The equipment is good--we rented single person kayaks. The price, however p, is ridiculous. $60 each for 90 minutes of kayaking from their beach. Add another $6 each if you want to be dropped in upstream. No wonder there was no re except us! They should drop the price in half if they want more business and repeat customers. read more

We booked two ahead of time. We checked in at 11 and did not get on the water until 12:30. The young men working had zero motivation nor had an hurry or efficiency when it came to accommodating the long line of people waiting. They have no safety or rescue plan in place! DO NOT RENT THEIR TUBES!.Especially if you have kids or anyone older in your group. Their tubes deflate and you are not likely to get help for many hours!! ALWAYS take your phone and have an on the go charger as well. Now the details ... As an avid nature lover, having grown up swimming in lakes, ponds, rivers, catching fish with my bare hands- being stranded in a river not very deep is not something that scared me. My girlfriends & I decided to take in the beautiful ATL summer floating away on this river. However, after having paid $29 a head to rent a tube, it was my/my friends expectation that that would come with a safety valve i.e a lifeguard or a member of the staff watching out for those who paid for their services & some instructions for first time "tubers". I have only white water rafted and boated. We received NO instructions from the young lady at check in, even after we asked her multiple times what we needed to after we got the tubes. She instructed us to walk down and get in. Anyhow, we figured it out being intelligent young women. We then, shook off the minor annoyance and enjoyed our time, until my float started to fill up more and more with cold water (it was refreshing at first). This was about 20-25 mins into the experience, with over a 1.25 or so to go. With the tube now COMPLETELY FLAT, my friends and I used our slippers to paddle ourselves as quickly as possible to the closest dock- though it was private property, since we did not see anyone from the company we could wave or yell to for help. Having hauled myself to the dock, I had the presence of mind to take my phone (being a mom away from the family, wanted to be accessible in case of emergencies). Called the number on the side of the raft over 10 times,& finally called the # we made the reservation with. Got a hold of Samantha, who said she was sorry my tube deflated and she would send someone over with another one. No one arrived for over an hour, we called another dozen times and finally were told the people who went looking for us never found us and had returned!!!. We waited another hour, spoke to the person looking for us directly over the phone and were told they had been informed only 10-15 minutes ago to look for us. And whats more, they were on land!!! not coming in a motor boat or paddle boat either. Anyway, we decided after much angst when they found us, that we should still make the best of it and move on.. We had been at this point , in the sun and without water for nearly 3 hours! we managed to find some friendly kayakers who offered to let us hitch on, so we could get ashore and hydrate. We made our way back at close to 6 pm (started at 12:45 pm!!!), and were told to talk to Barbara who would make it right. We/I explained in detail and calmly at first that we had been stranded, and it was an ordeal to get help. She (and Samantha) proceeded to tell us- that "that's what life jackets are for", and that "the water wasn't cold enough for you to get hypothermia".. Well if you're in cold water for over a mile and a half, who is to say that I wouldn't have been sick? . Point was, they did not even refund ME (forget the rest of the party who spent 2.5 hours waiting it out with me), since the tube they gave us was faulty. All in all, it was a pretty terrible response to a very logical comment about why they would send people looking for stranded people by land, vs using some of the money we all pay to use their service to buy a little dingy and have their team patrol the waters for any signs of distress or emergencies.. all in all, I would definitely tube again, but NEVER with SHOOT THE HOOCH or their team- Barbara, Samantha and Carl. read more

This place has terrible service. We called ahead the day of asking if it they could accommodate 3 people for tubing. We were told there would be "plenty of time" by the lady on the phone. However, when we showed up 30 minutes later, we were told they had no equipment left and we could not go tubing. What a disappointment! Ruined my Father's Day. read more

We went to the Don White location first as per the website. They said they were understaffed and couldn't have us pay there. They vaguely directed us to another location. After stopping twice at the wrong places, we found the other location. There was a huge, slow, disorganized line where people were cutting in line. Finally, they told us that they were too understaffed to transport the tubes to the put in location. So we were not able to tune just because they couldn't transport the tubes. Everyone that worked there was rude and did not provide good customer service. Very disappointed and never going back read more

This company made it easy from start to finish: making reservations, finding the launch point and take-out, all equipment needed was available and in good condition, the check-in, and shuttle service. My two friends and I wanted to kayak down the Chattahoochee and found this place online. We arrived yesterday at 1pm and paid $72 per kayak and were told it would be about a 30 minute wait for the shuttle to take us to the starting point. We kept asking the young guys working when we would be able to get on the shuttle and they kept telling us we wouldn't fit. Two of the guys had hickeys all over their necks which only added to their lack of professionalism. We watched multiple large families go ahead of us even when they got there 45 minutes after us. It happened three times and no one seemed to care that we had been there way longer than anyone else. We complained multiple times and then finally spoke to the manager who was apologetic and said she would "do something for us," but that never happened. After 2 hours we finally were able to get on the last shuttle of the day and they loaded up the kayaks once we were on the bus. When we got to the starting point we realized they hadn't brought sit on top kayaks like we requested but at that point there was nothing we could do. We will not be recommending this place to anyone and will be finding a new company to rent kayaks from next time read more

