I got charged $40 for a clean and they threw in a free $10 sew to a cut on the opening of the left shoe. I thought $40 for the clean was steep. They said that it was due to the shoe being made of high quality leather. Not sure if that means more time would be spent on cleaning or if premium cleaning material would be needed. Nonetheless, due to the stellar reviews they have I ended up trusting they'd do a great job. The result was a good job as I still saw smudges on the shoe (The lighting in my car was great so you can't tell) I ended up taking my other pairs to another spot for cleaning at a cost of $8 per clean. The quality was similar and at a much cheaper rate. There was a language barrier when communicating with the owners but overall they were friendly and pleasant to work with! I might come back in a pinch since they're only a 5 min walk from my apt, but I'll make the drive to my $8 cleaning guy for the majority of my needs. read more

Three more miracles. My Black Versace Belt was a main part of my swag gear. I used it so much that it was left for dead. The Shoe Doctor performed an operation and now, it has a clean bill of health. My two Leather Tumi Backpacks were on life support. You're probably asking, "Why would anyone purchase two identical backpacks?" The reason is, I purchased the second one to replace the first one. The man who worked there did not speak English, which is fine, I can use Google Translate. BUT he kept touching me and rubbing my shoulder, forearm, upper arm. You can communicate with hand gestures without touching a complete stranger. I went in to get extra holes punched in my purse strap. I noticed he was touchy immediately, but excused it at first bc he didn't speak English and I thought he was trying to communicate and be warm. But he was doing it while I was showing him my purse, over and over, and you really don't need to touch me to get my attention, I'm standing next to you. He then grabs my hand to hold the purse strap while he as punching the holes. Then touched my wrist to admire my bracelets. When I went to grab my phone to use Google Translate, he keeps touching me (rubbing my arm) again. And in the moment, I'm like maybe he's trying to communicate something, but I don't understand Korean, and he kept speaking Korean and rubbing my arm. Like you can tap my arm to get my attention or point, but he's already got my attention, why is he rubbing me w his dirty hands? Anyway, I was gaslighting myself and excusing it for miscommunication, but even after he finished, he kept rubbing my arm, then approached me for a hug. Like what cobbler hugs a complete stranger/customer?! I definitely noticed him checking out my chest. When I left, I just felt so dirty, violated, and grossed out. My vintage cowboy boots lost their heel caps and I needed them quickly repaired. The Shoe Doctor is in K-Town not too far from where I live so I thought I'd try them after reading a few positive reviews. I don't speak Korean but I didn't have any issues communicating my needs. They suggested that I get my soles redone in addition to the heel caps and they'd do a free shine. The quote was $60. I did need new soles so I agreed and asked that they only shine around the bottom of the boot as I wasn't sure how it would turn out - after pick up I would say I'd trust them to shine the entire boot. I dropped my boots off on a Friday and they were ready by Tuesday. Shoe Doctor is a Mom and Pop repair shop run by a nice couple on Western near 4th Street. I was able to find metered street parking on drop off and lot parking out front on pickup. read more

I got two pairs of boots resoled here. They did a great job, and also cleaned and polished the boots. The points for my pair of pointed boots were worn and they repainted and fixed it for me too. Friendly, family run business. Drop off, pay cash, and pick up a few days later. Resoling two pairs of boots (bottom of sole and back heel) cost me $60 each. I'm not sure how much resoling costs nowadays, but with HCOL and increases in raw material costs, this seems reasonable to me and I am happy to support a local business. read more

I had the heels and fronts of the chypre sandals reinforced bc they are not that great of quality despite the price, Arizona birks completely resold and the bottoms of my Prada sneaks redone (and also the bottom had cracked so he glued it). All this for $110 - $60 for the resole and $25 each pair for the bottom reinforcements. Definitely will come back with more shoes. This place RUINED my new pink suede Nike sneakers (whatever they used left the dye looking sun-bleached in some areas) and just today I am seeing knicks and actual cuts and indentations and dye missing from my olive green Vince Camuto suede booties. From just cleaning them they did this type of damage! They made sure to tuck them away into individual bags so I would not see the extent of what they did. I paid $395 and took several shoes there and I wish I hadn't. Now I'm out the CASH I paid them plus $300+ for the shoes they ruined. Both pair were nearly new. I don't know what tools or chemicals they use but they are not professionals and they do not have the expertise to handle suede at ALL. The suede texture is even ruined - wrinkly and crinkled as if they were dunked in water. And one pair of the other shoes I had the heel and half sole replaced, they had glue smeared on the shoe. Who does this and advertises themselves as a "SHOE DOCTOR". They murdered my shoes, literally. I am so angry about this, but I know I will have no recourse. They do not speak English, take cash only, and will lie and gaslight you to your face. When I confronted the lady about my pink shoes, she had to call someone to translate, and kept denying the damage that was right before my eyes. All she keep saying was "Same. Beautiful. No problem." I have these white Adidas Superstars that got destroyed in New York when I accidentally stepped in some deep puddles and thought they were beyond saving but Shoe Doctor made them look brand spanking new! It's magic. I had tried really hard using Clorox wipes and bleach to turn my gray/brown shoes back to white and it only made a slight difference. They smelled nasty too from mildew but after Shoe Doctor took them in for three days, they removed the bad smells inside the shoes and made the inside and outside look white/new again.
