We just got back tonight and honestly - why didn't we send our food back. We had the Thai scallops in lemon grass - scallops were old and full of sand, the dish was horrible, rice was old (RICE!!!), the soup was horrible, full of house mushrooms with watery coconut flavor. The last time, we got eggplant that was raw and hard in a dish. Things have little flavor. Don't know why this place is popular. It's not very good. We kept mentioning to our waiter (not his fault) that it was bad but he just kept saying, 'sorry' . Godzilla roll was pretty good, avocado, shrimp tempura, eel on top, spicy mayo. Overall pretty good bite. It was pricey at $20 though so definitely on the higher end of sushi. They have the best crab Rangoon's I've ever had, because instead of frying the wonton wrapper, they bake it. So more goon per wrapper, less unnecessary crunch, and less fighting with stubborn gluten. I like their outside area, nice plants. Overall, service is pretty good too. they'll be patient with you and if you ask them to surprise you, there is a chef's special for sushi. read more

I've been eating here for years. Seems like it's gone downhill the last couple of years. I used to get the crispy duck all the time. It's not so crispy anymore. Recently I got the lemongrass scallops over eggplant. You can see in the picture, they don't even really look like scallops. Kind of chopped up. When I pay $30 for a scallop dish, I want to see big meaty scallops with a nice golden crust. I got none of that here. And one of my scallops still had the "foot" attached to it. Referring to that rubbery connective muscle that connects the scallop to its shell. Those are supposed to be removed before cooking. The calamari was pretty good and the chicken wings were delicious. Since we first decided to try Siam Sushi last year it's really become our go-to Asian food place. My husband lives their Pad Thai & I recently turned him onto Thai tea & he loves it. We've eaten there & ordered take-out. However, Christmas Eve (i know) I ordered for a specific pickup time - something I've never done - an hour before arriving. My order was on the counter ready for me but... I'm not sure how long it had been there because the ONLY food still really warm was the Pad Thai. I get it was a busy night but I was disappointed to arrive one minute after I asked for it to be ready & more than 1/2 my order was luke warm. Yes, this isn't a significant amount but I felt it unethical that they charged my card more than what is on the DoorDash app! It should have been $0.55! Impressive little sushi and Thai joint smacked in a plaza with a Publix, a UPS, and a variety of other restaurants. Originally passed by there as I had a massive craving for noodles. That and it was close by to the movies where we planned to go after. We were sat right away in a booth. Our waitress was nice and polite, handing us the menus. The drink menu alone resembles a book. Anyway, he chose to get some beer. I passed on it and just had water. We reviewed the food menu and what do you know? I guess my craving for noodles wasn't that strong if I chose to get a sushi roll instead. Oh, and some miso soup to warm me up as I was frozen from the cold. The miso soup was hot and flavorful. It did its job in opening up my appetite, but more so, returning the feeling of warmth across my body. You've no idea how much I needed that. The sushi roll was an American Dream or their version of a green dragon roll. I was between this and another roll that was essentially a red dragon roll. Biting into the roll, I was tickled pink. This was some of the freshest fish I've had and to think it's readily available in Tallahassee of all places. Well, I'm flabbergasted. In comparison, he had chicken pad Thai. I can't say much except it was a generous-looking portion. Honestly this restaurant is worth five stars, but here's where the rating changes. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. We were on a time limit. We get a dessert menu from another waitress, but by the time we could place the order, we had to prep to leave for the movies. Anyone who is close to me knows that I could eat sushi every day of my life! It is hands down my favorite food group in existence and thus, I am always in search of a new sushi restaurant to try. Overall, I am relatively new to the Tallahassee area and I've tried several sushi restaurants and Siam sushi is one of my top choices! I came here the other week with my classmates to celebrate a completion of a test and I was so impressed. The restaurant has an expansive layout and there are several different areas for both large and small groups. The restaurant was clean and the staff is very welcoming! Plus, they have lunch specials-for food and drinks. Who doesn't love that?! Most importantly-the food is amazing! I ordered both the Siam mini and The Godfather roll. Upon delivery of my food, I instantly noticed the substantial portions. I've never had a sushi roll this large and could not finish my meal. The ingredients were fresh and the flavor was delicious! I also ordered Crab Rangoon which was made with fresh crab and was perfectly crispy. And to round off the meal, I finished it with a glass of plum wine which was sweet and delicious. I walked in and was greeted by the staff working at the Sushi Bar. They had huge smiles and seemed excited about the day. I asked if I could sit outside as the weather was just perfect, and they said yes. I sat myself at a little table and waited for the server. She comes out with a drink menu and food menu. I inquired about any specials and was happy hour. The server took my drink order and appetizer order for crab Rangoon. A different server brought out the tasty treat. It was warm and filled with tasty cream cheese and real crab. Yes real crab! It was the best crab Rangoon I have had in quite some time. What seemed like forever waiting for my sever to take my main course order. The appetizer was all eaten and my drink was empty. Finally, she came and took my order for Florida sushi roll, tempura roll, and chicken hibachi which comes with veggies, rice, chicken, and fried dumplings. The food came out perfect. The sushi was incredibly delicious. The hibachi was tasty. Lots of great flavors all around. The dumplings were my favorite part. The flavors were on point. Definitely recommend this place for the food. Again, drink went empty and had to ask another server for my check. My server came took all the dishes except for what I was going to box from my large hibachi order. She took all the utensils and so