You are right on the lake, a 5 min walk from town, they have a nice swimming pool overlooking the water, have ample spaces to sunbath, lounge by the pool or lake, have complimentary kayaking & nightly special activities for the guests. They have 3 grills on the water for cooking. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, 4 pillows to each, & decent water pressure. The staff from front desk to house keeping & pool/kayak attendants were all lovely. Fresh towels provided daily and additional towels provided by the pool. What more can you ask for? Parking is a little bit tight, but not the end of the world and the exterior could use a little TLC. Neither are reasons to look past this little gem on Lake George. There were many people smoking....and ash trays put out on all of the tables The biggest negative which is why I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstance is that the parking lot is a DISASTER It is narrow, not place to turn your car around, and the manuevering to get out of is timely and dangerous. Our very first visit to Lake George (some five years ago) we'd unfortunately stayed at an awful place about a half-mile away (that's no longer around... thank God!). Anything would be better by default but we really lucked out with the Lake Hotel. If you're claustrophobic - this might not be the place for you. Lake Hotel has a sliver of real estate and it's mighty narrow (the parking lot as well as the rooms have a "railroad-style apt." feel that's common in some areas closer to my home in North Jersey). Everything was clean. Everything (for the most part) seemed new and taken-care-of. Everyone we dealt with (Keith, Andrew and Elena, among others) always went that extra mile no matter what the question or request might be. A few dings and concerns (you need to be a linebacker to open/close the door to the room, the bathroom door in our room didn't actually close/lock, the towels are always too small and for the pool there were never enough, the toilet paper and tissues are barely one-ply, one of the two beds had a 'sinkhole' right in the center that made sleeping uncomfortable, the room's phone didn't work when we needed to call the office, the walls are so thin that when your neighbor wants to crank the Red Hot Chili Peppers or the Minnie Ha-Ha is sailing by and playing that demented organ - you can't help but hear them both, the Wi-Fi is weaker than a cup of Sanka) but nothing that would actually derail your vacation at all. We'd definitely come back here in a heartbeat. From the (free-to-use) kayaks and paddleboards (at a hotel just a few doors down they were charging $20-$30 to rent them) to the (pristine) grills and outdoor oven, to the well-kept pool, to offering something every night (root beer floats one evening, candle-making the next, etc.), to being able to swim in a portion of the lake or just lounge on the different levels and take in the majestic beauty that is Lake George... this place delivered. And it's just a smidge outside of the 'village' so you don't need to use your car and it's a nice little walk to/from where all the action is. read more

Absolutely Appalling Experience -- Never Again I've stayed at The Lake Motel in Lake George multiple times over the years and have never had a major issue--until my most recent visit, which was nothing short of outrageous. We found dirty underwear in the bedsheets. Let me be clear: this is beyond unacceptable for any establishment, let alone one that claims to pride itself on cleanliness and customer service. Hoping to resolve the matter quietly and professionally, I discreetly brought it to the owner's attention. Instead of offering an apology or making any effort to make things right, he accused me of blackmailing him -- a truly baffling and insulting response. But it didn't stop there. Shockingly, he then took the underwear and showed it to my daughter, who was staying in a separate room and had no idea any of this had happened, to ask if it belonged to her. Let that sink in. This wasn't just poor service -- it was an unbelievable lapse in judgment, professionalism, and basic human decency. I was humiliated, my daughter was uncomfortable, and the situation was handled with arrogance and zero accountability. I will never stay here again, and I strongly urge anyone considering The Lake Motel to think twice. Lake George has many wonderful accommodations -- this is no longer one of them. read more

