However, I did indoor dining for the first time I believe the servers name was viví but she was absolutely a pleasure. Honestly best sushi spot in the Woodhaven/HB area. The fish is actually fresh and the rice is done right based on the dish you order. The portions are hefty, they don't go sauce crazy to mask flavors and pickup is simple. U-Me never fails me. I've tried so many sushi restaurants over the years and this place has been my constant through and through. It's always clean and neat even though the store is small. My friends and I went this morning right when they were opening. The service was still incredibly fast even though they had just opened. We got the 3 rolls lunch special as well as a katsu box. For appetizers we had rock shrimp and shrimp shumai which was so so good. I'll definitely be ordering the rock shrimp again. I get combo rolls but struggle to find the taste differences between the meats like salmon, tuna and yellowtail. They are good, but taste pretty much the same. (I'd give this place a decent 3.8..) My co-worker and I were originally going to the different restaurant nearby, but it wasn't open, so we came here for lunch. I was not expecting anything good from a non-authentic Japanese restaurant, but this restaurant was worse than I expected. I ordered sashimi, and it didn't come with rice. sashimi plate came with cucumber. Odd. Sashimi quality is very low that I lost my appetite. I can get better sashimi at the grocery stores in Japan. Today is Friday . It's lent . I need to consume fish and thought about ordering from here as its close by . I had passed by it last week and was curious . Here's my rundown on my first impression . 1. I ordered pickup and the initial phone call was answered with " hello" not even hello " insert business name " I felt like I was talking to a young kid who had no idea what was going on and what rolls they carried . He kept me on the phone while I heard him asking the chef questions such as " what's in an Alaskan roll?" Bad first impression already. After this ordeal a girl took the phone and she seemed more knowledgeable and retook my order . 2. I ordered 4 rolls and two miso soup and fried squid . If you want to save money don't get the fried squid . It was a measly sad order of five pieces of shrunken squid for $5.95 that had no taste .The rolls are ok at best. Summary : subpar sushi that is overpriced . You get a free 2 liter soda if you spend $50 . Who spends $50 on takeout sushi ? I've been to places in BK where I've spent $25 for MORE sushi . Went for dinner yesterday and still feeling the aftereffects of the resulting food coma. Service was friendly and efficient - Pablo is always nearby if you need anything, but never hovering over us. I loved the ambience of the restaurant - clean and relatively quiet, it was easy to hold a conversation without having to raise my voice to be heard. For apps, we ordered the beef negimaki, ika fried squid, and fried bananas - it was clear that everything was made fresh as our fried apps had definitely come straight from the fryer. We also ordered the flavored iced tea. I tried both the passionfruit and mango. I personally preferred the mango flavor as the flavor was stronger and sweeter but both were very refreshing! For entrees, I got the rock n' roll (if you love salmon skin, GET THIS) and the Mexican roll. My friends all got different hibachi dinners (salmon, steak, filet mignon) and a couple also ordered rolls. Everyone really liked their food, and the portion sizes are so generous that it was difficult to finish everything. But of course, we have a separate stomach for dessert, so we ordered chocolate and matcha fried ice creams. NO REGRETS. I really liked the batter used for the fried ice cream - just slightly sweet to complement the ice cream inside, with a light and fluffy inner texture and a great crispy exterior. TL;DR Really great food at an amazing price point (all this food for ~$30 a person!!!!). All in all, great experience at U-Me Sushi! I look forward to going back! read more
