My wife and I tried Shuckin Shack for the first time today. We were impressed with the food and the great service from our server Emma. The atmosphere was laid-back and fun. The oysters are a must-try,(sampler platter) whether you like them raw, steamed, or chargrilled. They were incredibly fresh and prepared perfectly. We also tried the oyster shooters and they were spicy good. The service is excellent and the staff was friendly, attentive, and always happy to help with a recommendation. It's the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy great food and drinks. They have a full bar. You can choose to set at the bar or they can seat you in a booth. If you're in the mood for some fantastic seafood and a great vibe, you can't go wrong with Shuckin' Shack. We will definitely go back again.

Day one lunch started strong with the shrimp burger. Made in-house, chopped shrimp mixed with pure wonderfulness and fried to perfection--absolutely superb. I paired it with slaw and a roasted vegetable medley (extra roasted), which was phenomenal. The next day at lunch, I ordered the Greggah--their lobster roll. Perfectly seasoned cold lobster meat piled into a top-split, buttery roll, finished with a twangy mustard sauce that adds just the right kick, and served with drawn butter. On the side were roasted vegetables (excellent again) and slaw that was crunchy, creamy, and unmistakably Lowcountry in style. I also added the made-in-house, from-scratch crab balls appetizer. Perfection on a plate. Since I was in town working, I returned the following day for lunch and splurged a bit. It was Clam Day Wednesday. I had a dozen steamed clams, a half-pound of steamed shrimp, and a half-dozen Parmesan-style char-grilled oysters on the half shell. The clams were absolutely perfect--sweet, tender, juicy, and ready to be plucked from the shell. The oysters were delicate morsels of pure deliciousness. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, ideal with cocktail sauce. I left extremely satisfied. The restaurant sits on the corner of a shopping center with plenty of parking out front. Inside, you're likely greeted right away. There are tables, booths, and a full bar stocked with all the libations you could want. Be sure to check the chalkboard for daily specials and the current oyster selections. They brew their own tea--no mix, no concentrate. The staff is friendly and attentive.

I stopped by Shuckin' Shack for lunch with my husband. This location is in West Ashley in the Plaza with Harris Teeter off of Bees Ferry Rd. There is plenty of parking. The vibe is very casual and laid back. The staff wear shorts and Tshirts. I was immediately greeted by Emma. She was super nice and made us feel welcome. She recommended the Oyster Sampler. So I ordered that and the Shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. I also ordered a "Dawn Patrol". This was an oyster shooter. It comes in a chilled shot glass with bloody mary mix, vodka, Pete's hot sauce and old bay seasoning around the rim. And there is a fresh raw oyster at the bottom. Very good. The oyster sampler did not disappoint. There were 4 raw, 6 steamed and 6 parmasan cheese and onion oysters. Crackers and cocktail sauce were at the table. Fresh minced horse radish , melted butter and a sweet Thai pepper jelly were served with the platter. The shrimp cocktail was a little disappointing because the shrimp were small and not jumbo as stated on the menu. The service was outstanding. I was thanked for my business and felt appreciated and valued. They offer many different types of seafood and some non- seafood choices. They offer daily specials and happy hour. I highly recommend that you visit. I will be back to explore more of the menu.

Such a fun spot. Visiting Charleston we stopped by Sunday afternoon for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, we saw friends gathering at the bar to watch football, others for a great lunch. Menu was fun, staff was friendly and attentive, and food was excellent

I normally don't like to leave negative reviews but I think this warrants one. I always order from this place every time I visit Charleston because the food and portion size were decent except for this time... I called the restaurant to make sure that it wasn't a mistake. The person who answered the phone had no idea how many shrimp and scallops came in the combo. This is just sad for $16. I will not be ordering from here again.

It's okay . Some pros of this new place is that if you live nearby in grand oaks, Shadowmoss, village green etc then you may appreciate having close access to a seafood place . They offer both indoor and outdoor dining options . The outdoor patio overlooks a drainage ditch but hey , something is better than nothing right . They have a full bar and lots on the menu . I ordered the shrimp . I didn't like it . #1 - They don't devein their shrimp . it's just lazy not to and basically they just give a big slap to the customer's face by saying , "eat shit! " (Shrimp shit that is ). #2 - it's definitely not local shrimp (not that they claim it is but still it's Charleston , ya gotta step it up ). #3 - I didn't care for the breading on the shrimp , just flaked off with no flavor . I'm sure I'm gonna go back due to the convenience of the location but it won't be on the top of my list .

