: it would have been 5 Stars but I literally have beef with an employee who made a simple thing into his own struggle... I usually have a good impression of this ShopRite, especially because the store manager, Mr. Bishop, has always been friendly, approachable, and easy to speak with. That is why my recent experience at the food court was so disappointing. I went to the food court and stood at the counter for about 2-3 minutes while the male cashier remained at the register. He eventually asked whether I needed help, and I told him I wanted to order two cheeseburgers. The cashier then went to get another employee from the food area, an older tall white man. When he came over, he did not greet me, ask what I wanted, or look at me. He simply began packaging a cheeseburger. I politely said, "Excuse me, sir." He stopped but still did not look at me. I then said, "Sir?" At that point, he looked up at me in a very unfriendly way. I asked, "I'm sorry, sir, may I get one of those burgers with the two-sides lunch special?" Instead of responding professionally or clarifying the order, he walked away without saying anything, stopped to fiddle with a weight scale, then came back and told me I needed to "say that from the start." That was frustrating because he had never actually asked me for the details of my order. He seemed to be going only by what the cashier told him. The situation got worse when I asked a question about burger toppings. He walked away again and told me I needed to "figure out" what I wanted before coming to order. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable ordering from him. I said, "No thanks, you have a great day," and left the food court without buying the burgers. I then went to the front and spoke with the assistant manager, a curly-haired blonde woman, who was very kind and professional. I had hoped to speak with Mr. Bishop because he has met me before and knows I am friendly and respectful. I would never purposely aggravate or offend an employee. I honestly do not understand why this worker seemed so annoyed from the beginning. I came in for two cheeseburgers, asked a normal question about a lunch special and toppings, and ended up leaving without food because of how uncomfortable the interaction became. The ambiance & experience was very uncomfortable, but I still appreciate the store overall, and management has been positive in my experience, but I was very upset by this visit. Next time, I will refuse service from that particular employee so I can hopefully have a better customer experience. read more

The people who work in the deli department need to start changing the plastic gloves between each customer like many other shop-rite stores do. I stood in line and watched one employee serve 5 customers, wipe his hands on his apron, scratch is nose and touch almost every surface around him. I walked away! I don't feel like I need to ask an employee to do the correct and sanitary operation like changing gloves for obvious health reasons. I have spoken to management about this several times. Nothing changed! This should be a basic part of training. With all of the germs & bacteria out there I do not want them on every slice of meat I order. Food safety should be a priority, not an option! read more

I've shopped at 6 ShopRites in many different towns. So far, my favorite ShopRite is The Bound Brook ShopRite. This is a Super ShopRite. It's very large compared to other ShopRites but the biggest plus for me is they do a really good job at stocking and replenishing food and goods. That's one of my biggest pet peeves that many ShopRites just don't keep up with their stocking. If you go on a Sunday or Monday, a lot of the ShopRites are completely cleaned out by me. There's not enough of them and too many towns using the same ShopRite so they tend to run out often. I haven't experienced this with the Bound Brook ShopRite. Bound Brook ShopRite sells items I just can't get at other stores. Example Roasted Garlic powder and unique spices. They have brands from all over the world. They are laid out by sections, Chinese, Jamaican, Jewish, Italian,, Norwegian, Spanish etc. Their produce department is wonderful. They have a Specialty Cheese Department, Fish Department, cold Cuts and Salads Department etc. They have an Antipasto Bar that has all different types of Olives and Cheeses on it. Every time I go I buy their Antipasto which has Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Provolone, Mozzarella Balls, different types of Olives, Cherry Peppers along with Roasted Peppers, It's all wonderful. If you're pressed for time and not into cooking, they cover that too. They have staff making fresh Soups,Chinese Food, Fried Chicken, along with many prepared options. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They offer a nice selection of gluten free options. They sell homage pastas, kielbasa and sausages etc. When I want cold cuts I go online to their ShopRite Express and place my order so I don't have to stand in line. I can choose the time I want my order to be ready and I coordinate that with my shopping they keep it refrigerated right across from the deli. They put your name on it along with your phone number and off you go you don't have to wait. The Bound Brook ShopRite is neat and clean. This place also has a Pharmacy and Floral section. This is a very busy store and the parking lot can get packed. There is handicapped parking not far from the entrance and electric seated shopping carts. This is a decent Shop Rite. It's owned by Saker which means it carries Dearborn Farms baked goods, and they are the best! The floral department is also amazing and many times I have found beautiful potted plants of all kinds, that were nicer than what I could find at an independent florist. Five stars for the bakery here and the florist! This store has a bank inside with a Coinstar machine. They have a huge selection of cigars. They have a whole aisle with greeting cards, both sides. It's a really big store and I can usually get everything from my shopping list, even more unusual produce like star fruit or jicama. I have to deduct a star for the self-checkout which is pretty annoying and very glitchy. The sensors often say there's something in the bagging area when there isn't and I have to shuffle things around until the computer allows me to proceed. I choose to have a cashier check me out whenever I can but sometimes the lines are extremely long and there aren't enough cashiers so I am forced to use self-checkout or wait 15 minutes on line. Check the expiration dates. Today I picked up several chocolate milks that were past the expiration date. read more

