A yummy little place to run inside for either a simple piece of chocolate or an extravagant feast with some friends! There are hundreds of chocolates to choose from, as well as drinks and ice cream. And across the room marks another shop where you can purchase necklaces and other Native American jewelry. Very beautiful and unique pieces. The chocolate was yummy and wasn't too expensive, more just a tasty treat to hold you over. I tried the almond turtles (weirdly enough, not much flavor) but the caramel and coconut chocolates were heavenly. Dark chocolate and milk chocolate were both great options :) Plenty of tables inside as well, so take a load off and taste test as many chocolates as you wish! TIPS & TRICKS: * Parking is available along Main Street near the "World's Largest Elkhorn Arch". Be sure to snag a photo in front of that! Neat local shop with great menu and service!! The coffees and breakfast bites were delicious!!

While my family was visiting town I thought I'd bring them to Afton for some shopping and we decided to stop in at Star Valley Chocolates for some treats. I hadn't been inside this store before, but I am a sucker for anything sweet. All five of us picked out a piece of chocolate and brought them up to the register to pay. When the salesperson finished weighing the chocolates and told me the price I legitimately thought he'd made a mistake, the chocolate was so expensive!!! At this point I didn't want to look like a fool in front of my family so I paid the ridiculous prices for five chocolates, hoping at least that the quality would be would be worth it. It was not. It was just average chocolate, nothing special about it, certainly not worth the outrageous price. If you're passing through the valley on your way through/from Jackson may I suggest going to CoCo love. Now there is some chocolate that will make your tastebuds happy and that is 100% worth the price. read more

Carefull with the ice cream! We stopped in for an ice cream cone. The owner was waiting on a person. He handled money and then the cash register. He then came over and got his ice cream scooper out of a holder with dirty water in it. I should have run out the door, but I wanted an ice cream cone!! Did he wear gloves? Of course not. He talked to us while his finger was in my ice cream. When we got outside the ice cream was real soft, like it was barely frozen. You know what happened, in about two hours we both had diarrhea. This was the only food we had had since breakfast. I think a health inspector would have a hay day in this place. read more

Our tour bus stopped here on the way through Afton on the way to Salt Lake from Jackson. The couple running this place are an absolute delight, and have a lot of personality between them. The choice here is ridiculous, with so many different options and in different chocolate types (some even have white, dark AND milk). The coffee here is also good, I had a cappuccino with cinnamon topping and it was just what I needed to keep me going through the morning. Lacking customer service. Staff tried to give us a dirty foam cup for coffee. Huckleberry fudge was very soft, and the male employee had to go in back to weigh and price it. Checkout took five minutes, with no other customers. Cashew brittle was oversweetened - sugar was all you tasted. Coconut muffin had dry-textured cake around creme filling - a day or more old? Overpriced too - small 8 oz bag of cashew brittle, 6 oz fudge, muffin and coffee about $20. Skip it. read more

Anybody passing through Afton should visit this little chocolate shop. When I stopped by about five years ago it brought light into my life with delicious, hand-made chocolate confections that opened my once-narrow eyes about what chocolate could (and should) be. Living in Idaho I didn't know much about chocolate outside of Hershey's and See's, and I was delighted to witness such quality and creativity so close to home. Now I've been better acquainted with good chocolate that carries names like Vosges, Godiva and Leonidas, but I think Star Valley could completely hold its own against these giants. Derek Cockshut, the store's proprietor, is a lovely man with a gentle, jovial demeanor and an Aussie accent. He'll give you a tour of the catalog of items he carries, all of which has been made on location. I bought a one-pound box of assorted confections for around $35, which I now consider a steal. Among my favorites were the key lime truffle and the dark Belgian chocolate, which was shaped in the mold of a cameo. The truffles are smooth and masterfully crafted. Obviously, this place made an impression on me: after five years and one visit, I still remember its name and that of the owner. Anyone passing through should visit Star Valley for a taste of its country charm as well as all of the wonderful confections it has to offer. read more

If you read my reviews I rarely take the time to give less than stellar reviews because average is not worth my time but this is a buyer beware if you love candy and chocolates and sweets, be prepared to be disappointed. We tried one of their supposed signature "Man oh man" and the Carmel was grainy and not smooth at all. It just left a grainy kind of sweetish aftertaste that took a while to get rid of. My wife didn't like it either and she makes awesome candy at Christmas time. My mint truffle was more mint crumbly than smooth truffle and the pecan glory that again had grainy Carmel was such a disappointment. When you pay 9$ for 6 chocolates, I feel like I was kinda taken. Frankly I've had a better chocolate in a box of Hershey treasures and they are factory line predictable and very average. I've never been there before so maybe they had a bad candy making day so take my review with a grain of salt, but man I love good candy and chocolate and sweets and I'm so disappointed that this place had neither. read more

The chocolates all looked good but I'm not reviewing the food. I am reviewing the staff. I was rudely told not to take photos as I was texting my wife at work to ask her what she wanted. I explained to the young man that I was texting my wife to ask her what she wanted not taking photos and was told they don't allow photos again. I didn't take a single photo!!!! I left and told them I will spend my money elsewhere!!! Won't be going back. read more

My fault for waiting so late to find some eclipse glasses.....but.....I went to a local business to get some today. The container said $3.00 each OR two for $5.00. Fine. So I say I'll take 3. That's $12.44 he says. For 3? My calculations make that $8.00 and change, but whatever...so I count out 12 one dollar bills from my work day. I count aloud while I set them on the counter. Then I go through my change purse for the 44 cents. As I'm doing that, he has picked up my money and is counting and reminding me of the change. Then...he tells me that I still owe him dollars. What!!!!???? I just counted that out to you. He says," are you accusing me of stealing?", as he hands me back $8 from the $12 I had counted out. He shoves my change at me and takes the glasses in the bag and tells me to leave. read more

Visiting from St. Louis and stopped by this quaint little chocolate place. Unique chocolate truffles and caramels from cinnamon and huckleberry to the traditional salted caramels etc. The owners are wonderful and friendly. Offered us free chocolates and enjoyable conversation. read more
