Went here for my wife's birthday yesterday and I can believe I didn't know this place existed, great food, great service all reasonably priced , every one in our group loved it, I wish I would have got the name of the woman working the door , I'll assume she was the manager and she was awesome! Great experience all around , highly recomended

Location: Forest Hills NYC Service: Good. The person assigned to cook was funny and tried to make it entertaining. Ambiance: Clean. Not a lot of people when we went. Food: Teriyaki Steak: for me it was okay nothing super special about it. Hubby chose: chicken Teriyaki. So the chef gave us soup and some veggie salad to start and cook the rest in front of us. Great experience seeing the way the chef cook the food. The flaming trick and all haha and for making us laugh. Over all we had fun and the food tasted good. Can't complain.

Simply amazing . It was my mothers first time and my daughters as well. They both enjoyed the experience . Food and drinks were amazing. Will definitely come back.

Absolutely no complaints about this place. I first dined here during the pandemic when it was only outdoor eating so I didn't get the full experience, however the food was good. I came back for the full experience. The table was just my family & I. You get the soup and salad appetizer. I also got chicken wing appetizer which consisted of 4 pieces of fried chicken with the spicy sauce on the side. The chicken was fresh, hot, and very crispy. Then I got the chicken and shrimp hibachi which comes with vegetables, rice, and noodles.

Food was good here. Had a great time with my daughter. The service was great, we had a combination of sushi and Habachi dishes and they all delicious. The Habachi salmon dish was able to feed two... we were stuffed. The ambience was ok... busy night. Live, love, and laugh -Sha

I went here for early dinner, connecting with family near JFK and the food was fantastic. Had the Hibachi Steak and Chicken. Cokes with rice, we got the fried version which was surprisingly light and delicious. We asked for the steak medium and it melts in your mouth. Great food, friendly ambience and pleasant staff. Definitely recommend trying the place.

Definitely one of the best hibachi restaurant I have been to. Actually this was my first one. I took my wife here for Valentine's day a couple of years ago, The experience was awesome, we enjoyed the chef cooking the food right in front of us. Rice with chicken and eggs being chopped up into a heart shape , was really cool. Don't forget about the fire show. At showgun you get the full hibachi experience. Me and my wife chicken fried rice was really good ,she also had a dragón roll to go with her meal. Service was good, ambiance looked great.

Friday night dinner: Beer, Hot Sake, Edamame, Denny's Roll, and Steak Bento Box...DELICIOUS!

We love the sushi and hibachi at Shogun and eat here almost every week. I'm a big fan of their green tea and found out that I can buy that same brand two doors down at Tokyo Market- it is delicious! I'm currently enamored of the Denny's roll and opt to garnish it with eel sauce instead of mayonnaise. B. enjoys the sushi à la carte and the Bento boxes, too. We can't say enough about the service and welcoming we receive every time from the staff to the owner. Lastly, watch for this restaurant during the next season of Billions. Go!

The service was on par. We walked in and it didn't look like a hibachi place from the entrance. It looked like a sushi restaurant from the entrance as the hibachi part was in the attached room. They ask where you would like to sit and of course we said hibachi room. Just like the saying goes, when in Rome do what the Roman's do. So when at a hibachi place, you're there for the experience. Anyways, we were brought to get hibachi and given the menu while seated. It took awhile for the chef to get situated and cook for us, but once he did everything was good. They give you fried noodles that are sautéed in sauce for free. After that I believe your meal should come with salad with ginger sauce and clear soup. Both are really good. Believe me when they give you large portions so no need to order other things off the menu. I got the udon with spicy seafood. Yes, it was a bit spicy and I liked it. I also ordered this red cocktail and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. But if you really like cherry juice you should order it, if not don't bother. So, I heard in the ladies room people were rating the place to each other and they said we'll come back. So there you go, perhaps one of these days I'll be back too.

