This was such a bizarre dining experience. When we arrived, we were not acknowledged at all. It took for my husband going to the bar for them to bring out menus for us. Drinks were very weak. I ordered a large margarita because I was planning on only one drink, but it was overly sweet and I didn't taste any tequila. It also took them a very long time to bring out the drinks. I ordered flautas which were supposed to be served with tomato and avocado and sides of rice and beans along with sour cream, cheese, and lettuce. When my food came out, there were no avocado, tomato, rice, or beans. At this point I was just kind of over it and wanted to get out of there. My husband got a chimchanga, but the rice was unseasoned and cold, and the beans were cold. There were gambling machines in the restaurant, and it sort of looked like they were in the middle of a renovation. The walls were half painted and there were no decor aside from Frida Kahlo looking down on us. It evidently was a "hidden gem" but these days it's more of "trash out in the open." read more

Muy deliciosa! Don't be intimidated by the facade. The blacked out windows belie the bright, festive decor inside. We got a mix of street tacos that contained twice the meat compared to street tacos in comparable restaurants in the area. The hostess/waitress was very pleasant. Hidden Gem is right! This place is easy to miss as it is at the very, very end of a warehouse district. Well worth the trip though! Welcoming and friendly staff and the food...OMG... I decided to try a Beef Chimichanga, and it was hands down the best I have had in many, many years. The best since another whole in the wall when I worked in Manassas that was equally hard to find. While the hidden nature adds to the mystique, it's not effecting my rating of the food. As you'll see in the pictures, presentation was a focus as well as the taste. I was told that everything is made in house and the cheese, the tortilla used, the shredded beef, the beans, even the rice were as good as it gets. All paired together it made for an amazing meal. I will return often...heck...if they had desserts - like maybe sopapillas, I would still be there They do have a substantial little bar for such a small place too, so that's another reason for a visit Gracias Agave! Delicious food! I have never been a fan of Tex-Mex or Mexican food. It's my husband's favorite. We found this place because of its 4.8 star rating and decided to give it a try because it is my husband's birthday. I can't believe I actually like this food and what's more? I can't wait to come back! The reviews speak for themselves, but coming from someone who never enjoyed Mexican food, if you have ever wanted to give it a try - definitely don't hesitate to give this place a try. Looking back, the food was not good. It was like a person new to cooking was in the kitchen. Coarsely cut vegetables, bland flavor and it took nearly 20min to get my order on a day when clearly business wasn't really that busy. The ambience was not really gauged to customer service. It seemed like the staff was outside smoking and loitering, instead of inside, cleaning, cooking or clearing unbussed tables. If you're looking for mediocre Mexican or Tex-Mex, don't come here, because it's not even that. You're better off picking up Taco Bell and a 6-pack from the gas station. 1 because the venue is in a niche industrial area and has a lot of potential, if not, def be no star. read more

This place is tucked way in the back but 100% worth the short trip. The restaurant is super cute and decorated well and has a feel of a family party. Service was perfect and our waitress was so nice. My husband had the tacos which he really enjoyed. We both had margaritas, hubby had the regular and I had the peach. Both were strong and delish. I love a Tajin rimmed margarita and this place does it well The only hiccup during our dinner was that I ordered the fried fish and received the grilled version. They apparently think it's a good idea to grill shrimp with shells and tails on and have customer attempt to separate them for fajitas. I found this odd. No rice with side. A group of us decided to try this place out after our original plan fell through. We went during lunch time. The place is a bit hidden so we expected to find a hidden gem that we could bring our friends to. There was only one guy for the entire place. The food was OK, we expected a lot more for the price. We had the molcajete and it was a pretty empty bowl and did not come out hot as it does in other places we have been to. We also ordered the Cadillac Margarita and while it tasted good it came in a regular glass and we where charged $15 per drink. I'm sad to say we aren't coming back. read more

