I bought a few things from Shoot Straight few times and it's a hit and miss with the customer service from the employees. What I mean by that? It's simple some of the employees will take time out and help you make a decision on which weapon is going to be best for you and your situation. Now let's talk about the other half of the employees they seem they just want to make a sale more than help you decide on purchasing a weapon, ammunition or whatever you want to buy there. I frown on that because when I have questions that needs answering I expect to be helped and not walked away from cause your just there for sale pitching and move on to the next customer. Hopefully they can fix this issue cause it's a nice place visit if your in the neighborhood by yourself, with friends or family. I hope the higher up's for Shoot Straight would take a look at some of the reviews and can learn what needs to be fixed. I know this is a very busy gun store I understand that but don't push away your customers away so the employee can make another sale. Whatever happen to make sure the customer is happy before he or she leaves. Like for instance yesterday (Thursday) I was there with my father looking at the Glock handguns to see what size that will fit perfect in my hand and I found that the 4'' models fit my hand best and the guy who worked there that was helping me seemed like he didn't have the patience to pull each caliber out so I can see which one would fit in my hand the best. Another issue I saw that he didn't know how to do separate pay I mean pay in two different ways like credit card and rest in cash. He had to keep stopping and ask the manager I believe if he could help/show him how to do separate payments. Another issue I noticed I didn't like I have slow learning disabilities and after I told the guy my dad is going to help me fill out the paperwork cause of my learning disability and I was finished with it the guy looked it over and he said since you have learning disabilities did you check this question out..He said it where everyone can hear him..My father said if my son was fully handicapped he wouldn't have gotten his Concealed Weapons Permit or CWP for short. The guy just stood there like my father said something wrong. This made me feel bad cause of the way he said it and the customers around where was standing at just looked at me. Hopefully the managers would take a look at my review and respond/email back to this and let's fix this issue. read more

My family and I went there today for the second time. I am very new to guns, but my husband has been slowly introducing me into everything. The first time we went a few weeks ago, the employee who helped us was really great. He explained all of the rules and talked me through some pointers. I really appreciated the customer service. The range wasn't busy since it was late on a Friday night and I enjoyed the space to get comfortable with the gun. We decided to come back today with my mom and sister who have owned and shot multiple size guns for years. It was really busy, but we didn't have to wait too long. We were all uncomfortable when about 10 people came to stand behind us while we were shooting blocking access to the counter where our gun cases, ammo, targets, and personal belongings were. It is a very small room and they didn't have anywhere to go when we needed to reload or get a new target. I assume they were a class but it would have been common sense to have them to wait in the lobby versus everyone crowding in the small range. Nearing the end of our hour, my husband took the gun to the counter to pack up which is a big no no. The employee reacted so fast I was standing there with my mouth hanging open. He snatched the gun out of his hand and yelled at him to never do that. I don't know what he was thinking, he obviously knows better. I was pretty impressed with how fast the employee acted. Not even 5 minutes later my mom moved from her booth to mine with her unloaded gun so my sister could move in with her rifle. The employee again intervened and said that was our last chance and he was kicking us out. I'm still standing by the counter a little dumbfounded my group got yelled at in the span of 5 minutes. Of course, they were very offended and complained about it the rest of the time in the store, but I was grateful there are rules in place and they are enforced. You are putting a lot of trust into strangers next to you with loaded firearms to act responsibly. Maybe because I'm new to the gun community, but I'm still a little uncomfortable so I don't mind toeing the line. As to customer service on the sales floor....maybe because I'm a woman in a mans world, who knows, but I didn't get a second look while at the gun cases. I'm very interested in having my own fire arm, but no one bothered to walk over and ask me if I needed help even though there were plenty of employees behind the counter chatting. A little sad, if it is because I'm a woman. I would like to think I have a right to look at firearms as much as the next person, but maybe there are other stores more willing to educate me on the right purchase. Especially since I shot 10 head shots at 7 yards my first clip ever...just saying. read more

