The Covina Kia dealership management seem to care about providing good service and followed up with me post contract signing; however a lot depend on the sales person and perhaps the finance manger. With regard to sales personnel, Helmer Mejia (5 Stars) is the guy to ask for; he was responsive, followed up well and most importantly he was transparent / honest about the numbers and followed through with all that was discussed. Once you get into finance, be sure to go over all the numbers that were discussed / promissed and everything should be fine. read more

This dealership has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Over the years, I've purchased 10 brand-new vehicles, and three of them were from this Kia dealership. Unfortunately, each experience reinforced the same impression: the service and parts departments have little interest in going the extra mile for their customers. On top of that, their service and parts prices are significantly higher than what I've encountered at other dealerships, without providing a level of service that justifies the added cost. Because of my repeated experiences with this dealership, I will never purchase another Kia. I don't like to leave negative reviews for businesses as you could tell by my profile history, but here it is: If you're looking to buy a brand new car cash or financed, avoid this dealership at all cost or at least avoid this "salesman" Omar. He was unprofessional from the get go, looking disinterested with no smile accompanied by a sweaty handshake and looking at his phone on and off. It wasn't until we got inside the car we were looking at for a test drive that he started looking less disinterested and started dropping profanities every other sentence as if he was talking to a friend. When I asked him if he could price the vehicle around $21,000, he said he couldn't and that it would have to be sticker price at around $23,000, as per what "his phone showed". I mentioned to him the sticker price showed as "$24,000" so he responded saying "Oh yea, $24,000", even though his phone showed "$23,000". I then asked him if the $24,000 would include the TOTAL out the door price including fees, taxes, dmv charges, etc... and he responded saying "yes". As we later thank him for the information he provided us, he asks us what price we're aiming to pay, so I remind him closer to $21,000. He responds by saying he can't do $21,000 but try to get it closer to that price if we just go inside and give him 5 minutes. After a while, he comes back with paperwork showing us "2 discounts" he's able to provide us making the total price over $26,000. $2,000 to $3,000 more than what he quoted us outside and nowhere near $21,000. As I tell him if they can't get close to that price, then that's fine, we can go somewhere else which proceeded to make him snap and condescending. I later asked him for his name again and he refused to provide it then lies AGAIN and says his name is Jack. Luckily, my partner actually remembered his name, which is Omar. So if you're looking for terrible lackluster service, ask for him, otherwise, try another salesman or another dealership, probably another dealership. read more

1 star. Very disappointed with Covina Kia's service department. My Kia is relatively new and under 60,000 miles, yet it has been sitting at the dealership for approximately 16-20 days with an electronic/computer sensor issue and still no resolution. Communication has been poor and I've had to repeatedly call for updates. I've even been told they have other vehicles they need to work on, leaving a customer's vehicle there for weeks without resolving the problem is unacceptable. I've also noticed a big difference with oil changes. At Covina Kia I was getting around 3,500 miles between oil changes, while at Kia Santa Monica I get around 5,500 miles under the same type of driving. James was not only personable and professional but genuinely gave us amazing advice and pointers throughout our shopping experience and really made what is a stressful experience actually really enjoyable. I even went and provided direct feedback to his manager because his demeanor and professionalism were so genuine and above the mark in terms of what my past experiences at dealerships have been, especially for a first time car buyer. I've taken my car here for the same issue multiple times and they never seem to find anything wrong with it. I went back today and was helped by Michael Connelly (who I had to wait on since he snuck out to get food). When I tried to explain to him that I couldn't leave my car for 5 days, just for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong with it since I need it for work, he got snappy and rude even though I hadn't spoken to him in a way that would merit that reaction. He mentioned that they hadn't charged me previously (May), which is true. However it was because I was shocked that the car turned off in the middle of the freeway while driving and they claimed there was nothing wrong with it. Then he said it's not true they didn't find anything wrong with it because the first time I took it (last May) they "put in $1200 part for free, under warranty." Which is also true, but it was a recall part, so it was going to be replaced anyway. When it came to the initial problem of shutting off, they said there was nothing wrong. If the recall had been what was wrong with it, then why am I still bringing it in for the same issue? The way he talked to me was like they were doing me some kind of favor, he was rude and it totally left a bad taste in my mouth about this dealership. I had a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience at the Citrus Covina location and feel the need to warn others. On April 17, 2026, my mother and I dropped off her 2013 Kia Soul to have a driver-side door lock issue looked at. We also mentioned her broken key fob and asked about her AC not working, just to get estimates. We were helped by Emilio Quinonez, who told us the inspection fee would be $299. At no point did he explain that this fee would be charged per issue. Based on what he told us, we agreed under the impression that the total inspection cost would be $299. Although I signed a receipt that listed $599, that amount was never clearly explained to us. We relied on his verbal explanation, and the lack of transparency led to a major misunderstanding that could have easily been avoided. It gets worse. Emilio told us he would follow up by Monday, April 20 (if not sooner). We never heard back. By Tuesday, my mom had called SIX times, and I called three times, and I was never even able to reach him. Completely unprofessional. When my mom finally got through and asked for the car back, we were suddenly told the total was $599--which was a complete shock based on what we had originally been told. When we arrived, the situation escalated. Emilio claimed he had been "thorough," which we strongly disagree with considering the poor communication and lack of follow-up. We were then directed to the service manager, Oscar Najera, and this is where things became even more uncomfortable. While my boyfriend was respectfully asking questions, Oscar refused to acknowledge him and insisted on only speaking to my mom and me. When my boyfriend tried to speak again, Oscar raised his voice, told him to stop talking, and even said that if he continued, he would keep the full $599 charge. That behavior was completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and honestly intimidating. Yes, the charge was eventually adjusted and an apology was given to my boyfriend--but the damage was already done. The entire experience left us feeling disrespected, dismissed, and uncomfortable. This situation could have been avoided with clear communication and basic professionalism. Customers deserve to be fully informed about charges upfront--not misled and then ignored. I would not recommend this location based on our experience. read more