Just got back from a great kayak adventure with the fam. We were greeted with a super sweet staff and worked an adventure for us between rain storms. We raced upstream to the bridge and the cool water coupled with the hot and humid weather was perfect. After racing back we ate ice cream sandwiches and made an incredible family memory that included a workout (burned 400 cals), some sun, and a view of the Chattahoochee that can only be seen in the water. The staff launched our kayaks and were waiting on the shore to pull us in. Our feet never had to touch the water. Great people and great equipment! read more

We wanted to do river tubing today and unfortunately it didn't turn out that well! First we were waiting in the line for 30 minutes until it turned out that's the wrong place and you can't pay there. Fine, the guy there told us to go one mile that direction and pointed to it. It was actually more than a mile. Ok! Finally we found the right place, where you can buy the tickets. Crowded! Went on a Sunday morning in the middle of the summer. Even though it's a busy place the staff was very organized it getting you set up and going. You have to go to the head quarters first at Azela and then you state where you want to be dropped off. We to the drop off spot with their shuttle provided and off we were onto the river. Such a relaxing experience!! Will def go back out! read more

A little over priced if you ask me. I live close by, and just wanted to do some kayaking. I just showed up the day of, no reservations or anything. Ending up canoeing instead because it was half the price. Went for two hours with one other person. They supplied us with life jackets and paddles too. Pretty nice area for the hooch. As low as the current is, still a decent amount of effort to canoe upstream. A little close to the road, but it's not a busy one. You pass a lot of houses, but still feel like you're decently remote. They have shuttles, but I don't really understand why, because you can access the water right there for no additional cost. Staff was helpful and quick. I'd go back, but I'd enjoy an area with more dangerous waters too. Good for a relaxed day outside. read more

A large group of family and friends went tubing a few weeks ago for our 1st time. We thought we listened to directions but slowly realized we did not exit when we should have. We got to the side and called the office. They were so sweet and sent someone to help. Jace showed up on his kayak and actually tied all 14 of us and 2 cooler tubes to him and got us to an area we could exit. We tried to make it fun and sang to him during his journey pulling all of us. Jace was so sweet and had such a great attitude about it. When we got to shore, the shuttle bus was already waiting for us, thank you Peter! They were both so nice and got us back to the park without making us feel like complete morons. We had such a fun and memorable time, we will absolutely be back to do it again! I made prepaid reservations, packed up a group of 7 from Washington DC with a picnic purchased at Publix for $40.00 and drove to Roswell for tubing on the Chattahoochee. When we arrived, the location was vacant. When I called, the "Operations Manager" said they tried to call me to tell me that the water was not safe for tubing. Yet, I had no missed calls on my cell phone not any voice mails. They offered a raft 8feet long for 7 people. I explained my dissatisfaction for not being notified before hand and asked for my money back. She replied that I was told about the no-refund policy up front and that there would be no refund (only a rain check). She became short and rude when I told her that wasn't acceptable since they were not providing the services I prepaid for. She offered no solution and abruptly got off the phone. DO NOT PREPAY! You are at risk of losing your money. Thank goodness I paid with my American Express and will be disputing the charges. read more

I wish there was a way to give ZERO stars. First of all they ARE NOT OPEN UNTIL 7. This is a lie. My spouse and I have went on two different occasions and were unable to rent from them either time. Our First experience we arrived one Sunday at 5:05 pm(2 hours before they 'close') and asked to rent a canoe, upon asking the question to one of the two ladies in the office, the lady we asked looked at the other girl and said "Hey Ashley(unknown name), look at me.(she then waits for the girl to look at her, then asks) We are done letting rentals out for the day right?" Then the other girl proceeds to say yes and that unfortunately because they close at 7 they have to get the boats off the Water by 6 and because we arrived at 5:05 we couldn't get a full hour in and they couldn't rent to us. First of all I am standing right here and can see what is going on secondly, why does she have to look at you to tell you if you can rent to us or not? Anywho Major bummer but almost understandable. So we let it go. Our second expeience we arrived on another Sunday at 4:15 and we were turned down yet again Because they were "wrapping things up" and closing down. After explaining to them this is now the second time they have turned us, the customer, down and in return they gave us a "free ride" for next time we come. However, this does not make it better. The point is we wanted to spend our evening on the water and were unable to both times we drove out to shoot the hooch for unreasonable and unrealistic reasons. Please feel free to take offense, because if they're "open" until 7 they should be open until 7. Instead they need to own up and correct their hours to let people know that even though they are open until 7, they stop service and rentals at 4.. 3 hours before they "close". My family came to Georgia for a family vacation from California, We planned to shoot the hootch on the 4th of July. Knowing it was a holiday we assumed it would be very busy. I had a called asking about the rift sizes/ prices, my father had called and my sister from Cali had called with more questions. We were told the raft would be $160. July 3rd we had more people ask to come so I called again to ask how much individual tubes would be, we were told about $6.80. When we got there today, we were told all of the rafts were reserved. Not a single employee told us that our group of 8 should make a reservation and there was nothing in the website," in the two weeks prior to the 4th of July. Fine, we got the individual tubes. They were not $6.80 like we were told, but $29.99 each. When I told the two women at the counter and the one woman running around the office that we were told the tubes would be $6.80 they said 'nobody should have told y'all that.' We ended up paying $250 for 8 people to tube down the hootch which lasted 1 hour when advertised as 2-4hrs. Luckily we pulled off and made fun for ourselves. We will never visit this location again. Extremely poor customer service, communication skills, and very disorganized. Well just go to $10 river tuning next time, at least they know what they're doing. read more
