Now a regular at Peking Chinese Restaurant, I've discovered "Curried Shrimp". It's not one of the protein choices on their menu, but they're happy to offer it. More accurately, "Curried Vegetables and Shrimp", it is served over onion, celery, carrot, bell pepper, and zucchini, swimming in curry sauce with more shrimp than you would expect. (See pic) And it comes with a full cup of steamed rice. Why it works: - Unlike sweet'n'sour, breaded , crispy entrées which are cooked in advace and kept warm, the shrimp in curry is cooked fresh for every order. - consequently, the vegetables are "al dente" (tender but still firm to the bite). That crispness preserves the individual flavor of each vegetable. I start every meal with a superfacta of: - ice water - hot and sour soup - egg flour soup, and... - black tea with sugar It's all covered in the price of the entrée. Waited an hour for a to go order that was quoted 20 mins to be done. Then we get home and no soup with the meal. Peking dropped soup off the family combination dinner menu. After going there for 15+years and getting the soup with this meal, we ordered and didnt get the soup? We asked and they took it off the list 7mos ago but dont tell anyone anymore. The way we were treated after asking this was enough to make me leave this review. We will no longer go to this restaurant because of the total lack of care and poor customer service. Price did not reflect the change with the soup being taken off the menu either. Poor people skills and no care taken. Rude! Then the food was over battered and MEH. We were hesitant to stop by for lunch, because of the low star rating? Except, Google led us to a phantom restaurant (4-star), so on to the next closest Chinese restaurant. Pulled into the parking lot around noon. The parking lot was packed, literally! We ordered Peking chow mein, sweet-n-sour pork, and broccoli beef. All dishes were excellent. This restaurant has been a regular in this town. BUT since there are the only Chinese restaurant in town, they think it is okay to increase the prices often AND are always out of product. In addition, my last experience was to be charged for food that I did not receive. I find this activity as stealing. read more

What a fantastic find! First off, we have no idea why the rating at Peking are not better or at least 4 stars. Our meal was absolutely fantastic! The best American Chinese we have had in Eastern Washington. The Almond Chicken was awesome. Beef and Broccoli was fantastic and the Wor Wonton was sooo good! To top it off our server Zack was awesome. Excellent service and on top of it from start to end. We will definitely be back for our after skiing meal after a great day at Mission Ridge. We had a very tasty take-out! Your traditional American-Chinese food. We hadn't eaten there since they closed during covid. I had no idea they had reopened! A friend of mine was unwell, she said she would love her usual from Peking. So my family decided to give it a try, too! The food was hot, fried things were crispy, MSG was there (haha), and their hostess was friendly. Its been about 6 mos and we are going to order again tonight. read more

For this being the limited Chinese food in Wenatchee it was not bad. Fast service and generous portions. I will say though that they should give bigger portions of rice for the meals & if you get a fountain drink they DO NOT do free refills. NOT KID FRIENDLY! I know kids are messy and loud and sometimes chaotic. My kids were definitely not as quiet or clean as we would have hoped, but they are 2 and 3. We were apologetic about their mess and cleaned up after them as best as we could the whole time and tipped the waitress very generously knowing she would have to clean our table when we left. She was excellent! She was very understanding, attentive and kind. Very personable. Of course my 2 year old was just not having it at the end of dinner and was throwing his fries, napkins and anything he could get his hands on, on the floor. As I leaned to him to pick him up and remove him from the table, he quickly grabbed a plate and chucked it on the floor and it broke. My husband promptly started picking up the pieces and as the waitress came over to clean it up, we apologized profusely and she was very understanding that accidents happen and cleaned it up. She came back after a few minutes and said "the kitchen is telling me that we have to charge you $10 for the plate." I could tell she was uncomfortable and didn't want to tell us. We reluctantly, but kindly agreed to pay it to spare her from any repercussions or additional stress. We overheard the manager or someone "in charge" being very loud to the waitress in regards to the situation. I have never seen any restaurant charge a customer for an accidental dish breaking. No. If you are looking for flavorful, authentic Chinese food, do NOT order from here. I ordered 5 entrees and egg rolls for a large family dinner and had it delivered from Dashing Drivers. The bill with tip was $174. We received the food in a timely manner, but all of it was horribly bland. The "General Cho's" chicken was drowning in sauce and over fried. The "chow mein" seemed to have been steamed until all the vegetables, chicken and noodles were all the same, pale color. The noodles were mushy and the whole dish was swimming in a bland sauce that tasted like creamy chicken noodle soup. The BBQ pork fried rice had about 5 small dots of bland (not bbq) pork and was overloaded with peas. The portion of the rice was enough for 1 person. The broccoli beef was over-seasoned and the beef tasted like it was frozen and heated up. The "Egg Foo Yung" was probably the worst of all: the "pancakes" were like undercooked, thick, flavorless omelettes with a handful of overcooked, tough and bland strips of "pork" scattered on top. The gravy was thick and also without any flavor at all. To top off a horrible dinner, they packed a small bag with packets of soy sauce and THREE fortune cookies. Just three....for a $174 dinner. Do NOT support this sad, horrible excuse for a "Chinese Restaurant". You are better off ordering Chinese takeout from Safeway. read more