I bought a used car here around two years ago and my experience was consistent with the general reputation of used car dealerships. Car was in good shape when I test drove it but had some browning paint protection film that had been installed when it was new some ten years prior. They said that would be removed and some other service would be done before it would be purchased. I could tell the previous owner had taken good care of it and it was low miles for the age. At the time I was without a car and lived a long and expensive uber/lyft ride away so after inspecting the car I let them know I wanted an out the door price with financing before I would consider returning in person to the dealer. They went over a week without telling me the out the door numbers despite frequent calls and texts from them insisting I return to the dealer in person to work out the details. In the meantime they actually raised the listed price by over a thousand dollars on their website. I let them know I was only interested in the original price they listed (already kind of high but market appropriate) and after sending them screenshots of the price change online they relented. I think interest in the car had been limited outside of myself so they finally sent me an out the door breakdown with partial financing numbers to consider after I continually refused to just show up without seeing them first. I paid for an expensive hour plus long lyft ride to the dealership on a Friday evening after work. Very unusual for September there had been a large downpour so the car which was alleged to have been professionally detailed was unavoidably wet. It was said to have new tie rod ends and some other maintenance performed. After a bit of a wait in the office I saw that the actual terms in the paperwork were slightly different than what I had been sent (and previously agreed to) but I was there, desperately needed a car, and would have to spend another $70 or so to go home so I relented which I'm sure they anticipated. The carfax didn't have a great deal of documented service so they spent a significant amount of time trying to convince me I should get an expensive warranty and maintenance deal through this Kia dealership added to the financing (which was not a Kia). I knew a lot of shops that do all kinds of maintenance don't report to carfax so I didn't go for it and was finally able to get out of there without any more of their expensive and unjustified add ons. They were pretty shameless in their attempts to try and tell me the car was suddenly a ticking time bomb which I knew was not likely the case. When I went to the car to drive away a salesman removed a large sales sticker from the inside of the windshield which left a large rectangular mark, revealing that the windshield was tinted, something not previously disclosed or noted . A fully tinted windshield is illegal in California (only the top four to five inches of the windshield can have a slight tint). He apologized profusely and said they would schedule a time for the detailer to remove the tint (now severely damaged and unsightly from the dealer sticker) from the windshield in the next week. This of course never happened even after I inquired about it the following week when the same salesman emailed about whether I had any questions and if I would be kind enough to leave a google/yelp review. When the car properly dried over the course of the next few days I saw that the 'professional detail' done by the dealership (and added to the carfax hilariously) to remove the browned paint protection film was woefully incomplete and had left glue as well as large chunks of the old film all over the hood and front fascia of the car. This glue was not detectable right away given the rainstorm but soon accumulated unsightly dirt and road grime that stuck to it. I spent two weekends removing the rest of the old paint protection film and glue. I also learned the alignment was slightly off which was not the case when I test drove it and that they may have damaged one of the front struts when replacing the tie rod ends. I ended up taking care of all that and have done almost all of the maintenance myself since (including the removal of the cheap oil filter they installed). I never heard back about the illegally tinted windshield and ended up taking care of that myself. I have since driven the car over forty thousand miles and am happy with it but I attribute that with the research and inspection I had done on the individual car previously and not due to this dealership. I can't say I would recommend this place over any other used car dealership and definitely would not have any service or detailing done there. read more
