Loved shogun, the cool show they put on to cook your food is so awesome. The food and the fried rice and eggs were also amazing

However, Sushi is limited and if you like the Hibachi experience, this is the premiere spot! Ask for Lacy! She's a super fun, seasoned server who's never late to the table with a smile and any food item! She's excellent with suggestions and getting creative! You can order right off the menu and actually- create your own rolls! They will add to- take away, customize, etc... The ambiance is fun, and family friendly! The bar features signature cocktails and a nice variety of warm and cold sake! There is also a mocktail menu! On the appetizer list- you won't wanna pass up the "Creamy Monster"!- it's a signature dish, consisting of Crabstick, cream cheese, & asparagus tempura battered & fried topped with four sauces. The staff is super friendly and the sushi chefs are prompt and amazing! For a fun show, the. Hibachi never disappoints, and is great for date night or a family setting! YUGE PORTIONS! Great! My wife and I go there for lunch sushi frequently. The food is always top quality! It is a small place that offers great food and service. The dinner experience is great too. We will go for dinner on occasion but lunch sushi or tempura is a normal thing for us and we are never disappointed!! read more

Shogun was such a great restaurant! Perfect for family dinner night out, date night or a special occasion. There is a sushi and bar area as you enter, and in the dining area, there are several hibachi areas to watch your food be prepared and to eat when finished. My hubs and I both got the chicken, veggies and stir fry rice. We loved it 8/10. Prior to the main course we had edamame, beef, broth, soup, and ginger salad. We enjoyed all of it. Very delicious. Next time we will try the sushi. The food was good and it was nice to have entertainment while we waited. The hibachi cook makes it fun and entertaining to watch must try place. read more

What a joke Most expensive food in town by far Dude uses spatula on raw egg and the wipes on his rag. Then uses on raw chicken and wipes on same rag. Then cooks some more and wipes on same raw chicken rag before serving plates with same spatula. How has health dept not closed them down. How have these guys not been trained to be aware of contamination Each thing tasted exactly the same. Soy sauce and salt. Fried rice had zero caramelization. Just boiled rice with too much soy sauce. Only positive was the sushi. Really great Table around skillet was cheap Formica that was falling apart. 3 different requests on steak doneness. He missed on every one. Not even close Really cluttered. Bathroom was also storage Will never go back. Panda Express has better food for a quarter the price Somehow the place is always packed. If this restaurant had been in a major city, I would have given it a 2-star rating, but you have to cut them a little slack because they're the only sushi source in Paris besides Tokyo Express. My wife and I went to Shogun on Tuesday, November 24, 2021, for dinner. Our server was very good, as were the rest of the staff we interacted with. The hostess seemed a bit disorganized and continually complained to her coworkers that her electronic customer check-in system was very slow. We got there at about 6:30 p.m. and the place was packed. But by about 8 p.m. there was room at the bar. My wife and I waited about 10 minutes for a non-hibachi table. Here's the bad: 1. The sushi rice was not sushi rice. It was just sticky rice and had no flavor. 2. The tempura sauce was not tempura sauce. It was a cold, dark, ponzu-like sauce. 3. The tempura batter itself was not tempura batter, so it wasn't really tempura. 4. Okay, maybe I'm being too picky here, but everyone called it tem-pure-a (the middle syllable pronounced "pure"). That was kind of an indication of the inexperience of the staff. 5. They had no squid. 6. The mackerel sushi came out after the other sushi because "it had to be thawed." 7. The California roll was not constructed very well. The slices were uneven and there did not seem to be a lot of care in making it (see photo). Maybe I'm being picky agains here, but an important part of Japanese dishes is presentation. Here's the good: 1. It's the best Japanese(-ish) restaurant in Paris, Texas. 2. The hot sake was very good. In fact, it was excellent. Very potent! 3. Our server (a young gentleman) was very good and very polite. 4. It was crowded when we got there, but, as with most Texas venues that we've experienced, everyone (both customers and staff) was polite and kind. But don't get me wrong here. We will be back. First of all let me say that our food was great like it always has been when dining at Shogun. Unfortunately, the customer service was as poor as I have seen in a retail environment. When the check came, I noticed that we were being charged for 3 adult meals despite the fact we had ordered a child meal for our 8 year old grand daughter. Our waitress who also said she was the manager told me we had not ordered the children's meal, that they had prepared the adult meal, it was their practice to always assume adult portions and that I would be paying the adult meal price. We are all entitled to our opinions and stances on how to resolve issues but based on the waitress/managers attitude I will never go back. There are so many great local places along the 82 corridor that I can choose to spend my money at. I am going to choose to spend my money going forward with people that act like they appreciate it. A better business practice than assuming 8 year olds are ordering adult meals might be to confirm if a child wants the adult or childs portion before preparing the meal and telling the customer they are wrong. read more

