My husband was assessed and accepted for the enhanced level of assistance at Maiden Park by social…read moreworker Stephanie McLaughlin, who witnessed the exact level of assistance he would need to use the Apex. Within days of being moved to Maiden Park, my husband suffered verbal abuse as well as physically rough treatment from several aides on the overnight shift who would not assist him with the Apex, telling him that they had bad backs, they didn't know how he got accepted for residence in the first place, it was ridiculous that they had to do this, that he needed to do all of the work himself and that they were not familiar with the Apex and he would have to tell them what they needed to do. When they did finally lift him, my husband repeatedly told them to put him in his wheelchair instead of the recliner in his room. They refused to do what he asked and put him in the recliner anyway, causing him further distress and making it almost impossible to lift him again. Upon discussing this with Jennifer Gilboe the next day she informed us that, after checking with administration, Maiden Park's policy for Enhanced Assisted Living is a light one-hand assist, not nearly the assistance that McLaughlin witnessed during her assessment or the implied level that I was led to believe during conversations with salesperson Kayla Gaiennie. The next day Sarah Marcello told me that my husband was beyond the care level that the facility could provide. She said that administration would not hold us to the agreement made for admission. My husband was sent to emergency and admitted to the hospital. When the social worker from the hospital contacted Maiden Park, Gilboe described the enhanced level of assistance as a LIGHT one-hand assist with an Apex and a two-hand assist WITHOUT the Apex. The social worker asked Gilboe twice to clarify the two-hand assist and she replied again, it is a two-hand assist WITHOUT the Apex. The social worker expressed concern for my husband's safety at Maiden Park, especially since some of the people who would be doing the two-hand assist, with no equipment, had made it clear that they have bad backs and that they did not have to perform at the level he needed. In the meantime, Gilboe and McLaughlin set up an assessment at the hospital. During an email exchange between Ryan and Marcello, Marcello noted that she had no knowledge of the assessment appointment and that she could not be present at the assessment. It should not have been set and that the information she had received from the hospital about my husband's condition did not come close to Maiden Park's required level of admittance. Later that afternoon, McLaughlin contacted the social worker at the hospital and said that the assessment was cancelled. The administrator sent us a reply after getting all the above information, and them some, stating that "their internal investigation" said that "all the allegations were unsubstantiated" BUT they had terminated an employee who said that my husband belonged in a nursing home and that he never should have been accepted at Maiden Park. We are curious how an employee was terminated for making the remarks listed but the internal investigation found all the allegations unsubstantiated. I was also told by a former employee, who left of their own accord, that the staff regularly comments that they don't know how new residents get accepted and complain about the level of care they need to provide them relative to their job description. Between the one-time "registration fee" and the amount of rent that we were denied back, we are out about $8,000. We are working with the local Eldercare Agency to see what else can be done to warn people about Maiden Park. We are also posting this review everywhere we can. My husband moved to another facility just two minutes down the road from Maiden Park and the difference is astounding. The staff, the care and the atmosphere is 100% better. I know that most of the reviews here are glowing, but in the few days my husband was there we saw a totally different picture.

They also search for better ways for tenant care. The presentation was led by Ms. Marie Rodriguez, the president of "Happier at Home". It was an interesting event. Marie has been involved in the medical field for many years. She witnessed and experienced the personal care her mother received in her final days. This inspired her to create and form a company that could provide care for the elderly. And by this I mean, "care at home". Home is where the heart is, and by this presentation it was evident that "Happier at Home" goes out of their way to work with their clients. To provide care and help so they can stay within their own homes if having tough times.. In the presentation she went through many of her companies services, and there are many. They do a "free" in-home assessment, approx. 45 minutes. But 1 of many things stood out to me. She made it clear that they go out of their way to keep the same caregiver, medical aide, on the same job for the family, patient. She compares the patients life style, habits to one of her aides backgrounds and training. All of her aides go through a training and certification program. Complete with a background and drug test. Aides, care givers, are taught about fall prevention, senior fraud, prevention, cooking, safety and house keeping. In the home assessment Marie will discuss the basic problem of the patient in need. The health challenge, medication compliance, memory concerns, and transportation. The patients nutritional needs, being isolated, home cleaning and maintenance, medical alert buttons, special phones for the hard of hearing. They offer meal planning and preparation, transportation service, shopping for the patient, house keeping, doing laundry. They also have aides for companionship and mental stimulation. The list goes on! Throughout the presentation Marie answered several questions by tenants one on one. She handed out flyers with information about her companies services and what they offer and how she governs and guides their business. She sponsored a "welcome wagon" with beverages and snacks for tenants and continued to answer questions by tenants. I was pleased that I attended this presentation and impressed with Marie Rodriguez. I think that "Happier at Home" is a well organized business. I wouldn't hesitate to call them!

When mom got a little more needy they pretty much ignored her and let her sleep often with wet undies. She then got the flu and had to be hospitalized. Then she was moved to Memory Care bldg. Her care went down in a fast spiral. Her clothes altho marked were disappearing or co?e back wrinkled and shrunken. Often getting other people's clothes instead. As much as I complained her clothes never seemed to reappear. The cost of living there went sky high and they stopped taking her out for outings. I was stuck because it wouldn't be good to move her at this point.Trying to make this story quick. The quality of food went way down. Her room was often not clean. I was told they cleaned once a week. I didn't. see that. She would have nothing to do but walk the halls alone at night mostly. I now had to pay for incontinence needs, which became costly as I could no longer supply it myself and was charged to have their supplier send them as they felt was needed. She started falling and I would get calls at all hours to tell me she fell. Eventually she fell and broke her hip which lead to her having to get transferred from the hospital to a nursing home as Crimson/Perigrine wasn't equipped to care for her. Sadly, she passed away 4 months later. I was so disappointed. When I first looked for a place for mom to get good care and be happy they had a very good rating. Things could have been different. They went under new management(Perigrine) and prices went up,label of care went down. I felt so helpless. I wish I could have moved her. :-( I am so sorry we spent so much time and money for such poor care. I think mom could still be alive had she recieved better care
