I've heard a lot of good things about Siam Noodle and Rice, and I had to give it a try. We got the panang chicken curry, dried fried beef, and the chicken satay. The chicken satay with the peanut sauce was so yummy and flavorful! The dried fried beef was something new to our palette, but we really enjoyed it! I wish it came with rice though. The panang chicken was tasty and flavorful; however, I wish it came with more veggies like potatoes and a little bit more chicken. The curry pairs so well with the rice though. The service was amazing! We got seated right away, and they were so polite and friendly when it came to taking our order and serving us. The ambiance feels like a hole in the wall spot, but you can tell they have authentic Thai cuisine with their Thai decor. There's a tiny parking lot, so there's the chance at free parking. read more

We stopped by here for dinner on a Sunday evening around 6:45pm. They were pretty busy but we only waited 10-15 minutes or so before being seated. The atmosphere in Siam is a little chaotic but like you stepped into a family dinner kind of way. The older host at the front was catching up with people who were clearly regulars, and warning people walking in that it was a 60 min wait for take out - concerned that they'd get too hungry. The prices here are EXTREMELY reasonable!! I couldn't even believe them when I saw them. Especially with the portion sizes! We got the fried tofu and 2 soups. I got the Tum Yum Noodle Soup because someone posted a photo and said it would be the their last meal if they were on death row. IT WAS AWESOME!!! I was feeling a little under the weather and this soup felt like a warm hug from a Thai grandma! Please please try it if you haven't already. The thicker noodles held a nicer texture, and there was a lot more chicken in it than I expected. I couldn't even finish the whole bowl! The soup came out piping hot and had acid, and was a little sour, a little sweet...all of the Thai flavors you could want. The past two years, we've ordered Pad Thai (our favorite Thai dish) from many Northside Chicago Thai restaurants, and we always seem to be disappointed, but Siam Noodle and Rice does not disappoint! We live in the neighborhood and this has become our go-to place for decent Pad Thai and other Thai specialties. We always carry-out our food (we live a block away), but there is a dining room is you'd like to eat there. It's not a fancy place, but it seems to be family-owned, and it's always busy. The sign of good food, right? Some of the standouts are the Pad Thai (order it with extra veggies), Rama, and the Fried Banana Rolls (sold as an appetizers, but qualifies as dessert). Go! I've been coming here since 1995 (original location was on Sheridan) and was introduced to this gem of a restaurant by my best friend during grad school. We came here on the suggestion of an acquaintance. It seems casual but can get full, so we made a reservation. They are BYOB NO charge! Excellent. We ate family style mostly (it was not my red meat day) and had potstickers, fried rice, and various other dishes (see below). They are very smart to have a menu with numbers next to the food so they don't have to hear people butcher the language. I enjoyed everything and took some stuff home. The tofu with greens and gravy was especially good, and it's hard to mess up egg rolls. The service was friendly and efficient, and even the owner/manager stopped by! I like when that happens, but my acquaintance is a long time customer so maybe that was why? It is not a big place but we had a decent crowd for a Tues/Wed. Ordered for takeout on Friday. It took about 20 minutes, and they were just finishing it up as I got there so everything was hot and fresh. It stayed that way for the 5 minute drive back home. We ordered the basil duck, deep fried chicken, crab rangoon, and Pad Prig Khing with Roast Pork. The crab rangoon was a bit different from the kind you normally find at restaurants. I'm not sure if I would say it seemed homemade, but they definitely at least use a unique supplier for it. The shell was nice and crispy, and the flavor was just ok. The deep fried chicken was quite good. Fried without any thick batter or breading, it was still really crispy, and the flavor was great. The basil duck and the pad prig khing but had good flavor, but I was a little disappointed by the portion size for the price. Compared to similar restaurants it was really not very much. Definitely enough to be full for one meal, but usually we like to have leftovers when we do takeout. Overall it was a good trip. The pad see ew is fantastic. Ordered it with beef, which paired so well with it. Here's a tip: order "prik nam pla," which is a condiment made of fish sauce and Birds Eye chilies. Considering the quality, it's a pretty good deal for almost everything. There's the classic favorites plus a few exotic ones. Came here the last time with the girl and we got a few classics. It's best to get here at lunch. The prices are better and there's still big portions. Be aware the restaurant isn't that big. Usually finding seats is okay. It's about $10 for an entree. There's some of the best classic Thai. I had the Pad Kee Mao. This has basil leaves, bean sprouts, black bean sauce, chili sauce, collard greens, eggs, wide rice noodles, and the choice of protein. Get it vegan by leaving out eggs. This was a filling amount, mostly because of the big noodles. She had the Pad See Ew. This was similar but had peanuts. Kao Na Ped (duck on rice with gravy), Thai Sausage (sausage Thailand-style!), Nom Tok Beef and Larb (minced meat and spicy citrus salad), Tod Mun (fish cakes and cucumber salad), Dried Beef (deep fried jerky with a tangy sauce), Basil Chicken (spicy ground chicken) are my favorites, but find yours. I think I've just continued my long term relationship with Siam Noodle and Rice. Have you ever dated someone and separated for a really long time and then got happily reunited?? No?? Well neither have I but that's how I feel about this recent experience. They used to be rock solid on Sheridan Rd. I moved outta Wrigleyville and haven't been back until they moved to this current location. I really like this new spot, located in a tiny strip mall so there's ample parking if you arrive at 11:00 a.m. I also like the seating arrangement as it's spacious and the windows let in a lot of natural light. As for the food, it's a mixed review but it doesn't deter from the 5 star rating. Some of this stuff, I'm unfamiliar with so I forced myself to try something new off the menu. Thank you also for the Yelp pics my fellow Yelpers, because it led me to try: - the fried beef, I love beef jerky - the roasted pork with green beans, very flavorful and crunchy - their chicken with green curry, love that coconut milk broth - old favorites chicken satay and spring rolls, nailed both like a gymnast planting her feet off a dismount. These were all very satisfying!! But I would skip the underwhelming crab Rangoon - which I thought would be a slam dunk for every Thai restaurant, not enough filling and fake crab.
