That is how we found Mr. Coleman Eldridge's Shoe Specialist business in Severna Park, Maryland. In checking the reviews of his business, we saw that it is highly rated. When we took my wife's shoes to the Shoe Specialist, we found Mr. Eldridge to be very friendly, customer focused, professional and efficient. He gave us the price for doing the shoe repair, which was quite reasonable, as well as when the shoes would be ready to be picked up. True to his word, the shoes were ready on the day he said they would be ready for pickup. My wife was very pleased with the work he did on her specially made shoes. As a result, we are now repeat and very satisfied customers at Mr. Eldridge's Shoe Specialist business. As a side note; during my first visit to Mr. Eldridge's business, I discovered during our initial conversation that I knew his relatives. My memory of them before I joined the US Air Force and made it a career, was of a family that was very caring and willing to help others. I am so thankful that I found Shoe Specialist. I had a pair of Frye boots that I wore through the soles, but I don't trust my boots with just anyone. I hadn't found a good shoe repair place since we moved to Maryland, and I liked everything other Yelpers said about the owner's history, friendliness, and, most importantly, skill. I loved everything about my experience here. When I dropped off the shoes, the owner was efficient and warm, clearly explaining what he could do, the costs, his policies, etc. An elderly couple was making copies, and there was something nice about it. When I came to pick the boots up, a lady was wrapping a Christmas gift on the bench (in some super amazing green sparkly paper). Turns out, she was the owner's daughter, helping him out by wrapping a gift. It made the shop seem like more than just a shop. It felt like part of a community. When Coleman brought my boots over, they looked brand-new. He replaced my worn-out sole with one of equal (or, if I'm being honest, better) quality, fixed the liner, and polished them so that they look even better than they did when they were new. I am so thrilled that I found this shop. The work was impeccable, and I felt really good about doing business with someone who clearly cares about his work and the people he works with. read more

My parents used to own a dry cleaners (where I worked, when I was younger). They used this service for their shoe repair. Mr. Coleman always did a wonderful job, and he is such a sweet man. We saw hundreds of shoe that he repaired - putting on new heels, shining up old shoes - and never had a complaint. I am not discounting the experience of the person who left a one star review, but wanted to say that I saw hundreds of shoes come in and go out our door, that Mr. Coleman fixed. Never had an issue. I had a pair of expensive, barely worn shoes in which the soles dry-rotted over time. I took them here to see if there was any hope for them but there was not. The owner was very kind and honest saying that they could not be fixed. I appreciate businesses being upfront on what can and cannot be repaired. I'm disappointed that this is the review that i have to leave considering i've been here a couple times and the owner always seemed so nice and the work done was ok, but today was the final straw. Like i said the work has always been ok to me but when i picked up a couple pairs of boots yesterday from haveing the heels replaced both pairs of my boots had been damaged. One pair was a cheaper pair, and i didn't care too too much because i know things happen. But i had another pair which were of very good quality and when i got them back one of the boots was completely scratched up, and all wrinkled and ruined the leather. When i brought it to the owners attention, i couldn't even get a word in edge wise. He was very condescending and defensive and said it was done from wear. I did not drop them off like this and how would only 1 boot get this way if it was from wear? And why would i pay to have heels replaced on boots that look like this? All he could keep saying is he's been in business 48 years and he's a christian man and laughing and being condescending. I wasn't asking for my money back. It just would have been nice if he could have tried to show some kind of effort and see if he could do something with the damage he did. How would 1 boot be like that? He just kept arguing which makes me feel he knows he was wrong, being defensive before i could even speak. If he's been in business so long, by now he should have better customer service skills. I don't feel the customer is always right, but i know these were damaged at his business. He was acting like just because they weren't some high fashion over the top brand that he didn't have to show me respect. Well, to some people 130$ boots are alot, me included..but its a matter of respect of peoples property and righting the situation. read more
