Recap of my experience: Called and set up an appointment for Derek to come out and take a look at the ant infestation in my kitchen and other rooms. He came out, took a look at the ants I killed in the kitchen and said they were coming from outside. So he proceeded to mix the chemical spray in my kitchen sink. I wasn't prepared for inside spraying, so I asked him if I should move my pet's beds, my clothes, furniture, cat trees, office stuff, food & water bowls and everything I had around the house that were touching my walls or near my walls. He said no need. Wierd. So I followed him around the house as he sprayed the walls and everything else I mentioned (which was a lot). When I saw him spraying my wall and pet beds, I went ahead of him to tried and move as much as I could. I had to wash everything he sprayed. Then he went to spray the garage. He couldn't get to the back of some parts of the walls because I have shelves with things on them, so he proceeded to spray anyway, spraying items in front of the wall. Then he went outside to spray the perimeter. He sprayed some spots outside that I noticed ants. He said if I saw any ants within 45 days, to let him know and he'd come back out for free. Paid $250 via check. He said he would text me a receipt within the hour. Two hours later, I texted him. No answer. The next day I saw ants in my bathroom. I texted him to see what he recommended or if he would come back out, and told him I needed a receipt. No answer. One week later, I texted again. No answer. All in all, the price didn't match the lazy service, the carelessness of spraying chemicals on my things, no receipt and no answering my texts. read more

I hired Shuster's Pest Control to come take care of some wasps nests on a home we recently purchased. I know when to take care of things myself and when to hire a pro and I'm not messing with wasps! He came and took care of the three small nests and came back again free of charge within a week when the wasps came back and built another nest near their original one. I also called again when I started seeing Black Widows in my backyard and some small roaches. He came and treated the whole exterior of our home. He didn't try and pressure me into signing up for monthly maintenance service like some of the bigger companies. Instead, he said we could wait and see how this first treatment went; especially with the weather getting colder, he said they would probably get gone with just one treatment. Thank you Shuster's Pest Control for giving my sanity back. Starting in April I started getting little black ants. Every morning I would wake up and there would be dozen of ants marching across my kitchen cabinets. I used Raid, bleach, chili powder (heard it deterred ants..it didn't), I used those ant "motels", you named it I tried everything I could think of! After trying everything I could I finally raised the white flag and surrendered. I called a few businesses but they wanted an arm and a leg sometimes monthly with their monthly plans. I just wanted someone to come out to get rid of the ants AND guarantee their work. Shuster's Pest Control was my answer! Derek came out THE SAME DAY that I called too! It's been a week and I'm happy to report that I'm ant free for the first time in a long time! Yay! Derek was very friendly and professional. He didn't try to cross sell me into purchasing any "monthly" services I didn't need or want. He also gave me a written 30 day guarantee however he said he would come out after the 30 days (45 days) if those pesky ants should come back. What company today would do that?! Derek is a great pest control specialist. My husband and I moved into a newer home in the country about 6 months ago. About a month ago I started hearing scratching in the attic from time to time.....like a critter of some sort. I called the home warranty people and they had a gentleman come out and looked around up there. He did nothing but tell me it was mice I was hearing. This first company told me it was probably gone and never looked around for ways it was getting into our attic. I found Derek through an ad he had placed in our local, once a week newspaper called the Country Journal. I called Derek and told him about my experience and he said he would come out in a few days. Derek showed up on time and was a very pleasant and friendly gentleman. He went up into the attic and found where the mouse was coming in from an unsealed ventilator on the roof. He said that there were wire screens on all vents except this one that had some metal flashing sticking up. He cut some wire, got his tools, and went back up in the attic where he patched that one spot. He also put three traps up there and the next morning it had a critter in it. Derek was professional, able to find where there was an opening, fix the problem and get rid of the mouse. We would highly recommend Derek for your pest control needs. What can I say... I used to have a roach problem (gross, I know!) and Shuster's came right out. I haven't seen a bug since. :):) Very reasonably priced compared to other quotes I got, and the service was impeccable. A single visit and I never had another issue. When I moved to a new home a year later, I called Shuster's to spray the house before moving in (I figured its easy to get in nooks and crannies without any furniture). I scheduled a pest control appointment through my Home Warranty. Third party vendors usually call within a few hours once a request for service is made. Sherry called five minutes after I made the request. She would have sent someone out that afternoon (Thursday, 7/30), but unfortunately I had to schedule for the next day. I called this company a few weeks ago because I saw they had great reviews here and the man that answered the phone said that he wasn't going to be working that day (because it was his birthday) except for an emergency that he was on his way to. He promised that he would call me back and he never did. So, about 2 weeks later I figured he must have forgotten or lost my number (after all, it was his birthday), so I called and left a message (and I reminded them that I had called a couple weeks before) and its been another week and still no one has called me back. Just before I started typing this, I called and got their voicemail again. I really would have liked to have them come do an awesome job and be able to write them a great review. It seems to me that calling back a potential client (one who wants to give you money and tell all her neighbors about how great you are) would be the simplest part about owning a business. Derek came out to evaluate our house over the winter. He was very nice and professional. We set up an extermination appointment for a couple days later, but he never showed up. I called and he told me he had lost my number and needed to reschedule due to an emergency. Okay, no problem. We rescheduled for the next day. He came out but was unable to clean the area (outside the house) that day because his vacuum couldn't reach and he had no extension cable. I told him that was fine, and tried to reschedule again. He was a no-show for the second time. I tried calling him about 5 different times, left voicemails, etc. The job was pretty small, and we had talked about him possibly doing our semi-annual preventative maintenance as well. Unfortunately, we have still never heard back, and I am very disappointed. Ended up doing the work myself. Honestly, we worried that something bad had happened to Derek because he just went completely MIA after such a positive initial impression. The last time I was able to get a hold of him, he did not responded apologize because of the unanswered calls. He has Not honored his 30 day warranty.
