I went there as I was in a hurry to get my car from servicing and I needed to grab some lunch on the way. I got the Greek salad with grilled chicken. It was fantastic. I always know that their chicken is going to taste fantastic. It is the great compliment to the salad and I love their Greek dressing. They were ready for me when I got there as I ordered it to go. I shared meal with my mother and we had the following items: shrimp and flounder (5/5; well cooked and seasoned and generous portion) andGreek side salad (5/5;fresh lettuce and good dressing). The service was phenomenal (5/5; super attentive and nice staff; showmars employees checked on us 10 times! And we were only sitting for ~30min. We were even able to order some food to-go while seated.) the ambiance is casual and that of a typical diner. This review is late & for my first visit on Tuesday, 11-1-22. There was a promo for forty cent fish sandwiches. I planned to get it to go, but I did not realize the special price was for dine in only. That turned into a dine on lunch. I also ordered a side of zucchini and squash and baklava. The biggest issue was the parking. I had to wait a few minutes before a space became available. It's not pictured but I returned in August 2023 to try the spicy fish sandwich. I was thinking it was different; it was the same fish sandwich with a little sauce that was supposed to be spicy. It wasn't too spicy to me. I also tried the baklava cheesecake. I may edit this review if I find the picture. It was ok but I probably wouldn't order it again. Customer service seemed to be better at the downtown location. read more

The food was fine. The service sucked. I tipped a considerable amount at the register then failed to get any refills and the girl behind the register messed my order up. Then buddy comes up and looks dumbfounded about figuring it out , then comes back and says she did not put it in the order you can get up and order it. I ordered a Flounder and shrimp meal and wanted a bun. It's an extra $1.99 just for a bun - wow!!! I can get a whole pack of buns for $1.99. Never been charged for a bun before, but it's ok. Not coming back to this location. read more

Was feeling for fried catfish headed to grocery to pick up filets. Got a flat tire on the way and had to have my guy pick me up. Lost my momentum for cooking. Recalled Showmars Uptown showed fried fish on the menu and ad pic looked really good so decided to go to the one near my Matthews home. They did not have catfish, but the fried flonder was close enough to satisfy the crave. Came with hush puppies, onion rings and slaw. Tarter wasn't too mayonaisey or bland either. Although I would have preferred my own deep-fried catfish, this was not a half bad alternative and cost less than $13 read more

One must be very careful when ordering here. The menu is Alacart and be careful of upselling like McDonalds, want to make that a value meal. Some sides are extra but the price is not what it says. Be careful. The food and quantity was very good. Tip, the entry kiosk gives options for tip, I left 15% and after sitting in a very tight booth the meal was delivered by a very nice older oriental lady. No silverware for me, had to get up tomget it. No sweetener on table, up again to get it. Why did I leave a tip?? Will not return. read more

Pretty disappointed in my experience here tonight. I frequent here often and was planning to eat in and order to go for the rest of my family as usual. The service is always so good and the younger Hispanic lady at the front is always so sweet. However, I asked for no bacon on my salad as I haven't eaten bacon in years. Salad comes out with bacon on it and I let the manager know who then has the kitchen take the visible bacon off the salad. I was going to let it go because I hate complaining but as a manager of a restaurant myself it just is simple to remake a salad. I let the lady at the front know and she was more understanding than the manager. He asks me "is it an allergy you have?". No, it's my preference and if I am paying for my salad and want no bacon it's not up to you to ask me if it's an allergy, just make it right when an issue is noted. Karen rant over :) read more