I've frequented here multiple times during lunch and for lunch carry out without issue. We have several times frequented here for dinner with our hibachi loving seven year old. But...tonight we were a bit short on time, arriving at 8:30om CDT not knowing they quit seating at 8:35pm CDT (according to staff). We made seating cutoff but we felt so rushed to drink, eat, finish and get out that I''m left feeling very underwhelmed with the service.. I did verbalize this at checkout and was assured we were not intentionally rushed to leave but that is not the perception my family felt during dining. My best advice is thie food here is good just arrive for seating WELL before seating cutoff!...a mistake we won't make again! read more

Our favorite place to go. Their sushi and hibachi are wonderful. Cowboy roll is our favorite roll. The filet is very tender and flavorful and they have the best fried rice. It is pricey and the wait is long but it is worth it! read more

So we went to lunch today to celebrate my wife's birthday. We have eaten here several times for dinner. I was very disappointed by lunch. It was very less than average. We ordered Steak and Scallops and she ordered lobster tail. I could barely understand the server about the differences from lunch to dinner. Next, they made us move so a couple of Mexicans could sit in our seats we had selected. Then when the cook came out, he basically ignored us while he spoke with a loud voice with the 2 Mexican women to the point, we could not even hear each other during the entire meal. Additionally, the scallops were off and the lobster was overdone to the point it was like eating a shoe. Very disappointed. Very unlikely I will go back. read more

I don't even think that I can be kind and give Shogun three stars, unfortunately, because I was that overwhelmed. We went right when they opened at lunch time, and there was already a short wait. That wasn't a problem and is almost expected for it being a small restaurant in a small town. The problem started once we sat down. Our table was completely seated at least 10 minutes before the station next to us was seated, but somehow they got their hibachi chef 10 minutes before us. That was annoying considering we had been waiting for about 30 min total since walking through the door. Once our meal got started, things didn't get any better. Our chef couldn't be any less entertaining if he tried. He also overcooked everyone's steak at our table, but at least he was consistent about it. Never coming back when I'm in the area. Let me clarify my review: Lunch- food is good and not overpriced, but you will stink of the restaurant for the rest of the day. Dinner- BOHICA. Not only is the food priced way too high, the service is mediocre at best. The guys that actually cook are usually pretty good, but the rest of the staff act like they would rather be anywhere else. Also, you will stink like the restaurant for the rest of the day. Take-Out- the worst. I am not sure why, but it is as if they forget everything that is suppose to be normal, order sushi- no wasabi. Order chicken fried rice, no chicken. Order full meal, don't get the full meal. Once is an accident. Twice is irritating. The fifth and sixth time you decide to not eat there anymore. Where do I start? The quality of the food here is repulsive! Please stop taking people's money by serving garbage. My family had take out for lunch today and it was by far the worst experience. The chicken was dry and no seasoning, the ginger dressing for the salad was spoiled, my lettuce was dirty and the fried rice was gummy with an overwhelming amount of soy sauce. What happened? There must have been a change in the supervision and someone is only interested in taking money and not having pride in the quality of food. I shouldn't have thrown it away and taken it all back for my cousin to get her money or just prove that not everyone pretends that it's okay to accept lack luster quality of food. I've eaten hibachi at roughly 30 different places and unfortunately this ranks in 2nd to last place. The steak is very low quality, very chewy and tough. The fried rice is a 3/10 compared to most hibachi restaurants. This place ranks as low as it goes as far as quality within the hibachi industry. read more