Shoot Straight - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Tampa, Florida

This is the biggest gun shop in the area. They have a huge amount of guns and accessories in stock. If you want to see a gun--this is the place to go. However... it is very expensive. Most of the guns are priced at MSRP or higher. Now, there are some bargains...usually a "special" that they have a lot of...but they are few and far between. That being said -- the place is also very busy, and often understaffed. Personally, I think you could get better service and better prices at a smaller shop. read more

If you want to deal with children selling you guns, go here. I have no experience with the Lakeland store, but this place is no bueno. The prices are good, but customer service just plain sucks. These kids just joke around and look at you weird and laugh. It's like being in High School all over again. No way would I give them a good review. Very good selection of firearms for sale. price points were pretty much full MSRP but some sale items were priced great. the staff was a little shorthanded and busy on a Saturday mornin. Range counter staff was incredibly pleasant and I was impressed by the range. only criticism was short staffing. Everyone was busy but one employee on the rifle counter who frankly was rude upon answering a simple question. I actually commented to other staff about his demeanor and they made a joke concerning his constant poor attitude. I was in town on vacation. I would visit again. read more

Made the mistake of trying to go here again this past month, looking to get a high end 308 or a staccato. The sales staff is still rude as hell, copping an attitude just because you're looking at rifles on the wall behind them and don't want any help. Hubs and I have been customers here for quite a while, so I'm surprised I never finished a review. With all the craziness in this world, we were shocked to find a good stock of a firearm we'd been wanting about 2 weeks ago. Ammo is impossible, but that's a different story. The staff does a decent job on the shooting range. Although, one time a group of women was not paying attention to their surroundings. One rule my husband and I have is we will never, ever take pics of our time at the range or selfies. It poses too much of a danger. These women were and not practicing gun safety. I wish the RM had spotted it, they hadn't so we left. Overkill on my part? I don't think so, because you're in such close proximity to loaded firearms and with all the bizarre stuff going on in the world, there are a lot of newbies who don't understand safety. Checked website for opening time it said 10.am got there a little earlier employee who opened up could see I was a customer waiting and said nothing so gave guy time to open up10am came guy could see I was waiting, only opened door when UPS GUY came then tells me he doesn't open until 11am I suggested that they change their website so as not to waste people's time. I never used a gun before and went in to get some assistance in the hope that I could purchase a weapon to protect my mom and I at home and l arm how to use it. I have never been in this store before and when I approached one of the men to ask for some help he immediately held up his hand toward me and told me to back up. I then looked around and realized that I had accidentally walked into the register area and immediately apologized and removed myself from the area. I then asked this same individual if I could get some help since Since I was new guns and he replied everyone is busy now you will have to wait. I then waited and eventually this same person asked me what I was looking for and because a friend of mine said it might be good idea to buy a shotgun I inquired about that. He walked Me over to the shotgun area and asked me what my range is and when I told him that I wasn't sure since I didn't know how much they cost and he started to seem really annoyed at my question by the look he was giving me and the he tone of his voice and the shortness of his answers. I then told him that I am totally new to this and was hoping to speak with someone that could speak with someone who could take some time to recommend and suggest what might be best for someone who was just looking to protect her family at home should an intruder try to enter the home. He replied in a short tone there are no shotgun classes only for a pistol. I then said so maybe you are suggesting that I look for a pistol and get some training on that first instead of buying the shotgun?, and he said no. Then he started rattling off one word types of rifles like pump or semi and I once again answered that I don't know the difference between these types of guns and he seemed even more annoyed. I then said that perhaps this place might be more for people who are more than experienced with guns and if he could just suggest somewhere that I could go to get beginner help on buying a gun and he responded in a loud and short tone in front of other customers that turned to look over, "look the first mistake you made was to walk in here and not realize everyone was busy helping other people!!!" I couldn't believe he said this especially in the reprimanding tone of voice he used when all I did was simply ask if I could get some help and when he said everyone was busy I patiently waited. At that point I felt embarrassed and completely intimidated and said nothing and just left. I went out to my car and sat there for a minute in shock as to how poorly I was treated over what? For me it was hard to even get the courage as a woman who knows nothing about guns to walk into a shop like this and to be treated in such a demeaning and belittling manner is beyond my comprehension. I simply am a woman who is a RN and who cares for her disabled mother at home and because of how uncertain these times are I simply wanted to buy something that I could learn how to use to in turn keep us safe at home should someone ever break into our home is all. And now I'm sitting here in disbelief that my efforts caused this type of response. Unbelievable is all I can say. And so unfortunate. I wanted to share this for any other folks that are new to owning a gun that you may want to spare yourself this experience by avoiding this place! read more

