I have no idea why this location is as popular as it is. Maybe it's simply a matter of location. They have consistently only fair quality produce. Many times fruit is dry. Many of the vegetables seem old--not in top condition. Lettuce is hit or miss. It is not easy. The walkway in front of the store is often littered with cigarette butts. Numerous smokers sit outside the entrance door creating an unhealthy atmosphere for those entering the store. One warning: watch sale prices. I have found many instances where to computers were wrong at checkout and charged regular prices. read more

This Shoprite gets an extra star over Kearny because of its cleanliness, availability of shopping carts, and general help all around the store. It does however lack in the amount of Hispanic/Brazilian products since it is further away from that community. Other than that it's got a decent organic section and for the most part I don't have issues finding my items. From time to time they'll shift items around after re-doing aisles, but you get used to it quickly. Sometimes seasonal produce like organic strawberries and blueberries go quickly so be sure to stock up if you ever see them available in the produce aisle. Prices are also comparable to Trader Joe's and other grocery stores. read more

I'm usually a fan of ShopRite and my boyfriend and his family has shopped here for a number of years, albeit a lot closer to home. We were away at American Dream and decided to shop here for groceries before heading home our direction since it was late and we weren't sure we'd make it to our local ShopRite. Bought a lot of things, was very happy they had Sponch cookies since our ShopRite doesn't have them per box and I usually have to get them from Wawa - this ended up being sooo much cheaper per $! Needless to say I bought several boxes. Boyfriend and I head to the checkout. It was late, but no checkout lines were there with workers... okay, I suppose. We usually prefer an employee to ring out our groceries for no mistakes, even if we bag. So, we go to self checkout and start ringing our stuff out. Whole time, despite there being MULTIPLE self checkout lanes and others ringing their stuff out as well, we in particular were watched over like a hawk. I'm not sure what made us stick out... I don't think it was racial profiling as I'm a "stereotypical" white girl in her late teens and my boyfriend is around the same age, except Hispanic. We keep ringing everything out, and as we finish, an older lady (I assume manager? I'm not sure) starts raising her tone at specifically me, of whom was ringing the items out as my boyfriend put them in the cart as New Jersey doesn't have bags that "YOU FORGOT ONE BOX OF COOKIES!" and it's hard to explain over a review, but she was extremely snippy and looking at us like we've taken the whole cart. Note that I wasn't done ringing the stuff out. I apologize anyways as I was kind of shaken up by her tone... but scan the rest, then the bagging area keeps saying something was there when there was nothing (we put everything in the cart)... so then an employee, manager still watching us like we're shoplifters over a box of cookies, says that we were missing a Pepsi too and that she was just going to ring us separately at another register. We do that, and the whole time the employee looks miserable, as if having to ring our groceries totally ruined her day. Whole time too there had to be security over us which was... daunting, to say the least. Neither of us are used to being watched or yelled at while scanning groceries, and self check out is usually never our first option, especially for a cart that large and without bags. & to this minute, I'm not sure what they meant by us "missing a pepsi", since the total at self checkout was 177... and surprise, surprise, the total when the employee ringed us out was also... wait for it... 177. As for the interior, everything was easy to find and it had great prices like ShopRite usually does. Both of us could totally tell it was an older ShopRite though- decor and signs look like they came out of the 80s/early 90s. Honestly the weirdest experience I've had at a ShopRite so I probably believe people on the profiling reviews. But it was just... weird to say the least, and I don't foresee us coming back. :( read more

There is a reason for all of the low reviews. This store is going down the tubes. We've been shopping here since I was a child, and now my wife and I regularly use it. Firstly, half the items advertised are not available. When we place an order, they are listed as available for purchase, yet they are not upon delivery. Imagine Shop Rite not having half and half? This isn't an exaggeration, Rarely do I find any of the advertised sale meats in-person. This has happened numerous times. Deliveries arrive late despite paying a delivery fee and a tip. Best of luck calling and getting assistance. We have called multiple times with issues with orders, and haven't received much help. One delivery was marked as delivered but it hadn't been, yet their staff had no idea how to help. Aisles are tight and space is limited, which leads to frustration. Self-checkout rarely works without staff coming to assist. We gave it multiple tries, but have since switched stores. read more

