The Ham and Swiss club sandwich is the best thing I've had here! I'd recommend it. The other fare, like the blueberry pancakes and sausage is more basic diner food. This diner has brought the town together for 50 years--and may it do so for 50 more. Website 8/10 The website has slick, simple navigation without too much delay. It can best be defined by its responsiveness from the breakfast and dinner menus to the very circle surrounding "Celebrating 50 Years." It also includes a segment dedicated to the history of the diner. The menus are easy to find if you venture around the site a little bit, though they may be difficult to read. The logo is a bit transposing upon the upper parts of the site. Brand 8/10 If you ever drive down Farmingdale's main street, the sign and the entrance stand out perfectly. The small town aesthetics definitely work as the strongest point of this business with its simple, consistent color scheme. The blocky letters invite all age groups into this business. Within the interior, there were many wooden decorative signs you would typically expect to find in many family-owned diners. There were also awards showcasing the distinct importance Connie's Restaurant has in Farmingdale, continuing to operate for 50+ years. Other than that, the interior aesthetics did not evoke any distinguishable sense of identity. Environment 10/10 In the restaurant business, you sell not just the food, for you also sell regional identity, a hang-out spot, and a sense of belonging. Does Connie's Restaurant sell them? I would absolutely say so, since I witnessed many age groups coming to this establishment--and it was not even the afternoon yet. With a vibrant environment comes the noise. We were given a booth with an insulated wall separated the diner into two parts, which helped cancel out much of the noise. The clattering dishware was more prevalent than the patrons. The physical space allows for a diner famous town-wide to accommodate many people within a single span of time. There was not a lot of opportunity to view outside the windows except to view the sidewalk and Main Street. Connie's Restaurant accepts only cash payments, which I don't consider a sustainable, long-term strategy for any business circa 2025 to have. I personally did not have a problem continuing to pay in cash, however this policy will set this restaurant back in the future. Staff 10/10 The staff were attentive. When I made my order, I had that barely awake whisper and the waitress heard everything I said clearly. Waiting Period 10/10 I consider this an important factor in its own right. I can say that I had no issues with waiting, for our orders came quickly. As mentioned before, the noise was not a problem and we were able to discuss future business without any disruptions. Food 7/10 The food is where an entire restaurant revolves within circumference around. I can say that I felt underwhelmed by the food of Connie's Restaurant. I ordered the bacon-and-egg sandwich with a side of crinkle fries. I did not expect much beyond that, but they were both quite dry, while the fries started to harden. The fluffiness of the poppy-seed buns outweighed the bacon and eggs in taste, but there was enough fluff to scoop up the remaining ketchup left behind. If shrinkflation played a factor, I can say that it was not the biggest problem for me, since I was able to eat my entire course on a cheaper bill. Also, because I had orange juice to include citrus into my course, I cannot complain too much. Comes Together Well? 10/10 I had no complaints that outweighed the diner experience, for everything came together well. There are many questions that could be asked for the future of Connie's Restaurant, such as "How can it stay relevant? What are important symbols that help it stand out? How can the food become more zesty and lively?" Rating 9/10 I am limited by what I can score this diner, so I will try to round out to either 4 stars or 5 stars. I will then explain why I made such a change. Rounds Out To... 5/5 Stars When it comes down to making the ultimate decision, I cannot find it within me to give this a lower score. With rising costs and a sporadic market, expect a lot of unpredictable phenomena to occur. What can alleviate such chaos is to rebuild our communities by supporting local businesses. Connie's Restaurant is quite literally at the center of Farmingdale and can help bring it together for 50 more years. Recommend To... So many people mentioned this was a good place and I don't see it. The pancakes were quite flat, not thick and fluffy. The french toast was also quite thin. For the prices, I would've saved my money and gone to IHop instead for the senior meal or one of the combo breakfasts. Summary: Down to earth, adorable little diner with pretty decent food and quick service. I came for a casual meal with my family and was delighted by the speed of the service and the overall great time spent