The store is pretty decent. However, I primarily go for the indoor range. They have two ranges, pistol on the right and rifle on the left. The controls are simple, just a toggle switch. You have to guesstimate distance based on the distances marked on the walls, which can be a bit difficult. The bigger issue is how long it takes to get a lane. Nonmembers take a considerable amount of time to get signed in; members do not. I would recommend they develop a "members line" to help with the flow of customers. read more

I asked questions about memberships, gun cleaning (bore) and assorted questions related to gun mechanics. Found staff helpful. Store well lit and range area clean and targets were good. (usually no one cleans brass at other ranges) . It was not to hot or cold which is great. I will be coming back. read more

Really nice place. I've shot here a couple of times. Customer service is very good from what I've experienced. Lots of options in the store and the staff is knowledgeable. I had bought a Kriss Vector at the gun show and on the first time I was shooting it, the bolt release lever had broke in half. I found it odd, maybe defective. I took it over to an associate and showed it to him. He took the Vector and asked if I bought it from SS and I said yes. He kept it and asked me to send him a copy of the receipt. I did so, he shipped it to Kriss and called me as soon as it was back. That's service, no hassle, just get it done. Good experience over all! read more

This is one of the worst ranges I've ever visited. I'm not a novice, I've owned and used firearms for quite some time, own dozens of various gun. I'm a benefactor level NRA member. A dream customer for any gun store. I arrived at the range with several boxes of reloads from Atlanta Arms and Ammo. They are the number one supplier of match grade ammo and their reloads are of impeccable quality. They reload precise to original specification. In fact many ranges sell their ammo. They told me I couldn't use reloads, I was fine with that and was going to buy several boxes of their overpriced ammo. They told me I would have to leave my ammo with their staff. I asked why and told them I wouldn't shoot the reloads since I was buying ammo from them. They informed me I couldn't bring the ammo on the range even though I promised I wouldn't use it. They called over a manager at my request. Even though I was polite and respectful to both his staff and him he decided to start off incredibly rude. I told him that I wasn't comfortable having my ammo out of my possession and control. I once again affirmed I wouldn't use it and would use their ammo instead. He rudely answered they don't allow reloads on the range even though he knew of Atlanta Arms and Ammo's reputation. At which point I told them they were about to lose a customer that has used the range and bought several guns from them. He said he didn't care. I will never step foot in one of their stores again. read more

I wish management spent 1/2 as much time and effort training their staff on Customer Service as they do on firearms. I called to inquire about trying out and buying a new concealed carry firearm. I had the full intention of purchasing this firearm today. I called to confirm 1. this model was in stock, and 2. also available to tryout. When I arrived onsite, I was surprised to learn if I wanted to tryout this firearm, I would have to pay to become a member. At no point in my phone conversation did the representative tell me "oh , by the way, you have to be a member if you want to tryout a firearm". When I said "I wish you had told me this on the phone before I drove all the way down here", the response was "Well, you should have asked." Excuse me? Since when did customer service become the responsibility of the customer and not the business? On complaining to someone who apparently was a manager (but never introduced himself), I received an insincere apology, along with an offer to "take money off my hands" if I wanted to buy something today. Hilarious. Not. No, I decided to give my money to one of your local competitors, who not only beat the price but also offered to meet me at the coolest range in town, Indoor Shooting Company on Fowler, to let me try out my new firearm before I happily gave them my money. read more

