I have used this place many times to repair bags, zippers, and shoes. But, I came by today to inquire about fixing a pair of boots. There was different man in the store that informed me I should come back some other time because he is only working today and then taking a week off. I told him I didn't need the boots quickly, but he said it didn't matter then if I left the boots today or in a week from now, so just come back later. It was odd. First, not really an issue with the cost-$94 to basically replace heel tips and sole covers on 4 pairs of heels and do sole repair on one male shoe, however, what they did was not what we paid for! They scratched my husband's shoe and left all the residual glue on the shoe-unacceptable. With my heels, they replaced the four pair of heel tips but that's it. When my husband brought them home I took them all out of the bag and could not believe what I saw. He called them back immediately explaining that they didn't do what was paid for and he kept saying, "no you are not looking in the right place". What? My husband took all the shoes back and he said "oh, they forgot to do the soles, and they forgot to clean your shoes before giving them back". How??? If we pay for something then we expect it to be done. He refunded my husband $22 for the job not done with my shoes. He brought back my shoes and I will have to find another cobbler to do the work. He said he will clean up the men's shoes. Also, the scratch to my husbands shoe he said couldn't have been done by them-well, a picture is worth a thousand words because of course I took a photo that morning prior to dropping them off showing that state of each pair and there is NO scratch. So when the photo was shown to him (with date and time stamp) after he said they didn't do it, he had no choice but to correct it. A week later husband picked up his shoes and they cleaned them up and repaired the scratch. Shoe repair places are notorious for overcharging, making up things on the whim, and frankly doing what they want not what the customers want. However, there must be an honest, ethical cobbler out there somewhere, but the Shoe Wiz, isn't it. Look and go elsewhere. read more

Do not go to ShoeWiz in Westlake Village!!! They didn't repair the shoes AND then cussed at me when I brought them back. Here's my experience. I brought a pair of wedges that were both splitting in the back to be glued. It cost $28. I picked up the shoes this last Wednesday, then wore them the next day on Thursday. Within an hour of wearing them, they both came apart again so I called to let the guy know. He told me to bring them back today, which I did. When I got to the store he looked at them, I explained that I called yesterday about bringing them back but he seemed to not understand me because he asked me to pay another $28. I explained to him again that I already paid to have them fixed and JUST picked them up on Wednesday, wore them for an hour yesterday, they came apart and I called immediately. Then he remembered me. As he was writing on a ticket I asked him if he thought that it would keep happening because of the material (I genuinely didn't want to keep going through this if the glue was going to not work) and he got PISSED. You would think that I spit on him and insulted his family. He yelled at me and said something like "lady I'm going to fix it for free so why are you asking" I tried explaining that I didn't want to waste his time or mine if he felt like the material of the shoes couldn't be repaired but I couldn't get a word it. He started yelling over me saying he has never had anyone bring shoes back that weren't properly fixed and that this wasn't his work, it must have been someone else in the shop that repaired them. (I swear it was the same guy that I've dealt with from the beginning, unless he has a twin!) I couldn't believe that he was so upset by a simple question... and that he was treating a customer this way! I asked for my money back then he threw $25 at me and LITERALLY (not exaggerating) told me to "Get the F*CK out and never come back". I left shaking and confused. He must have been having a bad day, but am in disbelief that a business would treat a first time customer or any customer this way. I would recommend going elsewhere. If the shoe material was irreparable, I feel that they should have told me at the initial drop off. My gut tells me it would have kept happening. Pre pandemic I had several shoes repaired by the owner who was so nice and professional. I am a competitive ballroom dancer and he would replace my heels, etc as needed. Today I came in with three pairs that needed new heels (I have them from the manufacturer Aida) and plastic heel protector caps. The man who now owns the store was immediately irritated with me and as I tried to explain how the heels / caps worked he told me that he is the professional and knows how to do his job and be would need to shave the heels to make them fit. He also wanted $35 a pair - which I was willing to pay even though it's an easy job. He kept telling me I was wrong and the heels weren't right he would have to make his own. I kindly tried explaining they are components that came with the shoes from the maker. I immediately apologized to him for insulting him (I didn't). He was rude and began raising his voice. I brought a pair of tan Ugg boots to try and clean off some salad dressing that had spilled on them. Was advised the cleaning may change the color, but I agreed to the $45 prepaid charge. Came in to pick them up and he showed me that he couldn't get the stain out. Only wanted to refund me $20. I said no and that he should have called me to let me know that he couldn't do the repair. He reluctantly gave me my $45 back, but told me not to come back to his shop!!!! Who does that? I certainly won't be back here again. read more