I As a father of two and a Black man who recently moved to Lyndhurst, I want to share my experience at the local ShopRite. I've been shopping there regularly for the past nine months, and every time, I've encountered nothing but kindness, professionalism, and helpfulness from the staff. I've been treated with respect -- no less, no more than any other customer -- and I deeply appreciate that. That's why I'm surprised when I hear accusations of racial profiling at this location. I'm not saying racism doesn't exist -- I've experienced it in my life, so I know exactly what it looks and feels like. But not everything we don't like is automatically racism. Sometimes, situations just don't go our way because we might actually be in the wrong -- and playing the race card in those moments can undermine real issues when they do occur. As Black parents, many of us have difficult but necessary conversations with our children about racism, bias, and how to navigate this world. But part of that conversation, at least in my home, is about knowing the difference between being treated unfairly because of race -- and simply not getting what you want. I won't teach my children to see racism where it isn't. I will teach them to stand up to it when it's real -- and to walk in truth and fairness in every other situation. I'll continue shopping at this ShopRite until I see a reason not to. So far, the people there have given me no reason to feel unwelcome. Let's do better -- all of us. Online order for delivery has become a nightmare lately due to the inexperienced in store shoppers. I have received fruit and vegetables that were damaged and inedible. Meat with so much fat and grizzle that was so unappetizing you wouldn't feed it to a dog. Substitutions that weren't in the same food category and had items I was charged for misding from my order. I shopped in the Lyndhurst store for over 20 year, but I am now handicapped and need to use home delivery. All was good up until about 2 months ago, but the new shoppers have not been properly trained or they just don't care. The on-line order fee is $4.99; Delivery fee is $7.95; bag fee varies, plus a tip for delivery person. It isn't like they are doing me a favor, I'm paying for the service. I had the pleasure of shopping here today and was super impressed with the results of the remodeling. The layout is great and they were well stocked. Every single aisle was thoughtfully planned and it was so easy to find what you need. I tried the food from the hot buffet and it was freshly cooked and delicious (highly recommend the bbq chicken wings and breaded mushrooms). The cakes at the bakery were beautiful and tasty. There were plenty of helpful employees to direct us and multiple cashiers kept the lines moving. All employees were super friendly and it was a real nice experience. After Covid I felt the store had changed for the worse, but after shopping today I see that there has been a vast improvement. I take back the negative comment I made recently. I'm happy to once again be a customer, since it was always my favorite supermarket. read more

The pickup service is widely inconsistent. First is the order is never ready for the selected time slot. The app says my order is ready for pickup. i select "on my way" get there and check in. waiting, waiting. 20 min. go by then i get a text about substitutions. so clearly the order was not ready. then sit here waiting another 15-20min. i've had to wait over 20 minutes for the last 5 pickups. defeats the whole point of scheduling a pickup time. read more

They carry the minimum of brands and sizes. Other stores have better choices and more varied sizes. I find the independently owned Shoprites have better quality products than the Inserra chains. The employees sometimes have a dismissive attitude toward the customers, as if they hate their jobs. read more

Located 10-12min from the MetsLife stadium, we decided to drop by and get groceries before heading home. It is like any other ShopRite. It has all the basics. This is my first time at this location and it felt like any other ShopRite location. There is plenty of parking. I wouldn't say it is the cleanest but it's not particular dirty either. The staff isn't really trying to help but maybe they were just busy? Just come here with no expectations. It has your basic needs. read more