This is a real hidden gem, literally: it's located in an industrial area behind some warehouses. You have to drive past a few storage facilities to reach it, but it's absolutely worth it for authentic Tex-Mex. I went in the middle of a Sunday about two hours after they were supposed to open and was the first customer of the day. The staff almost seemed surprised that someone came in. I bellied up to the bar and the waitress was incredibly attentive. The portions are massive. I went in the middle of a Sunday for lunch, thinking I would get a decent serving with some leftovers for dinner; I left stuffed and had leftover for two dinners. It's hard to actually describe the portions, but I ordered the combination beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas and it was everything I wanted in fajitas: the beef was seared just right and still juicy. I hadn't expected the shrimp to come sautéed in the shell and flattened, but they were delicious with the copious peppers and onions. On top of the regular small for tortillas, the waitress also brought me the thicker flour tortillas that I love that were piping hot from being pan seared. I'll definitely be back and next time I'm going to be torn between fajitas again or the Carne Asada. The ambiance is comfortable, but the bar seats are a little low. It's a nice decor with multiple TVs, a decently stocked bar that is very half tequila and half other staples. Cabo Wabo is their top shelf tequila. Although they weren't on, there are definitely LEDs and neon lights behind the TV and along the top of the bar. If it wasn't built into an industrial facility, you wouldn't know from the interior that it wasn't a rural South Texas Mexican restaurant that turns into a small dance hall after 10pm. If you're the kind of person who likes to say, "I know a place, it's a bit unexpected but it's awesome," this is a Mexican joint to check out and take your friends to. read more

I found this restaurant because we wanted to have Mexican food (Taco Tuesday) and sit at a bar while we ate. I found this place online and the reviews were good, so we went. It felt like we were going to a brewery, as this place was in an industrial park. However, it was a cozy little place with a few tables a counter and a bar. Happy hour is 4-6 (I can't remember if it's M-F or every day), and the margaritas were very good (tacos are part of the happy hour menu--and they are already cheap). The huarache was top notch, and the pastor taco was unbelievably good--the flavors were fantastic, and the carne asada taco was not far behind. They have the standards that you'll see at Mexican restaurants that serve us gringos (e.g. fajitas, burritos, chimichangas, etc.), but they also have some of the more "Mexican" dishes (huaraches, gorditas--the real ones, along with some traditional Mexican plates). If you like Mexican food, and you want something more than the typical chains, you should go here. You should also tell your friends to go here after you try it and like the food. This is a one-off, locally-owned restaurant exactly like what you want to support. The people are friendly, the kitchen and dining area are clean, and the prices are good. My girlfriend and I will definitely spend a lot of Taco Tuesdays here. read more

We used to love this restaurant under its previous owner/management. Food was good and prices were very reasonable. Our recent experience with the restaurant under the new management was horrible. First, the service was very slow!!! We waited for more than an hour to get our food even though there were only 4 tables with customers. By the time we got our food, everyone else has left. I noticed that the other tables only ordered Nachos while we ordered dinner meals. Second, when I paid our ticket, I was shocked at the price. When I came home, I looked carefully at the receipt and realized tthey jacked up the prices from what was listed on the menu. A single taco for $3.50 on the menu was charged $6.90. The Taco plate was charged $2 more. The watered down Margarita using cheap tequila was $18.00! I don't trust this business and I won't be coming back again. It's a little hard to find because it's in an industrial area and it's tucked back in the parking lot around the side of an industrial park but well worth the additional effort. Hidden gem tucked away behind business park and away from the traffic and foot traffic for that matter. Went here for lunch with a few coworkers. The place is actually pretty small, but still had room for two groups of 5 people without feeling over crowded. Our server brought us some fresh tortillas and salsa. The tortilla chips were sooo delicious as they were warm and crunchy without being hard. We also got some margaritas. They only had 2 options for lunch - regular margaritas and passion fruit margaritas. I wish I had took a pic of the margaritas coz they came in cute little mason jar mugs. But I am a snob when it comes to margaritas and let me tell u, these margaritas were AMAZING!!!! The food was amazing as well. I got steak fajitas with a grilled jalapeno. They charged me $1.55 for the jalapeno, but I can't complain (thought I wish they didn't, but I digress). My food came with tortillas, rice, beans, guac & sour cream. Oh my Lord! I had forgotten how good Mexican can be when done right. This was the best restaurant surprise that my husband and I have had in a looong time. They were closing and agreed to serve us anyway. Who does that any more? These guys. From the moment we walked in, we were transported to Mexico. The family that runs it treats you as though you are part of the family. And what was even greater was how delicious and fresh the food was.
