Legit sad that to eat this place, I have to literally travel all the way to Portland. My bf, his friends and I had an amazing dinner here and I look for quality since I'm picky about my food at times. This place has all of the good things, it's quality food, great taste and the service was very good. Our server kept coming over to check on us and always made sure our cups were refilled as needed. Enough about the service though, let's talk food. Our whole party got chicken entrees, the faijitas and the butterflied, grilled chicken. Even though my chicken was overcooked and dry, everyone elses' entrees were pretty good though and the chicken had a great char flavor. Even the beans were good which is weird because I don't normally like beans. The pricing is a bit high in my opinion. For 4 people are bill came out to almost $100 for dinner for just 3 fountain drinks and 4 entrees. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience for my taste buds. Nice looking inside, Mexican tiles and wood, sets the tone. We were here for lunch. I'm GF, no problem here. I had the 2 item lunch special, taco and enchilada with beans and rice. The taco was the best I've had in a long time. It was crispy and filled with a generous amount of chicken. My husband had chili verde with rice, beans and tortillas. He said it was good. This is a decent Mexican place with huge portions. My wife went here with some friends and one of them had the mole and she said it was like her mom made. So we had to come give it a try. Overall, it was good. Seems like a bit Americanized to me, in some respects, but then Mexico is a big country with many regional differences, so who am I to say if it was authentic or not. Made a reservation. When I arrived for my reservation, I was told I would have to wait 30 min. 30 min comes and goes - then I was told Mr. hey did not know then my table would be ready. The hostess staff was no help. The manager was supposed to come talk to us - but never did. Why do they even have a reservation process at all??! We left and ate somewhere else. read more

Another awesome Yelp find. According to a frequently cited study by Ohio State University, 80% of family owned restaurants in the United States fail and close within 5 years of opening. Si Senor has been around for 20+ years so they must be doing a lot of things right. Upon walking in we were immediately seated in a very pleasant and spacious dinning area that was beautifully decorated. Major kudos to the interior designers for creating one of the best ambiences I've seen at a Mexican restaurant. We ordered various types of enchiladas along with tamales, rice and beans. Food presentation, taste and freshness was excellent. The chips and salsa were very good. Menu variety and prices were great. They have numerous vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. However, strict vegetarians and/or vegans should be aware that the bean dip they place on every table next to the chips contains lard. But the beans served onto dinner plates do not contain lard. Restaurant appeared fully staffed (weekday evening) with most employees communicating via headset radios. The overall service was excellent. Unlike most sit-down restaurants in Oregon this one has a big parking lot. During our visit they lived up to their slogan, which is "Portland's Best Mexican Dinning Experience". Let me make this clear from the beginning: our issue was almost entirely with the food itself, not the service nor ambiance. Our server, Isaias, was kind and responsive. The safety protocols observed by Si Senor @ Hall Blvd during this pandemic were excellent, from providing us silverware at the entrance to no physical menus (QR scan code on the table for online menu). But...the food. It was SO SALTY. We ordered the "Tour Traditional" combination platter which has carne asada, an enchilada, a chile relleno and a taco. It comes with guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream, rice and beans. I was starving. I ate a couple of large bites of the carne asada and enchilada. It was horribly salty. The rice not so much, but I was puzzled by why the side frijoles were also so salty. Also, our salsa was neither spicy nor flavorful. It was mostly a vinegary mess. The chips served with it were cold. Isaias, our server, was the bright spot. Si Senor is lucky to have him as a terrific server. But we don't go there to enjoy good company - we go there to eat. And the food was borderline inedible due to being so salty and insipid. It's basically pseudo-Mexican food for adult retirement centers. read more

Ordered on line Saturday afternoon for pickup at 6:00, only waited 5 minutes and the food was ready. Glad to see quite a few other people had ordered food to go as well. I have always enjoyed the food there and they didn't disappoint! Accuracy of the order was spot on. Didn't use a delivery service as the restaurant makes very little profit when delivery services are used. I really want to see this restaurant make it through this pandemic shutdown, so picking it up myself was the least I could do. Taco was just ok but I really enjoyed the chili relleno and the rice and beans . Chips and salsa were also really good and so was the bean dip. This place has gone down hill. By a lot. The food was okay-ish enough, but it good. Asked for salt for our chips and it took 20 minutes to get it. They were not understaffed there was maybe only 5 tables of people. Now, the prices. That's my biggest problem. For mediocre food an $8.5 kids meal should include a soda, not $2.75 more for one. $2.25 for a side of sour cream (since they basically bring you out the whole thing-so wasteful is ridiculous). The adult meal I had was $13 which seems average but the food was below average. Half the staff we talked to was grouchy, but I get COVID crap and stress might be part of that so whatever there. My first visit even though I live nearby. 2 of my favorites have closed so I was looking for a new go to place for Mexican food. It's a very attractive restaurant with bright Mexican decor. It was clean and the staff was prompt to seat us and take our order. I noticed a "salsa bar" right inside the front door. Strange location, not sure if it had any salsa in the containers but we weren't invited to visit it so no idea if it's available for trying a variety of salsas. Our food was good, enough to fill my stomach and take home leftovers. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. Prices were a bit steep for basic items. When I got the bill I was shocked. $75 for 3 adults and a child. We didn't have appetizers, or alcohol, or dessert. 3 combo meals, a kids plate and 2 sodas. They charged an extra $2 for a basic red sauce on my cheese enchiladas. We may go back but at those prices it won't be often. Beans and rice, tortillas and salsa shouldn't cost that much in a run of the mill Mexican restaurant on a week night. $8.00 for a cup of tortilla soup? WOW! Four stars for cleanliness, decor, service and food -1 star for being overpriced. read more

