Accompanying my wife for her follow up visit after her procedure which took place last year, our appointment time was completely ignored by his office. After waiting an hour without anyone contacting us, we asked the receptionist for information as to why there was such a delay. No information was provided. Returning to the waiting area wondering what to do, the doctor was leaving one of his patients on the way to his next one and I learned from him that he scheduled his patient office visits in groups for a given time and then asks them to wait for him to find the time to actually see them. Basically overbooking a time slot to conform to his treatment methods. This is totally disrespectful to his patients who expect his individual attention and treatment and ignores the specific circumstances of each patient's requirements. For anyone who reads this, please consider other optometrists if you can. Since this guy joined the ReFocus group a few years ago , his patient performance rating has plummeted and my wife and I are so disappointed, wishing that we had other options following her procedure performed by him a year ago.

I give receptionist my new insurance card but she says she is not familiar with the company so she will charge me a self-pay rate. Fine. While I wait for the doctor in the patient room, her boss, the Office Manager, comes to follow up. She tells me, 'You're not a new patient (true) and this is a routine exam. You pay for the eye test at self-pay rate but IF the doctor finds something wrong and you need further testing or treatment, we'll go through insurance." Again, fine. Doctor checks my eyes and his diagnosis is "nothing new, eyes look healthy". Everything runs smoothly and 10 minutes later nurse escorts me back to the receptionist to checkout. There, I am told I owe co-pay and that they will send to insurance which will then send me a bill. Wait, doesn't this contradict what the OM just told me a few minutes earlier? So, I turn to the OM looking puzzled and reiterate that it was a routine eye test and doctor found nothing wrong. OM's reaction was startling, as if a switch had been flipped. She starts accusing me of trying to commit a fraud. A FRAUD??? And because she was wearing a mask, she raised her voice high enough to make sure everyone at the clinic heard her. The OM then, angrily shuffles through my chart and says, "You have a pre-existing condition (same for the last 7 years) and that diagnosis goes under a different insurance code. Now, how would I have known that? But as for my pre-existing condition, YOU would have known so you clearly failed to acknowledge it earlier. And to suddenly go ballistic, accusing me of fraud? Do you even know what the word means? AWFUL.

The customer service was a negative 10! After 3 weeks I never got a call that my glasses were ready! They make you pay upfront and say 7-10 days for completion... lie! I had to call to arrange my pick up. Then the glasses were not dispensed properly either! Just hand off with no checking fitting on my face or optical reading of small print. Just handed glasses that had fingerprints all over lenses... I had to ask B to please clean them! I was lucky to get a case for my new glasses! With all this negative experience I decided to reach out to corporate by email. I got a response from a Laura V (cc Mary and Karen)with a request for me to show her proof of my benefit and EOB WHICH THEY HAD! I provided her with my benefit with Spectera and requested copy of my EOB. It's now almost two weeks since my response to Laura V. On Thursday, they finally got back to me, let me know they were closed on Wednesday. The next time I had a break in my schedule on Friday, texted at 9:30, suggested 12:30 to pick up new lenses, at 11:30 they texted me 12:30 was taken, how about 1:30. Tried calling no answer. I texted back at 11:45 and said OK for 1:30. They responded that they gave that time to someone else. When I finally got an answer they said to just come by and knock on door. When I did knock, the woman signaled to me that I should call-they would not come to the door. When I finally talked to the Father, (it really is "Family" ) he said he was sorry I was upset, but never apologized for poor service. His son gave me the exam, the Mom checked the son's work, and the Father fitted the frames. I was happy until they kept letting the phone go to voice mail, and started with the texting.
