Well, even the best laid plans for Christmas can go awry and send you out on Christmas Eve for a couple of last-minute gifts. I was so impressed with the inventory that this store had, any kind of shoe you want they have it. But the highlight of my experience here was the employees! They were all so welcoming and helpful and patient while helping me find the exact shoes I was looking for. When I was finally ready to check out the ladies behind the register were so sweet and accommodating. I wish I had gotten names, but I do know the manager was amazing and said she had to work Christmas Day because they don't close. I originally planned to buy a pair of shoes for each of my two children, but this store had very limited options for kids' shoes. After trying on just one shoe and letting my child run a few steps to see if it fit properly, a male employee immediately came over with a very rude attitude and demanded to know where we had taken the shoe from, as if he was more worried about the display being disturbed than helping a customer. How are customers supposed to buy shoes without trying them on first? When shopping for children's shoes, it's completely normal for kids to walk or run a few steps to make sure the shoes fit comfortably. To make matters worse, a female employee also had a very unpleasant attitude and looked annoyed the entire time, making it clear that customers were not welcome. I decided to leave immediately. We went to WSS instead, where the service was excellent and the selection of children's shoes was much better. We quickly found and purchased two pairs of shoes. My advice to others: think twice before shopping here. Respecting customers should be the bare minimum in any business. If normal shoe fitting is treated like an inconvenience, then this store doesn't deserve your business. "I wish I could give this place zero stars. My husband and I rushed in 13 minutes before closing, desperate for shoes for a last-minute trip. Instead of a helpful greeting, we were met with a rude announcement that they were closing. Okay, fine, we said we'd be quick. My husband tried on a pair of shoes, and the employee loudly reminded her coworker that they closed at nine. We were still planning to buy when they dramatically turned off the lights, leaving us in near darkness. The employee then rudely announced, "We are closed. We need to catch the bus." My husband decided then and there that we wouldn't be buying anything from such a hostile place. As we walked out, the employee snidely added, "Some of us need to catch the bus. We have places to be." Seriously? We were about to drop $300 on two pairs of Hokas, but this employee's rudeness cost them the sale. I usually don't complain, but this was beyond the pale. Whoever manages this store needs to address this employee's behavior before she drives the business into the ground. Avoid this place like the plague if you value decent customer service." Do not shop here. Been burned twice by them now. First incident was over a year ago. Bought Nike's for two kids. Cashier rang my transaction up then I noticed two day later that they charged my bank card twice for the same amount. Fast forward to last week, my husband bought me a pair of running shoes for my birthday. I put them on in the morning and went about my jam-packed day. All day, I kept thinking the shoes felt weird, like little pebbles were in them. Took them off that evening to find the insoles of both shoes were missing! Literally ripped out. I took these out of the box and put them straight on my feet. I didn't remove any insoles. Why would I? My husband went to the store to exchange and they said "No. Your wife must've taken them out." What?! Why?! All so he can return a $40 pair of reeboks? Really? These aren't Hoka's or Brooks for crying out loud. I went in yesterday to discuss with the manager and she made me turn full Karen when I asked her "Why would I do that?" She shrugged her shoulders and said that every shoe has insoles, always. I said, "So are you calling me a liar?" She agreed that I must be lying and said that her cashiers check every single shoe for insoles. Always. Ok, so I'm a liar, removed the insoles for what? To exchange shoes that were otherwise perfectly fine? It would have cost her nothing to make this situation right. Instead, I will never give them another dime, I'm adding to the negative reviews they already have and I'm still going to work through customer service to get this right. At this point, it's the principal - not the $40. Seriously disgusted with the way that manager treated me. I didn't like that they hovered over me the entire time, even from the counter they watched me look at their shoe selection. I was trying to find a nice pair of Nike's, and I had asked them if they had my size. They replied that they didn't have my size, yet I looked myself and found a pair that were exactly my size so I pointed to that box. They told me it wasn't the same pair but the label literally said it was the shoes I was looking for, it wasn't until they pulled the box out and actually checked that they believed me and to no surprise it was the shoes I wanted and the right size I was looking for. I didn't end up