Needless to say I never went back, that is until recently. At the strong urging of other family members, I decided to give it another try, 16 years later! First impressions are a powerful thing. Well, I am now a Si Senor disciple! When good Mexican food is so hard to find in Oregon, Si Senor is definitely a bright spot. The chili rellenos are to die for and the salsa bar has enough choices to satisfy everyone. Our favorite time to go is the last Thursday of every month - Mariachi Night! For those that don't like mariachi music and don't like loud music in general this is not the time to go. Good food with family always hits the spot - especially when the food is delicious. I must admit, while writing this and viewing the photo's made me hungry for more Si Senor. This is our 4th visit to Si Senor in the past 12 months; we always enjoy the quality, quantity, and flavor of the fare. Today our order included: Enchilada's Verde, Vegan Enchilada's Verde, Polo Asada, & Polo Burrito. Everything is delicious; seriously good Mexican fare. We did miss a chip refill as many of the chips were broken and too small to dip, but the food filled the gap. You're wondering why not 5 stars? I deducted 1 star because I was charged .26 for chopped cilantro, typically a main staple at most places and complimentary - especially since I spent $80.00 for our meal. Was that worth -1 star? Maybe that's picking at nits, but that's the truth amigo. We will be back because this place is legit and I will look in the cracks of the bench seat for that quarter and penny for the cilantro. ;) read more

We are now gradually surveying the pandemic-hammered restaurant industry. Old favorites sometimes have lost a step, and maybe some have even improved. With our former favorite Mexican place having slipped notably--one tends to think wages are a factor--it was time to retry our second choice. The menu was a shock on a couple of levels. In Mexican places the menu is normally very long, sometimes with over a hundred items. Si Señor has seriously whittled theirs down to where it's more like the Red Lobster menu. They don't have nachos at all! Also, they don't give out printed menus automatically; they have these lucite blocks with a code for your phone to scan. I can see the advantages from a business standpoint, but I'm not into reading a menu on a phone. My enchiladas were all right, but nothing to get very excited about. Partner liked their chicken a little better than I did mine. Service overall was pretty good. It's a lot more expensive now than it was before, which is understandable. The rating here reflects that the local level of Mexican food was never high to begin with and I know of none I'd give five stars--less likely now. read more

Last evening we had a fabulous dinner at Si Senior, the one on SW Hall Blvd in Beaverton. I ate there years ago but forgot about it. There were 3 (adults) in our party and we were so glad we decided to eat there. The food and the service is excellent. The restaurant decor is lovely. I noticed how clean the restaurant is. I ordered a ground beef burrito plate with rice/beans. It was THE most delicious mexican food I've ever eaten. Reminded me of a place I used to go to when I lived down in Eugene, Oregon that we enjoyed very much. It is called Don Juan's. My husband ordered the shredded beef burrito plate with rice/beans. Both meals come topped with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole. Sara ordered street tacos and was very pleased with what she ate. We learned that on the last Thurs. of the month there is a Mariachi band that plays at Si Senior on Hall Blvd from 6 to 9 pm. We plan to go in Sept. Pretty sure we'll need a reservation. We noticed there was a steady flow of people leaving/coming in, on a Sunday evening. We had called ahead to inquire if we needed a reservation and was told we didn't need one this time. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and immediately got seated. We nibbled on the bean dip/salsa/chips while we looked at the menu. read more

My boyfriend and I are so glad we found Si Señor. It's only about 15 minutes away or less (driving from Portland to Beaverton), stays open pretty late (10pm/11pm on weekends), has a sweet staff and larger portion sizes than most competitors! Win. The detailed murals, carved chairs and vibrant decorations make the perfect backdrop for any date, girls night, family dinner or party. The menu has something for everyone too so it's hard to choose but hey, that's a good problem! :-) Our favorite dish so far is the Pollo Asado. It's grilled but still super juicy. I've been having to order pork or beef at other restaurants because the chicken is always dry, but not here! Yay! Can't go wrong with any of their margaritas either. We were then handed off to a gentleman that was also on it! Drinks were various and available in quick and very very vast options! Happy hour is both during closing and the typical hour after work which was nice to grab a night cap. The food was amazing! Yes, you will get a nice portion of meat with your meal so the value is definitely there for the price. The flavors were right on point and again, the service couldn't be better. He asked us all the options we needed for our meal and took good care of us when the bar was very busy. We really felt at home and never felt lost here.
