I have been going to this burger joint for 30+ years. I remember when they opened on Circle and Platte. Well....the quality of there meals these days is so poor!! I used to love their food, NO MORE!!! Today I stopped at 4:15pm, NOT RUSH HOUR. The fries seemed like old that they had re-fried. Just tough, not fresh. I got a bacon cheeseburger. Honestly, wasn't the best, there was just very little flavor in the burger and I got one with bacon. I asked for a grilled onions and they gave that to me for free which was awesome, but even the onions had no flavor. I think they need to season their patties or something. They hand me a small 10 oz drink, small fries and a burger that looked like i belonged on a 5 dollar special. Ok... Short Stop's main downfall in my opinion is the quality of their burger meat. It's giving cafeteria burger vibes. Their fries were hot and salty and delicious, the service was quick and reasonably priced if you ask me. The major downfall is the quality of the burger itself. If I were to be very critical, I'd say the bun was good, there was too much lettuce and the condiments were pretty sloppy on the burger. The cheese didn't have much melt. I'd be willing to give a 2nd chance but if I'm honest I think short stop has the capacity to make their own burgers from scratch. That could do a lot for them. read more

These are good burgers made with fresh ingredients, and the fries are crispy, but a bit over salted, other than that there is really nothing to complain about. I would give 3.5 stars if I could, definitely worth over 3 stars, but I wouldn't put it up there with Drifters, which is my favorite. I can see how this would be people's favorite, they are quality burgers, but for me personally, there are maybe a couple other places I would prefer to stop and get my burger from. I'm not gonna lie, for years Short Stop has been one of a kind. Since moving to their new location, I've still had great experiences ... until tonight. I arrive in the drive thru to grab a "Bag - O - Burgers" for my family as we are currently displaced from our home due to renovations & We've truly never been disappointed. That's the reason I am giving 2 stars as opposed to 0. We place our order. I arrive at the window. Fries are fresh, Burgers are stone cold. Literally to the touch. I call back and the Manager Elizabeth offers a refund. Clearly I bought a family meal to feed my family. My two children were on the car with me. I'm aware of temperatures etc. sometimes it takes the cheese a second or two to melt on a burger .. in another bag, with hot fries, usually it speeds up the process. The pictures below are of our burgers a block away. Disgusting. Elizabeth stated they could remake our order, but let me know it would be 10-15 minutes because they had to restart their broilers & it's now 9:28. I'm still waiting. They handed me a new shake about 12 minutes ago .. which is now melted. Again. Worst experience at Short Stop Ever. When I let the manager know that, she stated " okay thank you, have a good afternoon." I do hope that with the new location, new service standards don't ensue. "We had a choice and we chose you." I have driven by this place and have seen the TV commercials ("Short Stop's the Behhst!") numerous times. It has been sitting in my bookmark section for over a year and finally, FINALLY, I stopped by to grab a bite. This tiny drive-thru is incredible. The burgers are really flavorful (the patties are thin, which some may not like but I prefer) and their fries are super crispy and not at all greasy! The fires, I must admit, were my biggest worry when trying this place out. So many places get fries wrong all the time! But these little suckers are perfection -- thin, but not too thin, salty but not too salty, crispy but not too greasy and delicious whether drenched in ketchup or left dry as a bone (I ate them both ways). They have a special called the Bag-O-Burgers which is just that, a bag full of burgers for real cheap. I might consider it as an alternative to the typical pizza I serve at parties! Also, the service here is fast and friendly. You can drive-thru or walk-up to the window in the front. They even have 2 little tables you can sit at outside if you choose to stick around. I will definitely be back to this place again. If you haven't tried this place yet, do it. read more

