Being Moroccan myself, I can confidently say this place is a SURE BET. The harira is EXCELLENT, especially during the cold winter months. The royal couscous is, in my opinion, one of the best choices on the menu. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and extremely flavorful, the merguez sausage tasted just like the ones in Morocco, and the chicken added that extra touch so you can enjoy a bit of every meat. The couscous is served with its broth on the side, which you can pour over the dish, making it incredibly flavorful and juicy. The vegetables were fresh and high quality. My friend ordered the kefta and egg tagine, which was also extremely delicious and comforting, with a rich tomato sauce. And let's not even start on the Moroccan pastries, they were the perfect sweet touch to the meal. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. I recommend this restaurant 1000% if you want to experience the true flavors of Morocco in Chicago.

Shokran is the kind of restaurant you try once and want to come back again and again. I ordered the lamb shank, and it was absolutely incredible the meat melted in my mouth, and the flavors were out of this world. It was my first time trying lamb with sweet prunes, almonds, and egg, and it was a delicious meal! I also had a side of rice and some mint tea, both were great. The food and service were amazing.

This was my first time trying out Morrocan cuisine. It had very good reviews. The inside was very beautiful. They had an adequate amount of seating. You can find street parking nearby. Service was good. Prices were standard for being in Chicago. Portion sizes were sufficient for two people. We ordered lamb fez and merguez. They were equally very tasty and filling. Lamb fez has a big piece of lamb in a stew with prunes, cinnamon, almonds, and honey. Hard boiled eggs are served with it. The lamb was cooked well, meat was very tender and juicy. Merguez is a dish with homemade sausage stuffed with ground lamb and beef. They're on top of couscous and vegetables. Sausage was bursting with flavor. Lamb and beef is such a great combination.

Our Moroccan server was great! Very polite, funny and engaged, perhaps he was the owner or family? It was clear he really cared about his food and sharing it with us, educating us, and welcoming us. The decor is nice, we sat in a back room that had fabrics hanging from the ceiling that made it very cozy. Finally, the food was outstanding! I had lamb fez and the table shared a chicken bastilla. Both were very interesting as well as delicious! I will be back very soon with my partner who I know will love it!

Wonderful tasty food delivered directly to the hotel. Unfortunately, I still had to get some work done for next day's presentation - hence having to drop plans to get out for dinner. I ordered an Uber Eat takeout from Shokran Moroccan - and I was not disappointed. Loved the Sweet Lamb Couscous which was simply wonderful all around (and provided a help line (see below*). The portion was very generous and the pita bread cold probably have been skipped. And I have to admit that I went back to nibble a bit on the remaining couscous as I continued to work... Beyond that, the Shrimp with lots of garlic in spiced tomato-chili pepper sauce was delicious. And last, the Shokran Salad - a mixture of greens, apples, raisins, walnuts and a (a bit sparse) dressing - was very refreshing and provided the "healthy balance". *PS: Even though I requested utensils, there were none provided. Yes, I could have requested some from the hotel, but by the time the food would have been cold. Hence, I had to use the bones of the lamb to serve as spoon. Fortunately, the meet was immediately coming off the bone such that it became a reasonable utensil - so long as nobody watched!!!!!!

This was our first time trying Moroccan food. We drove 2 hours to check this place out. The experience was great. Our server, Aimad, was wonderful. He was so patient and helped us with recommendations. He had some great stories of his own life to share with us, which I enjoyed. Although this cuisine is not something I would probably crave, I enjoyed trying the many dishes we ordered. Everything was beautifully presented. I have nothing to compare it to, as it was my first Moroccan experience, so I can't exactly rate it on flavor. We enjoyed our visit.

This place definitely lived up to all the hype! Warm, wonderful ambiance for a group! They even gave us a private little area on a not too busy Saturday night! The bastilla was definitely a unique must-get item. Everything we got was so tender and well-cooked. The complimentary pita, sauce, and olives were good too. Friendly service and reasonable prices, especially since it's BYOB. CASH ONLY, there is an ATM there.

I have been here once and decided to reintroduce myself. I can tell you I love the Moroccan Theme and definitely the Moroccan food. Lamb stew under a Tangine is amazing. The flavors weren't overwhelming but delicious. There wasn't too much or too little of anything. We enjoyed both the Lamb and Chicken stews. Highly recommended.

I love this place my favorite Moroccan food in the city. I've studied abroad in Morocco before and this is about as close authentic as you can possibly get in Chicago. The person who told me about this place was my Moroccan friend. we came here for my birthday and my family typically are very picky eaters but they ended up loving it. The star of the night was the mint tea. The waiter was also super awesome. We talked about Morocco for a little bit And that made me happy.

Stylish Fulton Market Brunch with Great Food and Service…read more Booked brunch for two on OpenTable at Aba in Fulton Market, and it's easy to see why this spot is so popular. The space is beautiful--open, bright, full of natural light, and stylish without feeling overdone. We ordered the Short Rib Shakshuka, which was flavorful with just a hint of spice and a generous portion size. The warm, soft pita served alongside was perfect for dipping. The Steak and Eggs was also excellent--the steak and eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried potatoes were a standout: crispy on the outside while still moist and tender inside. Portion sizes were just right. We also tried both of the recommended brunch cocktails, and they were strong, flavorful, and well balanced. Service from Mike was great--friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, Aba delivered a polished and enjoyable brunch experience. Highly recommend, and based on what we tasted, I'd absolutely come back to try dinner.

From the food and ambiance to the consistently outstanding service, everything is truly top-tier. This visit was just as exceptional as every one before it. We shared the Sweet Corn Hummus, Spicy Whipped Feta, Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Wild Mushrooms, Crispy Potatoes, Grilled Chicken, and the Lamb & Beef Kefta. Every single dish was outstanding. I wish I had taken more photos, but we were too busy enjoying the food as it arrived at the table! For drinks, my sister loved the Strawberry Rose Paloma, and I enjoyed a glass of Kir-Yianni Sparkling Rosé, which paired beautifully with the meal. The warm, seasoned pita deserves its own recognition. It's soft, pillowy, and absolutely addictive. Honestly, it's hard not to fill up on the pita and spreads before the rest of the meal even arrives. Our server struck the perfect balance between friendly and attentive, without ever feeling intrusive. We usually make room for dessert, but we were completely stuffed this time. In the past, though, I've loved both the Warm Sticky Date Cake and the Frozen Greek Yogurt, and I'd recommend either without hesitation. I was secretly hoping for a tiny scoop of frozen yogurt as a birthday surprise, but my server didn't mention it and I didn't remind him of the celebration (and honestly, we were way too full anyway ). As a huge Top Chef fan, it's always special dining at Chef CJ Jacobson's restaurant. I had the opportunity to meet him during my very first visit to Ema, and he was incredibly gracious. His creativity and attention to flavor are evident in every dish. Ema continues to set the standard for what a great dining experience should be. It's the restaurant I recommend most often when people ask me where to eat in Chicago, and it remains my go-to place for special celebrations. I can't wait to come back again soon! #ImNotAFoodie #ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood #YelpEliteSquad PS: the hotel next door no longer provides parking validation.