So my husband and usually have a rule with new restaurants... rule being, we wait a while until they work out all their kinks cause let's face it, it's hard to run a tight ship especially during a two year stint of Covid. Anyhow, we've been excited for this place for awhile and decided to just give it a whirl just one week after opening. Once arrived we put our names in as there was a wait. The wait was only like 15 minutes or so. Once seated we waited about 5 or so minutes and were greeting by our server. One thing, (and this is not just here) but man I wish when people saw a baby or toddler they would understand that you will tip well and not try to be "needy" but we want to eat and get out! Lol! We told our server we were ready to order when asked for our drinks and we stated we weee already ready. She said she'd be back but she has to take her book. So we waited, then she came back and we told her our order and that we just needed a kids water and two waters for us. And to bring his out as soon as it was ready. We waited about 15 minutes and then I asked her for our waters. Mind you it was steady, but she apologized and said she forgot. Shortly after our sons food came out and then another few minutes ours came out. My husband ordered the Low Country Boil: Shrimp, Sausage, Potatoes, and Corn steamed in Old Bay and served with Cole Slaw. I ordered the appetizer of six steamed shrimp dipped in old bay, chilled, and served with scratch made cocktail sauce with a side of sausage & potato's. And we ordered our son chicken fingers with chips and salsa. I'm normally picky with chicken but their chicken tenders were pretty legit and that honey mustard dip was amazing The portion of the broil was surely filling enough but the portions looked smaller than what you'd see at those places they shove it all in a bag, lol! But it was fresh, and not soaked in butter or sauce, in fact they serve it in a soufflé cup on the side. My shrimp cocktail was perfect and fresh and the cocktail sauce was superb. The sausage and potatoes were a perfect and I thought it was great to have this as a side item. Biggest complaint! It was sooooo loud. Like not only the people but the music. My son disliked the noise level too. It was so hard to even have a conversation. I like to be comfortable in a restaurant, this made it hard. Other than that, it was great and I'm sure, in time, the little kinks will be worked out! I think we will stick to before dinner crowd next time and hope that's all it was. Oh they also are working on happy hour! I asked if it was just food, drinks or both and she said she didn't have more info and they were working on entering all of the info into the system. What I can tell you is they write their daily everyday deals on the chalk board, (sorry I forgot a pic) and they all are appeasing! And then once happy hour is available it's from 4-7 Monday-Friday!

The building looks like a medical practice so I initially rode past it but once inside it's nicely renovated. There's a main dining area, 2 bars, a VIP lounge with hookah, and a room with a pool table. I came during happy hour but the food is unbelievably cheap without the discount. Our server Sierra was great, but the bartender/hookah server needs to work on her customer service skills. She ignored us for 20 mins but found time to pour herself a drink and twerk. Now the food: The cabbage plate with fried whiting, yams and rice was yummy, seasoned well, and plentiful The chicken Alfredo with broccoli was delicious Never had fried corn but it was great! Service was painfully slow, it appears they had two servers for the lunch shift, which was not enough, or at least the one serving us could not handle the lunch rush very well. Food also took some time to get to us, server also acknowledged this by swinging back by and letting us know that we were up next with food. Lastly, we had to get up and flag our server in order to get a to-go box and bill, as she had not come back by. As far as the food, we all thought our dishes - reuben, spinach salad, rice bowl, and roasted portabella stack were okay. I had the grilled mushroom stack, and while flavorful with the grilled vegetables, it was extremely messy. It was so juicy that it soaked up the bun and it could not be picked up successfully without falling apart. They need to better execute this sandwich - drain off all the excess liquid or use a better bread for the sandwich. Overall, it was fine, but nothing that has me excited to go back. The fries were small, dry and looked like they were mostly the castoff end bits. I ordered 1/2 dozen chargrilled oysters. It was my first time tasting oysters this way and they were juicy and delicious and seasoned. I dropped 2 drops of hot sauce with 1 drop of their house sweet vinegar sauce. Yum but absolutely miniscule portions and why was the bread so plain? Could they have toasted the slices, please? Or given me a pat of some cool garlic butter or what not? For $18, I was starving. Glad we popped in to try the newest iteration-- we miss the OG Blu Sushi / we're still okay with…read morethe Blu Hibachi/ but very glad they changed to the current Blu Smoke! The pulled pork was some of the best I've had (stand alone without sauce) in a while with a true wood smoked taste that wasn't as dry as the wood chips used to smoke it with! But, that Smoked Turkey though... it just might have taken the #1 spot for me personally! The Beef Cheeks were the stars in the beefy arena - tender and juicy! The smoked 1/2 Chicken was tasty too -- maintained the moisture but might have needed just a touch longer on the rotisserie -- it's a delicate balance with chicken getting it cooked all the way through but not drying it out. Ribs were VERY delish (I don't normally like ribs, but these were smaller & literally fell off the bone when I went to take one)... Brisket was a touch dry compared to the beef cheeks, so those would be the preference over the Brisket going forward. The sauces. Don't normally like vinegar but this was a sweet slight heat! Plus red (ketchup) and yellow (mustard). Mix em up! But try the meats before you slather them in the sauce bc they really don't need it! They need to improve on the sides, though - I'm GF and my BF has Celiac. Basically, all the BBQ Meats and BBQ sauces are GF... And from what we were able to eat sidewise, we opted for the potato salad (too much mustard & a very hard boiled egg, but still decent) & cucumber salad (overly marinated & pickled, but still okay)-- the bread & butter pickles with onion served with the meats were our palate's preferred pickle; the slaw, collards & beans are also GF, but I can't do beans either & we didn't really care for the slaw at Blu Oyster prior, so we leaned to the other veggie options. Also other GF options-- baked/loaded potatoes, salads w/o croutons, stuffed jalepenos, burgers/sandwiches without the bun/bread... We weren't offered the wrap option, nor shown the BOH notes floating around and we were steered in the proper direction for Celiac by Meghan. Also, technically, still GF, just have Cross-Contamination due to a shared frier and NOT safe for Celiac are the fried nacho chips... but we weren't offered those bc we mentioned Celiac. The Daisy Duke was really stellar; loved the dark rum, Dr. p & special cherry touch! Also, the Cadillac/Mustang Margarita? (The name escapes me but at the top of the menu) with a nice slow heat from the fresh jalapeno which paired nicely with the sweetness of the pineapple. Prices are a touch high, but would definitely go back for some tasty, smoky meats in the future, maybe to go.
