I love this place! I'm so glad I stumbled upon it on here. I'd been craving sushi for a while but also wanted some gooood fried rice, so I decided to give the place a try based on reviews. On my first visit, I had the basil fried rice with shrimp added and a basic sushi roll (Louisiana roll). I loved the rice, but the sushi was completely underwhelming. As stated, the rice was so good that it kept replaying in my mind and I visited again. This time, getting the Seminole Roll. This roll was delicious! I come here quite often and every time the food takes 45+ minutes to make upon ordering. We have been here for almost an hour and a half waiting on our food. No one in the kitchen is working or making the food. The only person who seems to care is the waitress who is telling the chefs what to do as they don't know what they're doing. I went to this place for dinner and had the most horrible experience culminating with need for urgent medical care. I was served food cooked by Chef Krishna in dinner. I was the last customer. The flat noodle had rotten vegetables and had some crystals of sand or glass inside which hurt my teeth and gums. The server took order which Chef Krishna did not follow but I saw that he was irritated also. Server also realized that he deliberately added few things which I had asked to be removed. But on top I did not expected crystals like glass or sand. I was disappointed, surprised but did not say anything and I left my food uneaten. However, after coming home my teeth pain intensified. Very disappointed in my to go order. I ordered 2 rolls to go and they packaged it in a huge box with no support so the rolls fell over and the topping fell off. Other sushi restaurants have specific to go boxes to prevent this. I specifically asked for the sauces to be on the side. Sadly, the sauce was all over the rolls (I prefer to dip myself and it keeps it from getting soggy). The rolls were saturated in sauce. The fish itself had a very fishy taste. A friend introduced me to this restaurant and I have found it to be a comfortable mid-afternoon choice. The outside in a big shopping center is pretty plain but the inside is nice. It has never been busy in that time between lunch and dinner so I can enjoy a relaxed meal. I will assume that the fact that they stay in business means there are other times when they are very busy. There is certainly a long bar and plenty of tables available. I have become a fan of Tom Kha soup and their's is pretty good. They have the best egg rolls and make a nice effort with presentation. The entrees I have tried have all been tasty. I look forward to exploring more of their menu. Service has been very good and the food has come out promptly. we went to as a post graduation dinner after my son's graduation at FSU. The place was empty other than one table already eating. We ordered appetizers and our food as we had to be at another graduation at 7. It wasn't even 5pm when we walked in and ordered. Other people came in after us and all the tables came in after us. They. all had their food within 15 minutes. Come 545 I asked how long it would be and she said another 20 minutes. we had not even received our appetizers yet And sat there for 45 minutes wasted time. The server was horrible and cost us our graduation dinner celebration. So disappointing they hire people that are incompetent to do the job. My son said she did the same thing when he was there the other night . I've lived in Tallahassee for over 10 years and this was our first time at Royal Thai and Sushi. After it was recommended by a coworker, we decided to head there for a Friday night dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. You should not come here expecting frills but good food and great service. We started with the Thai Curry Puffs which were an interesting take on a curry stuffed empanada. They were warm and comforting on a rainy day. For an entree, I ordered the curry duck and it was amazing. If there is duck on the menu, there is a good chance I'll order it. I asked for the curry to be spicy and it sure was. Do not waste your time or money! Took the young adults out for parent student weekend dinner. Took an hour and a half to get the food we ordered! There was only one other group in the place at the time. Which was unacceptable, especially dropping 200 plus on the entire meal. No apologys, no f&@) given. The best part is not everyone's main dish came out until the ending, or what they thought our time was up because they gave us the check. This day, I just really wanted squid salad, but they did not have squid. I was just bummed because I was craving it so that means no squid salad or the sashimi. So I ordered octopus sashimi, but they actually brought me Nigiri instead. Our group had: Pad kee nao - very flavorful and prepared well. Pad Thai (ordered medium spicy) which was also very flavorful and the perfect level of spice. Yellow Curry with chicken - again, spot on with the flavors. A California roll which was fresh and also flavorful. A Gator Roll - a chef's special that was amazing, full of flavors. For appetizers we had: Thai Curry Puff which was new for us but was really good. Chicken Satay (chicken on skewers) which were okay, but not anything spectacular - no real flavor at all - probably the least favorite of our meal; and Bang Bang shrimp which were truly amazing. Several of us commented that we could have ordered several orders of these and would have been happy. So - with the exception of the Chicken Satay, we were VERY pleased with all of our selections and would definitely order them again. read more