My husband is/was a hibachi virgin. He was on his way home from work and I suggested he pop his hibachi cherry and give it a try. It did not disappoint by any means. Let's put it this way, he's ready to go back and make this one of our go to's in Forest Hills. I grew up going to Hibachi. Benihana was kind of mainstay in South Florida for birthdays when you're a kid. Maybe it was an affluent Jewish thing, but we always went on the occasion, and it was so much fun, especially if you get a chef who's in the right mood and preforms for the dining audience at his table. On this night at Shogun, our chef was on fire (literally and figuratively). He played off our energy and did all the fun tricks that hibachi chef's like to do, such a flip the shrimp off the grill and into a guest's mouth (or at least try.) Lol. It was just the two of us seated at a table for 8 with others we did not know, which is half the fun of going to a hibachi restaurant. The service and the food were great. (And, FYI, we actually went to Benihana in Manhattan the other night for my birthday and to relive a moment of my childhood, and Shogun is as good, if not better than the one-time leader of this art.) I had the shrimp and lobster and Jayson had the Filet Mignon and shrimp. The meat literally melted in your mouth. I was a little nervous about it because I had dental work and needed soft foods that night, so I opted not to eat it. But Jayson gave me a bite of his steak and I was in heaven. It was perfectly cooked, and very tender. My shrimp and lobster were excellent. The food is big proportions. We ended up taking some home, which became a midnight treat. It was even good as leftovers and we don't normally eat leftovers. For his first hibachi experience, this was an excellent choice. And, it's reasonably priced that we'll be coming back on a regular basis.

Our bill for 6 adults, 3 kids and 2 infants.

Ask the Community - Shogun Hibachi

    Are they halal?

    No it's hibachi and sushi

    Is this a halal restaurant?

    It is a Japanese restaurants

Is this a good spot for a large group? (12-15ppl)?

I think each hibachi table holds about 8 so you might need 2 tables. The space is certainly large enough and the staff is very accommodating. Just call ahead and make a res for a group that large.

Instead, I was served a cheeseburger with french fries, which was completely different from what I ordered. When I brought this to the staff's attention, the response was dismissive and argumentative, rather than focused on resolving the issue. Rather than escalate the situation, I chose to leave. Although I had already paid, I did not feel comfortable staying or continuing the conversation. This was especially disappointing because I have been a loyal customer for years, long before the new ownership. I used to visit frequently, and even now, I go out of my way, often 40 minutes, to come here when I am in Queens dropping off my kids. As someone who does not eat cheeseburgers, receiving that order was both frustrating and avoidable with basic attention to detail. I truly hope the new management takes steps to improve both service and communication moving forward. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning. This is coming from a person that has been coming to this place for years. It's sad.

As…read moresomeone with a severe gluten allergy, I was really excited to try out this place because I saw a lot of reviews online praising for the way the staff members handle food allergies. I went in right around opening time (noon) on the weekend - the outside is a bit unassuming and partially covered by awning but the inside was brightly lit and the lady at the register (I wish I asked for her name) was incredibly warm and welcoming. She was super enthusiastic about helping me identify which rolls would be safe for me to have. They also have a grab-and-go section where certain popular rolls and sides have already been prepped, but as long as you're willing to wait, the chefs are more than happy to make a fresh batch of a specific roll, even if there are already packed portions of the same exact roll in the grab-and-go section. I thought this was a really thoughtful approach to appeasing all customers. I ended up going with a Philadelphia roll and a Mango Tango specialty roll, which contained a combination of salmon and tuna, mango, avocado, and cucumbers. The ingredients were very fresh and I think the prices are quite reasonable. Without even asking, I was given gluten-free tamari sauce instead of normal soy sauce. The combination of the restaurant's extensive menu and how kind the staff were made this a really wonderful experience - I was very satisfied with my order and definitely see myself coming back again and again whenever I have a sushi craving. The only downside is that this is really more so a grab-and-go spot in general, as there were only two small tables in the entire store. As a heads up, they also prefer to take cash instead of card.
