Haven't visited the restaurant in three years and the new owners have really done a nice job of updating the decor. Especially like the addition of local artwork, as I am an artist. Had the black bean veggie burger and it was the best one I ever had! They make great drinks, too. They were very focused on social distancing and cleanliness. First of all, we were greeted or not greeted with a smart comment about breaching the invisible line of demarcation at the hostess desk, by a tall guy named Jeremy. I guess he wanted me to stand back about three feet from where i was standing. It was just after 11 am and they had just opened. So there was no-one standing there but us. That was strange.... Next we were seated and we were taken care of promptly with our water and our order. We were told by our waitress that there was new kitchen staff and it may take a little longer than usual. No problem, we were not in a hurry. We did have a bit of a wait and then We were served with the Orzo side salads that were so fresh tasting and very good! Then things started to turn bad. The food arrived. It was awful. I was not able to eat all of mine, and if we hadn't been so hungry, noone would have eaten theirs. The portion size of the rueben was ridiculously small and the sauces were watery and bland and honestly awful. I ordered a cranberry turkey sandwich that was the nastiest tasting sandwich i ever ate. There was no cranberry, just some pale pink sauce over turkey that tasted old on a croissant . There were two of these with french fries. The fries were good, but i couldn't eat both croissants Because of the taste and the old poultry smell. I ate one and left the other. A table mate ordered same, but with Orzo salad. Another ordered the Reuben, that was small and flat, No substance and a dab of dressing that was watery and drippy. The bread was smaller than my hand and this was $13. Another ordered the veggie wrap which was probably a safe choice, but was unremarkable , with chips that were over cooked. The kitchen sent out another side of Orzo and this batch was nothing like the first and had no taste, just like the pineapple nut pudding that tasted only of Jello instant vanilla pudding. Why was it called Pineapple? The pecans soaked in the pudding added nothing to the pudding flavor wise either. Our water was refilled frequently by the waitress and the rude host Jeremy. This is where it gets worse.... When we were asked how the food was, we told Jeremy, that it was really not good. His reply......well, we will hit it out of the park next time. To which my table mate says, There wont be a next time. Then Jeremy says oh well, thanks for your money! We all looked at each other and said, did he really say that? Yes he did. And not only did he act like an ass to us, he went to the kitchen and was relaying the conversation so loudly that we could hear him in the dining room. Then Jeremy comes back to our table as we were explaining what was going on with the waitress and paying our bills. He began to make a scene standing in the center isle of the place and yelling at us about how somehow the terrible food was our fault i guess. The point is he was embarrassing us and humiliating himself, however it seemed to make him proud. He yelled at us about how we should write a review, but said he was here and its all on camera and he knows the truth. WTF? Im not sure but his bizarre behavior was really threatening and all because we have an honest answer about the food. After this ordeal i visited the ladies room, which was very dirty, walls, doors, floors. The back door of the restaurant was the nastiest door i think i have ever seen, and in an eating establishment no less! The kitchen walls as seen from the walk back from the bathroom weren't any cleaner than the bathroom. Do yourself a favor and Do Not EAT HERE! . Jeremy should have been fired on the spot however, seems they were so short handed that they were allowing his behavior and turning a blind eye and ear i guess. Not a great way to treat customers and have repeat business, We will NEVER be back! Dont waste your money and ruin your day! read more

I am mortified. If I could give a zero, I would. I have family in from out of town and because we were here a few months ago & it was good, I brought them here. Tonight was bad. First, we had a back room all to ourselves, which was very warm in Temperature. Then, The waitress was nice but not on the ball. After she took our orders she brought rolls ( not warm). I waited a good 5 minutes to ask someone, anyone, to bring us utensils. Finally I got up & stuck my head in the kitchen area to ask for them. We ordered specials for 2; which included soup or salad, entree & dessert. The 2 steaks medium rare were very large in size. No argument on portion. However, the steak was so grisly that it was difficult to cut, much less eat. The knifes didn't help, as the butter knives were sharper than the provided steak knives, although not by much. It was a battle to try and eat any of it. Parm Pork chops were "ok", not very flavorful at all. The Bourbon chicken over pasta was passable. If there wasn't any sauce on the small piece of chicken, you'd of had plain naked pasta. She never returned for refills on water, tea or soda after food was delivered. I said something about the steaks to the waitress bc we finally just gave up trying to eat it & she apologized, but only removed one steak dinner of $24 off the bill, instead of both. We didn't say anything bc we didn't want to make an issue of it bc We will not be back. I asked for the dessert to go. She advised n/p. She gave us the apple pie in a styrofoam container. She never said it came with ice cream... it would get all over the car as we live 45 minutes away. so we took a few bites of the half melted ice cream & cold apple pie ( not even warmed up) & left it. Very bland apple dessert. I kept apologizing to my visiting family about bringing them there as I felt badly the meal was not acceptable. This was our first and only night eating out & it was not a pleasant experience. By the time we left we were practically sweating. I do not recommend going there. Rather, stick to Georgia & go to Michaellee's, Enricos, Dans Grill in Blairsville or Brothers, the Brasstown Resort & Spa in Young Harris , or for a good steak, Daniels steakhouse in Hiawasee. Nothing fancy but excellent steaks. Sorry to be so critical but def NOT HAPPY customers! Will not return. read more

