I am speechless with my experience today at Its Greek 2 U. The owner and her sister made us feel at home. It's as if we knew them for years. A Pork Belly Gyro/Yeero? Yes, please! Y'all know one of my soft spots is for pork belly! Not only did I like this gyro because it had pork belly, but it was executed superbly. No if, ands, or buts about it, the pork belly was the star of the show. It had that bit of char to give it that maillard charm [sic], and it was just the right cut of meat that it was tremendously flavorful and savory. Not over salted either! I used to think that my favorite gyro filling was lamb. No. My favorite gyro filling is pork belly, 100%. Far too many places stuff it to the absolute brim for the heck of saying, "Hey, look, we're not greedy at all! We're give you more ingredients." Though this throws the balance off and it becomes a piping hot mess. Not here. I didn't find myself saying, "They skimped on the meat," nor did I find myself saying, "I would have liked a little more veggies." While a bit more onions wouldn't have hurt, I am not complaining. The only thing I will say is the tzatziki sauce could have used a little more flavor. I'm not sure if it needed more cucumber or maybe some herbs, but it felt more like a yogurt sauce than what I would call a true tzatziki. All this is good and fine except for the service. While I do want to be fair and say that I was here as part of a larger group. I don't think that's an excuse. It took us just about an hour for our manis to start coming. The restaurant wasn't very busy, either. If it's an indication, one of the things I ordered was a EPSA soda (by the way, it had no carbonation and was more of a fruit juice). It took well over 15 minutes just to get a bottle of this stuff. Come on, folks. Just get it from the fridge, give it to me, and there's more likelihood I'd finish it before the food gets here and I'll ask for another one. The final thing I do want to give them massive props for is their low prices, probably about the same as a meal would cost you at a fast food joint, with comparable portions. It's not something that you're going to be waddling away like a penguin, but unless you have a massively voracious appetite, you will not leave hungry, just not brimming to the full. Thus, the pork belly gyro is definitely worth a return visit. However, I have to make sure I give myself plenty of time because based on my experience with a larger group, it may take unreasonably long to get my food. read more

I can't say enough good things about It's Greek 2 U. My boyfriend and I went there on our first date nearly six years ago, and make a point to come back a few times a year. We bring friends, family, or just go the two of us. Not only is the food amazing and it's BYOB, but the owner, Vicky, is just incredible. She remembers us, asks how we are, and brings so much light to each of our visits. Had a great dinner here on a Friday night. I took a date here and were very impressed with our plates. We ordered two appetizers and then I got a pork belly gyro (yeero as it's spelled here on the menu) and my date got a chicken pita sandwich. I don't think I've ever had such a tender gyro before. The meat was incredible. I was in heaven with each bite. They also gave a lot of the tzatziki sauce with the appetizer so we had plenty to continue using with the gyro. It's currently a BYOB establishment ($5 per bottle) so we brought a bottle of Pinot Grigio and they provided us wine glasses. I will note that I realized later we weren't charged for it on the check. Considering we had two appetizers, and two entrees plus bottle of wine... I found the $55 check before tip to be incredible in this day & age. read more

5 stars for being a more affordable dinner option on the Clark St A-Ville strip! I've been here a few times and always enjoy my food, as well as the staff (friendly AND funny with great knowledge of their menu and recommendations). perfect quick but not fast meal in the area... after a basketball game on a school night we needed a quick but not fast food family dinner. this was a perfect choice. tried so hard to start the new year off right but -- THOSE FRIES! lemony and crispy. delicious. i really wish there was a build your own appetizer (spreads) platter bc that's my favorite part of greek food. i settled for the zucchini pancakes which were good. my kiddo loved the pork belly yeero (never seen this on a greek menu) and my other boys (husband and older son) shared 2 sausage/yeero meals. everyone was very happy. the staff was happy too which made us happy. the only bummer - the saganaki does not come with the pomp and circumstance -- it's just served on a plate with a side of pita :( read more

I decided on a Saturday because they open on the weekends at noon and 4 PM during the week and they had Pastitsio as a weekend special. You order at the counter and the lady said take a seat anywhere. The owner was working in the kitchen, answering the phone taking orders, etc. There was no waitstaff which surprised me considering it was the weekend. We were waiting longer than usual and about to leave in a few minutes when she finally took our order. I ordered Chicken Gyros and my friend ordered Chicken Souvlaki she said that hers was a little skimpy compared to my amount of meat, and she went on to say that she could have used more tzatziki sauce (mine too). The owner was the only person to take our order. On our way out I saw a waiter finally waiting on a large table. The Sagankai was good and a nice piece to boot but there was no Opa! She just put the plate on the table. The Spanakopita was a good size but a little overcooked. Check out their website menu before you go there because I was going to order the Pastitsio (Greek Lasagna) that was on their Yelp website menu but the lady/owner said that they didn't have it that day, their "Special Menu" had Filet Mignon and Lamb Chops were both marked as "market price". Also, they didn't have Avgolemono (lemon, egg, and chicken soup}, a staple on most Greek restaurant menus, which surprised me, the lady said "It's too hot for soup". read more

