I came at 8:00 am to get fresh donuts. When I tried them they were delicious. I love the ShopRite donuts. It also wasn't too loud or crowded, which made my experience shopping more pleasant. The ShopRite is overall nice and it's the best ShopRite I've been at. There is also chicken wings, chicken legs, bbq wings, and more food that looked good and fresh too. Used to be my favoritew shoprite. everyone used ot be super friendly and helpful. The last two times, when I went to use a coupon, and there was a mistake in the online coupon system, they refused to take the coupon. It's crazy. In the past even when I made a mistake they often gave a discount. However now when the customer is right and shop rite is wrong they DENY coupons. I am going to defect to the other shoprites and other stores in the area. In those stores when I present a coupon and the coupon is correct they actually take it! They also keep moving around all the aisles and mixing everything up so that is is near impossible to quickly get any products anymore! The quality of the fruits and vegetable also seems to be declining as well. I would think they all get from the same place and delivery but for some reason the quality is dropping here while it is going up in the Lyndhurst, Bellville and Brookfield shoprites. Can't believe this horrible customer service. They also are checking my reciepts to make sure I paid for it which is bizarre! No one shoplifts here as far as I know! Maybe some bad apple customers are coming in and causing problems, but I don't think so. read more

So I previously rated this ShopRite a one star last year. Since then I have been increasingly happy with the store. Once renovations were complete I'm experiencing a very clean and organized store. Yes, items have changed location but getting used to it. Also noticed that quality of product offerings have improved. Great baked goods. Thought it only fair to leave a revised review as my opinion has changed and have much more pleasant shopping experience. Kudos to whoever chooses the music! I'm a ShopRite Shopper, but have never been to this one and that's unfortunate because this one is pretty good. It's a large size ShopRite similar to the one in Union, but it's very neighborhood feeling and not near the highway. It's start back in the 1930's was that of a neighborhood-supermarket, a "suprette". This is far from that though, this ShopRite is a nice and wide feeling. Spacious aisles are here and I like that the produce and Deli sections are on opposite sides of the store. That may inconvenience some but at my local shopRites, they're right next to each other and it's usually the most crowded part of the store. It helps break that up a bit. Everything seems more well kept and modern here. Apparently this ShopRite as well as Belleville are family run and they seem to be doing a good job. My favorite thing about this ShopRite is the parking. This ShopRite has some of the best parking I've seen. One lot on each side of it and another across the street. Again helps break up the crowding. My only issue with this shoprite is you kind of enter in the middle of the store so it's a bit jarring for my first visit and I could see it being a bit inconvenient if you have to backtrack from one end to another. Still I think I like ShopRite of Nutley's overall layout. read more

This store was THE store to shop at, back in the 1990's. Forget about it, today. Employees are either rude, or ignore you entirely. Their bakery department has really gone down hill. Italian specialties are far and few. This store was predominately Italain, keeping in tune with the surrounded neighborhoods. I get it, areas change, new ethnic groups move in, but the neighborhoods haven't changed that much! I knew people who had moved out of the area and still returned at least once a month, just to shop at Nutly Shop Rite. Not anymore. Then he started ringing me up against my wishes, the bagger was bagging everything wrong. Twice I told them to stop. Twice, ignored and one time was talked back to. Go out of my way to get to this ShopRite. I always thought it was very well-run. No matter how long the lines at the checkout are, you are out in no time. Until now. Went during a weekday, told the male middle-aged checker that I needed bags. He said to me, "take them off the rack." I entered the payment information and when it was done, I packed my groceries. He made no move to pack a grocery although there were multiple bags and I never mind helping. He just watched me while other people were waiting in line. The gentleman in line behind me, just looked at me. The employee was surly and definitely didn't care if he kept his job or not. I was going to call the store, but they were always very watchful of the checkout counters. I guess not now so much. I don't come there to be aggravated or argue with someone that clearly could care less. Watch your employees. read more

This is our local ShopRite. We are about 15 minutes away from here, but we will travel here just because we like this place so much. If you are in the area, you should shop here! First off, this is definetly a very unique location. The parking lot is on both sides of the building, and the entrance is on the left side with another in the front. The building also... shifts... in the middle... by the milk... Aside from that, it is pretty big! They always have a great selection. If you come in on the side, they have a deli ordering station there so you can pre order your cold cuts, and they are prepared as you shop. I've never had any issue finding things here. They really have an amazing selection of everything. Staff is also friendly! It is also very clean! My wife turned me onto ShopRite, and since then I dont shop anywhere else. No one beats their selection, prices, or freshness! All in all, a very nice supermarket! read more

The things I like at Nutley shop-rite is first the parking which there is always plenty of even on Sunday's. The second is the meat department.....it's pretty big and the butchers are great and I have bought 3-4 cuts of meat which I asked them to package for me and they are always helpful and do a good job. I have also used the catering menu a couple times and the food was very good. They just replaced all of the registers and they are easier to use as the lanes seem larger. One thing they can improve is to get some new carriages. I had one the other day that had to have been there since the Nixon administration. But that's just a minor complaint and something you can work around. read more

FINALLY a great supermarket. I live in Montclair and tried several different stores in the area before eventually (after nearly two years) settling on Nutley ShopRite for my weekly trips. First and foremost, I need to give a shout out for absolutely crushing it during quarantine. From the initial panic shops that created lines that wrapped around the entire store, to limiting volume and keeping the essentials in the stock during the months following, they went above and beyond. Workers were still friendly (!!) despite risking their health and (for the most part) I was able to find what I needed to keep us fed. Overall, it's evident this is just an incredibly well managed shop rite from top to bottom. Outside of quarantine, they hit on all the important stuff: good selection/inventory, lots of parking, fresh produce/meat, and employees that don't seem overly miserable. If I had one complaint it would be that they don't carry boars head, which is true of almost all ShopRites but still annoying. read more

