Crazy busy on Thursday 9 PM. Maybe it is because this was a memorial weekend, or maybe this is how this place is, but it took me 40 minutes to check out and leave the place. One more annoying thing is the people who park there in the places which are only for pick up, and leave their car there for a long time. They really should take care of it. read more

Try to figure out while you are standing at the register what the F you are paying ... then look at your receipt. This store's receipt is so confusing. They never show you the exact price you are paying. Rather they show you the original price and then list amount you saved. Now you have to do the math yourself, item by item. And if there is a discount involved using your card or a digital coupon, the receipt becomes even more confusing. I'm sure there are laws on receipting and I'm sure they are in compliance, but this receipt is a real bummer for consumers. read more

These days, you'd be hard to find a "mega" supermarket ala suburban style in Brooklyn. ShopRite fits the bill. It's sizable, has a parking lot (but is also directly under the F train if you need to schlep your groceries on the subway), and best of all, they blast 80s music over the speakers. It's like a shopping dance party! Since I buy my produce more locally and avoid the supermarket, I can't attest to the quality. But for everything else, this place is awesome! I stock up during their twice-a-year can can sale, despite lacking the room to store things. But with a can of corn for 40 cents, how can you go wrong?!?!? Yeah, I can basically get two cans for less than the price of one at a bodega, and turnover is quicker. There's also a decent selection of organic and growing (not Whole Foods-ish, but not bad by any means either), a ton of Kosher products and just about anything else. I end up getting Pat LaFrieda meat here, which is cheaper than anywhere else, and cook up the best burgers with it. (Seriously, their meat is insanely good.) And their weekly sales are really great and manage to keep my food shopping budget down. The downside is it's kind of insane here with crowds (but so is every other market in Brooklyn). The up side to that is it's 24 hours, so if you feel the inclination to shop at 3am, you can. Weekdays at 7 or 8pm seems to be a good sweet spot since lots of families shop here. Another downside is their parking lot. No one there knows how to drive. Be careful. You've been warned! All in all, good sales, a giant parking lot (with crappy drivers), a great overall selection and danceable 80s music keeps me coming back. read more

I love this location, but sometime it just frustrating that you need to wait at the checkout for 30 minutes. So I decided to go late at night, thinking that it will be easier to shop here, but the sad thing is that they barely have any cashiers open, so the bottom line is 30 minutes check-out again. Besides that, they have good fruits and veg, and they have a great selection of breads that they bake there. They can do much better with their deli department. And never, never buy the already cut cheese they offer. It is just not good enough. I wish they had online order and delivery, I believe it is only a matter of time before they will. read more

Can't not recommend as they are the only big supermarket in area. They have anything you could want but workers not friendly, will not move out of you way when they are in aisles , and use inappropriate language . Also, don't understand why cashiers do not have to help bag items. They touch the items to scan them, so can't be because of covid. So now we have to bring our own bags and do our own packing. They stand there and then take another customer and squash your food. Now, I don't pay until I pack myself all up. This way they can't take another customer until I'm done. read more

Have been coming here for 3 years, since I moved back to Bk. I cannot think of a single negative about this store, honest. ShopRite has always been good to me and shopped them for decades. I live far enough from this location and within blocks to a StopandShop and I will chose the drive *every time*. Other than the competitive prices, here are some of my reasons for coming back: ~ Well organized, clean store. ~Parking. More parking under ground. ~Well maintained fruit/vegetable selection. I hate having to pick through rotten or damaged stuff, its never the case here. ~Super friendly staff who always go out of their way to help. ~Great music! -2 because 1- parking is a pain in the ass since it's a shared lot with Amazing Savings and Bank of America, lot of honking going on. 2- way crowded and most of the customers are rude senior women who either don't move out of your way or yell at you to get out of their way. Seriously this place's produce is absolute garbage. I was avoiding it at all cost. I would shop here Fridays and then hit up the Slope's farmers market on Saturdays for my tomatoes,blueberries and strawberries. Well for months I abandoned the produce section because all of their items always look dead, beat up and sometimes have shit growing on them. No lie...on more than one occasion I came across items with fungus or mold on them. Anyways I go in this week and decide...eh what the hell...strawberries on sale for $2.50...yippy...I grab some, they look good...and then I go to the organic section and grab some organic avocados that are $2 each. I get home...all excited to make some guacamole...I get out some tomatoes (yes I actually got good tomatoes this week from them for a change), I get out the lime, and then crack open these avocados... Mother F&^$er!!!! All three of these "organic" avocados are dead and brown inside. Gross!!! Seriously when will I learn to stop buying produce from this place. I go here regularly as in my neighborhood and 2x closer than the superior and far larger, cleaner, more spread out Gateway Center one in Starlett City, but this location also has most of the same products even if organized in a much less clean presentable manner. The staff work very hard to make this location everything it can be. The competition is stiff with Jewish, Chinese, and hispanic grocers, but all such groups shop here too in earnest because of the wide array and great low prices. The basement parking is a giant plus during all weather conditions. The many community postings makes this an important hub in the community. read more

