I absolutely love La Bon! They have so many options that you really don't need any other bakery. I order cakes here from all birthdays and significant events and they are able to accommodate different dietary restrictions. For example, I got a vegan cake for my mom's birthday and I didn't even miss the dairy. For my daughter's birthday, they recreated exactly the cake that I wanted based only on a picture, and it was perfect! There are a few gluten-friendly options and they are able to accommodate a lot of custom requests with some advanced notice. I love that they have specials for different holidays. I recently started taking advantages of their specials: I ordered a Triple Mousse Cake from their Valentine's Day specials (soooo good!) and a Berry Deluxe King Cake from their Mardi Gras specials. I'm always on the lookout on social media to see what the next specials are to be able to treat myself. read more

This was our second visit to La Bon Bake Shoppes, and we were in search of some cupcakes to compliment our barbeque and satisfy the cravings for both adults and children. The blue mermaid cupcakes were the dessert of choice for the four year old, to accompany an assortment of chocolate, vanilla and key lime cupcakes for the adults. The cupcakes were very attractive, and the key lime was a big hit with the adults. We were less impressed with the plain vanilla and chocolate. The mermaid cupcake was not only appreciated by the four year old, to her delight, she benefited with a brilliant blue tongue and lips. I have been buying cheese crumb babKa loaf for years here! Even if over priced it was delicious! I ordered like always but when my husband came back from picking it up OMG it is so much smaller! Not only is it smaller it has no crumbs and hardly no cheese in it plus it was over cooked almost burnt! If I had picked it up I would of asked for my money back! This was a small place part of a mini strip mall. There was a good amount of items as well as a few free samples to try from. The items ranged from cupcakes to pastries to scones, etc. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly. 2 donuts (glazed and chocolate) and a chocolate chip brownie were ordered. The donuts overall were disappointing. They were both too doughy, which made them dry. The glazed and chocolate flavoring were okay though. The chocolate chip brownie was better. Neighborhood bakery with cheesecake, cupcake cookies and cake varieties. It's priced right but the ambience and food was not very pleasing. Appeared more like a mediocre spot which could do a bit of sprucing up iwith their presentation and decor . They also have hot coffee to buy making it a perfect spot for a quick morning stop. I got the Hungarian , red velvet and brownie cheesecake. Looked moist and and my nieces liked the red velvet . Hungarian was the original cheesecake with a little crystallized sugar sprinkled on top. Not sure why the name ! Maybe thats how cheesecake is served in Hungary ! It's a quick neighborhood spot to pick up a treat but more sure of ordering a large cake for an occasion as they do have that too. My go to place for cakes, especially last minute because they have a pretty good selection. I'm not sure what happened to the cupcakes... don't get me wrong, they're edible but they're hard. So far I've had their assortment of cookies, Italian bread and tiramisu cake...all have been soo delicious and my friends and family love them too! I also want to mention how wonderful the bakery staff are. They are always so sweet and calm, they seem to have also attracted likeminded customers. I'll be honest, I usually get my cakes for special events from Sam's Club or Shoprite... cake is cake, right? But, it's really not. Cake from La Bonbonniere is reserved for more special, special occasions (they're priced a bit higher).. like my grandmother's recent 86th birthday. Every year is a blessing, but especially when reaching these milestones.. I said what the heck. and I'm glad that I did. It was beautiful, plentiful, and everyone raved about good it was. Reached out to them online when trying to order sheetcakes for an event. They were quickly responsive and patient for all the questions I had regarding sizing and pricing. When we finally put a to-go tasting order in, we were blown away by how many samples we recieved. It was basically a cake in its own! Some short while later we put or orders in and they were delivered to our event without any hiccups. We had lots of compliments on how good their cakes were. Their play on the traditional black n white cookie is more of a cake frosting and less of that hard shell like coating but none the less very tasty. Took home a couple of mini cheese cakes that killed the craving but honestly weren't great. Customer service and pricing are on point. We ordered catering for a corporate event, from here and will never order again. This place is great for their baked goods but catering not at all. First of all they didn't even get the order right, we told them no coffee, we received coffee and was charge $40. we ordered for 30 people for the executive breakfast and we did not have enough for 30 people. There was BARELY any eggs, and deff not enough for 30 people. They gave us a ton of orange juice that was expired with 01-15-2018 date (today is 2-10-18) I would call them and complain but it's not even worth it, we just know not to order from them again. We are upset because we expected more since their awesome with their baked goods. read more

Ordered sheet cake here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Had never used La Bon Bakery before and chose it based on reviews. They did a phenomenal job. I sent a pic of the happy couple to be used on top of the cake and the words I wanted on the cake. When I picked it up I was more than pleased. And when everyone saw the cake later that evening, they were also amazed at how great it looked. But looks aren't everything. Many times bakery sheet cakes are just okay. This cake wasn't just okay, it was super delicious. I picked a chocolate cake with fudge icing, request of the bride to be. Everyone commented on how delicious the cake was and kept going back for another piece even though stuff from dinner. The cake was chocolatey, moist and not overly sweet. I would definitely recommend La Bon to anyone looking to get a cake for a special occasion. Actually, I'd go there for any time I want a baked good. Great job La Bon! read more