I really was hopping to give this store a five star review but unfortunately I cannot with the level of work the owner has produced. I went in for a shoe cleaning for my Timberlands and suede Chelsea Clark's. Got quoted $70 which is fine since I understand they're a bit more delicate shoes to work with. A week later I pick my shoes back up and find scratch marks all over my timberland boots and dirt all over the laces and behind the laces. I regret taking my shoes to this business. So now instead of getting nice cleaned shoes he damaged them and barley cleaned them. On top of all that he missed a crucial step, he did not apply mink oil which restores the original suede feel. So now I'm going to have to go buy some myself and apply it. My suede Clark's look exactly the same as when I had them dropped off and the bottom of the shoes is still filthy. It seems as if he made little to no effort to clean my shoes and didn't even bother removing the laces. When I pay $70 for shoe cleaning I expect them to be beautiful when I get them back. Not a lazy 10 minute scrub that damages my boots. Unfortunately I cannot recommend that anyone gets their shoes cleaned here. I am not sure about this mans other abilities but I will never be returning here as a simple cleaning has turned into frustrating mess that I will be cleaning up on my own. read more

I went in today to have my purse re-fixed because it broke the first time I got home and tried it. It broke within a half an hour. I went in today. II talked to the guy who's usually in the back thank goodness! He doesn't run the front. He ended up yelling at me so I yelled back I could not believe that someone who works in a business would act angry, ridiculous attitude. So condescending. You don't treat people who have been your customers like that. What's a bummer is I paid money. day. He fixed the strap to my purse. I put it on and halfway through the day it broke. Update! Wow, after writing the review, I posted I read multiple reviews that had almost the exact same experience with this, Hispanic man, Eddie. This man has no business working with other customers. He has verbally assaulted several customers, and almost every customer had the same problem, the glue Not sticking after shoes were repaired here! Yet, this man berated me and told me I was lying. Read all reviews before going to this establishment. Original review: I was just verbally assaulted by the worker at this establishment who goes by the name of Eddie. I have been to this establishment several times. The owner is a sweet, lovely gentleman. He used to have a shop in Beverly Hills where I used to take my shoes, and he has been nothing but professional and kind in the past. This worker named Eddy was rude the minute I walked in. I gave him a pair of shoes that they had fixed in the past, and the soul was already coming apart. He told me that I was lying and that the soles were the original soles, which is absolutely 100% not true!!. I told him I wasn't going to argue with him, and I asked when the owner would be in. He yelled at me and threw a roll of masking tape. When I asked him for the phone number of the owner, he refused to give it to me. Thus, I am writing this review. I'm not one to typically leave poor reviews, but I had a very unfortunate experience at Shoe Wiz. I brought a pair of Saint Laurent boots in about a week ago to have three things repaired. (1) Heels were starting to detach from sole - Harry said he could fill them in with some glue; (2) Reattach straps - Harry said he could re-glue the straps and they would look good as new; (3) General cleanup - Harry said he could fill in small scuff marks with filler and make them look good as new. One week later, I call and ask about the boots. They said they were done - okay, great. I show up to pick them up, and look at the boots. They hadn't been touched! Harry wasn't there today, but his associate said that Harry did the work. I'm still dumbfounded. I asked the guy if it LOOKS like anything that I asked for was fixed. He gave me a BS answer. Nothing was done and they expected me to walk away with a smile on my face. I had to go as far as filing a dispute with my credit card company, successfully. I am taking my business elsewhere. This place is not ethical or honest and frankly - what a waste of time... I just came back from ShoeWiz and I'm still in absolute disbelief of the way I was mistreated and yelled at by the guy who works there. I had only dealt with the owner in the past who is a pleasant man but never with this Hispanic man who's the repair person. Right before me, there was a quiet male customer who was bringing a pair of shoes back which glue that apparently had not lasted, and the guy yelled at him, told him he was a liar and that there is no way he is the one who did the work, and sent him back home with the shoes. Apparently he is very sensitive about his work and becomes very aggressive when someone brings shoes back. Had I known that, I would've waited for the owner to be there. Anyway, I was bringing back a pair of tall suede boots they had added some elastic to on the calf area so they could stretch and fit me. Unfortunately, they had not stretched enough so I wanted them to add more elastic (the owner had even suggested I bring them back if they did not fit). His first comment or question was why did I buy a pair of boots that did not fit me? I could not believe his question. I politely answered that I was feeling judged but that I was gonna answer and told him that they did use to fit me but I had gained weight. His response to that was that I was lying and that there is no way those boots could've ever fit me!!!! I was in shock. I calmly told him it was none of his business and gave him an analogy of me bringing a dress to a tailor and the tailor judging me for buying a dress that does not fit me. I also mentioned how badly he treated the man in front of me and he called me nosy and asked why did I care. At the end I did tell him he seems to be very unhappy and he should be happier and nicer to people, which set him off even more and told me to call the owner because he was NOT gonna fix those boots. I am gonna call the owner (Henry) later today to discuss and I'm gonna highly recommend this man stays in the back of the shop and away from customers. I've never been treated so poorly by a business so I had to write this review to warn others. Update: I went back to talk to Harry who is the owner and he was so nice. Luckily the angry worker wasn't there so we could freely talk. He apologized and is very aware of the guy's issues and attitude and felt very sorry about it. Sounds like he cannot replace him and needs him. I felt bad for him. He recommended to go when he is at the store which is usually in the afternoons. I decided to use this service based on the good Yelp reviews....I must have caught him on a couple of bad days as I wasn't impressed. Firstly when he gave me a quote to reheel my leather boots he said $20, then changed it quickly to $30, then when I got home and checked the receipt I had been charged $30.75. So he added $10.75 to his original quote. Two days later I went to pick up my boots. I gave him a description and the ticket he had written out with the corresponding number to the boots. He spent about 10 mins looking for them, at which point I was starting to wonder if he had lost them! They are my favourite Italian leather boots which I purchased in Rome so I was panicking. In the end he asked me to go in the back of the shop with him to see if I could find them. Luckily I did! On neither occasion did he greet me when I entered the shop or say thank you for my service. I think I'll keep on going to the shoe repair store in Westfield Topanga Mall. I have received much better service there. read more