My family of 5 stayed at the Lake Motel in Lake George, NY for the first time on June 12-15, and it won't be the last! First of all, you can't beat the location. Lake Motel is right on the lake, with unobstructed views of the majestic waters of Lake George. The owner, Steve, has taken full advantage of this by building a deck fully equipped with 3 grills plus a Blackstone flat top grill, ample seating areas by way of picnic tables and fire pits surrounded with comfortable Adirondack chairs. My family grilled burgers on our last night, and made s'mores over the fire pits the night before. There is also a 2-storey dock with even more intimate seating areas where one can enjoy coffee, a cold cocktail, or simply read a book or stare out into the tranquil, clean waters of Lake George. My girls enjoyed looking at the lake from this vantage point. Kayaks, paddle boards and a raft are available to guests, free of charge! We are by no means water sports athletes or experts but believe me when I say we all went on the kayaks and didn't come back until 2 hours after! The lake and mountains compelled us to stay there as long as we could, and we had never felt more connected to nature as we did then. The motel is right in the village as well, so throughout the duration of our stay, we did not find a reason to drive the car out of its parking spot. Everyday, we walked to the village, explored it, and made our choice of where to eat, which was plentiful, by the way! The heated outdoor pool was a clear winner with all my 3 kids. I feel like I have to say that the pool REALLY was heated to 83F, because so many hotels claim their pools are heated, but you realize it's a white lie once you take a dip in the pool. Lake Motel clearly believes in truth in advertising because my kids stayed in that pool for hours in sub-75F weather. I would be doing the owners and staff an injustice if I didn't mention in this review that the place was immaculately CLEAN. I am not a high maintenance person and do not need to stay in high end, expensive hotels, BUT I am a neat freak and will NOT stay in a hotel that has less than stellar reviews on cleanliness. It's actually cleanliness and location that are my top considerations on where to stay, and Lake Motel gets excellent ratings on both. Last but not the least, the owners and staff, particularly Steve and Jorgina, are the humblest, most unassuming, helpful, accommodating, friendly, hardworking people I have ever met. There is a lot of pride and dignity in their work, and their hospitality is one that I will never forget. We had the most fun, happy, relaxing time that we have decided as a family to make this an annual tradition, coming back every year in June. I was pleasantly surprised with this place . The outside looks very unassuming but the rooms were updated and clean , alittle small but we didn't spend much time in them . The staff were all very friendly. The pool was small but clean and clear , the dock was in great condition no broken boards or worn out paint . Lots of kayaks and stand up paddle boards to use (included in your stay) multiple fire pits and lots of lounge chairs and regular chairs to sit and enjoy the pool or lake . Small swim area with steps in , nice clean sandy bottom . The parking lot is the only issue in my opinion it is very narrow so if you have a bigger suv or truck like myself it'll be a tight squeeze but it was doable. I'd give 0 stars if I could. My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary and we found a THONG from previous guests between the bed and the nightstand. He asked me if it was my sock, but after continuing to look, it didn't look like a sock. I absolutely washed my hands (multiple times) after finding it, but I was mortified, disgusted, and uncomfortable with our entire stay. Well , let's start with I booked a lake view room and got the room next to the office. I was told when u book thru booking.com your not guaranteed a lake view. Well why do I pay for a lake view room on booking.con website. You do have a contract with booking.com so u should give the customer what they paid for. The mattress springs were popping through the mattress. I had the lady from the front desk look at it and she says it's. Brand new mattress. Lol. You could see them coming through the mattress so when she left I got the other guy to help Me and he even agreed that it was springs. I throught maybe he could put a thicker mattress pad on the bed well too out surprise when he lifted the sheets three huge piss stains were on the bed. Wtf. They had to get a whole new mattress. What was really unique, was the different activities the motel had at night. Such as s'mores night, ice cream sundae etc. and at no extra cost! The staff was very nice and always there to help. They also had kayaks and paddle boards that could be used at no additional charge either. I was pleasantly surprised at how many seats were available by the dock, so it was never over crowded. The best motel in the village. My boyfriend and I have been staying here for the last three summers. All of the staff is super friendly and welcoming, especially the owner and his wife. Even during Covid the motel is exceptionally clean and following all CDC protocols. The motel is located right on the lake and has a beautiful deck with fire pits, grills, and tables. Plus the huge pool deck area. They offer paddle boards and kayaks to use. Every night they have a theme from s'mores, ice cream sundaes and even candle making. OK, this place isn't a fancy Marriott, but it has charm. First of all, the owner works there every day, not sitting in an office, but out working and attending to every detail. The place is clean clean! From early morning to late at night, he and his crew are out cleaning, fixing, and painting. At night they have 3 gas fire pits. Free coffee. We came here for July 4th weekend and love it. Wish we could have room 40 which is king bed, sofa and private balcony. We ended up with room 35 which is 1 queen bed and 1 double bed, fits our family of four, though a bit tight. Have fridge and microwave, very helpful. I would recommend to bring your own toaster and hot water maker. They have a nice heated pool which the kids love! Also they have free BBQ grills, fire pit, and kayaks. The location is great , walk to town. They always have nice fresh towels. The staff is accommodating and strive for the best. Would come again. The views rock! read more