As a person who has eaten 250+ gyros in my lifetime, this place rewired my brain chemistry. I was confused looking at their menu wondering why they only had chicken or pork belly gyros. I thought maybe this place was just trying to be trendy and different, but Greek-inspired interior didn't really match that vibe. We tried the tzatziki, saganaki and chicken kabob which were all very good. However, we also tried the pork belly gyro stuffed with fries and it was one of the best things I've eaten in Chicago. I cannot stop thinking about how good it was. My mind was blown. I ordered another one to make sure it wasn't some anomaly (they also are similarly sized to a half of a sandwich). I get the pork belly yeero with fries inside every single time I come in. The flavor is well balance and I love the friendly staff. I haven't tried anything else but I can 100% stand by the yeero. We ordered the Chicken Yeero (layers of chicken seasoned with herbs served inside pita with tomato, onions and tzatziki), Pork Souvlaki (char-broiled tender chunks of pork served inside pita bread with fresh tomatoes, parsley, smoked paprika, red onions and tzatziki), Kabob (ground beef and lamb served inside pita bread with fresh tomatoes, parsley, smoked paprika, red onions and tzatziki) and rice pilaf. Man what can I say except that these yeeros are not what I am use to. This is not the usual sliced meat but hearty chucks of flavorable meat that was tender and juicy. The flavors were so fresh and the tzatziki didn't overpower the sandwich. It was nice to see that there was more meat than bread for a change in a sandwich. The kabob was so good! I love lamb and I could definitely tell that there was lamb in the kabob as oppose to more beef. The Doctor and I each got an order of the rice pilaf, which was pretty good. The Doctor, who is Armenian, said it tasted a lot like the rice his mom use to make, and she knew how to cook. I got an extra Pork Souvlaki because I love all things pork and wanted to try it the next day. Folks it did not disappoint and made a great breakfast. The sandwich held pretty well, the pita was not soggy. Now that I have discovered this place I will be ordering from them again as I would love to try the lamb chops. read more

Definitely authentic Greek food! The best gyro I have had since I came in the USA. I tried both- pork and chicken gyro, and my advice is to go with pork! It is so much better. Your lousy service just ruined our evening. They were packed on a Friday night, which was fine, we were given a seat by the counter for a fifteen minute wait. Okay, fine: we wait, then more people come in, the owner stats barking which tables she wants people at and clears off a table for people who had just showed up 30 seconds ago. The waitstaff sad no, we were waiting, but the owner overruled them and put us in a seat second. One by one, every table got their food before us; eventually people sat down next to us instantly and had their orders within two minutes. My date had already eaten her entire plate, I still had not been served a sandwich and fries after 45 minutes Waitstaff finally figured out I was hungry and brought me a plate of goddamn heated frozen french fries. After the table next to us had eaten THEIR food, I finally got my sandwich order from an hour earlier. I didn't tip, but in all honesty - you knew you had screwed me, and you should've comped my meal. We went home, pissed off. Evening ruined and over. Screw your lousy service. read more

Considering Andersonville is loaded with various restaurants, it's easy to overlook this small establishment. However, It's Greek 2 U Grill is home to the best yeero I have ever had. And as a life long resident of Chicago, that is saying something. I have personally walked by this place hundreds of times, but I finally decided to give it after a friend recommended it. Although this place is small, the ambiance is really pleasant and the (who I am assuming) is the owner is incredibly friendly. Good service, good ambiance, and even better, good food! The pork belly yeero was fantastic and makes this place worth a visit. It was the best I have ever had. Good hummus, too. I just wish the yeero was bigger. I also wish they would give you way more pita bread. I pretty much ran out immediately and resorted to using cucumbers and tomatoes to eat the rest of my hummus. But yeah, this place is the real deal. So if you're in the neighborhood don't hesitate to stop by. You won't regret it. read more

The avoglemono soup was a little bland for my taste, but not so much that I didn't finish the bowl. A little more acid and pepper would've made all the difference. The saganaki was great, though we've been spoiled by our local place and missed it being served with a flaming "Opa!" tableside. We got the mixed grill for 2 and absolutely **loved** the sausage more than anything, and next time I'll just order the sausage sandwich. It's wild to think that my first time eating here was within the past week. I love Greek food and I am always in this area so I grabbed a quick lunch. Ordered the kalamaki and the saganaki. The chicken was very flavorful and I was impressed that it was not dry at all! Usually kabobs can be hit or miss at places, but the chicken was cooked wonderfully. The saganaki was great as well. It's just a piece of pita with lettuce, cucumber, delicious feta, kalamata olives, tomatoes, onion, and just a little dressing, with tzatziki for dipping. For $6, it was filling, healthy, and truly delicious. I also got some rice (a little overcooked), the vegetable of the day (which was a nice helping of garlicy, buttery, lemony broccoli/yellow carrots/green beans), and the Greek patates (tasty and very filling). Our first dining experience at It's Greek 2 U was a pure delight! Thankfully we made a reservation as this small restaurant was packed on Saturday. Ambiance is warm and welcoming--when we arrived there were already several large parties dining. Aldo, our server, was gracious and attentive. Food was fresh and perfectly seasoned.