I am a long time customer due to convenient location. Unfortunately this Shop Rite Customer Service has gotten ridiculously incompetent. Now when you use your digital coupons if Shop Rite doesn't have stock you either have to keep coming back or don't buy at all because Shop Rite won't give a raincheck. The sale started on Sunday and today is Monday having gone twice , but no stock! When you do go to customer service they often have new people by themselves and they don't know what they're doing or can't help you. I had a women just walk away from me in the middle of explaining what I needed! Just left mid sentence and went in the little back room! Yikes! Why be in customer service if you don't want to help customers??? I have come to hate shopping here because it ends up being a waste of time and I leave with an empty basket. read more

So far so good. I just moved and had to find a new grocery store. I have to say that this one is much than the ShopRite I was utilizing. The produce is way more fresh, staff consistently available. Even during a really busy time, I wasn't waiting on line for an extended period of time. I was sad that they ran out of my favorite laundry detergent but it was on sale at a great price so I get it. I could have asked for a rain check but forgot. I entered later in the evening and saw so many staff members cleaning and restocking. Unusual for me to see that at my previous store. I know there are stores much closer to me but cleanliness and customer service are my main requirements. I will travel for that. I hope they never disappoint. read more

Hard to believe I've yet to review here after ordering online pickup deliveries here for the last year, roughly monthly during my procurement runs from Brooklyn. It's hard to summarize so very many wonderful online pickups but the ShopRite From Home program deserves so much more wonderful praise, especially the workers who've not only done heroic community service at far-too-low pay and who officially can't accept tips but whose dedication to great customer service warrants immense praise I know not how to publicly praise other than here. I really need to ask their names as their name tags are often missing or not shown. The pickup process is always straightforward. Either one drives up to 1 of the 2 SRFH spots (always open), parks, calls the number on the placard at these spots, they come out, drop in your trunk/frunk, and off you go. There's no better experience. They're not supposed to take tip but if you do it discreetly, all the better. I've had a few times where the SRFH desk isn't staffed, but the customer service desk just a few seconds walk away has all the dibs on how to contact the SRFH staff if they're out picking items. Also, staff are universally kind and understanding, perhaps because they're young and optimistic, but regardless, I enjoy such an aire greatly as I've lived in Brooklyn too long. They alert by text message with a link to a custom status page when they pick the order if anything is not available as-ordered. The detail is supreme, akin to Amazon/WFM/Prime/OmniCorp's service levels. There's no reason not to use ShopRite from Home to say nothing about the PricePlus member website's multitude of affiliated grocery and cooking services to truly help you live better. read more

Always a problem with coupons at this Shop Rite location- Bound Brook NJ. As a result you need to proceed to customer service where employees should be aware of the sale items. It's never a smooth transaction. After taking a picture of the sale sign and then bringing the employee at customer service over to where the item was displayed and stocked I still did not receive the proper discount as advertised. Do yourself a favor and go to the Somerville NJ Shop Rite location where you will receive excellent customer service. read more

This is a wonderful store. The management is very vested in arranging the items logically and convenient for all customers. I am partially handicapped and was delighted to see greeting cards moved to the front of the store so that one sis not have to hunt through the entire store for cards. The employees are cheerful and helpful and clearly take pride in the store. The esprit de Corps reminds me of our Midwest culture. I enjoyed shopping this store I thought it was very well laid out it was huge and well stocked everything seem to have a nice presentation. They have a small cafe style sit down area and a hot and cold food bar for the lunch rush. Every department had ready to go items either sliced deli meat or prepackage seafood or other similar ready-made meals ready to cook. I did have to ask for help to find a couple items that weren't where I thought they would be and employees were more than willing to show me the right way. I came here quite late a couple times they're open till midnight which I found very convenient for me. The only complaint I have is the parking lot it is a mess and I don't know if that something they're working on or if they're not they definitely should start. Overall cashiers were friendly and the store is clean when I shopped. read more