Pretty lakeside property on the edge of downtown Lake George. Friendly staff, free use of kayaks, clean beach, great place to stay. We upgraded to room #40 with two queens and a private balcony, and were glad we did. The pool area is pretty small and pretty busy, and the beach area, while nice, was really crowded while we were there. The balcony gave us a space to unwind with a few beers and chill after swimming & kayaking / before dinner. It also gave us more distance from the front walkway-- while the hotel rooms are non-smoking, sadly this just pushed the smokers into camping out in chairs in front of their hotel rooms for hours on end, often requiring you to walk through clouds of cigarette smoke to get to your room. There is no restaurant or bar on-site, so make sure to BYOB if you want to relax with a drink. A mini fridge is provided. The grocery downtown is right off the main drag and has a decent selection of beer, though the Adirondack Brewery sells 6 packs at the pub if you want brewed-in-Lake-George beer (I believe they also have growlers, but I don't buy growlers anymore because I just can't pour the darn things without spilling everywhere). It's a little bit of a stroll to the downtown area with the most restaurants and bars. We just drove up to the Adirondack Brewery for dinner one and brought back their beer one night, while the other we trekked down into the center of town for the nightlife. If you aren't a good walker or have tired children in tow, it may be a little too much of a walk. The parking lot is narrow and steep, and big trucks (or nervous drivers) may have some difficulty. To use the kayaks, you must check them out with the main office staff. If you really want to do this, jump on it when you arrive to pick out a time slot. We delayed and couldn't get kayaks for everyone in our party. I would definitely stay here again. (this is a delayed review from the summer) read more

Friendly staff, lakeside property, clean pool and walking distance to town! We stayed here Labor Day weekend, the rates were affordable and such a better deal then nearby properties. The staff is super friendly and willing to help in anyway that they can. The rooms were always cleaned, and towels put into cute designs (which really made us feel like we were on vacation!) They have free kayak rentals, but make sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Also, every day they seem to have something going on... From wine tasting, to smores to donuts in the morning. There is nearby tubing run by a family company, who gives a do pint of you stay in this hotel, and they will come pick you up off the dock just out back of the hotel, ask the front desk for the name of the company! They were also great! The only thing that may turn people off is the lake access, it is steps into the lake, not a small beach area which may not be the best for some kids! However, it was not a problem for us! To sum it up, I had a great experience and could not ask for a better a stay! I would definitely come again! read more

We stayed here based on recommendation of a friend who was staying here the same time as us, it's very small and unassuming but it's a great motel, the staff is very nice and helpful, they will tell you where you can go, recommend activities, restaurants etc, the rooms are of a good size, have a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, a nice bathroom. It is a motel so do understand it's not fancy but comfortable and good enough, the walls are thin though so don't expect to be able to sleep in, once your neighbors are up and people are making noise you'll wake up unless you're a deep sleeper. There is parking but it's tight and fills up quickly at night but it's so close to the village that you can mostly walk everywhere within 10-15 min, there are activities almost every night and you can use kayaks on the lake for free, there is a small pool, we went once but it was a little cold out, overall we really enjoyed the stay here read more

