I have been shopping at this shoprite for about a year with no problem. Yesterday, 6/17/25, I was followed down several aisles but two workers that happen to be Hispanic. Both were making comments about whether or not I was a thief. So I very clearly asked out loud why am I being followed? Both continued speaking in Spanish. Two Latin employees both racially profiling a customer. Afterwards I was followed out of the store by security. read more

Surprisingly this store had a lot more items then others. I found what I was looking for with JUST Eggs but wasn't willing to pay the crazy price of $8.99 each. The lines as you could imagine were nuts but the staff seemed used to it at this point. A nice man let me cut him since I had one item. To really give an honest review, I would have to write a whole page. However to sum it up, in average 3 stars is justified. They usually have what I need when I go in and usually have a friendly staff. The wait time in the deli is bad, they are often short staffed and some of those ladies clearly don't want to be there. The gentleman with the beard was friendly. The seafood dept. Is always busy but more friendly. Good selection. I like that they carry Halal Chicken in the meat dept. And the staff is helpful. The grocery manager I think he's a Manger is always helpful and knows where everything is. I like the new self checkout. But can't belive I need a quarter to use a cart. read more

The two stars is for the guys that work at Seafood. Their service is a five but u fortunately the store sucks so I can't give it a five. Thank you to the man at Seafood who always gives good customer service. NOW besides the ever growing prices even for the generic bowl and basket brand.... This is NOT a pleasant shopping experience. The music is blasting and when it's not it's because someone is taking in the loudspeaker to other employees. And it's BLARING. You can't even think about what you're buying bc it's so loud it's disturbing to the mind. And who the hell decided that people want to hear music like they're at a club when buying chicken. Come on now. I called the manager to talk about how I went here w my mom who is ill, and the poor lady couldn't hear anything I was saying. He just kept saying "okay" bc he didn't give a crap as to what I was saying. Not even " thanks for your feedback" or "I'm sorry you had a shi#*% experience here". This ShopRite is ok, it's a pretty big store, usually always the place to go when Walmart doesn't have something you need, decent amount of self checkouts, they have a delicious sushi section, as well as a mini buffet almost as you walk in. They have cart wipes/ hand wipes as soon as you walk in and they have them all over the store, the bread section/ baked goods section is always very fresh. The reason I give this 4 but not 5 stars is because I think ShopRite or at least this one just has a weird vibe, sometimes it can be a bit sketchy. Staff is usually friendly but I haven't had much contact with staff because the ShopRite app has all you need. Overall a decent ShopRite, could be a bit better though. read more

It was a coworkers birthday and she's loves fruits I was looking for something kind of healthy, not too expensive and that would be enough for a group of us I came upon this! The shoprite center is big and filled with lots of goodies to buy. I've been to many shoprite and this shoprite looks very clean. However, I went to the food court, bought three plates that ended up being $53.48 which is very very ridiculous. When I ate it at home, the food was tasteless and quite frankly, a waste of my precious money. I can't even believe the beef panties didn't have no taste at all. I am just at a loss for words at how lazy the employees are, not to mention how unfriendly they are too! I shop here pretty much weekly as I live nearby. The set up is confusing and I can never find anything. This is probably due to me frequenting the south Plainfield, Clark, and Woodbridge locations. Anyways, I always bring reusable bags because I hate the plastic ones they give. I always have to bag my groceries myself because the cashiers NEVER do. Unlike at Trader Joe's where they not only bag all of your items with your reusable bags they also are friendly and talk to the customers. That's besides the point. Yesterday I came in and put my bags on the conveyor belt and an employee talking to the girl at the register stands at the end of the register. I'm unloading my groceries and I back up with my cart to start bagging and I see that the girl was banging my groceries. I thought how nice, I'll give her a tip. Until I noticed she was using the plastic bags and not my reusable ones. She literally moved them to the side. I said oh I don't use the plastic bags that's why I have these. And I hold up my reusable bags. She goes oh. I thought those were for your coat. What?! WHAT?! Not only did she not fix her error, she stood at the end of the lane and didn't continue to bag my groceries. So I had to stand off to the side and hold the bag in midair trying to bag all of my items because she was at the landing spot for the groceries. Honestly, I have never once experienced this. I used to live in Hawaii where plastic bags are banned. If there ever is an employee standing at the end of the register I never bagged my groceries because I assume they want the line to move quickly. The exact opposite happened yesterday. read more

Wow! This ShopRite has come such a long way. They have slightly remodeled the store, making some of the isles wider and adding additional closed, Glass refrigerators for items such as milk & eggs; this truly has given it a cleaner look. Now if they could just work on making the lines shorter we would be alright. ShopRite is one of my least favorite places to go, but I will say I appreciate the changes, the new found cleanliness and the wipes for the carts at the store entry. Hoping to see shorter lines and more improvements in the future. read more

