Solid ShopRite location, everything was relatively clean and organized. Found what I needed and had no problem getting checked out quickly.

Recently found out that there was a change in store management. That could possibly explain what I perceive is a downward slope. The recent store renovation is beautiful. The deli service is still A1 as is the cleanliness of the store. Something is lacking tho'. Could it be the sparsely filled shelves? Or the lack of cashiers? Why the push for self check-out? This Shop Rite is much better than the one in Garwood which is less than a 1/2 mile away and is definitely worth 2 1/2 mile, six minute drive. The Clark ShopRite is well managed, clean and well organized. Employee morale is high, which means a friendlier environment and better customer service. The deli is a total mess! Place an order on the monitor instead of waiting in line and come back an hour later and still waiting! Where's the management here? Don't recommend spending your day at the deli! 7 people up front and 2 in the rear of the deli. I guess on Sundays management takes off. read more

Since my last review in 2014 This Shop Rite Store has come a long way .They r well stocked,Butcher area is very good .They changed The Store Manager Mr. Jubba took over the store again and it's very clean.I live in Jersey City but I still take a ride out to Clark NJ every once in awhile. read more

This store has always been in my regular rotation, and has now become my primary supermarket. Their prices are usually lower than the other supermarkets in the area. They have a lot of specialty items that I like and do not see elsewhere, like Dodoni Greek feta cheese and fresh Pechter's Russian sourdough rye bread daily. The produce here is always fresh, good quality, much of it locally sourced (in season), and reasonably priced, like $1.99 for a sweet pineapple from Costa Rica, or 99¢/lb for Jersey-grown yellow peaches. I don't usually buy meat at supermarkets--I get most of my proteins at butchers and/or fishmongers, like Barth's Market in New Providence, but I found some well-marbled beef skirt steaks here yesterday for $14.99 lb, and it was some of the best skirt steak I've had. This store has installed a dozen self-checkout stations, so you can get in and out quickly. The parking lot can be a madhouse, but if you come off-peak hours, it's not a problem. They also have a full service pharmacy. read more

Horrible Deli! I placed an express deli order when I first arrived and the time it told me was an hour. Okay, no problem, did my shopping, came back, still not ready. It is now a half hour passed the promise time, and the men working the deli won't talk to you, when a customer yelled for their order, they were told another hour, there are a lot of orders. The guy doing the express orders sure was not moving "expressly" and took about 5 or more minutes to start another order orders once one was completed... although, he sure had time to joke with the other men that "9 o'clock can't come soon enough". This deli is always packed with people but if you can't keep up with the speed and rate, maybe that's not the person to do your "express" orders. It was very clear he did not want to be there, did not want to work, or help people, and everything was just a joke. Horrible horrible service!!! read more

I am the spouse who prefers to pay more just to avoid shopping at this specific SR location. It's always too crowded for my liking - even with a pandemic. My husband likes the prices so he goes. A few times, he has brought home pre-made breaded chicken cutlets. This time he wasn't able to get the parmesan breading so he bought the plain. Much to my surprise, the second cutlet wasn't whole. It was cut pieces from other cutlets. Bizarre - and straight to the trash. Had this item been transparent (on top) and marked down in price, ok - but he was duped. read more

This review is pretty much for the pharmacy. I went there today for shot number one of the Moderna COVID vaccine. The one pharmacist (with the long blond hair and attitude) told me that the vaccines are now being done in the bank. However, Blondie didn't seem to understand that there's no bank there A very friendly manager came to show me exactly where I needed to go; he was very helpful. The ladies giving the vaccine were really pleasant and made sure that our chairs were six feet apart while we were waiting. The wait time itself wasn't very long. Do not purchase any gift cards from this location. Every card that I purchase from them is declined. They are clearly not properly activating the cards. This has created numerous problems, as well as serious embarrassment, for me. I have never had any problems with gift cards purchased elsewhere. I think this is really shameful and I will not shop here anymore for anything. They lost a regular customer. read more

Attached are photos taken while picking up an Incredibles sheet cake for a 5 year old's birthday party! One side was yellow cake, the other side was chocolate. I like the fact this location is 24/7. A lot of self checkout registers along with regular registers. They generally are always stocked up on products my 5 years of going there. The place is in pretty good condition but could use a little of a face lift like some of the remodeled Shoprites but overall I have no complaints. read more

One of the main reason I shop here is because they had the smaller 'granny carts' I am disabled and very rarely do large shopping trips because I physically can't. I find it so much easier to use the granny carts and usually only need the top basket, possibly putting a large item like toilet paper on bottom. But for the last few months, the granny carts have been hard to find. An alternate (although not as good) accommodation for my disability is to put a hand basket inside the large push cart as it is hard for me to reach small items in the cart. With the hand basket, i can just lift the basket to reach the items. The problem is the majority of time, there are no hand baskets available near the entrance and I have to search for one. Also, the large carts block the self check out area. It is not big enough for everyone to be using the large carts. read more