After trying a couple treats from La Bonbonniere and coming HIGHLY recommended from my co-workers, I went in to the bakery to order a nice birthday cake for my friend. The two employees working immediately offered to help and offer recommendations. When I mentioned my friend likes tiramisu, I was informed that they have a tiramisu cake I could order! After looking around at many other tasty options, I decided to go with the employee's recommendation for the tiramisu cake. The next day, they had the cake ready on time, had some candles on hand for me to purchase, and best of all...the cake was amazing! Selection wasn't the most impressive, but they had everything I wanted so that was good. I LOVED the Italian rainbow cookies here- nice thick chocolate and real jelly. Just wonderful. The carrot cake was dense and had nuts, but the frosting was a little sweet and no raisins in the cake. That said, still very good. The only thing I got that I did not enjoy was the donut. Way too thick, and the icing ratio was off. Also a little stale. Just skip that. Bread looked great. I'd hit these guys up again. read more

I spoke to her letting her know about my food allergies. I asked her about the bread ingredients and she so sweet and very patient. I grabbed a coffee, bottles of water and soda / pop. She knew I was at the local hotel, she asked if I was going to walk back and I said yes. She said no you are not. I have to go get gas, I'll take you. I said no, not to worry. I grabbed the heavy bag and remembered the heat. I said, I'll pay you. She wasn't having it. She drove me back to the hotel. I learned that she is the owner! This is what I say is the best, most beautiful thing a restaurant could ever do for her customers. The ham and cheese were excellent. The coffee was so good. Barbara THANK YOU!!!! I don't even know where to begin! This is the BEST bakery hands down. I have never lived in the area where this bakery or their other location are in business but for years I have always had their cakes for special occasions through my family that lives nearby the bakeries. For my anniversaries, my son's graduation party, special dinners, my father's repast and NOW I live in Atlanta, Georgia for the last 2 1/2 years and I'm back in jersey to have first dinner with my daughters new in-laws. I asked to bring dessert and today I will pick up a cake in person for the very first time myself from La Bonbonniere bakery because I must bring the very best and there is no netter than this cake. My husband always requests this bakery whenever we lived in jersey and he would guard the slices I may pick up a smaller cake to travel home to Atlanta with....my bakery for life! read more

Stopped in during my lunch break for a snack and ended up walking out with a full try of sweets for my office. Hey had a sample basket where I was able to test the day special which happens to by a brownie, my favorite. I plan on returning later this month to place an order for a custom cake for my fathers retirement party. They had a book of recent cakes they had made in case I was bad at being creative, which I am.. Haha will be back real soon!! read more

I haven't tried too many cakes in the area so I can't truly compare to give it a full 5 star rating BUT the comments I hear a lot of is they use fresh fruit in their cakes. I usually get birthday cakes from Asian bakeries where fresh fruit is expected so that was an interesting comment to make from my POV. The fruit birthday cakes I've had from here are pretty good. Not too sweet and the most interesting fruit fillings I've had in cake - banana! Among other fruits. The cake isn't as light/airy as I'm used to but not bad at all. The buttercream is on the sweeter side for me but okay if you eat it with the cake and don't leave it until the end. It's not a terribly thick layer. But the cakes were super colorful and it's a lot of food coloring with how saturated the colors are. Your mouth and tongue will be stained if you're not careful. Having said that, I ordered an Oreo cake because that's why my kid wants. BUT I did request that instead of buttercream on the outside, it'll be whipped cream. Still buttercream on the inside though. I'll update this review after the party as it hasn't happened yet. This is a shop that sort of takes you back when you walk in. It's located in a corner shopping center of sorts and they have a shared parking lot so no need to hunt for parking. It has a nostalgic feel with display cases along much of the length, refrigerated sections for drinks (some were Asian which surprised me) and ice cream cake. Plus a wall of candles and birthday cake decorations because they do take a lot of orders for special occasions. No extra frills and nothing for decor's sake. There was a steady line when I went on Sunday morning. Two doors, one designed to be the entrance and the other the exit (but there isn't a police so use whichever door, but the line starts at the entrance door). As you walk up to the counter, someone will help you out. They've got all sorts of things from pastries to cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cannoli's, pies... even a tres leches section that was woefully empty. The only thing is for some odd reason, there are signs of what the items were, but absolutely no prices were posted in the display cases. At least none that I was aware of. I was passed onto the manager to take my order. It took a little time because I'm pretty sure she also decorates cakes and some people were waiting on them but I eventually got my order in. A 9" Oreo cake (for up to 16 people) with whipped cream exterior and birthday message is about $75. I added on a tres leches on a whim - they sold out early but a new batch just finished so I got one straight from the kitchen - was roughly $10. Receipts are old school, orders taken on a paper pad with a carbon copy given to you. I've had a number of tres leches cakes before and this is one of a kind! Deliciously moist, whipped topping - and the cake is halved. In between, they put fruit in there! Plus a maraschino cherry on top and cinnamon dusted over it. It was nowhere near "too sweet" and I rather enjoyed it. A lot. In fact, I'm thinking of calling in to see if I can get some for the party for the adults. My picky daughter loved it. Overall, I have a pretty good impression of this bakery and I'm looking to trying more items over time.
