The food was absolutely disgusting. I feel like I was robbed. Shame on the owner for serving such HORRIBLE food. I called in for pickup, an order of orange chicken and fried rice. I had the LOWEST expectations due to the many horrible reviews it has and the positive ones being friends with the owner. I didn't mind cheap food- I like cheap American Chinese food. BUT this is next level. Garbage. Disgusting. Lower quality than cafeteria food. I arrived at the time they told me to arrive. I then proceeded to wait 35min longer. No problem. I get it. It happens. After paying $18.50 before tip for my single order of orange chicken and fried rice (more expensive than any place in seattle) I went home. Opened the box- and I am honest when I say this, I have NEVER felt so disappointed. I literally felt robbed of my money. The orange chicken is the cheapest of the cheapest quality frozen chicken with the spongiest texture. The glaze on the orange chicken tasted like chemicals. Absolutely zero flavor. Fried rice. ARE YOU JOKING?! For $20 after tip- this is the portion of fried rice you give customers? Absolutely ridiculous. The fried rice was the most horrid thing I have ever eaten. Picture the oldest rice in your fridge. Dry. No flavor. Super greasy. It literally only tasted like oil. And that tiny cup? Not a single vegetable. Just old rice and oil. In what world does fried rice not only come that small, but not a single vegetable? It's SO clear that the owner is being cheap at every level. Heck- the fortune cookies were hard as a rock and tasted like cardboard. I understand that small businesses have to cut some corners here and there. I have owned a few my self. This is the most authentic Chinese food I have had in this country. I grew in Hong Kong, and we moved here when I was 17. The egg drop soup has a flavor that reminded me of Bolo Yeung's famous soup on Chong Li street back home. The sweet and sour pork was very good. It was similar to famed American-Chines Chef Frank Dux's famed dish that I tried once in Los Angeles. I recommend this place. It is OK FOR USA! read more

The history in this food is fascinating. Family owned and operated for god knows how long I have grown to adore this place. My family and I moved here 3 years ago. Through various town committee meetings, local friends, and just hunger in general... We've grown to prefer Siam's take on Thai and Chinese food. Which from all accounts is honestly a combo of authenticity, catering to local requests, and personal preferences. I could see how an outsider looking in could judge this place differently. The sweet and sour sauce isn't radioactive red, and the egg rolls are tiny hand held bites... Etc. If you're looking for cookie cutter Asian cuisine, you're barking up the wrong tree. But if you're looking for Asian family cooking with lots of love in it. Try it. My likes: The Caramel Chicken Chow Mein (or... The Spicy Rick with Onions as the locals call it) The lunch or manager special. Oh... and the Pad Thai... yum... hot and sour soup. Cheese curds. Went for a late night meal to Siam Palace after seeing the latest blockbuster movie in Ephrata last night ......and we had already bypassed a Chinese restaurant after the movie because the place was not inviting. We had been to Siam a couple times together so chose to drive the hour to get a nice meal. It was a disappointment. The place was busy and had loud patrons all around us. I guess no filtering or courteous low level chatting?, Difficult to have a quiet date night conversation. My date ordered the orange chicken and asked to sub white rice to noodles. Told no substitutions. Bummed. I then ordered the shrimp egg foo young. Did not want the white sticky rice so asked for the fried rice instead. My date gave me her fried rice on the side as well. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time but the server never once stopped by to ask how everything was or if we would like more water or tea. The orange chicken was not fresh chicken.....looked like and tasted like chicken nuggets which they poured orange flavored sauce over. Poor taste at best. She had about 4 of them. I enjoyed my main meal with no issues. The 2 sides of " fried" rice was not fried at all. Just white rice with soy flavored sauce on it. Nothing in it. No egg, no veggies, no sprouts etc...Nothing was fried at all. Was charged 75 cents for each side of the "fried" rice!! Very disappointing for a sub for the sticky white rice. We felt ignored and not valued patrons. Next date night will not include a meal at Siam. read more

We got one of the family combos that included egg drop soup, sweet and sour pork ribs, fried rice, almond chicken, fried prawns, and a vegetable dish I can't remember the name of. Out of all of these dishes, the only ones that weren't completely terrible were the almond chicken and fried prawns. The fried rice was probably the worst. It tasted like the rice had been soaked in soy sauce for days and I was barely able to take one bite. Fried rice is a pretty easy dish, shocked they were able to fuck up this badly. The sweet and sour pork ribs were terrible. Honestly, the taste wasn't that bad, about as good as what you would get at an average high school cafeteria. What really took me out was the smell. They smelled absolutely terrible, almost impossible to take a bite of. I was able to eat one, didn't have anymore. The vegetable dish would've been fine if it weren't for all the added frozen vegetables. The soup was mostly just bland, didn't really taste like anything. The vegetables in the soup were clearly frozen, though. The almond chicken and fried prawns were ok, but they weren't good either. About as tasty as something you would get at an average Chinese restaurant. The only positive of this place was the staff. The servers were all kind and lovely. Overall, probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Ended up just eating a muffin for dinner. read more

