I had such a hard time finding a place to shred documents for our business (We're in Sausalito), I'm so happy I stumbled upon this place. I brought file boxes of old paper files. They only charged $5 per box! The other places I looked started at $13. They were fast, friendly and had a big screen TV, where I could watch everything shredding. It was COOL!

Ask the Community - Shred Defense

Do we get to watch the shredding?

Yes you can watch the paper shredding on a large screen outside of the secured shredding area:)

Can you do old checks still in the attached form. Books of 50 I believe? Also do old bills, statements need to be taken out of the envelopes?

Yes of course, no need to remove from envelopes or disassemble check books ...we can help :)

Do you recycle cans and plastic?

Hello We do not recycle cans and plastic I would try contacting your garbage company and see if…

I was looking for a shredding service in the Bay Area, going back and forth between two companies…read moreand I finally settled on this one. I had all my questioned answered in a timely manner and they were patient as I was trying to schedule this around my dad's availability (we're on opposite sides of CA). Shred City ultimately had a better rate for what I wanted to get done so it was a no brainer. They sent me an email to confirm the service and were able to schedule us within a few days, which was even better. My dad is closing his business of 50 years and needed to shred the contents of 26 bankers boxes. The service was completed on 2/18. The driver showed up at my dad's store, shred the contents, left the empty boxes and that was it, a super smooth process! Then I was able to call, make the secure payment over the phone and I promptly received a receipt and Certificate of Destruction. It cost $208 to shred 26 bankers boxes which I thought was fair, especially since it was a mobile service where they came to us. We have more boxes to shred at my parent's house so when my dad is ready I will contact Shred City again to handle that service as well! Great job!

Am I going to give El Cerrito Recycling Center a bad review...NO! I was able to recycle used motor oil, regular AA/AAA batteries, Bluetooth Speakers, Computer monitors, Computer towers, printers, scanners, perhaps anything I am allowed to recycle at this location. I have been going to the El Cerrito Recycling Center since 1998. This place has gone through a lot of changes especially the parking spaces (yes I will continuing mention that). Thankfully nobody has DARE to trash this location and it is a good thing that they manage to keep the area in great condition. Keep the great work!

I am very happy that the local community has the El Cerrito Recycling Center present. The center is…read morewell managed and it has a method or means of disposing almost (emphasis on 'almost') anything one can think of. On top of that you may be able to find something you'd like too, like a good book to read. The last star is missing for two reasons. The center is located in a dead end location. That works in the sense of it not being a potential eyesore or traffic mess if located on a main street. But it doesn't quite work so well being there is only one way in and one way out; sometimes you can find yourself waiting a bit to do something. And the other reason is it is kinda small for all that it offers. Traffic flow can be challenging. But that's only one star split among two or more reasons. Instead focus on the other four stars that I'm dropping here
