This is one of these reviews that I thought I did a long time ago. I truly hate I don't live in the area anymore so I don't get to go as often. Shultz has been around for awhile and the young lady who owns it is a beautiful soul...Her son does most if not all the cooking. Its been awhile since I went and got me an order of wings but when I do make it her and her son always seems to know who I am and gives me a big smile every time. When you say Jumbo wings they have some Jumbo wings that are always fried to perfection. I usually order 3 wings when it's just me and I can't eat it all that's how big the wings are. They are cooked to order so be prepared to wait a little but it is well worth it for sure. They do allow you to call in your order as well so that is another option if you are on the go. I would also say that each wing is about a dollar a piece but again when you see them and taste them you won't think that is a bad deal especially if you think about some of the competitors that give you hen wings. I like their mild sauce but I never have them add it to my chicken because it is on the sweet side and I like to be able too dictate how much I add to my chicken. They have run out of chicken a time of two and not because they didn't prepare but because they are so popular. We have gotten a couple of pans for a party and I know we aren't the only ones. You also receive bread with your order but it isn't just some white sliced bread IDK what type of bread it is but it is so good. They also serve some excellent Hogie sandwiches that is very flavorful. There shakes OMG are great made with real ice cream and it maybe its a good thing I don't live over there now because I use to get one at least once a week and instead of losing weight I would be gaining...lol I have no control when it comes to their shakes. If you are in the neighborhood you should give them a try you won't be disappointed. Enjoy! read more

I have been going to this restaurant for over ten years as they are right down the street from my old h.s. The owner and her family have become like extensions of my family. They are always very nice and personable. They seem to really remember me whenever I drop in. All of my friends from college that visited Chicago I would always take them here over Harold's Chicken. The only reason I give 4 stars is because a few times my order has not been that great and I've gotten it replaced once-the situation was not handled to my liking because only part of my order was replaced. But generally the chicken and fries are always fresh and deliciously seasoned. The highlight of this restaurant is the sauce. It's like sweet and a little spiced but not the consistency with regular Chicago mild sauce. It almost feels and looks like honey. It's delicious. I'm Pescatarian now so I won't be having anymore chicken but it's still worth the trip from Evanston to the far Southside for some fresh fries with the sauce. read more

Love, love, love the wings and their sauce. The wings are always cooked fresh, as well as the fries. I've also tried their steak sandwich, which is delicious and gives their rival a run for their money. Whenever I announce "I'm going to Shultz!" my entire family gets excited. This place has some delicious jumbo wings, which they make to order. I would call in your order to cut down some on the wait time. And this is not an establishment that you can eat inside. I have to say i am glad I don't live closer to this restaurant because I would probably be in here at least a couple times a week. I haven't gotten to try much else that is on their menu because I can't move past the wings, lol. If you are ever in the area, I say go you won't be disappointed. And the lady that owns it is very friendly and will always let you know what to do to make sure your chicken stays crispy and doesn't get soggy. read more

The food at Shultz is wonderful!! Mother is definitely friendly and likes to get things right. I haven't had a bad item off them menu yet. The wings are fresh & cooked to perfection. Pretty decent hogie... for a former a&p location

You know how you want to support black businesses... especially when the food is good... but then the service is just not there... That's my experience. This is my second time coming and the wait is entirely too long. After my first experience of waiting 30 minutes for chicken I called ahead, told them I would be there at 7:45 I showed up at 7:50 and still waited 25 minutes... I'm conflicted because the food is very good and the price is okay, I even saw the owner give some food that was returned away to a mother of 6... but 30 minutes after you told me it would be ready is just a bit much. read more
