My husband and I had an amazing dinner here! Very attentive staff and I absolutely loved the sparkling sake! Highly recommend stopping by

Fantastic meal. Not at all cheap but excellent service and very high quality super delicious Japanese food. The unagi kabayaki $30 had three very large pieces of super juicy soft fatty delicious saltwater eel and sides of carrots, green beans, and sprouts. Fantastic for eel lovers who usually have to just pick nigiri mini pieces. The Chirashizushi tokyo style $32 was a beautiful bowl of nigiri pieces over rice. Also fantastic and fresh. Finally the fried calamari was made of huge calamari pieces and came with a moderately spicy red chili sauce. All around a great meal!

A hidden gem in a professional building in Beachwood. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by their friendly staff. The atmosphere is traditional Japanese decor and the waitresses are dressed in kimonos. A very clean restaurant. Our meals were made with fresh vegetables and the sushi was amazing. A little on the pricey side but well worth it. Lunch is a little more affordable.

Had an amazing dinner at Shuhei with my husband. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer and they were delicious. I had the seafood noodles with shrimp. So fresh. So good. My meal came with a salad and I ordered the Ginger dressing. Not my favorite dressing - will try the other option next time. Service was great.

Enter Shuhei was the rear parking lot. The dining room is beautiful in red. Our server wore a kimono. The menu is extensive with Japanese dishes, sushi, sashimi, bento boxes and more. With many of the entrees you choose your protein. We were a lunch group of twelve. We were given our own receipts. Tips for the large party were added. Recommend.

Recently stopped in for dinner and did not have the best dining experience. We ordered a variety of menu items and the food was sub par and was not flavorful. To start we ordered the Rib Nikomi, we also ordered two sushi rolls, the David's Special and South Pacific. For our entree we shared the Scampi Bean. The scampi tasted like it was overcooked, however the dish came with noodles that were good. The sushi rolls were very bland and didn't really have much flavor and the spare ribs were bland aside from bbq sauce that was rubbed on the meat. The service however was excellent. Our server was very attentive, checked on us often and delivered each item hot. The restaurant itself was a nice size and there were a few diners enjoying a meal as well. Overall I would have to say I was disappointed in my meal. The flavors just were not there and for the price I was expecting a bit more. I unfortunately would not be dining here again.

This is a little place that I found after I failed to find a good sushi place last night. I'm visiting from California and I had a taste for sushi. This is a nice little restaurant. It is owned by a very pleasant gentleman. The sushi looked wonderful, and the food smells delicious. I decided to do some thing that I don't usually do which is to order, the biggest pre-selected sushi/sashimi that they have. I couldn't wait to see what the chef prepared for me because they got to choose the items. I can't say how disappointed I was at how much tuna was on here , not a favorite, and the poor selection. I'm really disappointed with the small rolls and mother really special. Honestly nothing on here is what I would've ordered with the exception of the salmon and yellow tail. Well, the selection is good in general at this restaurant, and the quality is good. I would recommend ordering what you want and not letting the chef choose for you. I'm giving four stars because the restaurant is nice, the people were very nice and the quality was very good. I would eat here again, but this time I would be very specific as to what I was ordering and would order what I want.

I stumbled across this place by accident at the tail end of a work day and I was hungry. My friends, I went hard and grabbed the Deluxe Sushi and Sashimi Combo. I'm a nigiri/sashimi person so this was perfect and quite massive. You'd hope for nothing less if it costs $47.00. It came with a salad with ginger dressing and miso - both of which were typical and tasty. The sashimi was lovely and a good thickness, as was the nigiri. Overall, no regrets. Their menu is quite large and they seem to have a large interior. When you see the sign and pull into the parking lot - you're not crazy, the restaurant is on the other side of that building so just drive around.

There is absolutely no way I would've ever known about Shuhei without yelp. It's a restaurant attached to the back of an office building, which from the outside, it's pretty nondescript. When you walk in, you immediately I know that's gonna be a good Japanese restaurant. I came with one other person and we were able to be seated immediately without reservations, when we came here around 6:30 PM on Thursday. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, but there were a reasonable amount of people already seated. We decided to order a bottle of sake, and we asked the waitress for a recommendation. She asked us whether we preferred sweeter ones or not, and she helped us choose a sake. See picture for which one. I really enjoy the sake, and definitely think a bottle is the way to go, since it was only double the price of that of a glass. For appetizers, we started with edamame, tempura, and Agedashi tofu. They were all very good: The edamame and tempura were pretty standard, nothing super special. The agedashi tofu was delicious, though I wasn't a crazy fan of all of the ginger on top. Luckily I was able to move it to the side. For the rolls, we started with the scallop nigiri. This was delicious, the scallop was thick and sweet, and it's always one of my favorites. I thought the spicy tuna was pretty underwhelming, it wasn't the classic spicy tuna where the spice is mixed in with the tuna, instead it was a chunk of tuna with spicy mayo mix into the rice. I felt like that roll overall was pretty dry. We had the fire cracker roll and the South Pacific roll from the specialty roles. I honestly absolutely loved both. The fire cracker is definitely for people who like a little bit of spicy, the jalapeños were a fun textural touch. The South Pacific was also very delicious, and a fun twist on a shrimp tempura roll. I do feel like overall, all the sushi included a bit too much rice, but that's to be expected when you're in the Midwest. Our server was attentive, and always came over to refill the water in our glasses. All the food from the kitchen came out pretty quickly, I definitely had no complaints about the service. I think it's super cute how the waitresses wear kimonos. I definitely plan on returning to this restaurant! I'd love to try more of the rolls, as well as some of their hot dishes as well, since they have a pretty extensive menu. We definitely recommend for someone looking for a great sushi restaurant or a Japanese meal at a reasonable price point and with reasonable quantities!

