I am starting this review with a loud shout-out to Sejai, who was incredible with helping us. We came for the dog wash, after a couple of days at the beach and we also wanted to get new leashes, harnesses and collars for the girls. They have a large self-serve dog wash area with four big tubs and everything you need to clean up dirty pups! The area was so clean and well stocked and there was always someone available if we needed help or had questions. They didn't have a huge selection of harnesses, etc. but Sejai went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us choose the perfect set up for each pup. We ended up with the Ruff Wear brand because of their softness and durability. She made the adjustments of the harnesses and collars to fit perfectly for each girl and was such a pleasure to talk with! You can tell she loves dogs and her job! This is such a great shop! They have a good selection of foods, toys, and supplies not only for dogs but kitties too! The dog wash was $15 per dog which includes everything you need to clean up pups. read more

I love this shop. Very friendly staff and accommodating for animals. Even a dog works here They carry my cats favorite toy it's called the Purrrfect go fur it cat toy. I actually discovered this toy in this shop. Please never stop selling these! My cat is obsessed. They have a good selection of cat necessities that you don't see at a lot of pet stores. They also have supplies for all other animals lizards hamsters etc. I just hang out in the cat section. I also love their selection of cat trees! read more

Shore Thing Pet Supply moved closer to Target which I think is a great location for them, I feel like it makes them a bit more visible for new customers and they it's a much larger store front which is great. Whenever we're in OB, we drop by Shore Thing Pet Supply to get Kodiak his treats and wet food. There is a whole wall of really nice treats, from duck hearts, to pig ears there are so many options. Plus there are a lot of options for food, whether it's dry wet or fresh they really have it all. The friendliness of the team is what keeps us coming back, they have little complimentary snacks at the register that Kodiak appreciates. I have been a customer consistently for at least eight months. I can easily do the online food service, but I like to support a local business. Before ordering my food, I has a desperately use the restroom. As I am a woman in menopause, sometimes things cannot wait. He refused to let me use his restroom, although I am a 10 month client. Erica, very unfriendly, said I couldn't use restroom until I made purchase. At that point I didn't even want to do business there because of her attitude. My fur baby loves to go to the Dog Beach and play in the surf. After a day at the beach, we drive to Shore Thing Pet Supply to use their dog self-wash facilities. Metal tubs with a ramp for easy access to plastic grid mat for sure footing in the tub makes the shampooing, conditioning, and rinsing a breeze. They furnish some shampoos but I bring my own. They have hair dryers that are quiet. read more

Shore Thing is open during COVID-19 with physical distancing restrictions in order. Been shopping here for many months and I love this spot. Erika and Shane are the bees knees and will love your Min Pin, Boxer mix, parakeet, clown fish or likely whatever other animal may have its on indentation on your sofa or in your bed. Obvious animal lovers. They pride themselves in providing products that are healthy and holistic. This family-owned shop carries meals, treats, toys, clothing, beds, supplements and other pets needs. About the size of two large living rooms (it's a wee shop), it's surprising how much they pack in there. And they have some quality food, including grain-free kibble, frozen foods, freeze-dried and dehydrated food. I am very pleased to see Smallbatch and Primal in stock. They also carry the Primal goat milk, which is a favorite in my family. Good place to go if your pet is raw or semi-raw. They also have an excellent selection of treats, including beef trachea, bone marrow, tendon, salmon skin and -- another family favorite -- Whimzees. And one of our pup's favorite toys was purchased here -- the Olympia octopus. Love that toy myself! Now that I realize it, we have quite the Shore Thing collection going. One pup also boasts Lupine Pet collars purchased here and this awesome orange GF Pet sweater. They also run a rewards program, have a self-wash dog wash station and offer delivery service. This is by far the best dog wash we've experienced. The wash tubs are separated by a hard wall and a retractable gate so the dogs can't see each other. The tubs are roomy and have a ramp tucked underneath for easy access. There is a generous supply of products, towels etc... and the best part is there is no time limit or clock ticking down in front of you. A great experience for $15. We drive down from La Jolla because our dog is super calm in this environment and really enjoys it. read more

everything in here is so well organized and easy to locate. i love the variety of cat treats they had !! i also was buying a tag for my cat and my partner and i couldn't agree to capitalize the name or not, but we settled (did rock, paper, scissors) on a capital letter to begin the name. when the tag was ready the owner had given us one tag with a capitalized name and the other lowercase! so thoughtful !! we will be sure to return here in the future and refer to fellow pet owners too read more

Came into the shop after hearing about it and checking out their instagram. The shop is ran by a couple who recently moved into Ocean Beach. They have two cute dogs of their own that hang out at the shop named Dante and Yuki. Guinness was long over due for a bath and we saw that it was only $15 for a self wash in a private little area in the back (no time limit). The area is well kept and maintained. They have an assortment of shampoo for your specific dog type. To reward Guinness after being so well behaved he got to choose his own no-hide chew toy. We also hung out with the owners talking about their business and the support they have been getting from the OB community. They choose every product carefully. Their prices are very reasonable. They had the cutest toys that I haven't seen anywhere else, and the quality seems great so I had to get one (we ended up getting the pumpkin with squeaky candies). They also had a variety of other supplies such as food, grooming, leashes, beds, etc. They also have a wash station in the back for a great price (I hate getting my bath at home all dirty from my dog), which would be perfect for a wash after a beach day. Called to see if they had the dog food I needed in stock. The woman said they did. Then I drove down only to find there was a parade in OB and it was a nightmare trying to find parking. I gently told them that it might have been nice if they gave me a heads up about coming to the store today given the parade and both girls just stared at me. I have been here a number of times and not once have they offered my dogs treats or pet them or even seemed excited to see them. They are not friendly or overly helpful. I emailed the owner Shane about my experience and there was no response. I try to support local but am finding the lack of customer service/appreciation is a real turn off and it makes it hard to justify when I can easily order the same bag on Chewy for $10 less per bag. The owners of Bancroft Pet Shop are incredibly knowledgable and friendly. We realized at 6:30 p.m., after most stores had closed, that we needed pet food to take with us to Mexico early the next morning. We found Bancroft, who are open until 8 p.m. Not only did they recommend an dehydrated food that my dog absolutely loves (and she is a picky eater) but they also have a pet-washing area so we were able to easily take care of that duty at the same time. I also purchased a beautiful ceramic dog water bowl to replace one that a guest had broken and did some Christmas shopping for my daughter's cat. Highly recommend this shop! read more