Our family has been camping in the Grand Coulee area for almost 30 years. Off and on we've dined at various places but usually for lunch or not at all. And I understand that the area is somewhat lackluster in terms of swanky dining with the seemingly depressed local economy. That being said, I wish I could give Siam Palace zero stars. The 1 star goes the staff who are super friendly and accommodating. The "food" is a such a gross interpretation of Chinese that even in my worst imagination couldn't imagine this staple of American being broken any further than here. The rice was soaked in soy sauce with barely any vegetables or eggs topped with a chopped BBQ pork decoration. Same for the noodles. My son called the crispy pork meat balls. The brown sauce was sweet and nasty and was used liberally wherever one would expect sweet and sour or Mongolian sauce. There was more bread/batter on all the meat than actual meat (prawns, chicken, etc.). To top it all off the soda machine was serving flat soda. I know I may seem like a snob out of towner so I guess I'll leave it at this: if you are looking for a place to eat try something else. read more

I used to enjoy ordering from Saim when visiting Grand Coulee, but after tonight I will never go back. (Old rating 3). Tonight they gave us less than 2/3rd a regular portion. For the first time ever everything was finished when 4 people ordered 4 dishes, and we all felt like we could eat more. ($38+TIP!) (Pictures added) Also, the noodle dishes that were supposed to have veggies had almost none. We ordered a "Chicken Sub Gum" that is only supposed to be Chicken and Veggies -- all the veggies were obviously frozen. (The zig-zag on the carrots & their sogginess was the clear sign.) (See photos.) The "Managers Special" = Lo Mein noodles with veggies had almost no veggies and the noodles were so very dry. (See photos.) We also ordered the "Drunken Noodles" which also was supposed to have veggies and almost had none. The paper to-go chinese food box was litterally 1/2 full... how much did we just pay for barely half a dish??? (See photos.) THEN, the side of "Fried Rice" was litterally only half a scoop of just rice. The pictures show veggies and egg... but no. Just rice. And three bites at that. WTF? All were bland. Quite possibly the worst Chinese "Thai" restaurant we've been to. Overpriced, for small dinner portions. Bland flavors, everything swimming in sauce (both Chinese and Thai dishes), and frozen veggies. We didn't see a single Asian person in the building, let alone in kitchen. Waiter said restaurant started as Chinese years ago, but added Thai food. Probably got a lot of demand from people traveling through (like my family). Save your money and taste buds and go somewhere else. We ended up walking to Safeway for better frozen dishes after this experience! We were excited to go eat a real meal after munching travel food out of our cooler for 2 days.. and found ourselves staring at a plate of greasy lo mein noodles with soy sauce and oil coating them, along with a handful of nasty pork tidbits. Blech! THAT was supposed to be chow mein. Then, we ordered a rice noodle dish that was only incrementally better. The egg flower soup was a tiny bowl of weak chicken broth with a few little "egg flowers" (aka stirred egg white),with a few kernels of frozen vegetables tossed in for good measure. This place is a local institution and locals swear by it. The staff and service are good and having been back four or five times over the past 3 years I've added another star. Some things remain capable of improvement, cooking vegetables more al dente, they frequently seem over cooked, and the prices seem steep for the very rural region and the interior while clean could use updating. There are some new menu items which are promising. Drunken Noodles is a new menu item which is good. Pad Kee Mow, the flat rice noodles are a nice change and the broccoli could be held a few minutes more before adding to the stir. My wife likes their Chicken Satay which is listed as an appetizer, she takes it as an entree. Recent changes are all positive. read more

My husband and I thought the food was terrible. everything was brown and burnt no color and dog food would be much tastier. The waitress brought us another sweet and sour pork because ours was so burnt and the second one looked just as burnt and nasty. not the only ones that feel this way, the pictures with color and veggies must have came from another restaurant because we only had two slivers of veggies in our chow main. read more