I had to use my hands to put it into the Togo container. I ordered a trust me roll to go and an order.of.crab Rangoon. The appetizer.was good. I was disappointed in the trust me roll. I will accept my role on this, because on the.phone I indicated that I did.not.want any.fruit or fruit.sauces on the roll (not completely trusting, huh?). I rambled a couple of other things, but stopped myself saying I like everything else. The roll seemed like a regular salmon roll with cream cheese and escolar (or some white fish) and a scoop of spicy tuna and seaweed on the side. Okay, not exciting but that's fine. Something in the roll, though didn't taste fresh. Specifically One of the fish (my guess is that white fish) and it ruined the roll for me. Fish that's not fresh in a raw preparation is a no no. For the Yelpers that love sushi, I'm sure most of you have your favorite raw fish joint. Mine is Siam Sushi. Been to almost all of the sushi restaurants around town multiple times and you may be able to find a place that does each one of these better but in my opinion, Siam Sushi provides the best variety, quality, taste and value combined. If you take a look at the menu, you'll notice multifarious sushi options so there should be something to please even the pickiest sushi eater. The quality has been some of the freshest I've had. No pungent fishy odors. Exceptional tastes and the costs aren't too high either but it can get pricey if you select some of the more expensive rolls. Everyone has their favorite sushi bar in town and can probably tell you why that is. I'm no different and for me, it's Siam Sushi. P.S. Make sure you try the Thai Beignets. read more

Hands down the best Thai and Japanese fusion I've ever been to in my life! The sushi boat was amazing, the crab fried rice was perfectly fried, the Tom yum soup was perfectly balanced, the drinks were strong, and the desserts had the right balance of presentation and sweetness! I've been here several times for both the Thai food and the sushi. I always sit outside, and tonight my friend brought her Irish wolfhound. There was plenty of room for her to lay down. The restaurant is in a strip mall so sitting outside means a lot of people watching as they bustle about going to Publix and the liquor store. The porch is cozy though with a little decorative fountain in the corner. The servers are always friendly and brought the dog water without us asking. The crab Rangoon is lightly crisp and filled with warm deliciousness. I've gotten the red dragon, hurricane, mini Siam, and Japanese bagel rolls. They are all great with the hurricane being my least favorite and the mini being my favorite. The Thai ice tea is as good as it should be. They serve it with whipped cream so be sure to have them leave it off if you're not a fan. The Tom kha gai is always terrific and sometimes I'll pick one up to go. The prices are on par for other sushi restaurants in this area. Restrooms were pretty clean, too. I can't think of anything I don't like about this place. I had high hopes for my last meal in Tallahassee before catching a flight home. Siam checked the boxes - easy parking, efficient service and promising reviews. My wakame salad was a nice size and I added additional sesame ginger dressing to the greens beneath the seaweed - it was like two salads in one. I ordered a sushi roll with fresh salmon and unagi. The serving was plentiful. The story takes a turn here. The sushi rice was inedible for me. It was a mushy, paste like texture where you could barely distinguish each grain of rice. The rice was also warm, which was contrary to what I crave with sushi -- a refreshing bite of fish and a contrast in textures and temperature from the various ingredients. So good. Wish there were more words in my vocabulary to describe Massaman curry, one of the sweetest styles of curry, is a Siam Sushi special. Thai style with braised short ribs, but is also influenced by many varieties of Indian curry. Rather than spices, most of Siam Sushi massaman curry's flavor comes from cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. The braised short rib Massaman Curry was a deep orange from the roasted spices, a sweet and slightly sour delight. On Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, my husband and I and another couple went to Siam Sushi, a place we'd been to often and enjoyed. Unfortunately, something has changed and our recent experience there was utterly unpleasant. It took an hour and 15 minutes after ordering to get our food, and one order was wrong. Our waiter never came to us to explain that our orders would be late, and when we asked, he said it was due to a "printer problem." More than an hour and a half later, with the one order that came out wrong finally corrected and taken to go, we left. The to-go order was panang curry with shrimp. There were two shrimp in the entire dinner. Sigh. We asked for the dinners to be comped, but they were not. The other couple did take the incorrect order home with them when the server offered it. Everyone in Tallahassee has been telling me this place is one of the best sushi spots in town. Now I don't eat sushi, but I love Japanese food. They also serve Thai cusine. I ended up getting the chicken in garlic sauce and the Siam fried rice. I did like the chicken, but I totally loved the fried rice. It had plenty of shrimps in it. The rice had almost like a sweet taste to it. I thought it was different, but I enjoyed it. I can't comment on the service too much because I ordered to go. But, I did briefly speak with management. Ordered online for delivery so I will judge based on that. The food was well delivered in plastic containers. The rolls tempura shrimp were a bit hot in temperature so made the rice and roll a bit strange to eat. The veggies rolls did not stay together but fell apart. The taste was good. I will want to try again in their restaurant. I feel sushi delivery does not do justice to the restaurant and looking to try again. The most magnificent item was their Thai soup. OMG. It was amazing. Nice staff. We were sitting outside. Ordered the watermelon martini which was nice and not strong. It came with a piece of watermelon which was great, only I would like less salt on that. Ordered the chicken and shrimp dumplings steamed and they were really good, it came with 5 decent sized, very good flavor. I ordered the salmon roll tempura, it was really good only wished it was a bigger roll, this one was the size of what a half one would be in any other Japanese restaurant, for its price it should be more.
