I go to both Wegmans and ShopRite. Each has pluses and minuses. Parsippany is my SR of choice over many of the others, especially the tiny old one in Caldwell. So now that this one is open, I thought the big new ShopRite would bring forward the best parts that Parsippany features. Things I like: Much more expansive and well lit. Aisles are longer and better organized. Things I dislike: Still not nearly as well organized as Parsippany. Those new digital price tags that are hard to read. The parking lot is laid out perpendicular to the building instead of parallel, so you have to commit to a row and you can easily get stuck there as people pull in and out. Yeah, Caldwell is still crowded after the expansion, whereas Parsippany spreads out very nicely. Fun closing fact: Went to leave last night and the traffic light never changed. The car in front of me gave up after a couple of minutes and went to the other driveway. I just made a right turn and U-turned. Something went bad on Essex County's side, I'm absolutely not holding that one against the supermarket. But it sealed the deal for me. The verdict: Continue west to the Parsippany location. read more

The best of all of the grocery stores! They moved from their old school Japan-pagoda decor store on Passaic Avenue to a bigger store on Bloomfield. They still have the old school phone care to remind you. But they have so many choices and check out his easy. The one supermarket you need in this area! read more

I shopped exclusively at ShopRite of West Caldwell before they moved. Then I discovered Wegman's. I recently decided to go back to ShopRite, because it is so much closer. But my return will be short lived because the prices are so much higher. Yes, their sale prices are better, but on a regular, every day basis, ShopRite is pricier. read more

I went into this location for the first time this morning, and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. There's a lot of good different stations throughout the store. I've been to a lot of Shoprites all over the state since I was a baby basically. Very friendly and helpful staff. read more

The pizza at the ShopRite is fantastic much better than local pizzerias and practically half the price - incredible!

I really wanted to love this new Shop Rite but I kind of hate it for several reasons. First of all, it's very dark inside, like shopping in a cave. Next the lay out is ridiculous in places. The produce department is hard to navigate and the placement of certain things makes no sense - garlic is far from the onions for one thing. The freezer department is literally a maze. If you enjoy scavenger hunts, you'll love it but if you prefer to get what you need without retracing your steps and going in circles it's going to piss you off. Today I was looking for iced tea. I went down the aisle with a sign that indicated iced tea would be in that aisle - no ice tea there - it was in the next aisle with soda. Also, be sure to check your receipt, I find something priced wrong (in the store's favor) almost every time. It's not a pleasant shopping experience - it actually makes me miss their old cramped little store. So disappointing. read more

This store should and could be so great but it misses the mark. The old Shop Rite was just okay price-wise, this one passes the new, larger store costs onto the consumer quite noticeably. The price displays are abysmal. I priced out the items I wanted to buy and everything was wrong. I suspect that is a bait and switch tactic (price looks lower in the display and then rings up to the higher price) anyway. I don't shop here any longer. Gave it several chances but it doesn't work for me. read more

Prices in shoprite have sky rocketed. Just because it is a big store doesn't make it great. Filled with slow seniors and self righteous snobs. The selection is decent and staff is friendly with a bad apple in the hot foods section. Guy who does the itialian food is great and customer service and checkout people were nice. Even this girl created me with a smile and handed me a flier. Filling out digital coupons is terrible and needing an a card sux. Just put it all on the card. The upstairs and seating area downstairs are washes of space. Causes a backup and grounded place to buy fruits.parking is bad, u have to no return your own cart and shoprite monitors reviews so it should have a worse rating. read more

Less of a review on the store than it is on the shoppers. The gets a 5, the people get a 3. Some very nice and considerate, others rudely leave wagons in the way block the flow of traffic, walk to slow, get in the way and only think of themselves, rather than keeping the pace moving for everyone. read more

They cut their store Artisan Bread Department in half. It no longer carries it's Rye Bread varieties, Sourdough Bread, Olive Bread, etc. Bigger store; less variety. Bad decision. Less variety or availability in other popular areas, such as Hanover Frozen Vegetables. Uninviting, warehouse-like, and cold.