While the Thai dishes are my favorite, really everything is good...you can't go wrong. I absolutely love the food here and just can't stop coming back. Everything I have had here has been amazing, I really don't think you can go wrong! Some of my favorites are the Drunken Noodles and both of the Coconut soups! The owner continues to add new items to the menu and I always make sure to try the new items as they just keep getting better, I have never been disappointed! One of my pet peeves with restaurants is when I ask for something extra spicy I really do want to spicy and not your general gringo friendly hot, this place will actually make it spicy if you ask for it that way! Favorite place to eat in the Grand Coulee Dam area! The "Siam Supreme" and Spicy Pad Thai are definitely my personal favorites, but everything I've ever had there has been great. I'd also recommend the BBQ Pork as an appetizer. The Sweet and Sour pork (which comes with the Siam Supreme) is to die for. Siam Palace is one of the few places that does sweet and sour sauce the right way, once you try it you won't want to go back to the weird red/orange jelly stuff other places serve! Portion sizes are generous, and if you can't finish it all there, get a to go box because leftovers are something to look forward to! GO HERE! read more

I head to the Grand Coulee area at least once a year and always make a point to get a meal here. I look foward to it almost as much as the lakes and sunny weather. I am Chinese. Having lived in Seattle, San Francisco and Vancouver BC, I have a keen palate for both Thai and Chinese cuisine. I understand that in this part of the state it's hard to get authentic ingredients so I kept this in mind. We came to this restaurant about 20 yrs ago and vowed NEVER to set foot in this pretend Chinese restaurant. Since then, they've expanded to include Thai food. I was in a mood for 'exotic' in this meat&potato country. Besides after reading the reviews, we thought we'd chance it. The menu was limited (both Chinese & Thai) but we still recognized all the dishes. True to our promise, we steered clear of the Chinese dishes. We were seated close to the kitchen so my husband had a limited view of the cook staff. He saw an asian man who appeared to be a cook (not a bus boy), so we were really hopeful as we waited for our meal. For my husband and me, we ordered 3 Thai dishes: Tom Ka Gai soup, Pad Se Ew noodles, Panang Curry Beef with asparagus. No drinks. The bill came to $32+. The taste of each dish was flavorful enough but not exactly authentic. They used fresh ingredients but of course lacked some of the more authentic ingredients - i.e. fresh basil, lemon grass, galangal. For the price, the portions were scant. The presentation was also lacking. Our Panang, expecting to be tender beef slices & asparagus in a rich reddish brown curry, usually drizzled with coconut milk was instead 8 small slices of pale beef, 4 asparagus spears chopped into 1" pieces swimming in cream colored coconut curry...and this dish was $11.95. The soup was mediocre...I missed screening lemon grass through my teeth and detected no hint of the pungent fish sauce. The rice noodles in the Pad Se Ew were not fresh but were rehydrated dried egg noodles. The use of jalapeño pepper gave it a good zing. Broccoli flowerettes were not abundant. A rice serving was one tiny ice-cream scooper full. HeLLO! I'm Chinese one tiny scoop is not going to cut it. My husband donated half his rice to me to squelch my whimpering. So my puzzlement of why the 5 star reviews was laid to rest as we were walking out of the restaurant: just about every table we walked by was laden with 'American' Chinese food - chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls, sweet sour meats, sub-gum, chop suey. I guess we ordered the 'wrong' dishes. So let's get real about setting expectations. If you're expecting authentic, this is NOT the place. If you're looking to fill up on American Chinese, I guess this is the place. I am tempted to try their Friday lunch buffet if ever I develop a craving for American-Chinese food. read more

If you are new to the area or just passing through, I recommend trying the Caramel Chicken, Mongolian Chicken or Mongolian Beef. All three of these meals are amazing and are not on the main menu yet. It's a perfect serving size too. I never felt that I over ate. read more

We ate here looking for some variety. Not too many choices here in the local area. It was reasonably priced but was lacking a little in quality. We had sweet and sour spare ribs, fried rice and almond chicken. Leading off with bbq pork it was tough and a little dry. The sweet and sour spare ribs had small slivers of bone and was not tender at all. The sauce was good though. The fried rice was very dry and not vary flavorful. The almond chicken was decent. This summer I biked across the country with a group of students raising money for young adults with cancer. We'd just hauled it through Eastern Washington and were craving something a little more ethnic and were pleasantly met by Siam Palace. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical about Thai food in Grand Coulee, but boy was I wrong. After days of relatively bland food on our trip Siam Palace's curry hit the spot. The food was terrific. The curry I had was flavorful, visually pleasing, and had a great kick to it. I would absolutely return to Siam Palace. Not only was the food great, the service was, too. The staff was very welcoming and did a great job. They also supported our cause by helping the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. So, to recap, great people, great food, great times. This is hands down the worst Chinese food we have ever eaten. The portions were tiny. The egg flower soup was water with frozen veggies, no flavor. The pad thai used old ingredients, the teriyaki tasted like soy sauce and the rice was burnt. They weren't able to make the thai iced tea I ordered because they said they didn't have time and while our server was friendly, we heard another server be rude to another family.