Would not recommend Shoot Straight as a gun shop unless you've got a wad of cash to blow. Their staff is very knowledgeable however my wife and I have been there a few times and struggle just to get someone's attention to even talk about or look at a gun. This past Sunday we went in to look at some guns and stood at the counter for 20 minutes, staring at a gun in the case, and nobody helped us. Meanwhile 3 different employees walked into the section where we were and went to the other side and asked 3 different patrons if they could help THEM. We finally went over to the rental/range section and asked for help. The gentleman there said he could look up the information we were looking for however it would be about 15-30 minutes because the guys that 'normally look it up don't work weekends'. Are we really the ONLY ones shopping for guns on the weekends? As for the range portion of Shoot Straight, been there multiple times. Prices are fair and wait times aren't long for a range. They are strict about their rules (ie. no cameras) which takes away some of the fun but if you're looking for a place to go shooting fairly cheap, and one that has all of the gear to make it easy, Shoot Straight is the place to go. Needless to say, I will not purchase or look to purchase any more guns from Shoot Straight because of their high prices and the way we've been treated when shopping @ their store but make a determination for yourself. read more

I recently purchased a gun from shoot straight and followed the normal protocol spelled out by the sales associate. Getting a background check- that should not take longer than 24hrs.. maybe 36hrs at the most with everything going on. It has been a month and a half, which I understand with COVID and gun sales could take more time. I returned 8 weeks later, to cancel the purchase and was told by the manger that it would be a 25% restock fee. This was never disclosed to me, had it been disclosed to me- considering I was born in Jamaica, I would've never risked having to pay $625 restocking fee for a purchase of any kind. This is in the fine print at the very bottom of the receipt. I am sure if more people were aware of this policy, they would not purchase firearms from dealers. Buyer beware. read more

I would tend to agree with the general consensus of go there to find the kind of gun you want and go somewhere else to purchase it, except that due to today's market, "somewhere else" doesn't have it. They are the big dog and their attitude shows it. It's organized in three sections , I assume it's because each section is to block out sounds for a certain gun you have. What I like is how the workers kept coming in the riffle room to tell the people hey please sit on the chair when shooting ( I think the workers prob thinking" bro if you shoot and fall,you can accidentally kill someone"). If all you're looking for is a place to shoot guns down a range then this will suffice. I've been here multiple times and had mixed experiences. My last experience here will be just that. My last. Everything is overpriced. I would bet that any item you find at this place, you can find cheaper online or at another store. I get it that most of the time smaller shops need to charge more to stay in business. This is why I do believe in supporting local shops ( I do the same with fishing bait & tackle stores). Their customer service is hit or miss. I've gone in there at times and not once been greeted or asked if I was looking for something. I have been at the gun counter and just stood there looking at the guns. There was some kid standing behind the counter that literally just stood there. If you're going to hire someone to work the front and deal with customers they should be able to, at the minimum, talk. Other times I've been greeted with a smile upon entrance and asked if I needed assistance. I've been helped successfully in finding specific items. Like I said, hit or miss. I had a set of handgun sights put on here that was very quick. Called and he said to come in. Took him 5 minutes to put them on. Was charged $30+tax for this. I figured this was fine. I could have bought a sight remover and done it myself, but like I said I do believe in supporting local businesses. The last time I was here I had an inexpensive rifle that wasn't working properly. I called and spoke to the gunsmith and told him I only paid $100 for the gun and if the cost to repair it was anywhere close to this I wouldn't even bother with attempting to fix it. He said to come in and he'll have a look and call me(he never called). I brought it in and gave them a call 2 days later. He said it couldn't be fixed and that he couldn't find a replacement part. I thought OK, he'll probably charge a small fee for diagnosing it. I go there and he hands me a bill for $35+tax that says "not able to fix, no replacement available". So I ended up paying close to $40 to have them hold my gun for 2 days haha. I get that he took time to see it wasn't able to be fixed, but there is a time and a place to do the right thing. That is why I initially called and told him I only paid $100 for the gun. I just paid them 40% of what I paid for the thing to tell me that it's broken and can't be fixed. Thanks! I'm not a gunsmith but I took the gun apart multiple times trying to figure out the problem before bringing it in. It takes 2 minutes, tops ! It's literally held together by one bolt screw. He told me he worked on it for 1.5 hours. Maybe i'm wrong and I guess this business is pretty cutthroat, but I know I won't be returning here. Nickel and dime'ing me out of $40 just lost them a repeat customer. A little decency goes a long way. I'll gladly drive the extra miles to go to Shooters World. I've been there multiple times and never had a bad experience. Their range is better. They also have a nice lounge area with free beverages. read more