There has never been a time where I've come to this ShopRite and it's not busy. It's insane that at any hour this place is packed with people. The bakery department is probably the best part of the supermarket. The fresh croissants last a whole week at my house and are a great and easy breakfast morning treat to bring to work if you are busy in the mornings like me. The deli department wait is sometimes absurd. You spend at least 20-30 minutes waiting for your number to be called on the weekends for cold cuts. I have to say despite the crowd and long lines they always have everything in stock and great deals. Parking lot is a plus too. read more

I went here once. Yes, it was more like the suburban supermarkets I was used to, but it was disgusting! The produce was nasty and I didn't buy any. The meat all looked funny and I didn't buy any. The floors were dirty and the whole place just made me feel like I needed a shower afterwards. It will be a cold day in hell before I return to this store! I usually go to Stop n shop because it is closer, but I know this store has more sales so I decided to go a little further out, and go to this store. Well, I got a cartful of groceries and I had my own shopping bag (even though the girl did not see it and gave me the bags anyways) in the cart. So i pay for my items and go on my way to leave. I am putting the bags in my own bag, and this worker comes up to me and says do you want that? i am confused by her insinuation that I have something in my cart I didnt pay for. The item she is looking at is the size of a cigarette lighter. I say yeah, its in my cart of course i want it. SHe says then you need to pay for it. I said i am not stealing look at my receipt. Well mistakenly i forgot to put on the belt. So i told her then take it. I understand you see an item unpaid for, but for gods sake, i have a cartful of groceries I am not some lowlife trying to steal a 3.00 item! No tact at all, you can approach a person without insinuating that they are stealing. I will be going back to stop n shop, pathmark, etc but never again to this store. read more

This is a suburban style superstore right in the midst of Brooklyn. I give these guys a lot of credit for keeping the store clean, well stocked, and things move quickly and are always pleasant at the checkout line. The store has a fairly amazing selection, my shopping there focuses on the grocery staples, paper goods, dairy and juices. They have the lowest prices around on laundry detergent, especially if you aren't too picky about the brand. In the middle of the store, one huge aisle has the hottest specials of the week. There's almost always pasta, canned tomato products and sauces, condiments and cleaning products in the mix. There's a huge kosher department, that grows even bigger around the holidays, along with kosher and halal meats and specialties for other ethnic groups. This is probably the worst shoprite you may ever visit.Starting from the deli were they would rather talk than help youWhen they finally stop talking there attitudes are horrible.The woman with the braids who claims to be the assistant manager is by far the worst.She is loud and disrespectful complaining about having to work and saying she in no rush to help the customers Guess what that is why you are there.She stands back there eating with her gloves on which is a board a health department violation .The front end has only half of the staff working while others stand around and talk.They will literally stare you down and roll there eyes when you ask for help.Really hoping for another store to open cause this place is on the decline. read more

It is nice to have a huge supermarket within walking distance of where I live (though it is just far enough away that I sometimes take the F train to get there...as if you could care :-) They offer a wide selection of products including Kosher and Halal. I find that if you smile and say hello most of the employees are friendly and helpful. And from having overheard the way some of their customers talk to them, this is no small feat. Prices and quality vary from average to very good. Their produce is not always the best - and definitely not on par with Fairway, but the meats and poultry are competitive. As for the crowds, avoid the Orthodox community's pre and post Shabbos rushes on Friday before sundown and Sunday afternoon (unless of course you are Orthodox) and you may not feel like you are shopping in Grand Central Station during Rush Hour! read more