Sometimes the store doesn't always have everything you need, but ,I know it's happening alot now, with the pandemic. As a former Inserra Shop-Rite employee, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness, customer service and wide span of food choices at this location. What makes this store so appealing is the fact it has so many specialty departments such as fish, deli, bakery, sushi, meat and produce departments. The store was very crowded today and that is probably because of the Super Bowl, but the place is clean and organized and unfettered by the volume of shoppers which is a great benefit to consumers. The meat is prepared to order and they have pre-sliced cold cuts as well as an array of hot and prepared items which rivals WHOLE FOODS. The store is community friendly as I noticed all the employees wear burgundy gear which is the color of Nutley HS. The parking is a bit tight and could use more spaces as well as new asphalt and paving. This is a very profitable Shop-Rite with a wildly loyal clientle. The choices are evident and they fit nicely in the community. They have people bagging at every check out line and the overall experience is positive. This store caters to seniors as well as small families with children. Highly recommend! read more

Ok, I'll admit it (only here on Yelp tough) that I truly do love my local Shop Rite. It blows Stop & Shop down the street away. It has an amazing selection. Great prices. Lots of parking. It also has a ton of slow moving rude people walking around it from time to time. I haven't quite figured out the "best" time to go here yet. Every single time I go, I end up leaving frustrated at how crowded it was inside and rude the people are in there, I still go none-the-less. I love Shop RIte & its Organic/health food section. What it doesn't have are wide aisles and quick/friendly cashiers (especially the older ones). read more

I really dislike the layout here, and in comparison to the ShopRite at Brookdale, the bakery doesn't come close to matching the quality of products Brookdale has to offer. But it's a ShopRite. The prices are the same as other ShopRites and way lower than other major grocery stores in the area, especially Stop & Shop. One thing I like about this location is the street parking out front. There are about 10 spots so if you can avoid having to park in between the narrow lines in the lot, you might just save your car a dent or two. read more

Simply put, this is the best supermarket I've ever shopping at and it only gets better. I have not seen cheaper prices from any other place in the area. I tried to exchange a frozen dinner I had purchased that was $4.99. The reason was because it was already open when I opened the box. The cellophane was not connected to the plastic. Because I do not keep receipts for the supermarket, and because I did not use a price plus card within the last 30 days, she said I could not return it because you can only return for 30 days. It was over 30 days but the reason I buy frozen is to not use it right away. Now I am not someone to worry about five dollars, however, if you sell me something that's already open, my expectation is that you exchange it for an unopened version. I think that is just the way to do business. I travel farther to come to this location solely because I like the grilled chicken in the prepared food section. This makes me rethink whether the grilled chicken is good enough to make the extra trip. Needless to say, I left the open frozen dinner at customer service along with the one I took from the freezer that I was trying to exchange it for. Both just went on the table next to the counter, so neither of them are going to be eaten by anyone. I hope at least. Several items are expired or getting to the point of being expired, but they continue to sell it for barely 10% off retail. I tried getting a hot sandwich that was marked down and it tasted rotten. Only reason I gave 4 out a 5 stars is because they stopped using brown bags. The plastic bags dont hold the food in a secure way and everything gets jumbled around and squished. Even if they double plastic it's still no good. The plastic is the worse for the environment so what gives? The brown bags with the handles were terrific! Wish they would use them again! I came here a couple of times when I first moved to Nutley and didn't like it. I would drive the extra miles to Stop N shop. My wife and I gave it another shot and haven t been disappointed. They have a wider selection a vegan options which make my wife happy. They seem to now have more registers open which make the lines move a lot quicker than before. They always have great sales and coupons. It also seems a lot cleaner than it use to. Some aisles can get a little tight but we are pretty happy and appreciate the large parking area. read more

I've lived and shopped in Nutley forever. ShopRite is the "go to" supermarket for all of us here in Nutley. On the plus side, the Nutley ShopRite has a great selection of fresh and frozen foods. Most items are always in stock when advertised. Several years ago they enlarged the ShopRite and they now have a take-out salad bar, hot foods, deli, cheese and seafood section. While it is great, I have seen better setups in other ShopRite, particularly the ShopRite of Livingston near where I work. One suggestion would be to add small tables and chairs to eat in. Many supermarket offer that convenience now. It's true that the Nutley ShopRite is a madhouse. It is always mobbed and it's difficult to get a parking space even though the lots are large. The aisles are narrow and crowded and because everyone seems to know each other, it is difficult to steer through the aisles. If it's close to the holidays I would suggest doing your shopping at least one week before to avoid the mobs. Another good idea is that the Nutley ShopRite has it's own baggers which is such a wonderful convenience. I work long hours and recently had surgery so the thoughtful baggers are very much appreciated. I would suggest that all supermarkets hire baggers. Someone mentioned that the staff is not too friendly and I kind of have to agree with that. For the most part, I always smile, say thank you and I really wish that the staff would make eye contact and say, "Thank you, please come again." It's such a small thing to do and business, I believe, would be even better. I recently had an extremely bad experience with one of Nutley ShopRite's ringers. Her name was Sheena. I had just gotten out of the hospital after my stomach surgery and while I did not have alot of items in my cart, I did have a container of kitty litter. She was extremely rude to me and so I placed the heavy litter container on the conveyor belt for her to ring. She refused to moved the conveyor belt and ring the litter. When I asked her to please do that, she said, "You put it up there; you put it back in your cart." Unfortunately a manager had to be called. Thankfully, that kind of behavior does not happen too often at the Nutley ShopRite but I now make it a point to avoid that particular register under any circumstances.
