This was such a great dining experience. The staff was friendly and also appropriately helpful on our first visit to make sure we understood exactly what to do. Went here for the first time. The ambience was nice and the restaurant was clean. Service was great and attentive. Food however, lacked. First it was $16.99 a pound. Now not a bad price for decent food but the items were very basic. Veggies were the cheapest ones you can get. Cabbage, carrots, green onions, canned pineapple, canned baby corn and squash. The meat was typical like you see at mall style food court places like this oddly no shrimp. The noodles were tough and bland. I was excited to see the variety of sauces but none were that great watered down for the most part flavorless. In fact the wait staff told us the basic stir fry sauce tastes like water they were right! The cooks were nice but he accidentally put chili oil on mine which he caught and I told him it was fine. In the end it was my first experience and most likely my last. I just don't see the value in this when there are so many other options at the same price or cheaper on the Avenue. Second time here and I am confident I will probably return again as this is good, but expensive tasty stuff! At the buffet there are frozen slices of chicken, beef and pork, a wide selection of fresh veggies and noodles, but do note that there are no jalapenos to spice things up! At the grill there are oodles of flavoring sauces, but none, (this is a major negative at a Mongolian grill) with any heat content to heap into a separate bowl. Something I wasn't aware of until this visit is, the grillmaster weighs your meat and veggie bowl's content and you pay for the total weight (minus the tare weight) regardless of what is in it. The flavoring sauce bowl is added while cooking and is not weighed as part of your meal content. In the future I will probably pick more meat and fresh veggies and less noodles! White or brown rice is included if you ever see your server and the Pepsi product drinks are bottomless. Clean, spacious and can be considered a healthier option compared to fast food! Though much more expensive. Next visit here I will order water as that diet Pepsi was $3.00 and I wasn't offered a refill or the included bowl of rice until I was finished with my meal. Other than asking for my drink order, my "server" was non-existent until the bill is presented towards the end of the meal. The bill has printed on the bottom, suggested tip amounts based on your total. I find that tacky when it is a buffet and the grill masters have their tip jars out also! This would have been a 4 star visit if the server had visited my table at least once during my meal and offered me my rice and topped off the drink. It's just...ok. Unfortunately, they've started using water during cooking. They never used to use water in the cooking process. It used to be that only the sauces you chose were the liquid the veggies/noodles were cooked in. Resulted in a MUCH better flavor. That needs to be restated....MUCH BETTER FLAVOR without the water. The water washes away the flavor and they wait way too long to put the sauce on so the veggies don't have time to suck up the sauce flavor because they're all water logged already. I was a customer at the beginning when they opened in 1997. I remember well how it used to be. Was so excited for gluten free noodles and gf sauces. But it really wasn't great anymore due to the water. Hubs and I went three times trying to give the benefit of the doubt. But it's not worth paying that much for it to be bland and meh. Shon - you've worked hard to survive the difficult service industry and even made it through COVID which is an impressive feat. But something sad has happened to quality and execution in the years since you began. I hope you can fix it. There are more vegetarians and gluten free folks around here than ever. And all the ones I chatted with say they won't go here. I think you're missing the mark and a big opportunity. I also noticed it wasn't as clean as it used to be. The tables look discolored/grayish and are a sticky/tacky like a cheap diner. Again, this place could absolutely do better and, for the price they're charging, should do better. Good food with fresh vegetables, meat, and a variety of rice choices. The only DRAWBACK is how very expensive they are! Ouch! Went to dinner there with a friend last month. My bowl was average at $32.00 and my friends had a bit more (a rounded bowl) and hers was $37. Be warned that their charges are based on the weight of how much you selected to put in your bowl minus the rice's weight. If your bowl is really full when you give it to the stir fry guy it will be around $35, which it's a lot for one person. read more

I've noticed that Wenatchee does not have a huge diversity of Asian food, so I'm glad that they have a Mongolian grill. Although this isn't the best Mongolian grill I've been to, it definitely hits the spot. If you've never been to one, all you do is basically choose your ingredients and sauces from the buffet-style ingredient tables. Once you've done that, you take it to the grill where someone will cook it up for you. It's nice for picky eaters because they can choose exactly what they want to eat. At Wok About Grill, they don't have a huge array of proteins or vegetables to choose from. But, what they have is enough and seems fairly fresh. There are quite a bit of sauces and they do offer some recommendations on which sauces to mix together. That's pretty nice if you have no idea what sauce combo to use. This place is fairly expensive and it is hard to measure how much money you're spending until you get to the scale. When I went in January 2018, the price was $10.40 per pound. So, just be aware of how much you're actually putting into the huge bowl that they allow you to use or you'll be paying a pretty hefty price. Just a note, we had an amazing waitress!! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to grab/remember her name. But, she went above and beyond to make my boyfriend and I feel welcome. We told her that we were new in town and that my boyfriend was looking for a job. She made some great recommendations for his job search. If anything, I would come back to Wok About Grill to have her serve us again. read more

Just finished dinner here. The food was good but things seem kind of disorganized and different from other Mongolian places. You pay by the weight $9/pound which seems a little high for stir fry. You start off with a large bowl, mounding up chicken, beef, pork and sausage. Next up is the vegetables. Celery, carrots, beansprouts, pineapple, water chestnut and so on... You get a second bowl to mix your sauces in. Teriyaki, ginger, sherry, garlic, salt water, and five or six others. The cooks ask if you would like chili oil and how hot (mild, medium or hot). Once finished the cook takes it, weighs it (sauce not include) and starts pushing it around the grill. Five minutes or so they finish up, give you a platter with a sticker for the cost. What was interesting was the choice of white rice, brown rice or tortillas. Never had the tortilla option before. Soda and liquor from the bar. read more

Wok About Grill is super good! Love the food, staff is great too. The prices are a bit outrageous though. They need to figure out a happy medium. I got a tiny bowl and it was $13.00. My husband had a larger amount but by no means super huge and it was $23.00. Also, the place was not super busy. If they lowered prices a bit they would keep busier and that would mean more tips for employees and more money made by restaurant. They have been around many years. read more

Hooooooly cow, did this place ever teach me not to bring my expectations with me to Wenatchee whenever I visit. An Americana approach to Chinese food is totally acceptable. This isn't billed as authentic cuisine, so it's not fair to judge them for it. However, I had a major WTF moment as I watched them "grill" my food: Wok About adds a ton of water to steam your food on the grill and then constantly shuffles it around in the puddle of water instead of... grilling it. No caramelization or grill marks anywhere on the food. The entire purpose of going to Mongolian grill is that the food is grilled. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, you know? My veggies were undercooked due to being cut too big and then put through this odd steaming process. Not what I think of when I think "Mongolian grill", that's for sure. Providing me with a wide selection of sauces and condiments in order to add some desperately-needed flavor to their food earned them a second star. No reason to come here if you can cook stir fry worth a damn in your own kitchen. read more

Maybe I am a bit harsher and more bias because I am comparing the quality of the experience to restaurants on the other side of the mountain (Greater Seattle Area). To me, the restaurant reminds me of places like Mongolian Grill and Panda Express, neither of which I am a fan of. The interior is dark and dim lit, reminds me of a dark Chinese lounge restaurant or perhaps it was a former pub. I think what folks like about the place is the ability to customize dishes.