getting them because of how uncomfortable I was in the store. As I left and got into the car, they were watching me from the door and stayed their for a good 5 minutes while I looked up other shoe stores in the area. I called in at 8:35 explaining that I am en route and 6 mins away, and is it still okay for me to come in for a pair of shoes, NOT to shop around for shoes but to pick up a pair of running shoes (I didn't really care as long as it's in my size) as my current shoes aren't working for me and I'm from out of state/traveling and need a pair for tomorrow morning. Woman working Friday afternoon 2/21/25 was extremely rude and needs to be educated on Service Dogs and ADA rules. I have a Service Dog she told me no dogs are allowed in the store not even Service Dogs. She said it was company policy. After we asked her if she knew the ADA rules she said we could stay. Isabell is a terrible "manager". Today my boyfriend and I came to this store and we found a pair of shoes. When checking out, I got to spin their wheel behind the register. The wheel landed on a "free pair of shoes" and even that the 2 employees decided that I won, they sheepishly called over their manager Isabell. Isabell pushed the wheel so it moved over to the next option to make it so I did not win. Right in front of us. Please don't get me wrong, it is not about the free shoes. I can happily buy another pair of shoes. But it is about the principle. Why would you have someone spin the wheel to win and prize and when they win that prize, you push the wheel and tell the customer they did not win? What is the point of that? Just to be a controlling? This lady did not have to do that. What difference is it to her? So instead of making a customer happy so that they return and purchase from you again, she would rather lose the business just to be an incompetent, unprofessional, and unhappy person? I would recommend for upper management to hire a manager who is friendly, competent, and knows GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I walk over to try on the shoe i am thinking of buying to have a sales rep walk over passing multiple customers to then stare at me standing 5 feet away. She stood there for a solid 3 minutes before someone asked her a question and another sales rep takes her place staring at me. Not once asked if I'm finding everything okay or if i need help. By the looks of the surrounding buildings, I expected a Ross or Burlington disorderly atmosphere, but this joint was clean and well organized. Sectioned off for kids, adults and brands. Had issues using a shoe city gift card, they said it didn't work but when were call in it confirms a balance. This place is just ghetto all the way around. So I went in there today. I got my shoes and went to check out. They told me there card reader may be down. So they tried it anyway. They tired the card twice to no avail. I felt kinda weird on how they where acting. So when I went out side I called my bank to check. And of course there was a charge on my account. Omg!! This has to be the biggest hassle ever to buy shoes here!! They won't let you try on both shoes (L & R) until you purchase them! I have to spend $107 in order to try the set.. One top of that they gave me a DIRTY shoe!!! So we had the girl (ROSA) go back and get us a clean shoe! She came back and told us "this one is clean, so if YOU DIRTY IT, here nothing we can do" FIRST OF ALL RUDE!! we were right in front of her when we put it on! Took my younger brother in to buy a pair of shoes. He already knew which pair he wanted so it didn't take long. Walked over to the front counter and I saw some socks that my brother had been wanting. They clearly had a sticker that said $2.99, so I said " hey, these are only $2.99 (right in front of two workers) you can get these with your budget." So he took the socks too. The whole time the lady at the front was ringing us up she didn't speak or smile. When she rang up the socks (which she manually entered the price) they rang up as $6.99. I tried to return a defective pair of $20 kids shoes; the 2nd pair of these same shoes, all within a 13 day period. I was given guff about how the shoes were worn, nevermind the point of my return was due to one of the USB heads, from light-up shoes, had broken off. I had to argue with Isabel (manager) to get her to return them, she did, albeit quite begrudgingly. I picked out a more expensive pair of Skechers ($40), only to be informed that because I had done 2 prior defective exchanges, that any further returns would need to go thru Customer Service. And on top of that I had to argue, with the cashier, to get my receipt. I was initially given the gift card slip, not a proof of purchase receipt. Why is your return policy being changed, on the fly, in front of me? Is your return policy a car/tire one? Where it's EITHER 30 days OR one exchange? Funny, that verbiage is mysteriously absent on your receipts. So much wrong with this experience. IF Shoe City wishes to not stand behind the products they sell, then I'd be happy to return my purchase and will gladly except a refund in the form of cash. And in doing so, I will gleefully never step foot in another Shoe City, ever again. read more
