A huge Shop Rite with plenty to chose from, as long as you can find it fresh. As far as the produce goes, everything seems to be solid. Prepared foods, not so much. Every time I walk past the section, the food looks dried and pretty old. not even stirred or fluffed to make it look better. It's a shame as they offer a pretty decent selection. The one time I had sushi, however, I can't really complain too much. Also quite a few times, in the meat department, Ive seen some pretty nasty looking packaged chicken. im not exactly versed on the dynamics of chicken, btu Im sure it's not supposed to be orange... Ive been here a lot, and it's ALWAYS crowded. Obviously not a fault of the store, but it's an important factor if you really are pressed for time or just generally dislike crowds. Employees seem cool and never had a problem. They always seem to keep busy and Ive seen them help out customers often, so that's good. Also, no self checkout lanes! Overall-- you can do better than here but the location keeps it too convenient for me. read more

I stop in 615am Thursday for rice cakes and almond butter. Unfortunately there is one register open with 7 people online and one dude is shopping for the week. No way I'm waiting 25 min to purchase 2 items. Maybe one of the 4 employees outside smoking could have opened another register. read more

I loved the store when it first opened it was clean and neat and the people were courteous. Now every time I go in there I try to beat the crowds so I go early and when I go early there is no need to select from. If I go late to stores crowded and the employees are the ones that are blocking the isles and rude. The employees will give you a dirty look if you move their cart or try to reach in front of them to grab an item that you're looking for. I am so tired of this place. There is no where else local to shop for at their prices so now I am driving over 10 miles away to ShopRite in Woodbridge and it's much better because even though it takes me longer to get there if you count the amount of time I would spend in Linden and not having to go back again it's much less time for the Entire weeks worth of shopping read more

The staff argues between each other, talk back to costumers. There is no respect for customers and the staff is not professional. This ShopRite should train their employees. Checkout takes forever. This is by far the worst store I've ever been to. read more

I thought that I would never have to write a review about a Shoprite!! I came here on Monday 5/16/16 Let me first start off by saying that if you need a shopping cart, bring a quarter!! The woman at the cold cut counter was beyond rude!! She had a nasty attitude and didn't even greet us or smile. She looked up and was like yea?? She hardly spoke any English and had no clue what certain meats and cheeses we asked for. I asked to have my meat and cheese sliced then and they were so thick anyway! She could care less about us. Another rude employee was over by the burgers, chicken and sausages. She was blasting her loud music on her phone (she wasn't hearing head phones) and when I said excuse me ( because she was in my way) she turned around and gave me such a nasty look and rolled her eyes and moved away. I couldn't believe it! The guy at the register was so slow and hardly spoke. I knew I should have gone to my better Shoprite by my house but I thought this one would have more items. It doesn't. I will never come here again. Shoprite should be ashamed of hiring such rude, nasty, awful, disrespectful people. I work with the public and I would never ever treat my customers like that! I will make sure everyone hears about this and that no one goes there and give them business! I'm not surprised by all the reviews that people have on here about this Shoprite. I ordered a birthday cake online for my sons birthday. I ordered on a Monday and it was set to be picked up on Saturday. When my husband went to pick up the cake they had no idea what he was talking about. They then apologized and said no one checked the emails. What the hell!? So the said they would make it quickly and would be ready in 5 mins. I really don't want a rushed bday cake for my kids birthday, but now we have no time to go anywhere else. So unprofessional. You're bakery offers online ordering, how does no one check the email in a week? Ridiculous. read more

This store is different from some of the other stores. I like that a cater to their community. I don't like their shopping carts. It is a pain to come up with 25 cents all the time. read more

The shop rite itself is pretty nice and well organized, it's the employees and lack of sales that drove my rating down. On several occasions, I've been in the regular check out lines and the clerk will not bag my groceries or just stop in the middle of bagging to talk to friends on other check out lines leaving me to bag it myself. I said something to one of them last time I was there and was given an attitude and she reluctantly bagged them. Almost every time I've been there , the staff looks miserable and cannot answer simple questions like where an item is located. The sales are better in Elizabeth ans Clark in my opinion. read more