This supermarket has a wide variety of groceries, household essentials and personal care products. Their prices are sometimes half of what i would pay in the local supermarket. I love that they have an entire aisle with European groceries! High selection of fish, meat, cold cuts, cheeses. They also offer kosher meat and fish- options for everyone! I honestly rather travel few stops on the train to get everything I need here than go to the local store. Since this grocery store offers delivery we used just that service. If your groceries total is below $100 they charge $4, if it's over $150 they charge $3 delivery fee. There was a bit of a mix up when we got our delivery. We left our address and number and delivery guy went to the building next to ours and then called us telling us that he has been ringing the door for the longest and why aren't we opening! That was slightly rude... Well, we explained that he must be at the different address... besides that incident our grocery experience was good. This may not be a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's but this goes above and beyond your typical run-of-the-mill supermarket. There is more than enough (free) parking on the ground and basement levels, and the crowds never get to be too terrible because the cashiers span the length of the store. Produce and fruit-wise, everything typical. Nothing special, only the occasional seasonal fruit, but the specials on the fruit are pretty good. They have local bakeries' bread and pastries. As a vegan, I was pleased to see dairy-free cheese as well as some boxed items that are vegetarian/vegan that are hard to find at a non-specialty supermarket. read more

Not a huge fan of big supermarkets, but I was recently in the ShopRite area and figured I'd pick up some goodies. Loved that they really have everything under one roof. From food ingredients to pans, to drinks. You name it. And I was surprised by the prices too. I usually pay double the price at a different store. So that was a pleasant surprise. I tried to apply for a Price Plus Card, first online then at the store with no luck. After I tried to register, thinking I was successful. I was sent this message, "oops there is a problem" What problem? Then when I tried at the store I was asked for photo i.d. I have at least half a dozen store cards, not once has anyone asked me for photo i.d. I saw someone ask at Shoprite for card and they weren't asked for any kind of i.d. Online I was asked for my Price Plus Card number, which of course i don't have. How can I provide a number when I'm registering, or trying to? Where is the sense? read more

I live in SoHo, so why in the hell would I be shopping all the way in Midwood, Brooklyn? Why would I ride almost 45 minutes on the F train just to visit Shoprite? Because this location is the only store in the entire city to carry Malt-O-Meal Blueberry Muffin Tops cereal. Never heard of it? That's because it's only sold in this store. Anywho, on any given occasion I might make my way to this store and buy every...single...bag of BMT cereal that they have on the shelves. During these visits, I've noticed that the staff is not always the friendliest ("Damn. You sure you neeeed that much cereal?") or the most professional. I've also noticed that the store is not the cleanest grocery store I've ever entered in Brooklyn. Additionally, it's a bit of a madhouse (I'm talking aggressive cart-pushing and grabbing at sales items - seriously). HOWEVER, they have a great selection at relatively reasonable prices. My neighborhood ShopRite... Seriously... I appreciate this place! One of the bigger and decently priced supermarkets in Brooklyn. Huge selection and honestly, I am SHOCKED at how nice everyone who works there actually is. The only issue is the super obnoxiously loud radio station music and that guy who comes on about every 5 minutes with the "Today's Specials" of the store! Super loud and annoying. I work in the barren wasteland that is known as Midwood. To make matters worse, I work right off McDonald Ave., which is comprised of nothing more than a greasy Chinese place and a myriad of car repair shops. If I am not in the mood to eat rubbery moo-shu or a rubbery tire for lunch, I have to brown bag it, which I do, 5 days a week. The few times where I've done some midweek partying and forgot to put my lunch in my bag, I've had to resort to ShopRite. Here is a short list of my observations: 1) If you have a members' card, you can snag some really great deals. 2) Their store brand is actually quite good. 3) Solid gluten free section. 4) Spacious and well-organized. 5) They're active about hiring people with physical and developmental disabilities. 6) Every employee is generally very pleasant. 7) NEVER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD COME HERE ON A FRIDAY BEFORE SHABBOT!!!!!!!!! Midwood is a primarily Ortho-Jewish hood, and that constituency will bumrush the market. I still have scars on my hips from pushy customers jamming their carts into me! 8) Really good deli counter, and the workers actually know the ingredients in the various salads and premade goodies. I wanted to buy a crab cake once and after telling the counter person about my gluten sensitivity, he told me that there were definitely bread crumbs in the cake. I didn't even have to explain what celiac meant!! All-in-all, best supermarket in Brooklyn. It's no Shaws, Market Basket, or SuperTarget, but it's the closest slice to suburbia in the city. read more

I've been going to this Shoprite for years. Everything I buy here is fresh..and they have a wide range of products...There is a bakery onsite which has breads, cookies, cakes..etc. The seafood is one of the freshest I've found around Brooklyn.. The store is open 24 hours, except holidays and saturdays..Saturdays it is open 7pm thru 11 pm due to the sabbath. The staff is friendly and helpful.. read more

