    Chow mein ????
    Willem B.

Beyond poopy, sloppy , bleached looking chow mein. No broccoli, no carrots ... are you ready to see the photo? UNREAL. Should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. It looked like it came in a frozen blob bleach gelatin. Oh and NO NOODLES.... No noodles with CHOW MEIN. I love it. Fully recommend you blow your own head off before ordering from here

Really nice staff and really fast delivery. Disgusting over cooked chewy stringy general chicken with chunks of cartilage. I ordered extra sauce and didn't get it. I ordered and paid for hot oil and didn't get it. The crab Rangoon were over cooked and really paste like bland because I had no hot oil or general sauce to dip in so I just threw them away. My coworker loved her fried rice and shrimp so they get 3 stars even though the garbage can ate my dinner.

Great option for a pre-concert meal. I don't think there is much competition in the way of Chinese cuisine in the neighborhood, so it seems to do a steady business. The menu offers plenty of options. I noticed they also offer delivery and catering services. Service was extremely fast. Barely any wait at all for our food. I tend to grade places on their spring rolls, and the salt content of their sauces, so this explains the 3 stars. They also used way too much raw American celery in my dish. Overall, it was a good stop before a concert since most of the other places in the area are overcrowded and overpriced. BYOB is always a plus!

So good. The best Singapore rice noodle I have ever had in Pittsburgh. I used to love this dish in Tennessee and have tried so many Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh. But this dish here tastes most like to the one I really love. Egg young is good too! Both have decent portion . Great taste for both. Highly recommended.

Decent Chinese restaurant. Been here a few times now. Prices are very responsible considering being right by the area, along with portion sizes.

It was shockingly not busy until about 630pm and they open at 4. There is no valet, just street parking. They provided complimentary edamame which had a great little spicy kick. I ordered the sour, the yuzu gave it a nice fresh citrus taste. My husband had a scotch and Coke. We decided to order the experience which began with a tartar (salmon, tuna and yellowtail on a bed of tuna). Amazing. We then had a two piece sashimi with jalapeño and crispy potato in a sauce that was similar to Italian dressing. This was our favorite of the entire night. Next was a shrimp tasting. It had shaved cucumber and seaweed in a light brown sauce, perhaps a mirin. It was okay, like a cold miso. We then had a dish I had only seen videos of called Chawanmushi. It was like an eggy flan served hot. My husband was not a fan but I was. Then was the first nigiri which the bartender was kind enough to split for us. It included 4 light pieces of sushi. After that there was a cold infused tomato palate cleanser and the second nigiri with "darker" fish. It was all delicious. After that was a fatty tuna hand roll (like a sushi taco) which was amazing as well. And last for the savory items, a soft shell crab which was very, very good. The yellow sauce tasted like the yellow of a potato salad with tastes that mimicked mayo, mustard and pickles. We ordered another round of drinks and I had a dirty martini which they called The New 32. The last item is the red bean dessert but we opted to order more food and had the Treasure Box ($78) which had 9 different sashimis. There were a few repeats from the experience portion but we were happy to have the first sashimi item again. And last, we had the red bean dessert as well as a complimentary tiramisu dessert for the husband's birthday. The bill was just over $300 which was expected for the location, amount of food and overall quality and experience.

The restaurant is located right on Mt Washington, giving a good view of the city. The interior looks appropriate for a sushi restaurant, but due to the massive windows lacked the darker vibe of other upscale restaurants. I've been to hundreds of sushi spots and the interior was merely average. Otaru seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to either commit to being an upscale restaurant or relax and simply be a quality one. The wait staff were kind and prompt, but at times appeared they may be less experienced. We were brought hot (paper) towels and edamame. We ordered the fried tako balls as an app. I personally don't prefer tako and found it very dense and chewy and the overall flavors were too undeveloped. The hand rolls were well filled and were easy to eat due to being more of a taco configuration than a true hand roll. The nori was not too tough, lending to a pleasant experience. The nigiri and sashimi were also good. The nigiri were good, but not as elevated as another upscale sushi spot in the city. They were still very good, but not quite excellent. They either need a bit more development or to be relaxed and served as two per order and the price adjusted slightly upward. If you take one thing from this review, let it be this. The yellowtail jalepeno cups were astonishing. By far this was the most well executed dish I have ever eaten and the best sushi dish I've had. They appear to be wrapped in toasted sesame seed wrappers. If you've had Hapi mixed crackers they give the same great flavor of the "fried chicken" pieces but with yuzu vinaigrette and the umami of the fish. I will certainly be back solely because of how good they were.

My wife and I went for dinner on a Friday and had no wait (though they do allow online reservations). Service was pleasant and leisurely (which we liked) and the place wasn't too crowded. Our favorite item was the veggie tempura appetizer. It had 7-8 pieces, all different veggies, and all nice and crispy. The seaweed salads were good too. We shared three rolls - tuna avocado, salmon skin, and yellowfin tuna. All were good, particularly the yellowfin, which had nice soft fish. In general, the rolls were a bit heavier on the rice and lighter on the fish than I might have hoped, especially the salmon skin. Presentation was all very nice. My wife had the flan for dessert and gave it a thumbs up. Overall a good place, though I'm not sure we'd come back if we weren't otherwise going to Station Square.

I wouldn't really call this a supper club to be honest but the place definitely carries a house music bar vibe and the back bar area and seating is very dimly lit, perfect for cozying up and enjoying a drink late night. The ladies' room was so dark, I mistook it for a storage area because I could only make out a white ladder in the corner that was being used as cute shelving. The place is seat yourself. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. We were so thankful that the large plate fried chicken came with a side salad to offer some respite from the heaviness of the fried dishes. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink.