The child at the register 4 was absolutely nightmare. She was upset I approached the register, she would not scan my phone for my card- stating she doesn't do that, as she continued to pop gum. I never come to this shoprite and now I was reminded as to why even in an emergency basis not to come here. read more

ShopRite at Linden is the worst!! Shopped there after work January 4 2017. What a disaster! Clark, Woodbridge, Carteret and Edison is FAR superior to customer and friendly to shop in and find everything your looking for! FIRST The Linden Deli Department people were rude but I truly understand why because they told us were off the time clock and were still serving customers although Shop Rite (the NUMBER 1 grocery Store in NJ) would not pay them overtime or even standard time! There even was a woman there that placed a deli order in their computer more than an hour before the Deli closed and she was told in front of me by a nasty deli woman that because she didn't have a ticket, she would NOT be served. They also threatened a man in a wheelchair that he would not served because he was vocal and didn't stop complaining. The man was calling them out and they didn't like it! Thankfully, the customer service people ended up helping out the woman who had placed the order over an hour before the Deli Dept. closed. Luckily, I had taken a Deli ticket when I first walked in and did all my shopping as there was 12 customers ahead of me. I shopped for OVER an hour and when I came back I was 3 servings away and I waited. I did not receive what I asked for (as they were out of it and was given what was left over (not told they were out of the product I asked for!) Is this what ShopRite has become??? Does ShopRite want to be "THE ONE" New Jerseyans want to shop at (OR should we go with to Whole Foods and other local markets?) I and every customer there sincerely believe either they need more help (in the Deli) or the Deli staff need to stop cleaning up BEFORE their scheduled closing time and take the extra 15 minutes to clean the glass and the slicers. The cleaning staff (which was slower than molasses) needs to help the slicers. I strongly suggest IF they close at 10pm END the number taking at 9:30 and tell ALL the customers as they are cleaning so there will be no more orders. For MANY years I can confirm the Linden Deli department has been slow and terrible for many years w/ a lot of turnovers. If this is a 24 hour store this is unacceptable especially just before a winter storm! Tonight, I and several others complained to the store manager about the Deli people and the extremely long lines and chaos which was badly managed. (ONLY 5 registers out of 20 were opened!!!) shoppers blocked the ENTIRE main aisle to get to a register. I waited over an hour on line! I asked the store manager how could I even get to a line? People were cutting and going on Express lines even though they had MORE than 15 or 20 products. Then the line I was waiting on for over an hour shut the light off because of Wick checks were not going through. I read an 2 People magazines and made several phone calls during my wait!!! The manager on duty has NO clue how to run a store! He didn't talk to the employees standing around and send them to open registers. He didn't talk to his Deli staff! The night manager told me and other patrons he was sorry and couldn't help anything that was going because the night crew called out and he was doing the best he could! Unacceptable!! He is not a good manager! Otherwise, he would have organized (the mess) which is what a manager does!! Shame on Shop Rite!!! read more

I travel a long way to shop here because of the other stores in the mall but I am seriously beginning to re think this they constantly put sales tags in front of non sale items the deli needs help and dont expect to find anything they advertise in their sale ads because they have very few and will not give a rain check and then say things like oh it says supplies limited really you get 10 for the whole store but you send out 2000 sales ads just to get people in the store in the hopes they will buy something else this is just wrong. and when we tell you about it we get a canned response like the one Louanna L. of Scotch Plains got I got the same letter and still its business as usual I am looking for someplace else to shop because shoprite/wakefern doesn't seem to do anything but bait and switch and play pass the buck. Please dont bother to tell me how each store is individually owned I already got your canned response and it didn't make me feel any better or even think that you cared.I just wanted to let you know I am definately looking for some where else to shop that will at least be fair with me and give me a fair chance to purchase what is advertised. read more
