We went to Bottle Stop Wine Bar on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Occoquan with our dog, Onyx. I was expecting a quick wine tasting before moving on, but we ended up lingering over lunch and the biggest surprise was how much more they offer beyond just wine. Our server, Savannah, was really attentive and really made the experience. A damp afternoon on the patio could have been miserable, but she kept everything warm, welcoming, and relaxed from start to finish. The food was a bit of a mixed bag on the appetizer front. The mini salmon cakes were outstanding and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The dry-rub wings, on the other hand, were forgettable. Skip those and save room for the entrées. Both the crab cakes and the lamb ragu were excellent, with the lamb ragu being the standout. We wrapped things up with the butterscotch à la mode, which was a great finish. The atmosphere is relaxed and the covered patio was a huge deal on a rainy day. Dog-friendly on top of that makes it an easy yes for a lazy Sunday afternoon. We'll definitely be back. read more

My husband and I came here for lunch and left with zero regrets. We started with the bacon-wrapped dates, devilish duo eggs, Yuka fries, and the seasonal appetizer- whipped feta & summer succotash crostini. We shared the Citrus herb-crusted salmon for an entree. All I have to say is, WOW!! The flavors, quality, and presentation of everything we tried surpassed our expectations. The service and waitress were great-- very welcoming and professional, and the atmosphere was delightful even though the weather left something to be desired (overcast and rain mist). No matter the time of day or busy moments, the service and food quality has been consistently good as well as the signature cocktails. They are proud mixologists as well. One of the few in Prince William County. I value the places that value me as a customer. They have a great owner and it clearly shows that they enjoy everyone that stops through to visit for a drink or some food. I have been to places where they treat the customer poorly or like a joke for some reason. Not here. All are welcome. Food. Their food is high quality and they offer special seasonal items. They also allow you to make a flight with 2 oz pours of any wines you're interested in My fiance and I came for dinner on a Friday night and opted to sit on the patio in the front of the place (it was very loud inside). Underwhelmed is the overall theme of my experience here. It's a cute spot but the food was severely lacking flavor. Cocktails were good, charcuterie board was small but tasty, the Brussels were all crisp but all fallen apart. 2 in my party ordered the steak and mentioned it needed salt and must've been a very poor cut of meat. The lamb ragu sounded so good in theory but it did not have much flavor at all. Honestly the best thing I ate was the 2 little pieces of garlic bread it came with. Casual but full of life - this place was hopping both Friday and Saturday evenings (and yes, I know that because we went twice) - first night was just for drinks they have a good martini list with some inventive concoctions - I had a variation on the bees knees and my husband opted for the espresso martini (his go to) both were well-balanced and went down way too easy! They have a pretty great whisky list too for being a wine bar with whisky flights if you are looking to try a few. Fries were good but the real stars were the entrees which we went back for on Saturday - delicious crab cakes - not a spot of filler did I find - and the chicken pot pie was nice and peppery and flavorful! I went to Bottle Stop midweek. They were NOT busy. NOT. BUSY. I was seated right away and my waiter brought my on tap wine order very quickly. So why the one star, you may ask. I sat there. A woman alone. The wait staff wouldn't even meet my eyes. No one checked in for my food order. I was planning on a $30 meal plus wine. But. No. One. asked me if I wanted or needed anything. For 20 full minutes! I was literally down to my last sip of wine when the owner? stopped by and asked if I was doing ok. I told her, I was going to order dinner but NO ONE has checked on me. I left. I've seen restaurant staff fall all over themselves for single male diners. Guess what friends, I earn good money too. All by my damned self. I've had a wine flight and the smoked old-fashioned to drink, and enjoyed both. For food, the lamb ragu is filling and hearty. I love the yuca fries for an appetizer. And their mac and cheese is delectable. I got a dill vinaigrette on the side salad that really made the salad. Met a friend at Bottle Stop Wine Bar for happy hour around 4:00 after work. There were plenty of parking spots available and plenty of seats available. Inside was small but quaint. Happy hour was a bit pricey and the quantity was a little scarce? The bacon wrapped dates were very tasty, the cheese dip was good, was a little disappointed in the board and the bread was very hard and crispy. All in all, spent a little over $100 for 2 people for happy hour. They weren't able to split the bill between two cards for us. Don't know if I'd come back for happy hour, but interested in how a meal might be. read more

Didn't quite meet expectations based on the restaurant website and the high reviews from respectable sources. I came here for someone's birthday and had high expectations given the reviews on here and elsewhere. Even the main search engines are giving this top marks. First, if you are expecting luxury, be aware this is in the historic district of Occoquan and is most likely built from foundations over a century old. During the day this place may be better suited for a visit for wine and light brunch. We came for dinner. The service is excellent and we were seated immediately. There is plenty of wine to choose from and the wine was pretty good. However, the food just wasn't that good and most of it was charred beyond recognition. For example, the brussel sprouts had no green. The steak didn't seem to be a good cut of meat either. The fries were not crisp. I believe the cook wasn't that good as we saw at least 2 other tables send food back or give complaints about the food. I will say the manager is nice and the waitress was very attentive. This place may be better for a wine visit and light appetizers if you are visiting the area. Overall, just ok. read more

She was very attentive and brought a small cake to my table to wish me a happy birthday. Furthermore, her knowledge of the items on the list was amazing! Also, her energy was beyond amazing! Their wine list isn't huge, but the selections run the range and are reasonably priced. I enjoyed the meat and cheese plate: Brie, Asiago, and a Parmesan in olive oil dip, plus a decent portion of prosciutto. It came with water crackers and slices of baguette. There was a single French Fry on the plate, which I found curious. The bacon wrapped meatloaf was good but a tad dry. It came with mushy peas and roasted carrots, which were marvelous. However, while the meat and cheese plate arrived quickly, the meat loaf took a very very long time: more than 30 minutes. I ordered the bourbon butterscotch tart for dessert, which also took an incredibly long time. This review is for the Mother's Day brunch. Reserved a table to enjoy the special menu put out. Ordered crab cake Benedict and a Bloody Mary. Incredibly underwhelming and was not worth the trip. Crab cakes were small, came without English muffins or any kind of bread, sparse hollandaise and 3 asparagus spears. That's all that was on the plate. More like an appetizer but cost $22. Bloody Mary was tasty but the description noted celery and bacon which it did not come with. Brought this up to Wait staff who had no idea what was on the menu and apparently when brought up to the owner, he didn't care the menu said one thing and they provided another. Giving 2 stars because the rest at our table ordered from the regular menu and got decent meals. read more

It was a very nice-looking place with simple decorations but a great vibe walking in. The place was packed as we made 7 pm reservations. Great staff and plenty of them working. Prices were reasonable and we had a great night. The food was delicious as we had appetizers. We told them what we wanted for a wine and choice and they nailed it. If you want food, I would recommend the salmon croquettes and the chocolate brownie with raspberry sauce. The ratatouille was decent and I liked the salad with basaltic vinaigrette. I also had the spiced cosmopolitan, pretty good. Service was not bad. For me, I don't think the food and the service justified the prices... There was a lot of people there.