If you care about craftsmanship -- and want to discuss the details of potential work, this is not the place to go. The gentleman behind the counter was quickly exasperated w any question I had and leveled me with: "if you don't trust me, then go down the street." I have never used this repair shop before (sorry, don't know your work to trust you yet) and wanted to confirm my item would appear close to the same once it was repaired & returned -- and if not, what to expect. After some continued unpleasantness, I got a Quote for using a machine stitch & plastic thread for $16. And a Quote for handstitching $65. Big difference. I know hand stitching takes more time, but also seemed he really doesn't care to do such. So I opted for the machine stitch. When requested to pay up front, he said the charge was $25. I said but you quoted $16 or $65. According to him (when I asked), the time I took up discussing how my item would be repaired increased the charge. I would say it was an "exasperated-man" charge. This shop owner does not seem keen on building relationships w new clients or being questioned about the work. I get it can be a pain to talk it thru w everyone. But offering options and explaining the results seems part of any good working relationship until you build trust. I am in the service industry as well -- I seek what I would give. I will not be using nor returning to this shop, and my future recommendations (as I use repair shops a lot in our line of work) will go elsewhere. I brought a computer bag to be reinforced. Paid $40 and it broke within two months. The owner resistantly said he fix it. Thought I'd give it a second try. Brought an expensive purse to have a screw replaced. Owner charged me $18 to replace it. It broke again twice. The second time I went in the other guy was at the front was extremely rude. The third time I went back and told the owner it broke again he said it had been fixed. I showed him it had broken and he shrugged his shoulder and told me he'd give me $10 back. No apologies, no concern about his work. There are too many options out there that do quality work. Don't give him your business. read more

I got bleach on some nice shoes and went in to see it they could polish them. They recommended that the be dyed. I was a bit hesitant at $45, but whoa ... was it worth it ... they are like brand new shoes. I found out that these guys can fix all kinds of stuff for you and I am even having them repair an expensive Louis Vuitton handbag. Harry is the greatest! I found this place using Yelp - went on and met the owner because I was handing him a delicate pair of $1200 Christian Louboutin! First, he made me feel so comfortable about leaving my shoes with him, assuring me that they will be very well taken (and they were)! Second, he spent 35 minutes of his time making me feel comfortable about leaving my shoes with him. Third, he did a lot of work within four hours, so that I would be able to pick up my shoes that same day and take it with me for the weekend. Fourth, his work was great! I have always been satisfied by the work he does. If you need any of your leather goods fixed he's your guy. He is also an expert in custom work, he is currently working on a custom alligator purse that I'm getting made for my wife which is costing me a less than a fraction of the price of what I would pay at a high end store. The owner was not present when I came to collect three pairs of sandals I had brought in for repairs. The man serving me had an aggressive attitude right off the bat. He argued with me about work that I had paid for but had not been done. The work that had been done on one of the pairs was so poor that even he acknowledged that it needed to be re-done, but only after I had stood my ground. He then blamed the poor work on his boss and told me to take my business "down the road" to another store! This man was angry and rude, and very hostile. For these reasons alone, I will not go back. The quality of the work done was poor and was corrected only after I pushed back. I left the store shaken and upset. read more

The Hispanic man behind the counter (I don't know if he is the owner or an employee) was the ruddest and most unprofessional service person I have ever encountered. When I proceeded to ask him some questions to get a better understanding of how he would fix my purse he kept walking away from me, and turning his back on me in disgust.