I was pleased to find products I have only been able to find a long drive away in Twin City or Supermercado Bravo. Is it a little rough around the edges? My neighborhood supermarket. I prefer this one then the one near Woodbridge, even though that one is bigger. There's better deals at this Shoprite. Like the past summer we had these giant $3.99 watermelon deals. I went to other Shoprites and they didn't have the same deals. Just picked up some ultra large Pomegranate from POM for $1 each! The place overall is ok, not the cleanest but not the dirtiest I've been to. The fish section needs a major upgrade, not much fresh seafood. The produce area also needs more selection, I know a lot of NJ folks are over weight and poor eaters but give fresh produce area a make over could help. Overall, good local super market that always have better deals than pathmark. read more

I recently bought cold cuts and got food poisoning. An hour later after eating the chicken breast shop rite brand I vomit and had diarrhea. But I don't believe it was the cold cuts, I think it was the employee who was wearing gloves and did not change them when she had to go to the back to get more cheese. After coming back from grabbing the cheese with the gloves on , she did not change her gloves and started to cut up the slices. I accepted a sample from her and then I suffered the consequences. Produce is fresher than Pathmark on Stiles, where I once saw dried asparagus. Shoprite also apparently has the hardest-to-find DVDs at real steals. Since it's 24 hrs, it's great shopping late at night! the few times I've been there, I haven't found it to be shady and had had helpful employees. read more

I live closer to Pathmark, so that's why I go there instead. Shoprite is cheaper...but the other thing that Pathmark has over it is: Self Check Out. Sometimes there are a ton of lines here...so you'll only see me around after midnight. Whereas, in Pathmark, I can buy the whole store in under 10 minutes. I'm fast. The Asian take out food is so bland and way overpriced. I'm not sure why they would attempt Chinese food when there are so many local authentic take out places. I'm guessing it's not cooked in a wok and it's missing all those spices and flavorings they usually put in. They food looks so good and it's cooked very nice but it just tastes so plain. Always busy, always dirty. The cashiers are slow, you have to spend minimum 10minutes waiting in the line. The store is overpacked, no space to move. Rather go to Clark. Edit: again, I went there for few thing and I had to stand in line for 15minutes. TOO SLOW! You should have special registers for the people who are paying with the welfare checks. read more

Although the location can seem intimidating to some , this Shop Rite is huge w/ a ton of variety. Due to the surrounding neighborhoods and population they have decent international foods/ snacks / drinks selections. Coupons are always available in Sunday paper and circulars offer great deals. Shopping carts take one quarter to remove from others and it's returned when you put the cart back. There is also a Red Box movie rental machine located before the exit to the store. There are always people working / restocking / cleaning. I've never experienced poor customer service. read more

Living between this Shoprite and the one is Woodbridge, I usually only go to Linden when I need to pick up a couple of things. The store seems dirtier than others, not as much selection as Woodbridge and not much of a prepared foods section (foods to just take home and heat up). The deli counter is good. They don't have a full fledged bakery dept. The seafood dept is small and the last time I was there I had to wait until the guy in back looked up to see that I was waiting for a while. The three stars is relative, in that this is a Shoprite. In Linden. Still, the management has been making some strides--the produce section is improving and there are now some organic products here and there. Perhaps management is testing the shoppers by forcing them to play hide and seek for organic? Also, there is an international aisle with a surprising amount of products from a surprising number of countries. But you still have to have a quarter to play with a cart. read more

Located off of 1 & 9 in Linden, NJ inside of a plaza that has the following stores: Michael's (Craft store) Target Liquor Store Home Depot BBQ Buffet Movie Theater Dragonfly (Asian Restaurant) & Chevy's (Mexican Restaurant) Starbucks Game Stop (Video Store) and a small hand full of clothing store for women and children as well. Staff is always friendly in the deli department. Sales tags are always up to date. Store is clean, bright and neat. For overall experience, this Shoprite is cleaner and more visually appealing than the one in Elizabeth. But if you're any sort of experienced grocery shopper, you know this might be more of a warning sign than anything else. This Shoprite has considerably less sales than the one in Elizabeth, and their produce is more expensive. However, it's conveniently located in a shopping mall where Target, Home Depot, AC Moore, restaurants, a Starbucks, and AMC are also planted. So, depending on your needs, this might be the Shoprite for you. However, I almost always choose Elizabeth. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this particular Shoprite. Love: It's brighter and newer than some other Shoprites and it's somewhat close to my house. Love some of the employees and love that the store manager is quite hands on. He can be quite helpful at times. Love that the produce is usually decent and far better than Pathmark. Love the variety of products from different nationalities (Polish butter, IMusa espresso pots, different sesame oils, fried catfish at the hot foods bar, and so much more.) LOVE (!!!!) the good prices. Hate: The young ladies at the customer service desk. So unnecessarily rude and they work with the idea that there is an odd hierarchy of employees in the store. (Let's just say that if you are some type of vendor in the store, don't expect respect unless you're in good with them.) They removed a lot of the more specialty natural products a few years ago, so I can no longer easily find things like tofu or vegan products. The store is crowded with merchandise so it's difficult to navigate your cart through the aisles on busy days. Overall, with this Shoprite, you get what you get. It's Linden, the land of mediocrity and low expectations. Hopefully they improve and also still offer the good things they've got going for them. read more