In total, it may not have been mind blowing, but it was better than the chain burgers and I left happy and satisfied. I'll be back to try their shake. Update: Had a disappointing second visit. They just moved out to the East side of the Springs ..... I don't know what all the hoopla was about when they we're down on Circle ..... This is absolutely the worst burger establishment I have ever been too. The price and the quality of the burger should be a crime. First time was great!! This time not so great. The burgers were a weird gray color like they were streamed but if that was the case i assume they would have been warm at least. The vanilla milk shake tasted odd, like they really needed to clean their machine. I think I'll give it one more try but the inconsistency may have my second think that choice. My favorite menu item would have to be the chocolate shake it's so good and thick like a malt. We used to go all the time when they were off Platte and Circle because our tire business was very close but we still travel the little further they moved to get a burger bag for a good price to feed everyone at work for lunch! I may be biased but I love this Short Stop. They have tables so you can sit and enjoy your meal outside. Hubby said he didn't want anything to eat but gave in and ordered a bratwurst, which he hated to admit he loved - so good he even told my father-in-law he should try one! My son ordered the chili dog meal which he enjoyed and I opted to get the hamburger meal (my old faithful). Everything was nice and hot but more importantly the fries are fresh! I love the food here. Might not be here long, according to the Gazette this morning Shortstop owns the building but not the land, their lease is up soon and CVS is planning a store for this corner. I'm hoping they find a new location nearer to me, I only get burgers here when I am in the neighborhood because it is such a drive, but I also think about getting a burger here whenever I am near. So it is a special treat. It is pretty much a drive up with two lanes, but they do have a walk-up counter that doesn't get used as much. I don't like eating in my car, so I usually park and sit at one of the tables out front that don't see much use. They are always clean, but a little exposed, a windbreak and some shading would be nice. I actually was eating at one of these tables when it started raining, literally out of the blue--how can you have rain without clouds? I quickly moved to my car, but I really hate finding french fries and ketchup packets three weeks later when I vacuum my car. But, DAMN!, those burgers are tasty! read more

I Left the drive thru and drove 20 min home..once home looked in the bag and was short 3 burgers. I called and let them know that I was short 3 burgers the lady who awnsered the phone told me that they didnt, and that she was the one who packed the bag. She said they will call me back. Phone call never received. This was my first visit to Short Stop @ Circle and Platte. The half of burger I ate (my son shared with me) was actually pretty good. Too bad for poor customer service. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and barely gave it a glance. My mistake! We won a few gift certificates to The Short Stop recently and decided to check it out. Our burgers were delicious - big and sloppy with juice, etc running down my hands and plenty of condiments. The fries were also very tasty. We decided to forego "up-sizing" our meals, which was good because a regular meal was plenty. We were able to substitute shakes for our sodas, too, which is always a plus. Short Stop is one of those places I grew up with back in Austin, where they're abundant. Basically, I knew what I should be getting into when I found out (thankfully!) there was a location here in the Springs. In short (yeah, I went there) it was everything I expect from a Short Stop. 1. Quality. The burgers are hot, the meat tastes fresh, and the fries kick the butt of most major fast food chains. 2. Quantity. You get what you pay for. The patties are thinner but still a good size. I'm a double-everything eater anyway, and a double cheeseburger was more than enough to fill me up with the help of the fries. 3. Sweet tea. I mean really, from the mid-west all the way to the west coast, having a place which sells actual, not just sugar added in sweet tea gives them an automatic star in my book. 4. Speed. In every sense of the word, it's a Short Stop. The building has two drive-thru lanes, one for drivers and one (remarkably) for passengers. There seem to be more than enough employees to get the food cooked, bagged, and out to you fast. The longest part of the entire trip is waiting for the credit card machine to go through, and that isn't that long. 5. Service. The employees were all extremely polite. They used words like "sir" and "ma'am," smiled, and were generally courteous to their customers. There aren't many places around here where the employees actually make you feel as if they appreciate your business. It was refreshing. If you're in the neighborhood around Platte and North Circle for any reason (say you went to Memorial Park or something) then you'd be doing your stomach a service by checking out Short Stop. read more

The Colorado Short Stop burgers are so much smaller than the Texas version, I think my eyesight is getting worse every time we go. Luckily, it still tastes about the same!