My husband and I decided to give this place a chance. It was pretty good! Really nice servers! There are things they could improve. Pork chow mein had good flavor. Sweet and sour sauce could be a little more tasty but not bad. My husband got sweet and sour shrimp and it was comical. Tiny little shrimp with gobs of breading. I mean gobs to make it look like normal size. Egg flour soup was good. I got an egg roll in my dish and it was tiny. Taste was okay. We tried their bbq pork and it was super dry. Not a lot of flavor. I would give it a 3.5 but rounded up to 4. We might go back again since it is the only place in Wenatchee with half way decent Chinese food. read more

The General Tso's Chicken and egg flower soup are delicious and not too thick. The tea is delicious and the sweet and sour sauce does not taste like ketchup. The food is tasty and the owners are lovely people. Great serving staff. Overall wonderful experience. This place appears to be hard for some to find but it is just one street behind the former Golden East Chinese restaurant (there is a roundabout involved depending on which way you go up or down the street) and is now the only Chinese restaurant in the valley. Gathered with family for my grandfathers birthday, and will never visit again. Our table was reserved for 5:30 our order was taken maybe 15 minutes after then. Appetizers got to the table at 6:30, and it was almost 7 when only my grandparents plates got to the table. After my sons plate got to the table we decided the wait was not worth the experience we had got up until then. Driving to dinner after our movie got out. My husband was looking up the restaurant online to make sure they were open and commented on how low of a rating they have. I said it's probably due to long wait times and a lack of staffing. We arrived at 7:20pm hoping to squeeze in before they closed. I was happy to see they were still open until 8 and I knew we could get in and out without holding the staff too long, my husband used to be a waiter so I'm sensitive to late arrivals. Walked up to the counter and the gentleman told me they were closed. I said I thought you closed at 8pm to which he replied "we're slow, so we're closing". Mind you there were 6 filled booths with menus still in hand for a couple of those tables . Of course I'm irritated but just turned around and left. Not trying to be a Karen...As I got in the car I told my husband that as a restaurant owner I would be pretty upset to find out people were being turned away especially during this time of restaurants needing customers. Look I understand lack of staff and needing to be mindful about when to stay open or closed but it just doesn't surprise me that their rating is so poor. I've eaten at the Peking Restaurant several times. For the most part I've been pleased with their menu items, but I'm not too adventurous so I stick with their combination dinners. I've been disappointed a few times with some items not being available (mostly egg foo yong). They are pretty flexible with substituting. Last time we went (Aug 2021) they were really busy and our food didn't come out at the same time. One person was done eating before the rest of us got our food. The server explained to us that they have a new cook and he didn't coordinate with the head chef to make sure the meals arrived together. I understand that, but poor coordinating is an organization problem that they need to work on. read more

Such a shame!! This place used to be great! You would have to wait to be seated especially on the weekends. Not so much anymore. I took my friend for his birthday and neither of us had been there in a long time due to COVID. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening. We just thought we were lucky. We ordered and the food was terrible and the service was even worse!! It is very easy to see why there aren't any customers anymore! It speaks volumes. Very flippant server who really did not care if you were happy with the food or not. We informed her that the food was either lukewarm or some of it was even cold. She just shrugged her shoulders and said "It was deep fried in the back and then brought out to you." And turned her nose up and walked away without offering to fix it in any way, or warm up the food. This place used to be so good. There was a lot of food, but when it doesn't taste good and it is cold you don't want to eat it. We boxed up most of it to take as left overs but before we could even get back home both of our stomachs were hurting or feeling bad so all of the leftovers went in the trash as we were afraid to eat anymore of it! We went last night as a family. 13 people. We got our table and water, had a waitress come back and ask if we were ready and we told her we needed maybe 5 more minutes. Then we sat there for half an hour waiting for someone to come back and take our order. No one came back at all. So we decided to leave. Upon our arrival, we get seated and get our waters, the qaitress tried to hand a 3 uear old. Who doesnt very well understand the xoncept of a cup without a lid, and watched as most of us scrambled to grab it so he didnt dump ice cold water all over himself. She looked at us with an angry face and asked if he really needed a lid. We came in with 2 kids under 4, who normally sit in a high chair or booster seat when we go out anywhere. They only had 1 high chair and ine booster seat. When we finally decided to leave. Yet ahain no one said a single word to us. read more

It's not my favorite soup to begin with, but I enjoyed my cup. I ordered sautéed almond chicken, which was a little lacking in flavor for me. I added some garlic and pepper to the leftovers and it was much more to my taste. I do want to point out some good points of the dish. The chicken was extremely tender and the dish was not swimming in oil like what you may experience at other restaurants. I really appreciate that. The vegetables were varied (zucchini, carrots, onion, baby corn, celery and a few slices of water chestnut) and proportions were nicely balanced. The veggies were cooked to perfection. My friend ordered Mongolian beef. The beef was also tender and the dish was delicious. I will definitely go again and try other dishes as the service was stellar and I really like the healthier approach to using less oil. I'm sure I can find a few favorites on their menu. read more