I came here as part of a concealed weapons permit class to do the range portion. Store is pretty large and has almost any legal gun you can think of. The prices here are in my opinion, on the high end. There's plenty of staff there and everybody I encountered was pleasant and helpful. The store is set up well, the range is clean and efficient, and the overall experience there is a good one. I give this place four stars only because prices are so much higher for the same products, than at other places. I did want to mention that I was wearing a US Army shirt (good choice to wear to a gun show, if I do say so myself) and one of the staff members sought me out, asked me if I had served, and when I acknowledged that I did,he thanked me for my service. I thought that was pretty cool. If you want a place to go pop off a few rounds at the range, or if you have a few dollars in your pocket and you are looking for a gun or accessory, this is a solid place to go. read more

The nicest indoor public range in Tampa. Shoot straight is very large and fully staffed there was a dozen or so knowledgeable employees who unlike other places I've been make you feel comfortable and not stupid. They also have a large selection of new guns to purchase too. The only down side is they only have three 100 yard rifle lanes which always require some type of a wait on the weekend. This is by far the nicest gun store I have ever seen. If you are new to guns this is the place you want to start. They have the widest selection of firearms under one roof outside of a gun show. They have a very nice indoor range to test out your new firearm, and they have professional instructors you can hire for personalized training. My wife hired a fellow who by day is a law enforcement officer and moonlights as a firearms instructor. He helped her pick out a firearm she was comfortable with and showed her how to use it. The fact she was willing to come back is a testament to the guy's patience. I've purchased and traded several firearms from them. They are not the cheapest nor did I get the best trade in value. But I honestly believe the positive purchasing experience, the amazing selection, and the friendly, knowledgable staff are worth the extra money. You can catch them at every gun show where they will have some nice discounts. As far as firearms stores are concerned, this is as good as it gets! read more

Stopped by this gun store on 3/25/2020 to see what they had in inventory, as most gun dealers are running low on inventory. There was a line of about 20 people or so waiting to get in. When I walked up, I asked the gentleman guarding the door if that was the line to get in or was it a line for something else? He very rudely told me it was the line to get in and asked me what I was looking for. I told him I was there to check out the guns in stock. He told me if I didn't know exactly what I wanted, I wasn't welcome to browse. This was my first time going there, and certainly my last time! read more

What a blast, literally! I have never shot a gun in my life. This place was awesome. They walked us through everything. They made me feel very comfortable. The clerk went on the range with us. I'm really on the fence. Initially I really liked them, but it seems that the upsell is a priority at the expense of what the best choice for me would be. As a relative novice I need help about how and why to choose a gun or the ammo for it, not just "buy this" and hope for the best. Prices are _definitely_ high. Ammo I want has been in short supply several times, if present at all. When there, it is twice what you would pay on the net. Great gun range, though it can be a wait to get in.