I've been coming here for years and this store has just really gone downhill. Aside from the hectic parking lot, the staff seems to never be willing to help. They're almost always out of specific sale items which can be super inconvenient. My main issue is the deli department. Each time I go it's easily a half an hour wait there. They should hire more workers for the deli, people are always lining up and complaining. I feel bad for the workers because they literally always get complaints. Whoever runs this store should really look into that. Rarely do I get my cold cuts actually the way I ask for. I'm always paying for chunky thick slices of turkey and ham that are almost inedible. There is no way to give zero stars, but that is what I would give if I could. This store is horrible to shop in. From the time I entered until I left, the staff followed me around the store. They kept announcing on the intercom where in the store my son and I were and immediately staff pretending to be on the phone dressed in all black showed up and feigned fake stocking activities and cleaning. I have worked in retail for over 30 years, so it was VERY obvious and overtly racist. I am a shopper for Instacart as well as several other delivery services. I have been to this location at least 3 times and each time I have encountered some sort of racist or biased event. The last time I was there it was for what should have been a simple pick up of a completed order (should have only taken about 10 mins and ended up being over an hour due to the staff helping other online shoppers who came in after me), the staff uttered racial slurs and made fun of my hair. I just ignored it then and gave the benefit of the doubt. Thought it might have just been a one-off. This time, I am publicizing the incident and will avoid going in the location going forward. I wanted to be sure that I spoke out in case any other person of color experiences the same thing. There are many people who work for the food delivery services. We don't deserve to be treated the way this store treats us. I hope whoever sees this review can actually do something to bring about change or to at least raise awareness of the hate culture present there. I will be sure to decline any future offers presented through the food delivery servic apps from this store and hope others follow suit. read more

The sushi wasn't freshly caught ten minutes ago waving it's fin at you while the chef prepared it in front of you? An employee was disgruntled working minimum wage after getting out of school? Not every one of the 20+ lanes were open so you had to wait? The cashier chatted with their coworker for one minute while ringing up your frozen goods and they melted before your eyes? You had to get in your car for thirty seconds to drive down the lot to the relocated liquor store so they could expand their hot foods, produce, bakery & organic sections instead? Store is clean with no critters pushing their shopping cart alongside me, lanes move, food isn't expired, pricing is lower than most, deli has computerized Dexter feature including a precut section for even faster service, can't find an item you are looking for then head over to courtesy and request it to be brought in which they usually accommodate, produce & meat are fresh if not often being restocked from the high turnover, most often associates willingly help you and wish you a nice day, and I could go on and on... If you don't want to go through these "headaches" perhaps you might want to take advantage of their ShopRite delivers service. One star short because it's not Neiman Marcus. Tip: check out their new Wallington store! You might be happier here instead, but I like to shop as close as possible to home after work. read more

I'm writing this review for the prepared hot and cold food section which is really fantastic. Great salad bar, nice fresh greens cold salads including seafood and tuna, great olive bar on the opposite side. Hot foods also ready to go or dine in the ample dining area, a real plus for professional drivers in the area who want a good meal fast and fresh. Only thing is improve is even more variety and especially more salad dressing options such as balsamic vinaigrette maybe a Japanese style carrot ginger. read more

Recently moved to this area and figured I would do the From Home shopping offered as I have done dozens of times at the Nutley, Bloomfield and Belleville locations. First and last time I will shop at the Lyndhurst Shop Rite. Most items ordered were out of stock and higher price items were substituted. In addition, out 5:45 slot, we arrived to pick up the groceries and still I sit waiting at 6:07 for them to bring g the groceries out (and I am the only customer waiting). read more