there. The food is pretty standard for diner food, but I do think its the best diner around bcuz I never eat something and say it was bad. I have been to plenty of diners with watery eggs and soggy bread and this place would never do that. Connie's Restaurant Owners in Farmingdale are deceptive, rude, and crooked. Stopped by for 1st breakfast there (first mistake.) Finished and went to pay overpriced meal with a credit card. Cashier said no credit cards. I replied, "Really, how was I to know? She pointed to a small sign on a wall where it could not be seen by me. I told her the sign should be on the front entry door. She said it was there. I made her come show me. There was no sign. I had no cash. AreShe did not apologize. But she said, "Who the hell are you? We've been here for 50 years. BFD! She advised of an ATM in the rear. No signs, but after $ 20.00withdrawal I was charged a $2.00 service fee. What? That was a 20% surcharge on an already expensive meal. I then payed the bill and left, but not before stating they were ripoffs and I would never come back. She replied, we don't need your business; we've been here 50 years! P.S. The owners get the ATM service fee. 50 years? Now posting on Yelp!" Yea! By ripping off patrons Saw your reply. You lie still. LIE. I was having a great day. I came to Connie's right after Mass at St. Catherine. LIE. The bill was 15.00 without tip. The bill for two eggs and meet was more higher than Sunrise Diner, Jackson Diner, and the Mug Rack. LIE. There was no sign of Cash Only on the front door. LIE. There was no indication of a 2.00 ATM service fee. LIE. The cashier was very rude and she enlisted two other servicers to gang up on me. One told me I didn't belong there and warned me from returning. FACT. Your website says yo do take credit cards. You are a fraud and you should not be ripping off customers. 50 years in business. Have been eating here on and off for nearly 50 years. Grew up in the area so it was more frequent back then. Very friendly staff in the front and kitchen. It's a favorite place for us to stop in now when we're in the area. Recently we stopped by for lunch. It's exactly what you'd want in a local restaurant with a luncheon counter: good basic breakfast and lunch menu, served in a clean place with cheerful staff who keep the mugs and glasses full. Soup and grilled cheese for me and egg salad on toast for her; we shared a side of fries. Everything was good and the prices were great. If this place were in our area we'd pay much more. read more

Came upon this spot after visiting the state park near by. Ample parking adjacent to the restaurant. When we walked in there was a bit of wait. Once seated the menu had breakfast and lunch, this place doesn't do dinner they close at 2pm every day. Went off Yelp reviews and ordered the tuna club. Sandwich and coleslaw were really good and fresh. My friends had the Buffalo wrap with sweet potato fries and the pasta fagioli soup. Both said there food was great. Based on the outstanding reviews, we stopped here for lunch. Perhaps, breakfast is the way to go here. Our sandwiches were just average. Nothing special to write home about, but nothing I'd really complain about either. We ordered the Burger Platter and the Chicken Philly. I expected the chicken in the cheese steak to be sliced as you would expect in a cheese steak. Instead, it was simply grilled pieces of chicken. It would have been better off calling this a chicken sandwich with peppers and onions, rather than a Chicken Cheese Steak. Didn't quite fit the bill of the title. The Burger Platter was slightly better. The one thing you can't complain about here are the prices. The prices are what you would expect to find in a diner, but no longer see in most dinners. This is my second day having lunch here, and the food is fantastic. You absolutely cannot beat the service either as the people that work here also live in this beautiful little town. One of the one of the wonderful ladies that works here is in her 70s and doesn't look a day over 50 I would say, she was a breath of fresh air. After listening to the young ladies behind me, with every other word, F bomb and GD, coming to find out that this waitress has never said a curse word in her life on top of having 13 children. Old school diner that has been in business for 50 years. When you walk in, the staff either knows most of their clientele, and if they don't know you, they act as like they know us. This has been a family run business since the 70's and they certainly know what they are doing. Service is quick and very efficient. Anyone walking by will refill your cup, take empty dishes away, etc. Wait staff seems very business like if you are not a regular so don't expect too much conversation unless you come here often. Today I ordered Rye toast which is my favorite choice for this sandwich. Once the plate is in front of you, it looks tasty from the start.