Overpriced sushi for the area. The ambiance is nice but I don't think the rolls are worth the price.

I should have known when, while on the phone placing our order, I asked if she would include a Takeout Menu to our bag & she said they don't offer that. There were no salads in our bag. Our teriyaki shrimp was in a sauce the consistency of water. We were told pickup in 25 minutes but it was not ready until 50 minutes after our call & there were only 4 occupied booths. We ordered shumai, shrimp teriyaki & shrimp tempura. It came to $56. However, Shinano Japanese restaurant was a very nice surprise. For an appetizer we tried the hamachi nigiri, which did not disappoint. For entrees we had shoyu ramen and chicken tempura curry. While they do not serve alcohol, you are welcome to BYOB, which I prefer since restaurants don't always offer the type of alcohol I like and it takes me forever to decide! The Cab that we brought paired nicely with our meal. If you get there before 6 pm and want alcohol, Miles Market is next door. Also the Shell gas station sells beer and wine. The restaurant is family owned and operated. Very knowledgeable and if you're like us and know your Japanese food, they have a Japanese menu! We will definitely be back to sample some of their other dishes!

The General Tso chicken was a letdown across the board. No heat, barely any sauce, and the lightly steam broccoli came out cold and wet, which made my crispy chicken a soggy lukewarm mess. Front of house compounded the experience. Slow, visibly uncertain, and in clear need of training. You can tell the staff wants to do well but hasn't been given the tools to get there. Since we were hungry, we followed another yelper's advice of getting an appetizer since we were warned the mains can take 30-40 minutes. Ordered the cracklin wings--got the ghost pepper dry rub which was recommended by the staff who also reassured me that it wasn't too spicy given that it was also sweet and came with ranch. Tasted great, super crispy on the outside, chicken not the most juicy but still tender. 4/5. Also ordered the truffle orcchiette, pork chop, and heirloom carrots. The truffle orcchiette had a great al dente texture but surprisingly compared to the other yelper reviews, was saltier than expected. 4/5 Favorites were definitely the pork chop and heirloom carrots. The pork chop came without the bone, already chopped up, and was the he most tender pork chop I've had. 5/5 The carrots were so well seasoned, with a great charred taste and came with an addicting puree. 5/5 Service was fantastic, with great recommendations. While the birthday guest was away from the table, I did sneakily ask if they do anything for birthdays, and the staff said that they do a scoop of ice cream. Since the sticky toffee pudding already came with a scoop of ice cream, they were considerate to do 2 cookies instead--the cookies weren't too sweet and reminded me of brownie batter. Sticky toffee pudding was good. 4/5 Restaurant is located in Pinecrest so parking available as free parking in a garage about a block away or as pay by mobile street parking. Ambience is great, perfect for a nice meal for a date or hangout. Overall a great place to celebrate a special occasion due to all the good food choices and staff who know how to treat birthday guests well.

I told him I would arrive within 40 mins and he said to just walk-in. The website says this is fine dining so for someone to answer the phone and discourage reservations was skeptical. When we arrived we were told since we didn't have reservations we had to sit outdoors. Now the forecast said rain in 10mins. So we told the lady at the desk that I spoke to the man that also at the door about reservations. She said no problem we waited about 10 minutes and we were seated. Our waitress Abby was amazing! I wanted a wellness drink and they were all out but she suggested other mocktail options. She then asked if we wanted tap water or sparkling bottle water. I was confused that they don't have filtered water. We got the tap and it smelled like sewer. We then asked for a bottle of sparkling water. And realized the glass cups smelled bad. If you want a wellness drink arrive early when they open around 11am. It was 1pm when I ordered my food. I ordered the Farmer's breakfast, it came with Two eggs any style, choice of crispy bacon or chicken sausage, grilled sourdough, potatoes. The potatoes were crumbs and left overs, a scoop of potatoes. For a $19 meal I couldn't believe what I was being served. The chicken sausage was amazing! The sourdough bread was grilled with no oil or butter. I asked for jelly thinking they would have compote. Instead they have mini jars of jelly. The main difference is that jam is a shelf-stable, fruit-puree preserve made with high amounts of sugar and added pectin. Compote is a chunkier, less sugary fruit sauce cooked quickly without pectin and meant to be eaten fresh. My husband had the Last Chicken Sandwich, which he said was good but the sandwich didn't come with a side just a $18 chicken sandwich that tasted wonderful.
