I have been a patient of Doug Sjogren since he was in his office on Roe. I have recommended him to at least five of his present patients. I went to him recently to have me teeth cleaned. The charge was $185. My research indicated that was dramatically higher than other dentists in the area. No other services were provided and I did not get a visit from Sjogren. I have since changed dentist and had a cleaning for $90. I have seen an attitude change at his office. I'm pretty loyal, but I'm done. I hope he is content making more money, but that won't happen if he is this greedy. Mark read more

I have been Dr. Sjogren's patient for about 30 years followed him from Overland Park to Olathe. Never dreamed one day after he put a detective implant crown in causing pain and suffering, then told me he can't help me. He sent me to see a specalist. After the specialist recommended to redo the crown, he refuses to do what the specialist recommends or refund me. Now I have to pay someone else to redo the crown out of my own pocket since he has already claimed the insurance. read more

My appointment was at 3:00pm. I arrived at 2:50pm and went back at 3:10pm. Deann was my hygienist for the appointment and must say she did an exceptional job! If you know me, I get very anxious when it's time to see the dentist. If I could just do my part (floss regularly), I would be A-OK. I didn't get anxious during this visit and can't wait to be more responsible in flossing so I will not have swollen gums when leaving. If you haven't found a dentist and considering "Show Your Grin", then look no further. I've been a patient of Dr. Sjogren's for the past 20 years (oh my - I'm old)! After one of the worst attempts at teeth cleaning I've ever had, Sjogren came in, looked at the x-rays and said you have a serious problem. The crowns and bridge he put in just 2 years earlier had to be replaced. He probably spent less than 60 seconds in the room and left with no explanation. I left 2 phone messages trying to find out more but they went unanswered. The five star staff everyone loved has left and what remains is production line dentistry at its worst. Wow! Sooooo disappointed... I have a cleaning appointment TODAY and they just called and cancelled. I had to get a sub way in advance and write sub plans for the time, etc. They can put me on a "cancellation list" for another time. Really? I think it might be illegal in some states to say you love your dental office, but I have to say it, if loving my dental office is wrong, I don't wanna be right! ;) Instead of just shoving a clip board at me as with most dental and doctor offices, the hygienist calls you back and takes your new patient history personally. I like this as it allows them to understand any issues there may be so that it can help in your treatment. Talking about it makes a lot more sense than just checking off a box. Next I had to do a round of x-rays and pictures being this are a new dentist for me. With the exception of the billing, this is the worst part of a dentist visit for me. I have a small mouth and a terrible gag reflex. The lady who took the pictures and x-rays was extremely patient, helpful with tips, and extremely friendly. She made the horrible experience the best it ever has been for me. I had to get a filling replaced and a cleaning. They were able to squeeze me in right away for the filling replacement (which may not be normal, but they really work with you and scheduling.) Everything was handled excellently. I experienced no pain or discomfort. My reason for leaving my last dentist was their deceptive billing. Dr. Sjogren's office does a great job at sitting down and going over the prices, offering options if you need them, and making sure you understand each part of the billing. This is tremendously better than just having a piece of paper that makes no sense pushed at you and being told it is an estimate and you need to sign it as most offices do. Overall, the time and attention they take at absolutely every step in the process is above and beyond any dentist I have ever been to. This is what makes Dr. Sjogren's office 5 stars, "as good as it gets!" I couldn't be more impressed with a dental office. My hygienist was Kylee and I wish I could write up a separate review just for her. She is the one who started the visit on a positive note going through the patient history with me, was able to relate some of my history to an issue I am having so that I can better understand and tackle it, she was excellent with explaining the billing. Everyone in the office was absolutely fantastic, but Kylee deserves to be singled out for making me a long term client! read more

Forgive me Doctor for I have sinned, it has been 12 months since my last cleaning...My penance for such neglect was another appointment to fill some cavities. But the people at this office made it like saying a few Hail Mary's, very easy and not painful at all! My first visit for my cleaning and check up was above my expectations. The hygienist, Kylee, was informative and made me feel comfortable. She did bring me bad news that I would need to come back and have a cavity filled and a couple other older fillings replaced. I expected some of these issues but what I didn't expect was their kindness, low pressure approach as well as a knowledge of my insurance coverage. They knew exactly what my insurance would cover and how much out of pocket I would pay. We agreed on a plan and scheduled the appointment a few days later. When I returned they greeted me by name like I have been coming here for years even though this was only my second visit. I was in and out and all fixed up in 30 minutes and in no way did I feel like Dr. Sjogren was rushing through it. He was just that good! He even was helping teach a new dental assistant. She confessed to me it was her first day, but she did great! Its nice to have a found a good dentist and so close to home, so I am singing their praises! AMEN read more

I have been going to the Show Your Grin Dental for 10+ years and have NEVER been disappointed in anything there from friendliness of entire office to knowledgeability of my needs to on time appointments to ALWAYS being available even when I break a crown because I ate what I shouldn't. And, did I mention I have a terrible tolerance for pain but they talk me thru all procedures and are extremely sensitive which helps lessen any pain I was anticipating. I had nothing but bad experiences here. The staff is very rude and always tried to make me feel bad about my teeth despite rarely having caveties. The dental hygenists told me how awful my teeth were and then the dentist told me they looked great. They convinced me I needed some expensive gum surgery. After doing some research I decided to get a second opinion. They charged me a $100 cancellation fee even though I canceled several days before. Glad I got a second opinion; my new dentist (who is waaaay nicer) told me That gum surgery was completely unnessary and could have done more harm than good. I highly encourage you to find a new dentist. After first telling us in May that our insurance was accepted, we showed up to our (my husband and I) appointments only to be told they aren't in network and we would have to pay in full. We cancelled those appointments until my new insurance kicked in, in June. We were told they would waive the $50 cancellation fee for each appointment since it was their mistake. Once our new insurance kicked in, I made appointments for our son, myself and my husband. Last week, the called the morning of my son's appt (actually 2 hours before we were supposed to be there) and tried to cancel his appt after I had already confirmed it twice. Since my husband had taken the day off of work to take him, I finally got her, Natasha the receptionist to agree to an appointment later in the day. My appointment was suppose to be today. I had confirmed via the text I received 2 weeks ago. After driving 30 min from my work, I showed up only to be told by Natasha that my appt was cancelled. She said that she could see both of confirmations but that there was a note in my file that someone canceled my appt and that they should call me to reschedule. She could not tell me who cancelled my appt. Waste of time and effort to try and get into this dentist. Plus they have a huge turnover and every dentist and hygienist we spoke to was new. Go somewhere else and save yourself the headache! read more