This place used to be better in 2007 unfortunately the quality of the meats and take-out Meats has gone down tremendously I am very disappointed in the meat they have here now but I still come here when I want to get fresh vegetables and fruits mainly otherwise I go to Costco I hope. I hope the management will see this and get the chicken especially the barbecue chicken better and cheaper than $7 for a small barbecue chicken they used to have better quality chicken for the price but it is really drop down and what's this about jerk barbecue chicken costing $8 a chicken. It's quite sad that there aren't a lot of supermarkets in Bensonhurst/Gravesend besides Key Food & Stop and Shop (not a huge fan). A good friend of mine & the boyfriend shops at Shop Rite A LOT, so my boyfriend and I decided to visit this Shop Rite since we've never been and needed to pick up bread and smoked salmon. Enormous parking lot (outside and inside), you'll always find a spot no matter what time or day it is. This Shop Rite is very enormous, fully-stocked with fresh produce and everything you would have found at Path Mart and much more. They also have a lot of Kosher foods and even Kosher sushi to cater to the Jewish community in the area. Everything is organized and neat here. Pricing is good. Lines usually move quick, but can get busy and crazy especially on Sundays. Overall, we were happy with Shop Rite and looking forward to coming here for any groceries we may want or need since it's closer to my boyfriend's house and we like it here better than Stop and Shop. read more

First off I shop at shop rite alllllllllllll the time. I make my groceries there, hands down for all my needs. But this evening 12/10/18 I dropped by to get a Clairol Textures And Tones.....there was none. Every other brand you could think of was on the shelf except that brand. The blackest brand, they don't have, in a predominantly black neighborhood and 99.9% of your workers are black........seriously!!!! Better than that ShopRite. Growing up in the suburbs, I always thought supermarkets were all the same. Then, I came to Brooklyn - where you'd be so lucky to have one that's half-decent in the area, let alone, have one in walking distance. They're all stuffed with miserable shoppers, even more miserable cashiers, never have enough aisles, and any sort of bargain is far and few between. And, really, that's the kicker - while the retail prices actually don't vary too much between Brooklyn and supermarkets outside the city, let's just say their weekly circulars differ greatly in page volume. So, on a trip back from Coney Island one day during this past summer, along that stretch on the F train where the car goes above ground, the subway made its routine stop at Avenue I. Out the corner of my eye, I thought I spotted something I haven't seen since suburbia. And, sure enough, I was right - it was a Shoprite logo, adorned to a warehouse of a building virtually underneath the train tracks. This would require some investigating. And what I found was that, hands down, this Shoprite has the most deals of any supermarket I've been to in the city. They smack that sale tag everywhere - well, comparatively, at least. That weekly circular I spoke of? Try twelve to twenty pages long. The store's also gigantic, boasting double the aisles of your go-to spot, most likely. We will go out of our way to come here, typically to do our "big shopping", and typically when we have the convenience of a car, or when we're feeling bold enough to trek it via train with armloads of bags. Given the large Jewish population in the area, we shoot for Saturdays, when we know it'll be at its most empty. The produce is hit or miss, you're better off going elsewhere for meat, and we've had two cashiers completely forget to swipe coupons before. But when it comes to everything else, this place is totally worth it. And for all those not originally from Brooklyn, Shoprite of Avenue I is the closest supermarket experience you'll have to being back in the 'burbs. read more

I like Shop Rite; I think they have the best prices and selection of ANY Supermarket BUT deceptive advertising can not be tolerated. When you have SABRA HOUMMOUS 32 OZ $2.99 (A super deal) in huge letters and "spinach-artichoke" flavor only in microscopic print, that's deceptive. To top it off there wasn't any of this flavor in the store...just the sign, which the clueless floor manager said must remain in place despite this item not in stock or expected anytime soon... according to floor manager. I'll give the store a pass for being in shambles since summer as it's being renovated, but deception can not be accepted. Hopefully a re-eval will net more stars for Shop Rite. read more

Ive been here probably at least a hundred times, without exaggeration. This place is a really good place to shop for all your needs. Prices for items on sale can be really good. But its really interesting when you see them put one item on sale and the competitive item, they hike the price really high... Like Coke and Pepsi... man, they really push you to one item or the other.. The store is familiar to me, so I pretty much know where to find everything.