I enjoy coming to this location. My order is always right, which is impressive for a family that orders enough to feed 8. The onion rings with the gyro are my favorite. I like that they offer vegan options and a variety of entrees that are heathy and delicious. I usually get my order fairly quickly despite it being cooked to order. Showmars is a chain that began in Charlotte and is still local to the Carolinas. For a history of them check out their website http://showmars.com/history. I really did not really realize how much I enjoy their food until my most recent visit to the area Labor Day weekend 2018. Their food is an American twist on Greek food. It is mostly healthy and wholesome with a side of grease with the fries and onion rings. This location is on the south side of Independence BLVD, has a large parking lot. The interior is neat and clean. The employees are friendly and helpful. I really do miss this place and this chain. The food was delicious and filling. The Matthews Alive Festival was going on nearby, and several people were talking about it. A Matthews police officer came in and said that day (Saturday) was going better than the night before, which was nice. I guess I bring this up because everyone here was so friendly, and I think its nice to have a family feeling to a place and all of the customers are comfortable and friendly because the staff gives off a friendly vibe. Showmar's has redone all of their restaurants apparently and they did a pretty nice job! The inside is neat and clean, with a nice layout-very modern! The staff is very pleasant and welcoming. You order at the counter and then your food is brought out to you. They have servers bringing out refills, or anything that you may need-friendly and convenient. Stopped in today for lunch after visiting Scott Clark Toyota to get my car serviced. Always a good place for lunch, service is good, get your food quick, and reasonably priced. A Charlotte tradition. And treasure. Nothing fancy, just fast caz -- before it was fast caz, let it be known -- grill fare, with a few outriggers like fried flounder and really solid gyros. And salads. Oh, and burgers? The "fresh never frozen" tagline seems from a by-gone age, but it is real -- and you can taste it. Best description I can come up with is a dime store lunch counter burger, where everything is churned out to order. The Old Fashioned (American cheese, mustard, slaw, chili and onions) is just that. Fries and onion rings are nice, and the aforementioned flounder is among the best I've had anywhere -- and fried shrimp is very popular as well. Both can be on special at an given time. But for me the gyros and gyro salads are the draw, the latter in particular. Big bowl of veggies, tangy Greek vinaigrette, and creamy tzatziki along for the ride. Big slices of gyro meat and pita wedges slapped on top. If there is a better quick, yummy, filling lunch out there for $8 I have not had it. Oh, and asked for your iced tea half-and-half -- that way you'll get just enough sweet without a coma. Service is bright and cheerful, but kinda assumes a certain grasp of the menu that may not be obvious to newbies. Such is the price of visiting a Metrolina institution. read more

One thing I'm big on it portion and this Showmars location got a big thumbs down I ordered the grill chicken salad the cheicken was cut in 4 big chunks and the portion of lettuce I received was enough for a side salad and for $10.27 this definitely didn't cut it! Fast and quick..... Usually go here for a quick salad or some fried comfort foods. Although this last trip was disappointing since they closed 1 hr before we got there. I guess they are cutting back on hours. 3pm on Sundays... at least we know for next time. Food is not overpriced, you are ordering from the counter and a server brings it to you, so no extra tip needed. Just don't come here with a lot of expectations - it's in between fast food place and a sit-down which is something I need sometimes. read more

Showmars. What's different about the massive chain? Lets just say, there are very slight distinctions of each one. Each one puts their own twists on their menus. For this one, I really enjoy it because they offer a Philly Cheesesteak Pita. However, the only one thing is that the cheese they use for the default pita is Cheddar Cheese... Who has ever heard of a Philly Cheesesteak with Cheddar Cheese?! That was probably the most disappointing thing I have to say about this Showmars. How is possible that there are only 30 something reviews on ShowMars? The first thing I fell in love with when I came to Charlotte was this place. Greek food fast and throw in some pita burgers. Why not? The service is always exceptional, the place is clean, and the gyros are delicious. My fave though is the Cheddar Mac, chicken, mac&cheese, bacon with some pita bread. Showmars is one of the few places I feel like I could honestly say I've had the entire menu. It's a local staple, so I've been going to various locations my entire life, sampling all that they have to offer. They've pretty much got fast casual down to a science, and I've never been disappointed. A few of my personal faves are the Grilled Chicken pita, the Old Fashioned Pita Burger, and the seafood, which is better than a lot of places that specialize in seafood only. But everything is good. If you've never been, just look at the menu, and pick a dish you typically enjoy. You'll love their take on it, no doubt. read more