I love this shop rite! Used to live near this one back in the day and they never disappoint. Unfortunately I live near the ShopRite on river road in Hackensack. I went here cause I was shopping nearby and the ride wasn't bad coming home so screw one in Hackensack! Will only go back if in hurry and just few items. This ShopRite has Carts that aren't in dire need of a wheel alignment or falling apart and they were where they were supposed to be. Out in front of store. It actually smelled good going in. Fresh stocked produce, friendly staff. I didn't have to ask at deli to try a piece of cold cut they offered! Even shoppers were happier. I will definitely always go here. Meat Department, one title - The Worse. This has happened twice during the holidays. I placed an order days ahead and came in on the scheduled day only to be told a) they can't find the order, b) they never carried the cut or c) we'll check our other stores and see if they have it. My boss came to the office with the best looking stuff Raving about what a great deal he got That he doesn't have to cook So I went in the next day and a lady Judy told me everything was made by chef Joe, her favorites and said if there's something special I wanted prepared call ahead the day before I bought 2 cod cutlets, beautiful my favorite. I bought ribs for my son he liked them and so did my husband Got some slices of ham and meatloaf for my family to heat up I don't eat it, but I had a great thing if chicken Francese Pumpkin bagels were good I normally shop in the Nutley ShopRite But I think I like this much better. I was visiting from Los Angeles and knew exactly where this ShopRite was so when I needed to pick up a few items that I forgot to purchase at Trader Joe's several days before I knew exactly where to go. I really wanted to make a 'Veggie' wrap and really needed to find 'Organic' Alfalfa sprouts. I figured a Supermarket that caters to the needs of let's say 'Northern New Jersey' folk, I thought my chances were low of locating what I needed here but it was worth a shot. This Supermarket is kind of a trip because it is basically located on a residential street which means parking is never an issue not to mention the parking lot for this location is HUGE, like Mall parking lot BIG. I walked inside and immediately asked an employee in the produce section if they carried 'Organic' Alfalfa sprouts, the employee responded 'we sure do.' The employee walked me over to the area and I immediately found what I was looking for. The employee prior to walking away asked me if I needed anything else so I asked if they had a 'Vegan' section. The employee again responded 'we sure do.' The employee walked me over to the 'Vegan' section and low & behold they had everything that Trader Joe's did. If you wanted Vegan Sausage, Tofu, Vegan cheese, Vegan patties you name it they had it. I walked around the store some more and checked out a few items. I was a little disappointed when I could not find Sriracha sauce or Rice Wine Vinegar and for that reason and that reason only they will be given a rating of 4-Stars. I did find this location to be clean, employee to be walking around sweeping, moping and looking busy. Every register and I mean every register was open and every register and I mean every register had a 'Service Clerk' bagging the groceries for the customer. The lines were moving quickly and everyone seemed on the ball. Our local Ralph's should take a lesson from these guys. If and when I am in the area again I will without question come back here. read more

Feeling generous here with rating 3 stars because it's my local Shoprite. Usually, I go out of my town to Shoprite in Belleville because they have fresher fruits and vegetables. Pros: clean bathroom, fresh sushi, fresh pastries and bakery, liquor store nearby and Home Goods, there's always someone pushing the shopping carts to the front of the store, accepts coupons and it can be redeem as double coupon. This seems pretty common in all Shoprite locally in the area. I.E. A $0.75 coupon is redeemed as $1.50 off. Cons: long cashiers line, some checkout aisle have no baggers, crowded, parking spaces shared with other nearby businesses, busy deli area with grumpy folks serving you, certain aisle is disorganized with items being misplaced with wrong price labels. read more

My biggest issue is probably with the bread. In such a heavily Italian populated area, or any area with good food like metro NY, you have to have some decent Italian bread or baguettes. Get some Balthazar in there. Really a shame. read more

I wish I can leave half a star. This Shoprite allows their customers who use their handicap vehicle to leave it anywhere in the parking lot. As a result, because I drive a pick up and it is higher than the handicap vehicle, I was trying to squeeze through, it hooked onto my truck, creating a small dent and long scratch to the front where it dragged on my truck. I even have a witness who happened to be there and saw it happen - who said it was not my fault. I am a great driver with a clean record. It is their job to make sure carts and handicap vehicles of inconsiderate customers, are where they belong and not rolling around the parking lot to damage our vehicles. read more

Made a visit to this location last week and boy was I disappointed. The deli dept was a joke. Their salads behind counter looked old. The workers were slow. I noticed that the workers attend to customers for both deli and seafood. As I was being waited on they made an announcement that dli closes from 7pm to 7:30pm for cleaning which is fine but they do not have this posted anywhere and you're out of luck if you get there one minute to seven. Checkout was awful. Why would you only have 3 registers open on a weekend ? I thought I was in Walmart. Won't be visiting therevahsin anytime soon. I actually like this location. Huge store with good fresh produce, decent deli counter (wait is a bit long at times), also not a bad fresh fish section. Staff on the whole are friendly. Overall prices are very reasonable here. Wish they had a better bread/bakery selection. Parking is horrible even if there is always availabilty it's a weird lot to navigate. If you don't like busy grocery stores you should not come here. Not the best grocery store but def not the worst either. read more