Delicious! We took Yelpers advice and got the crab and artichoke dip it was awesome! I also got the Turkey sand on croissant and it was good but the best was the white chocolate bread pudding only problem was that it was not enough (maybe that's a good thing). The lobster bisque was recommended and was top notch as well. We loved that the fare was upper crust but it was low key dining and our kids fit right in! The service was 5 star! We drove an hour to come here for the All you can eat crab legs... they were so so at best... but the worst part is that we paid $55. Each and the service was TERRIBLE!! It was NOT busy so there was no reason for it...We actually saw the owner sitting at a table with customers chatting while we sat there waiting to be served... a four top came and actually got up and left because no one even noticed they were there... there was another man sitting at the bar that had no service either... so disappointing!! Being from out of town, there didn't seem to be anyplace to eat, unless you wanted a selection of fried foods. We decided on this place because of the prime rib Friday special. Neither one of us got that. I needed up with lamb chops, potato, and some lobster bisque. All of it was really good. The wife ended up with ribeye, potato, and salad. Both plates were cleared. It was actually one of the best meals we have eaten out in a while. No complaints, excellent food. I'm glad we stopped here. No heartburn, no queasiness, just satisfaction. Visiting a friend here in Murphy she wanted to take us here for supper. They have an extensive menu with lots of delicious sounding options. We each ordered something different and everyone was very pleased with the quality and the quantity of each item. My Reuben was not the best I've ever had but it was good nonetheless. My wife and I were in town and wanted a good lunch. We have wanted to try Shoebooties for a while now but just never got around to it since we're only here once a year. Boy, we didn't know what we were missing! I ordered the seafood lasagna and my wife ordered the seafood chowder. Both were excellent! The seafood lasagna had shrimp, crab and salmon in it and the chowder had big chunks of fish and crab. After the main course we had desert, chocolate pecan fudge cake! It came in a small shot glass and it was delicious. It was pretty crowded at lunch time but they had one person designated just for refilling drinks. We will be back again! read more

I wish this place wasn't so "Hit or Miss." We had a party of four on a Friday night at 2000. They weren't that busy. We drew the short straw and got one of the worst waitresses I have ever dealt with. She was forgetful and nonexistent. (And that is saying how I feel politely.) Two of the people at our table drink and they had problems getting more. how is this possible? I thought that is the main priority. Keep the alcohol pouring to boost profits. The other thing is that if you don't want an item, let's say soup, they will gladly take a dollar off of your bill. What if you really want the soup and your waitress is too stupid to bring it? WTF! They just take a dollar off of the bill. Very disappointed with this visit. I guess we will take a break from patronizing them for a while. We read reviews before coming to Shoebooties and I think we expected too much. My husband ordered medium rare Ribeye steak and it was well done and covered with a very sweet sauce. Wow this place has surpassed my expectations for service after my initial visit. The second time I came in, the manager immediately recognized me and told me how happy she was that I gave them another chance. The waitress who had waited on me also stopped by the table to apologize for my first visit and made sure everything was going well this time. I brought two friends with me the second time and we were treated like queens. Every item was promptly brought out, and our waiter was extremely charming. We also had the manager and the other waitress waiting on our table. I think they were making sure I enjoyed my second visit because they even threw in free dessert! I will say that the all you can eat crab came out in large portions and I was stuffed about my third plate, but they continued to offer more even though we had stayed beyond their closing time. It wasn't the best crab I'd ever had, in fact it actually needed the butter they provided, but the service was amazing. The lobster bisque that I finally got to taste was good, but more of a tomato base, so it wasn't exactly what I expected, but I ordered it again tonight (my third visit) and enjoyed it enough lol Tonight I had prime rib and it was delicious, I couldn't even finish it, but I'm excited to eat my leftovers! The crab dip was alright, but the green chips that came with it were amazing. The white chocolate bread pudding was epic and don't be fooled by the "dessert shooter" idea; these desserts are regular sized! I have now had my ShoeBooties Cafe experience and am only saddened by the fact that I will not be able to darken their door as a regular. Can't eat their everyday. Papa is a rolling stone they say and i got to keep ramblin on, mostly because I don't live in Murphy, NC. If I did? The unbelievably pleasant and attentive staff would undoubtedly know my name after awhile due to my frequency of visiting their establishment, not due to the fact that I have an incredibly endearing personality. The food and drinks arrived quickly and the Top Shelf Long Island Iced Tea has the smooth punch of a jackhammer in a tuxedo. The IPA on tap was a delicious gullet pleaser as well. The food? Next Level. Baked Crab Spinach & Artichoke Dip was outstanding and someone apparently stole my grandmother's turkey and presented it to me in an amazing Turkey croissant sandwich with a parmesan bacon sauce. Absolutely splendiferous. If in Murphy I highly suggest you spend your eating moments locked in an warm embrace with the menu of Shoe Booties. You shall not regret this decision.