While reading the sale flyer with the weekly specials, I notice a great coupon special for roast pork and a sale price for seamed eye round beef roasts starting Sunday. Today is Sunday so I ask my family which they prefer and the answer is beef. I head to ShopRite in Bound Brook without the pork coupon. As I arrive, the screwed up revolving door entrance is blocked by an oblivious employee creating a pumpkin display. Too many people trying to enter and leave the store. All I can think is what the fire inspector would do if he saw this cluster fk. I arrive at a nearly empty meat case and find beef roasts labeled as eye round but I can't find any of the seamed roasts tied with string like the one pictured in the ad. I ask an employee and she tells me it's not her department but a young man emerges from the back and tells me that the meat cutter is working alone because another employee got cut and had to leave. I finally talk to the meat cutter and he says he will bring out more in eye round roasts in 20 minutes. I wait for them and they look like top round roasts exactly like the ones in the case. At this point I take one and after checking out, I stop at customer service and ask Scott, the customer service representative who I'm getting to know too well since the store has become a sht show. He agrees that what they sold me does not resemble the image in the sale flyer and he'll bring the issue to management. I am totally disgusted with ShopRite. I can't find my favorite products like Mellow Yellow which Coca Cola Atlanta informs me they still produce but ShopRite doesn't order. I try to save on Folgers using their clipless coupon and their computer system doesn't credit my order. They often can't keep their shelves stocked. Products are discontinued without informing customers. They can't seem to hire enough good employees. This store should be closed or have a total management replacement. They have gone from a good store to one of the worst in the area. Shop elsewhere. read more

I really did not like this ShopRite. It is very clean, and is very well stocked. Well. almost everything. This did have a kosher section, but it was completely empty, which was kind of the reason I came here. The layout is also quite confusing, and it was very hard for me to find stuff. Also, what I don't like is the revolving door entrance. Revolving doors belong in hotels or office buildings. Not supermarkets. You could be dragging your shopping cart inside, and you'd have to push yourself with the shopping cart inside, and you could almost get crushed! Thankfully, it did not happen to me! Every thing from the service desk to the shoppers and even my delivery guy have been a pleasure to deal with. My questions are always taken care of. The shoppers seem to always send me great quality. I shop using the shop at home app and delivery service for my daughters Lindsey family. i am staying with her while her husband is deployed. With two kids and the threat of covid I can not praise this shop rite enough. Last spring I used several other shop rites for this service. Bound brook leads the pack. They are spot on with picking up exactly what I ask for and if there is a substitute they have a way to clear that with me too. The delivery service they use is clean fast and the guy is so nice. I called last week because something was left out of my order. The young women who answered the call was not only polite but had the items dropped off for me. This is customer service at its finest. Bad reviews here are crazy, the supermarket has almost anything you can think of, it is one of the most well-stocked supermarkets around. If Kings doesn't have it if Acme doesn't have it if Whole Foods doesn't have it ShopRite always has it. This ShopRite is also located in a diverse section so I can find things here that I can't find anywhere else if I'm shopping for international cuisine. There's a great health food section the produce is excellent the salad bar is great the premade meals are fantastic, do you have to wait in the deli line sometimes sure so what who cares get over it people bad reviews here are just stupid and ignorant. And I don't care about the parking lot, I have a nice car so I always take the farthest spot away closest to Burger King. read more

