenience. Bottom line where the order says ships and arrived in 3-5 days, don't hold your breath. read more

I bought a set of Bilstein B6 shocks for my BMW340. They raised the car about 20mm. I was not told about this by the salesperson. They refused to take the shocks back and recommended another shock, the B8 which I know lowers the front a lot and dosen't change the rear. Only buy from them if you know exactly what you need and don't ask for advice. read more

DO NOT BUY SUSPENSIONS FROM SHOCKS SURPLUS!!! I ordered a basic ICON Stage 2 suspension on June 1st and was assured I would receive it within 7-10 days. After receiving a couple of emails about my items being shipped after contacting them 11 days after my order, I soon discovered some of my items had been shipped to someone else in a different State. After more phone calls and emails and promises to refund my money, I am still waiting on my refund a month later. Oh by the way, after they "cancelled" my order, I received 1 item that was part of my original order 4 weeks after the order was placed and a week after my order was "cancelled." They're in no rush to ship your order I placed a $5,000 order only for the order not to ship by the date it was supposed to. When I called to check on the status you need to fight through an AI to get to a person that can " help". After getting ahold of Joe i was informed my order was not in stock but I would be in line for when the shocks become available in a few months. I canceled the order and ordered the only set that was comparable in performance yet $3000 more in price. So now my ordered was over $8000 and I was told the order would go out the next morning next day air. After a week of phone calls the shocks still haven't shipped. read more

Really frustrated with what should have been a simple transaction. They only sell one thing and it's in their name... I ordered for my older truck off the website recommendations and the shocks were wrong. After being asked for pictures and measurements, they had their specialists send me the correct replacements. The new versions worked in the front, but not in the rear. After months of back and forth with the support and their AI answered phone system, the company has now just ghosted me and I am stuck with rear shocks that don't fit my truck and out $200. Ordered a kit for my 2012 4Runner suspension that failed for inspection. Over the period of a month I did not receive any correspondence. I emailed twice asking for an update or when I could expect the items, nothing. Finally called and got a message I would be called/texted back with an update. Nothing. Called and asked for them to cancel my order, which finally I got someone to talk to, and sounded like my order hadn't even been started on as they were happy to cancel. Over a month waiting for correspondence, who knows how long it would've actually taken to ship! Definitely recommend calling and not placing order online as it seems they don't carry many items in stock. Can't speak to the quality of their products, but I would not recommend if you need for a job quickly! read more

Upon installation I made a bit of a silly mistake and ended up needing another bump stop, and they very kindly dug around their shop and let me come grab a lightly used one free of charge. Terrible company. I ordered a set of Bilstein Shocks, totalling 2300. They just sent one. They sent another 3wks later, which was the incorrect item. I returned it, and after much waiting. Decided on a refund. They never refunded my money. This was mid March, and as of today, its the end of April. I call and they are friendly. But no resolution. Bad experience, never again. read more

I was told part number AK7110SB06 was in stock and approved for exchange. A representative walked me through the process and I was charged a $20 reshipment fee to complete the exchange. I then waited five days for a return label and had to call myself before it was finally sent. I returned the original shock expecting the agreed-upon exchange. Instead of notifying me that the replacement shock was discontinued or unavailable, the company refunded the order back to my original payment method without consulting me first. The refund was sent to a Buy Now Pay Later service, which resulted in additional fees. I lost my original down payment, paid return shipping, paid the reshipment fee, and was left without the shock I needed for an event I had already invested significant money into. At no point was I given the option to choose an alternative product before the refund was processed. This experience cost me time, money, and the ability to attend a scheduled event. I cannot recommend ordering discontinued or limited-availability items from this company without verifying physical inventory first. read more

Ordered a set of Eibach shocks for my 24 F150. They sent me 3 in one shipment and one separately. It took a couple weeks to get everything. One of the front struts ended up missing hardware which put me in a bind having my truck apart and now not being able to install. After checking things out further I noticed the box had been opened previously and the hardware bag was different. I tried to contact shock surplus and no response and no help. Had to get the part directly from Eibach instead. I will never buy another thing from Shock Surplus. read more

I paid $905.00 for 0-2" Eibach Front Coil over shocks for my 2024 4Runner because I did not like the stock nosedive my stock 2024 4Runner came with. I paid $400.00 to have them installed and kept saying WHY after 8400 miles have they not settled yet! Well, a shop recommended I look up the parts # sent to me in the box. Sure enough Shock Surplus send me the WRONG SHOCKS 2-4"! I called yesterday and spoke with Hector who said to measure something, I said nope, I have the proof in front of me that what I ordered is NOT what I received. Today is Wednesday 6-25-2025. If I don't hear back from the manager Jeff by tomorrow about a full refund. I will be in Small Claims Court Friday because this should not happen! DO NOT shop from Shock Surplus. I ordered shocks from Shock Surplus and I was very happy with the service I received on my order along with the fast delivery of my order. While installing the KYB shocks on the front of my GMC truck, I noticed the bottom mount on the shock was too wide for the mount on the lower control arm. I called Shock Surplus and talked to Daisy and was able to return my shocks and get Bilstein 5100 series in the place of the KYB shocks. The response and service was great. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I would buy from them again. read more

Deceitful sales practices. After giving Shock Surplus all the information on my truck, they recommended a Fox 2.5 HTO shock. The salesman stated: "These shocks are built with a larger 2.5-inch body for improved heat dissipation and damping control, making them ideal for extended off-road use or heavy-duty applications like towing, hauling, or overlapping." However as soon as I installed the shock, I realized that they recommended the wrong length of shock for my application. The sales rep wanted me to spend an additional $500 on new jounce bumpers that would have limited my travel to about 2". That defeats the purpose of lifting my truck. When I asked for a refund, I was told that they could not be returned because I installed them. Somebody explain to me how would have known they were not the right size without installing them? Extremely frustrated with having my new truck sit in the driveway for 3 weeks and being told that I spent $1,500 on shocks that were worthless to me I reached out to the CEO, Sean Reyes, then Chief of Operations, Ryan Hickey and finally Jeff Lazo, Customer Support Manager. None of the three would respond to me. read more

I ordered 2 set of shocks that was listed on their site that was marked for $1 they processed it, shipped it by ups then they changed the address to ship it back to them 2 days before I was to get them, the day it was delivered to Pennsylvania and I live in Missouri I called the rude customer service they was glitch in their system so they stop the shipment and refuse to honor the price but would sell them to me at the correct cost.The way I see it not my fault they had a glitch they should proof read stuff before they post it for sale.I will not buy anything form this joke of a company and nothing but bad publicity for them and that will be a lot for the business I am in read more
