We went on the recommendation of a nearby hotel. I had the grilled oysters, they were cooked a little too long and on the dry side, the crab cake was very moist including the outside but the bottom was slightly burnt (check the bottom before you try), but my husband had the seafood pasta (and he's not a big seafood fan) and loved it. We ate at Shucks for lunch today. My BFF and her sisters, there were around 6 of us and a child. Was so good. It was possibly the best shrimp & grits I've ever eaten. Bread pudding was to die for, I will be back. Crab meat au gratin was excellent also. read more

I had really high hopes! But the restaurant failed to deliver. There are much better places to get charbroiled and fried oysters in lake Charles. Staff was nice, overall very clean. The fried oysters were not good at all. The charbroiled were good but fell short in flavor department. I didn't try anything other than oysters so maybe other things are good but for an oyster house. Incredible food! The reason there's only two reviews so far is because this location has been opened about a week at the time of this review. I can tell you that this place will get a lot more pretty soon. Here's why; I'm used to oysters on the half shell that are whit I call clam sized or half Oysters. These guys know what an oyster should look like big delicious and amazing a dozen will fill you up quick. I'll coin the term using my first thoughts, "Oh-boy Oysters." Onto the baked oysters. I ordered the 10 piece sampler and they were incredibly well prepared and delicious. I'm still partial to the traditional garlic butter and Parmesan. Soaking up the butter with the French bread, perfect! I finished off with the seafood pasta. What I have experienced in the past is the sauce is overwhelming and you cannot taste the seafood. The perfectly seasoned oysters, crawfish and the shrimp were placed separately on top of the pasta; resting on the cream sauce. It's worth repeating the cream sauce was great and pulled all the flavors and textures together in an explosive satisfaction that is difficult to achieve these days. I don't think I oversold it, you decide. To Patrick, the head chef, congrats, great job! I appreciate you coming out to get my feedback. Reviews were very deceiving. Never heard of a Louisana seafood restaurant that doesn't serve fresh /pond catfish.Next time will pass through and eat season, great seafood in Baton Rouge or Nola. Gumbo was very watered down also. read more

The Lake Charles staff was friendly and fairly quick, even with the restaurant at full capacity. The charbroiled oysters were OK, but nothing special, not much seasoning other than the toppings. The stuffed crab in my wife's seafood platter was overcooked, nearly burnt on the top. The fried seafood platter overall looked and tasted like it had been cooked in old/partially burnt grease. The manager had a confrontation with several people in our group. The manager was called out for making snide comments and ugly faces about having to help a friend's elderly father down some steps to take a picture. The gentleman in question has had several strokes and recently completed a round of cancer treatments and has issues walking in general. While taking the picture, the manager cursed the person that called him out and told the entire group to leave. After the picture was taken, we were all handed our checks and told we were no longer going to be served. The manager then had a verbal disagreement with one individual and physically shoved him. All parties involved in the disagreement shared some fault, but had the manager been professional in his approach, the entire spectacle could have been avoided. The manager should have been in the kitchen monitoring the quality of the food. read more

Food was good! Drinks were cold. Unfortunately there was no wow factor! Menu selection is huge though. Not sure I'll go back but if you want a hot meal at a decent price, try it out. It's just not the fine dining experience and quiet peaceful romantic evening read more

OMG! Lake Charles has been needing a place like this for a long time! Make reservations unless you want to wait. The food and service were absolutely amazing! Sassy Shrimp appetizer is a must have. I would recommend the outdoor seating with music (thu-sat). Great management! read more