This shoprite is the best..they are currently renovating...they have moved items all over the place so that you spend a lot more time in the atore..if you haven't been there for a few months you will be in there forever,nothing is in the same place...prices have increased a bit,probably to pay for the work being done...overall still well stocked,looks bigger and wider,customer service is excellent...quick note:watch your receipt before you leave One cashier overcharged me 30 dollars,she probably pocketed the money because she was wearing a top of the line apple watch,God knows how many other people she has done this to...I complained and did get my money back even though it was a couple of weeks later... read more

I went to the seafood department in ShopRite in Linden today and got 3 pieces of wild caught Atlantic salmon. I was getting ready to season the fish now and a WORM just came out of the salmon and is just swimming around in my dish that I was going to season the salmon in. In the prepared-foods refrigerator case next to the chilled fried chicken, the five stars above are exclusively for Linden Shop Rite's store-made macaroni and cheese! I'm not talking about what's under those hot lights nearby (not dissing it; I just have never had it). I'm biased, of course, but there's nothing more satisfyingly delicious than my own handcrafted macaroni and cheese casserole, but I only make it a few times a year during the cooler months and Thanksgiving. Shop Rite's is the only store-bought mac and cheese I've tasted that's good enough to pass off as my own! Of course, now that I put the word out, my favorite dish may become scarcer. On two recent craving occasions there was none to be found. The store had substituted an awful boxed variety that I only made the mistake of buying once. I'm hoping that they'll just make more! Over the years customer service at this location has really suffered. While I really enjoy the product offering and prices - and that should be the most important thing to me - I can't help but notice the shoddy service provided by the cashiers. Without exception, every single time I shop in this location (minimum of once a week) the cashiers are more involved in having conversations with each other than in paying attention to ringing up my order. Now, in addition to their conversations, they've become more unprofessional with their use of profanity and off color topics, all in front of customers, many with young children. And it's a good thing I prefer to bag (they're almost never stocked with bags either) because they're so distracted they're putting maybe 3 items per bag, and I'm leaving with way more bags then necessary. I can't remember the last time I was greeted, I was thanked, or treated respectfully as a customer. I blame this poor customer service on management, whoever they may be (there seems to be an absence of management or supervision of any type, other than those who get change for the cashiers). Can they really not see how poorly their cashiers are conducting themselves? Can they really not hear the talking, the laughing, the joking, the profanity? Maybe I won't hear it soon either if I decide to take my business across the street. read more

Great local business and friendly staff. I love their dinner entrees and it was easy as I was staying at the Hampton Inn at the same shopping plaza. Although I was an out of towner they always scanned the ShopRite savings card for me to provide the discounts. If I am every back in Linden for work I will certainly be back here. read more

I went shopping there early this morning at the beginning of the storm to grab a few things, since my favorite store ACME was already closed. The store was in the middle of stocking, no problem, that's expected. Several employees, not all , acted as though it was such an inconvenience to go down an aisle or to an area to get an item. These rude employees act as if you don't have any other choices in shopping locations. No customers mean no jobs. I've been to this store several times in the past and had some excellent cashiers. So, this is not reflective of all employees. I've only been to one other ShopRite in NJ, and that was in Newark. That experience was to return some produce that was very poor quality. The girl behind the counter was so busy playing around with this young man, and the girl that processed the return had such a nasty attitude, I vowed to NEVER return to that location. Perhaps the Shoprites in other areas have better service. ShopRite should spend more money protecting their customer service brand, increasing wages for better quality employees instead of advertising to get people into the store. If you fix one issue, poor service, the people will come. read more

This is by far the worst store I've ever bee to. I have to shop late because of my work schedule, the employees are rude & not very helpful. I asked the cashier if she could help me bag the groceries because I had an injured wrist, ,,(I was wearing a brace on it), she said that I was in the, "bag ypur own groceries" line & continued to talk to the other cashier. I looked at the sign, the only lanes open were the "bag your own groceries". The maintenance man started to help me, she told him that's not his job & to get back to work. I wanted to slap her!! It's sad and heartbreaking that we live in a society were doing the simplest thing like grocery shopping are subjected to prejudice and discrimination. On Friday, April 13th, I took my mom food shopping at Shop Rite in Linden, NJ.  There, we were repeatedly harassed by an elderly white woman, just because we were having a conversation in Spanish. This woman began to insult us and said "we need to talk English". Afterwards, she followed my mom and I through the aisles of the store saying things like...you deserve to die...go back to Mexico where you came from...you're a tramp that will never get married..." and so on.  I was born in Puerto Rico, raised in New Jersey and I am proud to be who I am. Not only did i feel highly offended and disrespected but she made my mom feel worse. My mom wants nothing to do with Shop Rite in Linden because this was the 3rd time we were hounded and attacked verbally by a racist person. I tried seeking help by reporting the woman to customer service and speaking with store manager but the issue was not addressed nor resolved. Management did absolutely nothing but say she was a regular and that they will speak to her. read more