This is my regular grocery store. It's easily accessible from the parkway and they have everything I need. It gets packed around rush hour (5pm/6pm) and especially during the days before an anticipated snow storm. They have a big parking lot, but watch out for the One Way and Do Not Enter directional signs. Sometimes if I need to buy cake last minute to celebrate a weekday birthday, I stop by their bakery and they have a strawberry shortcake that I always buy and never disappoints. They have a deli and seafood section as well. We buy lobsters when they are on sale. The lowest we've bought was $5.99 per pound. They also steam it for you when requested. They normally have good sales on steaks for the week (circulars run Sun thru Sat). The big thing that they have are the online ordering with option to pick up ($12 charge, every 4th online order free) or delivery($20 charge). I have used this several times. It's way convenient but they often substitute items; they call you before they do. They're located all the way to the right if you're facing ShopRite and they have a few spots reserved for pick up. The employees are super super nice. They use a paper bag/plastic combo for heavy items. You can apply all of your coupons when you pay there. They don't take tips if they help you bring the bags out to your car. The other thing they have are self-checkout registers. I go in for one or a few items and I am out within 5 minutes. Soooo convenient and easy to use. Since it's fast approaching Thanksgiving, you can earn a free turkey when you spend $400 during a certain time period prior to the holiday using your ShopRite Price Plus card of course. Enter your phone number associated with the card if you don't physically have the card. They added an organic section ever since Whole Foods opened up, but I rarely visit that area. All great reasons above are why I am such a loyal customer. I'm sure they'll be around for a long long time. read more

This review is specifically for the deli counter in the Shoprite location. I had stopped by this store on my way home, because it's convenient proximity to the Garden State Parkway. It was a little before 5pm on a weeknight and I was only getting two deli items. There wasn't more than three other customers at the counter and three servers behind the counter. I pulled ticket number 95, looked up at the "Now Serving" counter. It said 89 and I thought to myself "89 is probably being served. 4 customers in front of me. How bad can it be?" Turns out AWFUL was how bad it could be. I waited more than 35 mins before I was served and that's despite two other servers coming on duty! Wondering what could have taken so long? Well, since I had a lot of time to observe the operation, it became very apparent why they were so very slow. Unlike other Shoprite stores I frequent (Woodbridge and South Plainfield), the servers in the Clark store write down your entire deli order, then fill it. You'd think this would be more efficient than filling a order, one item at a time, as in other stores. But once they write down the order, the servers invite the customer to do their other shopping, promising to have the order available on the counter when the customer returns. The customer leaves to shop and the server then takes 10 or more minutes to fill an order for no more than four items! By turning in-person orders into kiosk orders, the servers at this deli counter have lost all sense of urgency and seem unconcerned by the growing number of customers waiting to be served. I observed one server take 5 minutes to fill a single order of a pound of salami. Slowly cutting and placing one slice after another on the scale, I suppose to make sure he didn't exceed the ordered weight. But it was excruciating to watch. Another server switched from attending customers at the counter to filling kiosk orders. Casually walking filled orders to the pick up refrigerator, while customers before her waited and waited. Let me say the deli counter in this Shoprite is one of the more visually appealing of the stores I visit. Its a bit more compact than the others, but that makes for a more bountiful appearance. Everything well displayed. But that's unfortunately the only good thing I could say about it. I observed other customers pull tickets, look at the "Now Serving" counter, sigh, then crumple their tickets and walk away. I'm guessing these folk knew the situation when they pulled their tickets. I shared these thoughts in an email to Shoprite weeks ago, but haven't gotten any reply, so, I don't think they've taken any action in response to my complaint. So, if you're planning to use this deli counter be forewarned and maybe bring a folding chair, because you might be waiting for a while. read more

Clean and workers are really friendly. Even though this is the busiest ShopRite it never really feels like it except on the weekends but even then the worst part is the line. The florists are really sweet and helpful. I love that I can grab Dunkin' before I shop. read more

One of my favorite shoprites. It is newer than the one in my area so I like it. It has the self check out registers too which are always my go to. Also literally right off the parkway so great for picking up something on the way home from my commute. Parking is not terrible. I can always find a spot in the first or second row by the entrance of the self check out machines. Yet I always go at night when it's not super packed of families and elderly. Good selection of natural organic meats and fruits. Bakery has some good looking pastries. Tried the Napoleon dessert and it was delicious and fresh at a good cost. Only thing is their hot food area is alright. They don't have that much to offer. Also the back area by the milk and orange juice gets a little tight since there are so many products in the middle of the floor. Have not had an issue here yet yay read more

One of the better Shop-Rites in the area. They just renovated their store so they have a huge section (and selection) of produce, deli meats, and cheese. My boyfriend lives in Clark so I usually come here to pick up random things rather than a full-on shopping experience, but this location has always had anything I needed. It's also 24 hours, which is sweeeeeet. Wine Anthology is also on the other side of the road, so if you're entertaining or a closet alcoholic you can whip on over after you get your groceries for the week. read more

Worst deli counter ever. The employees are miserable and will stack containers while there is a huge line waiting. They move slow, I swear intentionally, and have no customer service skills. I do not understand how management has not addressed this.