My family stayed here for the 4th of July weekend 2016. We absolutely loved it. There were 10 of us and we make it a yearly thing to go for the 4th of July. This is right in the heart of the strip so you do not need to drive anywhere. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating for anything that you needed. One young man that stands out the most was Mileek. ( I think that was his name) This young man was THE MOST pleasant hardworking accommodating staff member that was there. He was only 22 years old and I have never seen such great work ethics in a young person in all of my life. I hope he is there this year when we go back. If not it will be a shame as he was a great asset to this business and ONE of the reasons we are returning. He was there to always fill our wood in the fire pits, helping us to get our kayaks in the water, running to get us whatever we needed, seen him scrubbing the gas grills, keeping the property spick and span when no one was watching. He worked till late hours and seen him there in the early morning hours to do it all again. A definite asset to this motel. I would pay him double if he was my employee just to keep him! This type of worker does not come around often. And he was always ready to have conversation. We stayed at another nearby motel the year before and liked this place much better. The kayaks and water boards are free to use. The other place charged. They have fire pits that you can make s'mores which they have in the main office ready to go. The pool was clean and well kept. Rooms were clean and rustic with an older look. Like I said this is not the Hilton nor did we want or expect that. The most difficult part is the parking. It is tight but manageable. You just need to be patient. There is no real beach but there is access to get in the water for a swim. A beach would make the icing on the cake. We had the suite with the lake front balcony and it was awesome. PS. If you are going to book for a holiday weekend, you need to do it 6 months or more in advance as they book up very quickly. The rooms are small, musty and look like a sauna. Bathroom was hidden by the front door and outdated.. I took out one of their kayaks. The back support was broken and it was missing a foot peg. The attendant was quick to make the repairs . Unfortunately the boat almost sank. I had to row to shore to empty water out of it TWICE, in order to make it back. I asked to speak to the manager. The owner came down and asked me to "show him the hole" in the boat. He was unapologetic and dismissive. I told him I own several kayaks and fear a less experienced paddler would get in real trouble if this boat sank. The owner never showed concern and his eventually apology was wrapped in denial that the boat didn't leak. He did take it out of service. Arrived to check in and never even unloaded our car. went to do a little shopping and unwind after a very long drive . we recieved a call that we needed to return home for a family emergency . went to the office and explained the situation to Ashley . i was told she'd contact the owner and would call me the next day . i never recieved a call so ended up calling them . was told there's no possible refund . given what we are dealing with , the loss of the refund dealt a bad blow to our situation .I can't believe the owners would not even go 50 -50 but what's to be expected when all they care about is making a $. Sad and pathetic .we didn't touch anything in the room other than i washed my hands in the sink . no towels touched . a very costly hand washing. Had they given a partial refund we might have gone back but no . Hi, I'm staying here now for the July 4th weekend and have no complaints. we booked last minute on Expedia and got a very reasonable rate for a king size bed. The location is great, you can walk anywhere in town, adequate parking (although narrow), good ice machine, the staff is friendly and helpful, coffee in the main office every morning (although Cafe Vero makes the best coffee/cappucino/espresso in LK) the room is VERY clean, big flat screen TV, good size fridge with microwave and comfortable bedding. The bathroom is updated with a blow dryer and plenty of clean towels every morning. The pool area however, is tiny and there is no restaurant or Bar service so its strictly BYOB, but the location is directly on Lake George and in the center of EVERYTHING! and the Staff is lovely. read more

I stayed here for 6 nights with my husband the end of July. It is a great location, a two minute walk to the village with stores and restaurants. The room was rustic, decent size and most important very clean. They take a lot of care of the property every day they were cleaning and watering the plants. The staff was really friendly and you can tell they take pride of the motel. The best part was kayaks and paddle board rentals were included, all you needed to do was a sign a waiver and sign it out of the office. We would take them out everyday and that was one of my favorite parts of the trip. However, we found shards of glass from beer bottles right in the water where we took out kayaks. We were lucky we didn't get cut and notified the office. Hopefully they clean it up. The double layer dock had fantastic views of the lake and nice chairs to relax. There was a small roped in area to swim as well. There is no beach, but I personally didn't mind. You can walk 5 minutes to shepard park if you want a beach. The heated pool was small but clean. I wish they had more loungers because there were some mornings other guests used towels to "save" a spot and they didn't show up until hours later, which I think is inconsiderate to other guests. This is a great place for families with fun events every evening from free ice cream and smores, to wine and beer tastings. Yes parking is a bit tight but just take your time and you will be fine. We would stay here again because of the all the extras that were included in a reasonable rate. Just remember you are vacation and have fun! read more

If you're going to be out and about all day, then this place is great. The rooms are like stepping back in time. There is no closet, iron, microwave, etc. But there is a fridge. The staff couldn't be nicer, but when we were told there was a wine and cheese mixer one night, we came back in time to enjoy it. Yeah, it amounted to shots at a wine tasting (which was pretty awful) and no cheese. There are NO beaches in Lake George.. well, if you're from Long island, or anyplace else that HAS beaches. You simply get a small plot of sand to share with whomever else might be so inclined. It's not really a beach. The pool at the motel is very nice and clean though.. so try that! It's centrally located but I think the parking is AWFUL! Just for that reason, I would try to stay somewhere else next time. But not a bad choice if you're out of them. read more