I stop at shoguns every time I am in Paris for work. The sushi is pretty good- lots of rolls to choose from. the hibachi is okay, but nothing to phone home about. It takes a long time to be seated for hibachi, but there is usually space to sit in the bar area where you can order both sushi and habachi (just without the show). They do need better ventilation, as I usually end up smelling like smoke after my meal. read more

The y recently remodeled and now for the same price you get only the sushi you see in this pic +1 piece. I always buy sushi combos, but none of theirs fit the bill any more. One visit. What took me so long? Excellent lunch of miso soup, sushi, tempura shrimp and vegetables. After only one visit, appreciating my choices, sitting at sushi bar observing dish after dish, staff efficiencies (Huge number of take-outs) and full house, Shogun may be the very best (as in authentic) ethnic-based restaurant in Paris. I would like to see udon noodle dishes. I will (hopefully) report again very soon on evening meal. But unlikely to go hibachi when menu has so much else to offer. Quality of ingredients, chefs, prep, and service makes Shogun the only other restaurant in a class in Paris with Bois d arc's. Pricey...but enjoy! read more

The teppanyaki was horrible. I served over done steak and veggies. The rice was not cook properly. The chef did not listen to what the customers wanted their order to be cook. Wife and I went there for dinner. We ordered a Phili roll, a Black Tie roll, and was sharing the Filet Hibachi & 2 beers. Phili came out and it was really good. The Black Tie came out and we both tried a piece, and we both tasted a fishy taste. We got the attention of an employee, and told her, and asked to sub out a spider roll instead. She said we'd have to pay for the roll anyways, since we ate it, although, only 2 pieces were eaten. We asked to speak to the manager, she said she was the manager. I asked her "why would we pay for something that tastes bad, and won't eat". She said "we used our ingredients, you ate it, so you pay for it." I asked "even though we both say it tastes bad, and want something else, we'll have to pay for it still and pay for the new roll?" She repeated her answer, with "Our fish is fresh, it's not bad." So we canceled the rest of our meal, paid for the rolls and beer and left. I'm an area supervisor for a restaurant franchise, and been in the restaurant industry for 17 years. I can't believe that a restaurant would make a customer pay for something they said tastes bad, especially if they wanted to exchange it for something else. She should have said "no problem" and replaced it. We didn't ask for anything but to replace that roll with another. That $15 (customer cost) roll cost you a $95ish ticket. I doubt we'll be back. This was my second visit to this location. The food was good and my entire party enjoyed our meal. The cook was good but didn't interact with the customers at all. He just cane out did his thing and left which is fine. The waitress was attentive. I had to deduct a star for the cleanliness of the restaurant. I assume this might be part of the reason for the dim lighting. Several of the lights on the walls were missing covers. There was a light by the bathroom that had food splattered on it and dust hangin off of it. In the women's restroom the exhaust fan was covered in dirt and dust. If I had gone to the restroom prior to eating I would have left. I could only imagine what the kitchen area looks like. read more

This is our favorite Friday restaurant. They have great lunch specials & large enough portions that my husband & I share the Hibachi Chicken dinner & just add a side of fried rice (take out). My daughter & I regularly get the double fried rice lunch special for $5 & share. The actual restaurant is crowded which is a draw back, definitely not somewhere you want to go for a date night but we always do take out so it's not such a big deal for us. I can't comment on the sushi but I've heard they do a great job with that too. One issue is that the portions aren't consistant, sometimes they're huge & can feed 3 & other times it's barely enough for one. There have been times that we've eaten in & had only a few pieces of veggies & tons of meat & other times had 2-3 chunks of meat & a pile of veggies. It's a small thing but worth mentioning. read more