One of my mom's favorite places, so she took me while I was in town visiting. The food was great!!! I had the short rib special and it was hearty and delicious. Portions are large. Staff is welcoming and friendly. We had to ask for some basic things which might have been due to new staff or holiday changes, but they were quick to get it and accordingly to my mom, always take great care of her! Another day, more Thai food. This time, husband and I checked out Royal Thai and Sushi. I had the Panang curry with tofu and my husband had the pad see ew with the same. The flavors were really good, the tofu was prepared well, and the medium spice was the perfect amount of heat. The Tom Kha is my absolute favorite in the city! My husband and I are now fast regulars with my love of Thai food, and feel very welcomed by the staff every time we pop in. Came here for lunch with a friend after another friend told us about this place. What an awesome discovery! The restaurant has lunch special menu. My friend ordered Pad Woon Seen and I ordered the Pad See Ew (both $9 and came with vegetable egg roll with either a side salad or miso soup). We both loved our meal. The noodles were flavorful and colorful. Sight and taste is so important to me when eating. You can choose the meat and we both chose shrimp. They did not skimp on the shrimp. We each got a decent number of shrimp. The owner was working behind the sushi bar but everyone who walked in get a nod of acknowledgement. The staff are super friendly. The restaurant is very inviting. The location is a bit tricky if you have to drive there. It is right by FSU campus after all. I'll definitely return to try other items on the menu! Way to go. Had dinner at Royal today and needless to say the Thai food was on point! We ordered chicken Skewers, bang bang shrimp and the summer rolls for appetizers and then the pad Thai chicken and the chefs choice fried rice with chicken. The chicken skewers were delicious and the pad Thai and fried rice were also really good! Summer rolls were good and the bang bang shrimp was good but compared to everything else was probably our least favorite. The place is nice and clean and the service was also very good. Next time we will have to try some of their sushi choices as we only did Thai. Definitely will be back to Royal! read more

I don't recall ever eating at an Asian place that was so defensively rude about their food over a request to have something with nothing spicy. The place itself is clean enough with a lot of space plus bar seating, but on this particular Sunday night right before 7pm there was one waitress handling the to go orders and all the tables. The chef sometimes wandered outside into the restaurant to walk around. First, I ordered the basil fried rice with nothing spicy. Apparently "nothing spicy" means "mild", which was too spicy for me. We sent it back asking it to not be spicy, over which the owner defensively said it had no spice whatsoever. Both me and my partner tried it and it definitely had some sort of spicy powder in it. After we declined the order, the chef asked us what was wrong with his food in a very angry tone. He said he would bring me a bowl of plain steamed rice because he said "I don't want to hear you complain". My partner's beef dish (not a lot of beef) came with a side of, lo and behold, non spicy fried rice with a bit of peas, carrots, and tiny bits of egg. I asked for a bowl of that instead. The waitress and chef said okay. It never came so my partner gave me his. In terms or service, we sat for a bit without menus or being offered drinks. Summer rolls (appetizer) came out same time as the main meal, and the miso soup right after that. When we asked why the appetizer came out same time as our meal, the chef said "it is what it is." Both were below average; the summer rolls were oddly very sticky and bland on the inside. My partner did like the eel roll. Afterwards, the chef asked if we wanted to pay for our dinner, which put us in an uncomfortable situation. There was no apology or anything. Even though we didn't pay for the rice we didn't eat, everything was still above $50. We will not be coming back due to rude service and subpar food. read more

5 Stars are in order here folks. Everything was extremely good. I ordered the crab rangoons and dumplings for appetizers and the Masaman Curry for my entree. I initially didn't want the crab rangoons because I really like them and get them all the time from different Asian restaurants, but the waiter insisted. They were light and flacky and delicious, that's all I need to say. The dumplings, I got steamed, cause I'm watching my figure lol. The dumplings aren't traditional (pork), they are chicken and shrimp filled, a nice twist I might add. I didn't know which entree I wanted because I typical fry and really like Pad Thai and Pad See Ew so the r waiter suggested the curry portion of the menu. The Masaman curry has potatoes and nuts in it which wouldn't seem to go together but believe you me they did. The flavors of everything cane together so nicely. I got the medium heat with a little extra spice and the rice balanced the heat out quite nicely. Do me a favor, go to Royal Thai, and order everything I ordered... you're welcome. read more
