This small farm had so many items and options. Their ice cream was so rich and delicious. They had unique flavors that we wanted to buy a lot of. We went with a pint of the pumpkin flavor. The girl was friendly and let us try the ice cream. It's a little hard to find but if you are craving some good ice cream, I recommend you stop and try it. THE BEST homemade FRESH ice cream is sold here. Their farm is on the same property as their little shop so you can see all the animals and even baby cows. First came here 3 years ago when their shop was smaller and just fridges...now it's a whole little cafe where you cannot only buy cartons and tubs of their ice cream, eggs and meat. I have been to this place several times now and it is amazing. It's on the way to the Grand Tetons and if you aren't careful you may miss their signs advertising their ice cream. The signs lead you right to their farm and the store is back behind their house. There is lots of space to eat outside and I believe they even have a petting zoo at different times of the year. When you go in the store they have lots of different kinds of dairy products, but I come for the ice cream. It's delicious! So much so that I have to stop to get some each time I pass by, even if I only had it a few days prior. My favorite part is that they change flavors often and like to get creative. I loved my coconut almond chocolate flavor. I was pleased that they were happy to scoop my ice cream into my own cup so that the cardboard wouldn't be wasted. Save the earth! What pleasant experiences we've had at Shumway Farms!! We saw banners and signs advertising fresh ice cream as we were driving down Highway 89, and off we went! :) We have gone to their farm twice now, and both times we were immediately greeted by a couple of gregarious young gals. They were just the sweetest, most pleasant employees. Both visits, there were 7-8 of us in our group and the scoopers patiently offered samples of whatever flavors of ice cream we wanted to try. The days we went there was quite the variety of flavors. There were a couple of kinds of chocolate, along with pistachio, vanilla bean, lemon chiffon, piña colada, bubblegum, mint chocolate chip, raspberry cheesecake, cookie dough, a dairy-free sorbet, etc. Fantastic! My favorite was the 'How Now Brown Cow', as seen in one of my photos. :) Shumway Farms's ice creams are of exceptional quality, made of raw organic milk from happy cows! It truly was a delicious experience. They have fridges where they sell their organic dairy products, meats, and ice creams. Since their dairy products are made with raw milk, they're loaded with healthy probiotics. Raw milk is also significantly easier to digest for people with lactose intolerance, vs pasteurized milk. In fact, two people in our group were lactose intolerant, and they gobbled up the ice cream without any future discomfort. We each ordered a kiddie sugar cone and they served us very generous scoops for an amazing price! (see third photo for pricing) Both times we left the farm with very positive experiences. Five stars isn't enough. I'd give them ten stars if I could. If you're traveling like we were, Shumway Farms is just off of either highway (89 & 241) so it provides travelers a nice tasty break, and it's super easy to get back on the road. You'll start seeing their ice cream banners and signs as you're driving south from Afton, or as you're heading north from Smoot. When you pass the "one mile" sign, start slowing down otherwise you might miss the turn! :) read more

This is the real deal! You literally get the goods straight from the dairy farm itself! First things first, their yogurt (skyr) - the texture is like a combination of yogurt and mousse! SOOO GOOD! So fresh, creamy and flavorful! We tried the lemon and the huckleberry; the huckleberry was phenomenal! The lemon was delicious, but it didn't have the strong, lasting flavor like the huckleberry. Second- We bought a pint each of the Love Potion No 9 (Cheesecake ice cream, raspberries, raspberry variegate and cheesecake pieces), Horse Tracks (Peanut Butter ice cream, fudge swirl with Reese's Peanut Butter Cup pieces), and Cookies and Cream. They all had really good flavor! My favorite was the Love Potion; it was the creamiest with great flavor! 2nd favorite would be Horse Tracks - same reason. 3rd favorite was Cookies and Cream. Only because the flavor was definitely delicious, but it was more icy and less creamy than the other 2 flavors. Not sure if it was just that pint happened to be more icy or what, but I'd still get it again! I can't wait to go back and try more flavors of both the yogurt and the ice cream! We did buy a chocolate milk, but haven't tried it yet. I can only imagine how good it's going to be though! read more

We absolutely loved the ice cream! It was delicious after a hot day. Unfortunately we then went to look at the cows and were very shocked to see how malnourished they were. None of them had any water or food. I know that they won't have food 24/7 but by how bad their bones were sticking out and how extremely skinny they were, I am guessing that they don't get fed much. They all were chewing on their bowls and fences. I'm guessing from boredom or hunger. They were in tiny enclosures with not very much space. It made our whole group very upset. It was sooooo sad. Update: I emailed the farms expressing my concern over the animals. They responded with an informative email stating why the baby cows looked like they did. Assuring me that they're healthy. Still sad at how tiny they're enclosures are. read more

Best ice cream, yogurt and raw whole milk. We are from SLC and saw their sign on the way to an event in Afton. When we mentioned it at the event, family shared that their ice cream was truly deliciou. They recommended that we stop in on our way out of town. So, we all went their for ice cream. It really is amazingly creamy and deliciou. I had chocolate raspberry. We pickEd up a gallon of raw whole milk, 1/2 gallon of raw chocolate milk and three large cartons of raw yogurt (lemon, coconut and huckleberry) too. Everything has been outstanding. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We are staying the night here in our RV using Harvest Hosts. We tried 5 flavors of ice cream, 2 flavors of Icelandic Skyr (yogurt), and smoked cheese curds - all made on site and AMAZING! We took a walk checking out all the farm animals and the beautiful field.