Customer Service Poor: First time using ShopRite from home - Bound Brook; website wont accept review so I thought I'd use yelp. Delivery was within timeframe 3-5 PM. Witnessed when refrigerated door opened my bucket containing 5 bags dumped in street, were picked up and brought in the house - along with waters I ordered. Tipped driver who was very nice. Unpacked bags, 4 of 6 break stone cottage doubles were damaged along with 1 sour cream. Was told kaytee woodlands wild bird food 18lb (ordered 3) was out of stock, amongst other items. Was disappointed so called store - informed 8 in stock. Got in my car and rode to Bound Brook ShopRite. I shopped for missing items unaware some items not in stock I could authorize substitutions. ShopRite at Home would not take my complaint was told to call Supervisor tomorrow morning and to go to Customer Service. After I checked out (purchased 2 kaytee birdseed 18lb clearly in stock) plus other items went to Customer Service. Again no help (she simply shrugged) then said ok to write to Corporate, address comments to Mr Saker. Store Manager was not available. Will be calling store/looking to get exchanges tomorrow due to damages - even though was told no exchanges, refunds or rain checks during COVID. Only alternative is to eat all tomorrow! I'm so disappointed. Me and my mom have always loved getting our cakes from their bakery department for special occasions. A few weeks ago we put in a order for a cake for my graduation cake for my party. Today we went to go pick it up and before we could even see the cake bc the top was over we just assumed it came out amazing like they always do. We got home and took of the top and it brought extreme disappointment to our faces. I'm almost embarrassed to have people see my cake at my graduation party tomorrow. The wording on it is so sloppy, they are not even straight or even nicely written. The designs such as the balloons are so chunky and they look like golf balls. Since ShopRite no longer provides plastic bags they should keep their shopping carts and conveyer belts cleaner. There are many times when the conveyer belt you put your food on is very dirty. Also the shopping carts are often dirty and have debris in them. The store should clean the conveyer belts and shopping carts as a mandatory practice. The time that was once used for bagging the items should now be used to clean the conveyor belts and shopping carts. Also the plastic bags near the bakery/rolls section often reaches the floor. ShopRite is a big store - and usually a good store but their sanitation practices need to be improved. read more

Visited there a few weeks ago and the store manager was going around kicking people out of the store on Easter 1 minute after closing time, which was 3 pm rather than the normal 10 pm or whatever -- which was NOT communicated well enough. (Suggestion -- for the 20 minutes before the store closes, have 2 workers standing in front warning any customers walking in. An 8 x 11 piece of copy paper scrawled with marker and taped to a hand sanitizer stand on the way in doesn't cut it.) Over this issue, I personally watched this GM seem to try to provoke a customer into a fist fight! He was trying to get one single item off the shelf, a loaf of bread or something, the manager was LIVID and wouldn't let him. Obviously the staff there is underpaid, and getting to leave early on Easter is their single benefit. Thanks, buddy, and Easter thanks you too. As my reviews reflect, I just had an incident at another ShopRite (Watchung) with other ShopRite managers -- maybe I am used to being treated well, but if these two ShopRites are any indication then ShopRite has a serious problem with its corporate culture. Is there a rule that a black or hispanic person, or a female, can't be a GM?? I know enough workers well enough at both of those stores to be sure that you have somehow managed to attract some good folks as workers. PROMOTE THEM. Wrong Century, folks! Buh bye. read more

I have posted pic's of proof of how terrible this store is. I will continue to pop in to take pic's but not go buy food. My last last straw was the rotten chicken that leaked all over me. It smelled like vomit. It GOT all over my brand new coat. It was most horrific experience I have had in a grocery store!!! It's a very long story and wish not to get upset again. Also every day I would pop in there day or night carts would be bashed up against the cars. I complained multiple times to the store Manager BECAUSE PEOPLE like my mom who are Handicapped would have to get out of their cars, move A Bunch of carts so they can park In Handicapped. I has no choice and went the other night, got precut apples, pic shows they are rotted. This has happened manu time's before but i let it slide. I'm not going to give ANY PLACE A REVIEW THEY DNT deserve so I CAN BE ELITE. I'm so fed up with bad customer service! !!!!! It makes me sick. It's been a few years since I've been to this ShopRite and instead visit the one in Somerville. I actually like the renovations that have occurred here, and their Nutrition Center is much more extensive than the one in Somerville. There is much better organization of the organic/natural food aisles, and the store has a newer look. I didn't shop the entire store on my last visit, but I was pleased at what I did see. The parking is still a bit nuts, but I didn't find the inside difficult to maneuver at all. read more

Sure parking is hectic and the deli lines are slow, but where is it not? As for carts, the parking lot is a mess because of our fellow customers who refuse to return their carts in the proper spot. Not once have I ever had an issue at this location. I have membership at BJs and Costco so that is where I do most of my shoppings,but whenever I need something the last minute this is the store I head to. Employees are friendly and are always at work not just standing around dilly dallying . Over all the store is very clean,has great weekly sales, and good quality of food. Tip for the whiny customers: Best time to shop is either early in the AM 6-8 or Friday evenings. Just because you choose to shop at the rush hour doesn't mean you should take your frustration at the employees or the store. read more

Your average neighborhood supermarket. Nothing exceptional except maybe the extensive Goya section. Parking can get a little cut throat if you prefer not to walk far. There's a redbox here by the checkout which is a bonus. Not too crazy about their cashiers, can definitely be friendlier. read more
